I like when there’s a (seemingly) straight guy who does nails nails, it’s great because it helps break down the stigma, and breaks down how people think painting/painted nails and other beauty care things as a feminine hobby/job/interest. :)

I’m a straight guy who does his own finger and toenails. I hate dirty nails. Ever since high school. Before that I used to think dirty nails meant you were a real guy. Maturing changed that.
Also, you know how many women actually taking my grooming seriously has gotten me since I figured this out? haha
They make you think that Women love ashy, crusty, and dirty nails on TV. You know? “Hard working hands” Until you have to touch one in real life and your hard working nails are cutting her. Haha
I’m a auto technician, but currently work at a warehouse. I still keep my hands and feet baby smooth. It’s no excuse. 🤷🏾♂️ You can still have masculine hands that are clean and smooth. 💯

I never thought about applying polish as being difficult...until I met people who couldn't do it...which was a strange concept to me! But there really are people who just cannot paint nails🤔 Just goes to show, everyone's different & things that come naturally to one person are completely foreign to another!

Amber D. Some brushes don't help at all, plus, natural nails are harder to paint than acrylic/gel. Otherwise, tips like these & practice, practice, practice! You'll get there!☺️

I've been painting my nails for about 4 years now, and in my opinion I can do just as well as a licensed nail technician.
It really just takes practice and a lot of patience.

When I was going up with 5 sisters and 2 brothers, my grandmother who raised us and 4 other grandchildren 2 girls and 2 boys for a total of 12 children always told us learn to do things for yourself. She always said never pay someone else to do for you if you can do for it for yourself. Coming from a big family with limited income learning to do certain things made a big difference in our apperance.
It's easier for me to paint my own nails because the angle is completely different!!! I'm practically painting sideways vs. when I actually have a client in FRONT of me with their fingers either flat out straight (don't do this) or slightly tilted down, and having to balance their finger as well as paint. It's hard to describe
@@comegetmyxlove agree! so hard to do someone else. I do my own nails as a hobby....every once in a great while i relent when someone asks me to do theirs but I need a dang lesson on how to hold their hand without messing up the other nails!!

I like that you show it on all fingers, because they have different form
You forgot to mention to look for polishes with fanned bristles because if you have cheap polishes the bristles are thick and theres no movement. A good polish brand will have a u shape for its bristles and they are wide and tapered, they are also super flexible and have the flexibility of hair like synthetic thin strands. If youre using cheap polish make sure to use a better brush or avoid dollar polishes or use a synthetic painting brush. This video was awesome thanks guys. 💞💞💞

I have shied away from regular polish because I was unable to do it nice enough before it would start to dry. For that reason I've always gone with gel polish. This video is a complete game changer. Thank you so much for breaking down something that seems like it should be so simple without making me feel like I'm not good enough to be doing nails if I couldnt use regular polish. ❤️

I think the brand might be Caption(?) It seemed like he mentioned that several times in relation to the polish.
I'm trying to find out as well. Looking at all the colors, it might be "Here's the Deal".
The color is Caption's "Peep the Goods." I have the polish and it is just beautiful!

Starting in the centre nearer the free edge minimises bleeding in to the cuticles, allowing more time to apply it at a slower pace, followed by nearer the cuticle then down the side walls. Everyone has their own method that works best for them but, it’s one of the easiest method. :)

Cat 181314 dont let them fool u those nails had acrylic or some other material added to them b4 they even started notice how pink and smooth they were although they said they had buffed them to dehydrate them. Iv never saw any1 with natural nails like that.

When I started watching your video I thought, ‘this is stupid, who doesn’t know how to polish nails?!!!’ I have been doing my nails for years and am complimented daily how pretty they are and how they love the color. BUT!!! You taught me a couple of things!!! I’m shocked!! Using the brush with polish remover blew my mind!! Also, using the brush and remover to fix the nail on the side, I never thought of doing that!! I do apply my polish up to the cuticle and wondered why someone would want that space open after a manicure? So your tutorial taught an old dog new tricks!! Lol. I used your products year's ago when I was a nail nech! I'm no longer a nail tech because of different thing's. I really wish I could have gone to school with you guy's because of feeling like I didn't get the teaching I needed when I did go through the class. In the end of the class the instructor quit half way through and we were on our own and we payed for this class and didn't get our money back. They had a teacher from the hair class pop her head in every once in a while.

Glad to see this tutorial. A lot of technicians do not know how to polish. My technique of polishing is like yours. The only difference is that I clean the nail as I go when it gets on the skin.

I also thing getting new polish brushes will help, usually a brush is long and straight and incredibly hard to reach side edges and the cuticle area without bleeding over. Switching to a wider and curve tip (shown in the video) can help with getting close to the cuticle without any bleeding helps. Especially if your left handed and brushing someone elses hand.
