    Dear Suzie, I am only self taught and only doing my own nails, but you have no idea, how tranquil and relaxing it is, to watch you doing any form of work on your nails... the music, your voice, your "craftwomanship" and skills...this channel is truly one of my favourite happy places to escape to, after work. Thank you

    Suzie, I've been watching your channel for months, and I finally decided to give it a shot. My natural nails are so soft and weak, they are like plastic baggie material. (Well maybe not quite THAT soft, but you get the idea.) Anyway I had to get the store-bought acrylic supplies that aren't that great, but I used your tips and techniques, and I was really proud of my results. Considering it was my first time, I was very pleased, and it looks like I went to a professional! Thank you for your channel and giving "civilians" like me so much invaluable information!

    Can you do a video showing how to camouflage shorter nail beds. I had one technician do it. He made me look like I had long nail beds. I’m thinking he used pink higher up and hid my natural smile line somehow. 🤔

    • @jennw6809
      @jennw6809 5 років тому +6

      We've seen Suzie do this technique in some of the french videos I think!

    • @calichef1962
      @calichef1962 5 років тому +8

      Yes, you figured it out! That's exactly what he did! He used a cover (opaque) pink to cover your natural smile line and then used white against the pink to create a longer appearing nail bed. It's a very common practice. Some manicurists _really_ exagerate the nail bed with the cover pink so that it's past the fingertip altogether. I'm not a fan of that look. I want to sculpt nails that _could_ look like someone's real nails, if a bit more picture perfect.

    • @loganavenue1

      calichef1962 It was one of the most amazing transformations to my nails! But he moved.... and I’ve never been able to get somebody else to do it like he did. Or maybe I haven’t been able to explain it properly. There is always a language barrier at the nail salons where I live. 🤷‍♀️ anyways I’m hoping if she does a video I can show it to the nail tech. 🤞

    I’m a DIYer, and I take FOREVER...I mean really FOREVER to do my nails. Just learning to sculpt nails, and decided on Polygel for its forgiving nature. But I’m embarrassed to say that I literally spent 6+ hours from start to finish. And they still didn’t look this good. I think I grew impatient by the time I got to the color portion because I was embarrassed at how long it was taking me. My sister laughed at me because I spent all day...ALL DAY doing my nails. As a nail tech myself, truth be told if you're thinking chipping and breaking it has a lot to do with having good prep work than just the gel "breaking for no reason". I would say buy nail prep and prime products (91% Isopropyl Alcohol and Acid-Free Primer should be good enough), buffs squares or blocks, and a UV/LED lamp. They sell a lot of them on AliExpress and Ebay (it's where I bought my tools first starting out) but be weary of the gels like Sina that float around. Sometimes those products aren't safe and can cause chemical burns on your nails. (Like the product will literally over time cause your nails to erode)
      Like I said, follow the advice from the girls in these comments, but I can't stress enough: BUY PREP AND PRIME PRODUCTS. It'll make your gels last so much longer if you do.
      Hope this helps and good luck! 😘

    • @Liv-kr1yl
      @Liv-kr1yl 5 років тому

      I_is_katkit do you have tips for preserving the strength of your nail and preventing damage when using gel? I got it done once before and my nails were so thin after!!! I currently have strong, and semi long natural nails and really don’t want to do gel at home and then want to do regular polish (since I won’t buy many colors to start) and have my nails be so weak! I only want to use gel for the look and longevity! Not adding any nail with acrylic.

    • @lnuma92
      @lnuma92 5 років тому

      @@Liv-kr1yl
      Hmm. Judging from what you're telling me, it sounds like an overfiling issue. The natural nail when working with gel or gel polish (even acrylic enhancements for that matter) should only be lightly buffed to only remove the shine; a dehydrator like alcohol, will cleanse the nail plate of oils, primer preps the nail for product. Over filing not only leads to thin nails, but can lead to the product not adhering to the nail for long term because the foundation (aka the nail itself) is not strong enough to hold product.
      All these precautions should help with preventage and damage control. Again, proper prep and prime techniques are a MUST.

    Beautiful, Suzie! Can you please tell me the brand/name of the little white lamp you were using? That looks like a handy one to have around! Thank you

    Every time you say “paint” I hear my beauty school instructors yelling “You paint a house you POLISH your nails!” It’s been 20 years since I graduated but I think I still have some PTSD!

      I went to a Vocational school during High school for Cosmetology and she would always say you wash dishes, you wash clothes but you Shampoo and condition your hair. And it's been over 20 years for me. Also, my 10th grade chorus teacher would tell at us about enunciating the word you and not saying chu. About you not aboutchu like it was one word. Haha!

    I am generally not a big fan of orange polish, but this is really pretty! I love the square shape, too! It looks so fresh, different and new after years of almond, ballerina and stiletto that it really looks like a whole new thing!

    I'm laughing at the cat meowing in the background. My cat Nala does that while I'm doing a full set or a fill with gel 😂😂😂😂😂
