Was a Korean living in the Philippines for 16 years. Would always think Korean food was better but now that I'm in Korean all I need is some inasal, sinigang, and some chicken mcdo with gravy and rice
Hb pancit canton?
Lechon kawali and ogyupsal side by side ❤❤
@Kung-Fu Kenny what is that sounds great💝💝😀
hahaha ikr
Mouth-watering. I guess you're also missing the unlimited rice and chicken oil 🤣
I never heard anyone describe Bangus so elegantly.
True I can't even relate even if I am from Dagupan.
haha samon is bangus
He has a way with words👌
@@enso8762 ^_^
😂😂😂 I love Bangus!
I’m so happy about how well your channel is doing through these times Mike, it’s nice to see people make the best out of a situation such as this ❤️🤝 keep shining everyone ⭐️
A hungry and angry filipino once said:
"Pota nakakatakam"
they're probably hANGRY
hahaha...
Huhuhu
Mike, thank you for loving and showcasing filipino culture. 🇵🇭
When Mikey used the vinegar dip for everything that should be dipped puts my filipino heart at ease. Also my mouth is watering hahaha
Thank you for your love for Filipino cuisine, Mike! ❤️ Sending love all the way from the Ph. 🇵🇭
I've never had Filipino food before, but it's on my list of Must Try One Day foods. And the chicken skin looks and sounds amazing... even though the first time (because Mike was chewing) what I heard was "you have to try this chicken sh*t."
chicken sh*t is no good, chicken butt on the other hand...clucking awesome
Hhhhhhhh Filipino food is so gooooooood adobo and lumpia are must tries
@@strictlydumpling 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
burnt balls... one takeaway from this episode. thanks for adoring the food that we grew up eating. all the best to you Mikey!
Im not Filipino but dang that look so good
Why bother naming your account coconut?
@@rim2116 because He’s coconut boi??
@@rim2116 you good bro? we dont own coconuts
@@rim2116 fuhh wrong w that? lol
Chill out, I'm just checking if he's not real Filipino. Coconut is abundant in the Philippines tho, I assumed that he got his name from those coconuts. I only knew by now with his PFP that he's a cocomelon guy.
Mike and Ryan together? We definitely need to see it (again).
Oh my god I just realized. This is the first time he tasted a Lumpia. Once you go Lumpia youll never go back to regular veggie rolls.
Absolutely!
First time, I am being able to watch mikey’s video this fast! Lol.. it’s 3:30 am IST
Lots of love from the Northeastern part of India 🇮🇳 mikey.
Hi Mike I’m looking forward to your coming vlogs from Vegas we just from Vegas last week after missing it for more than a year and surely it’s ok’ing back to normal. Stay safe.
Mikey, you were in my hood! I’ve been a fan since your 5lb dumpling episode haha. It was part of my bucket list to have you visit our restaurant one day but we had to close due to the pandemic... we pioneered ube pancakes and ube cookie butter and have been serving the valley and greater LA county for 12 years. I would love to send you some of our ube pancake dry mix, brotha 👊🏾😬
IM A FILIPINO AND THAT STATEMENT YOU SAID STRAIGHT OUT OF MOMMAS KITCHEN. THAT HIT SO SOLID. I LOVED YOUR CONTENT EVEN MOOOORE.
the original okoy in Philippines is made up or small shrimps and flour..
like 1cup of flour and 1 cup of small shrimps with shells yes that will make the dish more crispy the flour
dip it in the same sauce you have
mike: "if there's no food here, you'll see me collapse"
me: me too😂😂😂
Mike thank you for loving Filipino food you're absolutely awesome.😁👍❤
yup that crispy pata crispy pork.. we eat that with beer
same as sisig.. have you tried bopis..
bopis is like sisig but made from internal organs of the pig.. still yummy
wow, i'm vietnamese and we have those shrimp and sweet potato fritters, and sweet and sour soup too!
It's late at night and even though I still got an exam tomorrow, still I AM GONNA WATCH THE VIDEO ❤️🔥
Wishing u luck all the way from sweden bro 🤟🏽
youll do great!

I wouldn't mind for the ryan higa collab video to be released now, even if it's outdated
I always love when you eat filipino food . Im glad you eat filipino food again .
I am here in the philippines now but still craving for all of these.. everyday......
when he said, "just like the 60s, it's gonna come with a little funk..." hilarious.
Most bbq are pre-cocked or broiled and then you just need it to chard in the grill so no worries hehehe
Should've checked out Carson for some great Philipono food options.
DUDE DOLLAR HITS I LOVE THAT PLACE I GO THERE WOOO LETS GO!!!!
Spread asian Love not hate, thank you for loving our culture and our food especially, I enjoy your episode sir
17:13 Randall Park?!! what're you doing there!!
chicken feet and pig's ear FTW. I know a lot of friends who will fight over the bangus belly during dinner lol.
Watching this vlog at 2am makes me crave all of this foods specially the "isaw"
As a Filipino I have to say, that sisig looked sus. 😂
right!? sisig needs those crispy bits of pork and mayo 🥲
nah not at all, two types of sisig, one is crispy and the other is the one Mike Chen had, the latter I think they put some Creamy thing on there, like what we use in restaurant a cow's tongue/ brain / or mayo for those who dont like the other two.
@@maemae77450 I'm not a fan of the mayo myself. I heard that mayo and egg are more Westernized/ modernized versions of sisig. I don't mind the egg though as long as it's crispy sisig.
Athentic sisig does not have eggs nor mayo.
@@joshmykeldizon dinakdakan perhaps?
Its like i wanna eat everything the way you eating it. And now im having a crush on you. Beside im a fan and always watching your vlog. More Philippines cuisine pls 🇵🇭🇵🇭 proud pinoy here
Hahaha. Make sure you have a fan or a bottled water to put out the flames on the grill when you BBQ 😆😆
Ayos! Watching from Australia 🇦🇺
Tbh, the food doesnt look very appealing but I'm not the type of guy who judges a book by its cover but the taste however, is always on point and that is what I like about Philippino food
the calamansi was meant for the noodle dish pansit
4MILL SUBZ to be soon Well done Mikey all the hard work(eating) is paying off Cheers from a Londoner!!
Pancit and Adobo is the best for me ♥️
Ayyy I saw the dollar hits place on Munchies
All good, bro. It is your first time grilling, I am like that too when it was my first time.
Please eat the paksiw(milk fish) with sinangag (garlic fried rice), even taste better!
Thats god food for all filipino out there. Man its make me hungry 😩
thank you Mike for featuring Filipino food again...& again 😊🇵🇭🙌
Everything looks so good!
Gotta be honest, I never considered paksiw a soup dish. And even as a Filipino, I couldn't take the strong vinegar smell, espacially when its being made right before you go to school...
Lumpiang Shanghai is addicting!!!
Parks wasn't closed. They only serve their friends and family. I see people come in and out all day.
Chicken skin chips look so freaking good
I know I just ate some pork intestines the other day and now I want some again after seeing this vid
Anyone who really appreciates food should cook, this episode is an example why.
Nobody starts out good at cooking, next time you'll have this lesson to guide you.
I do not comment
Mike is it bussin
The best part of this video is the last part..
yum! im hungry while watching this video
Did You ever tried polish pierogi? If Not you should, those are the best version of the dumplings in the world😁
Wow na wow
You have to put calamansi on the pancit !!
I live in San Francisco 🥰 how exciting your around!
Please release the video you have with Ryan Higa and Arden Cho. :) No matter what content you put out it will always be great.
The calamansi is suppoaed to be put on e pansit mike!!!
okay wtf why haven't i heard of CHICKEN SKIN CHIPS?! My mom would make fun of me cause when I was 2 i liked chicken skin. I could barely speak, so i'd try to tell them I want skin, and no one could understand me ;-;
2:19 they’re not closed, they’re just on “Filipino time”
Savaged! 🤣 hahahaha!!!!!🤪
hahahahahahaha
im sorry mike but youre too early.
he wasn't oriented lmfao
Hahahaha 😆
One thing I love about Mike's videos is that he really shows appreciation for all kinds of food. Even if he isn't a fan of the food, he's respectful about it. Thank you for sharing my Filipino food culture with the world!
I‘m a Swiss-Filipino (born, grew up and live in Switzerland). Haven‘t been to the Philippines for 3 years (couldn‘t go recently due to COVID), watching this video makes me happy and sad. Happy for seeing my favorite food at least through video , but sad because I dont know when I‘ll be able to taste it again... ingredients are mostly not available in Switzerland, so the only thing left to do for me is watch youtube videos about it :(
Soon! Hold on tight. We're gonna visit home soon 😊
We're in the same boat. Can't wait to eat sweet mangoes and seafood by the beach in the Philippines. Hang in there!
@@Ver0_Cat yeah hopefully!! my plan to do my master‘s degree in Manila also seems unlikely to become reality :/
@@honsia7606 oh, wow! I hope things work out for you! Best of luck!
Yeah. Im living in Switzerland right now and im doing my best to find the right ingredients here to cook the food i miss in the Philippines
Filipino food is so underrated. All looks so good.
That's because it's just an amalgam of other major cuisines.
@@saintsataniko2116 I don't think that is the reason as much as it's not it's turn in the spotlight.
@@ragnadrabinowitz7629 Nah, there are so many food shows/vlogs that Philippines has been covered plenty. Bourdain went to Fil a couple of times. My gf is from Cebu so I have a pretty good concept of the food and it is of course derivative of Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Western cuisine. It has never been considered a major Asian food destination like all of the above countries or like Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. I'm not saying the food isn't good, just that it is kind of fusion. Balut may be on of the few truly Filipino foods, and even that may have been popularized in China long before.
@@saintsataniko2116 cebu city? ever been to seaside?
@@brianaviation3072 She lives near Consolacion. And no, I haven't because of the pandemic. :(
When Mikey describes the food and how it tastes, looks and sounds when he takes a bite; makes me close my eyes and imagine. If he's a writer I might end up eating the book he's selling haha
Ngl Paper tastes delicious.

If you're ever in LA again and craving Filipino food, I'd recommend checking out Tatang in North Hollywood as well as Manila Sunset on Vermont street and the Ranch market across the street.
That’s the fastest I’ve clicked on a notification in a while... I can’t wait for my hot oil to get here!!! 🤗🤗

As soon as you said the chicken skin was the best part, my mind went to Joey Tribbiani. "I'm only eating the skin, so the chicken's up for grabs!" Extra crispy, please 😁
Sinigang, Sisig, Palabok, Pancit Canton, Lechon, Chicharon are some of the things that makes living in Philippines amazing
What I miss the most are the fruits. Atis, chico, santol, etc.
Don't forget the Shanghai my dude
"this is punch me in the face good" - Mike 2021😂
Right when in read this , he just said that line and his face was looking at me on the screen I couldn’t help but laugh out loud .
In my Filipino household, growing up we pretty much ate everything with white rice 🍚....so my first immediate thought is like “Where’s the rice?!” Lol
it killed me when he ate the sinigang by itself 😭😭😭
Physical pain. But he needs space for more food eating in other places
rice fills you up. hes showcasing the food. dont make sense to eat rice
@@nattobaby I did think of that too. It was just my instant reaction. I have literally never had a Filipino dish without rice...I also have never eaten that much food in one sitting either lol
He is treating Paksiw like the soup part was really soup lol
I would be arrested at that buffet because I go up and down the aisle and eat everything because it looks so good. Finally had my first bowl of shoi ramen with pork bone broth and I am hooked.
@L-R-G_Ez Where were you at 2 hours ago when my GrubHub was delivered? This time I got Takoyaki and steamed shumai two pork buns and Tan tan ramen. I don't know where this food has been all my life but all I want to say is that I just want to be Mikey chen. Who knew pork bone broth was that good I'm telling you I'm hooked
@L-R-G_Ez the next time I order I'm going to get whatyou recommended. Grandma April is so happy that I tried actual ramen and I love it. I love it so much......ramen is my new best friend
April Crumpton, I can’t agree with you more! Because of Mikey, my number one bucket list country is Japan for the ramen and seven elleven and waggu beef. I had my first ramen a few years back and it almost made me cry it was just sooooo amazing.
@@SavannahVu1985 when you start that bucket list and you decide to go to Japan China Vietnam I don't care where you're going I just want to go. I want to Ramen, I want to wagyu and the matsusaka beef too.
@@bumpinggums412 OMG darl, that sounds like a plan! Find me on FB and we can keep in touch! Even if It doesn’t go to plan, at least we both made a new friend and hopefully a food buddie for life 😆🥰
Mike chen picking up a calamansi: *Yes! Yes! Yes!*
Mike chen squeezes calamansi on the skewer *No! No! No! Its for the pancit. No!*
Mike is a big fan of anything sour especially calamansi, so he would put it on anything.
Welcome to LA, home of over 10,000 restaurants and 20,000 food trucks. You could spend a year filming here and just touch the surface of all the food choices. It is a true melting pot here. If you want some Southern California tips, let me know. In Long Beach, there is Little Cambodia, In Orange County, Little India and Little Saigon. Koreatown, Little Bangladesh, Little Ethiopia, it's all here. Things are just starting to open up.
Thai Town, Little Armenia, San Gabriel Valley for Dim Sum, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and every type of Central American cuisine. We have Asian night markets. Downtown LA has a huge food scene, also hit the Grand Central Market and the Original Farners Market in West Hollywood. If you want some tips Mike, let me know.
Cool
Not to mention the fusion's! Kogi tacos? Sushi burritos 🤯 been wanting to leave for colder weather, but can't imagine leaving 😂
@@EricaUrr Hi Erica, so I am not the only one trapped in Los Angeles because of the food. It is hard to imagine life without all of these food options so we endure the traffic, high cost of living, and the heat.
Sounds freaking amazing!
I don’t have an Asian bone in my body, but you’ve made me want to try all the Asian food!
I think you should just release the video with Ryan! He’s such an OG UA-camr.
Agreed! I watch you videos from all your channels all out of order anyway!
I have a Half-Filipino friend from high school and whenever she invites me and a bunch of other people over there's usually stuff like Lumpias with sweet chili sauce for everyone to snack on, and those things really are tasty~ Filipino desserts are bomb af too, just like nearly every Asian dessert I've had thus far!
kubo is my stomping ground i buy filipino food there twice a week
As a big fan of both Strictly Dumpling and Ryan Higa, I think it'd be awesome to just upload that secret video on your Mikey Chen channel, even if it's very outdated!!
up!
Came here to say the same!!!😁
I wish they had Filipino resturants in NC! Seeing those dishes makes me miss my mom's cooking!
There's one in Norfolk va if you want a road trip it's not the best lol but decent
I shouted, oh no! When you used the calamansi for bbq, it is for the pansit! Hehe but you do you, Mickey 😁
1 thing I noticed, you can never have a Filipino Food video on Strictly Dumpling without Mike eating/mentioning Sisig.
It's like the ultimate comfort food 🤤
Anyone else interested in knowing Mike's blood test results? Hahaha 2 years in and I'm still in awe of how much you can eat!
yesss when my two worlds collide. I've been following you for 2 years now Mikey and I organize in Historic Filipinotown! So dope that you decided to stop by.
Parks Finest is definitely one you should hit once they're open again! They're currently serving a lot of the frontline workers around LA (hospitals, COVID vaccination sites, etc)
Mike, my girlfriend is in the Phillippines.I miss the food from there so much! I have to check out the place you went to. I'm in LA. nice vlog. you made me soo hungry!
Whaaaat a Ryan Higa x Mikey Chen collab would've been the most amazing thing ever! You both are my ultimate favorite youtubers!!
Why Mike doesn't travel with a decent set of chopsticks is one of life's great mysteries.
Because he will need to wash it after instead of finding the next food hunt or adventure. Even cleaning with tissue isn't really clean. Unless you want to buy his chopstick merchandise. He is pretty flex. Sometimes he use his hand, fork and spoon not always chopstick. He can show what kind of utensils they use or provide in the places he visits
@@mimiace9361 there you go ^^^^
@@mimiace9361 Handi-wipes make your post moot.
For now, it's more safe and sanitary to use your own utensils. Have extras on the road if you can't wash them.
@@jeremyalexander9761 huh 🤔
