The snappy throttle response of the Civic (lightweight 5kg flywheel from the factory) never gets old! :) Whereas the doughy throttle response of the Megane (silly 12kg dual mass flywheel + being turbocharged) and the way the engine sounds like a blender gets old fast. :( With not much power and a LSD, you can get on the throttle very early without the wheel hop or wheelspin that turbocharged FWD sport compacts tend to have (the old Civic even has traction in first gear!). @@javierzapatarodriguez2068 great question. I was very hesitant to get rid of my 2017 mustang GT manual. I loved that car and it was a ton of fun. But I have more fun driving my civic si. Nah, the key is that it's always been fun to drive and Honda always makes light cars so you make the classic noob mistake and only look at horsepower when real car enthusiasts look at horsepower to weight ratio, handling, and track times. You're a noob by only looking at 0-60 times.
@@ryanw5584 shit not necessarily lol. If this thing can be tuned then easy this is a great throw around track car. I would put much past a focus RS/ST as far as pushing it with HP as much , that wasn’t really a thing . Aftermarket support for civics? Always has and will be a supported vehicle.
@@1Raunchy please look into the support for the RS and ST. You'd be surprised, I'm currently pushing 310 whp and 350+ lb/tq with full bolt on and a tune. Thing would demolish this 200hp Si. But I paid 25k for a fully loaded ST in 2013 and I'm at 125k miles with 0 issues, which is really lucky for a ford lol
@@ryanw5584 lol if you knew about civics a bit more you can probably take the whole motor out easy and possibly throw a bigger turbo on it with a good tune easy. With it still being reliable. Now it being a 1.5 does scare me a bit but it can push well over the 200 it comes from the factory with , it’s begging to be tinkered with .
Dealerships in Canada have these listed at 36k, the Elantra N Line DCT at 29.7k and the GTI at 33k... As "nice" as this car is... The Elantra N Line is the best value for a sportier commuter, but the GTI in manual is the best enthusiast bargain.

Great review; really like the civic lineup. The si is a perfect drivers car here in the US it’s a few thousand less can’t beat the price. Been buying civics and accords forever no need for Acura
There’s nothing better than some Canadian grown content,Keep it it guys great review as always.👍🏽👊🏽
You made my day guys in deciding on my next car, because I was hesitating between the SI and the GLI ! thx great reviews btw :)
You guys are great Im actually shocked at how well you guys remember all the things about all the cars you guys have driven over the years so if you for get something once in a while it’s ok cause you guys drive a lot of cars I’m curious actually how many you guys do a year lol I guess I could go back myself and figure it out lol
im subs to this channel because u review almost every single civic ever exist
Waiting for the new Integra ,,,, hatchback , 8spd DCT lifted from the ILX,,,, perfect ,
I once had a 2002 WRX and it had 200hp…. It was a rocket go cart. And now this Civic- minus Covid and the authoritarian government mandates and inflation and shortages, the future is fantastic!
I like the hatchback better. Great review as always.
This is probably the most fun daily for the money, I have a wrx performance pack and I would love to have a go with this car. Trying to convince my friend to get one of these.
I’m ordering a 2023 model
I am genuinely surprised that this comes with Auto Rev Match, what a great move by Honda
I’m just happy that it has a real manual
@@william2glaser227 it’s the realest manual I feel like Honda has put out in a while. I love the auto rev match and the interior exhaust sound. I think it’s a great fit for the car and it expresses its new generation very well.
Comes with every Hyundai N, hehe
@@player1GR Hondas first time
@@Kaelanpo no the Type R had it
Nice transition from the intro, Yuri!
Great looking generation overall. Can’t wait for the Type R. Hoping it isn’t as boy racer looking as the previous one. Brilliant video guys 🤘🏻
Jetta GLI , kia forte and mazda 3 direct competitors ! Love it .
@@thomasengel1459 I hope they don't, a Type R should be entirely separate than an Si or base from looks
@@akuma_mx5 yeah, that's pretty much the point. The type R is meant to be a hyper aggressive version of the Si. They're always eye catching cars. They look sema-esque stock. If they get rid of the big spoilers, lips, & diffusers, it will just be an Si with a better engine. I wouldn't pay premium for that at all.
@@bantuboi3131 ofc they wont, but the previous gen type r is just kinda too much
I hopped on TrueCar and dealer contacted me. That’s how I got my 11 gen Civic SI. Thanks guys!
Although the US version has most technologies stripped out…
Amazing! Congrats. Minus the stripped US version
Is TruCar only for the US? It seems to only accept zip codes. What kind of affiliation is this if you guys are Canadian? Where's the Canadian love?
They did a good job but they really need to differentiate more from the normal Civic, although it doesn't cost much more these days
The Office Space bit at 2:56.... WELL DONE!
Love it. I do wish there was such a thing as a fit Si. I really enjoy the smaller form. Just wish it was more driver focused.
The only channel I take seriously with their reviews. Mainly because they don’t agree on everything. Also very entertaining!
Sad about the difference between the Canada and USDM versions. I live up north in the US and could certainly use those Canada-only features... but I will make do. This car is too sick to pass up.
Yuri with the sick shifting sound effects!!!
I always prefer the Sedan over the Hatchback version. I just like the shape better.
It’s not it for me. I liked the shape of the last gen sedan more. I think this one has a better front end tho, but everything else doesn’t really mesh well IMO.
From France with passion and respect ✌🏼🇨🇵😎
I absolutely love the styling of the new gen civics! Really love the more toned down classy/functional styling. Can't wait for the type R
Jakub’s maniacal laugh at launch is waaaay better than any piped in engine sound and I propose that Yuri find a hack for that.
🎶
I feel like i waited for this review all my life. Totally worth the wait. Thank you straight pipes. Stay dope boys!
Great review, you two make me smile, you love what you do and I enjoy watching your videos. Top shelf stuff, muchas gracias.
Dude. That opening beat is fire.....
It's a shame that the US spec SI's got neutered on options. I want to love it but that drops it from my list
Yeah, that's a bummer. I'm a Canadian and am grateful for the features (I have a '22 Civic Sport Sedan). It would probably be a deal breaker without them.
I have an FJ and I’m looking for a daily.
GTI
SI
GR86/BRZ
Are the ones I’m looking at currently. I’ve already owned all 3 brands at one point and I like Toyota quality but I don’t trust Subaru reliability as much as I trust Honda and I know VW isn’t the greatest either. So I’m kinda leaning Si now for a everyday fun car and I’ll keep the FJ for adventures
I'd take the GR 86 over it, probably the integra as well.
GR 86 is a coupe. People shopping for a sedan won't cross shop these two.
Chopped
I love that Adele’s “Easy On Me” was on the dash as Yuri was banging against the rev limiter😂 1:30
I drive my parents civic sport. Nice car actually. Eyeing a GR86 but for less $$ this seems solid.
Ya for the price differential you could do full bolt ons and a tune for the civic and be nearly as quick as a gr86
Too find a Gr86 @msrp though….. I wasn’t considering this car at first but the reviews seem great. Still want the gr but it will probably be hard to find one without the markups
@@TmanBlades I’m gonna wait around 4-6 months and I think I can find one without markup then. But instead of an Si I’m thinking a veloster N may be better.
@@normanparthiban4383 kind of my plan too at this point. Haven’t really looked into the veloster N yet, I’ll have to give it a look
@@TmanBlades yesterday I got really close to pulling the trigger on an Veloster N. Out the door was 36. Need to rethink. Back to the drawing board
I get mine Monday. Apprenbtly they're making more HP/TQ than advertised. And a simple tune gets you a lot more out of it
I think we're at a point where the Si at 200 HP isn't exciting anymore. I know it's fun to drive, but the Si used to be a "tier" above the standard 4 banger, but now it's kind of just one of them. That's probably why the Type R came back and has remained relatively successful.
Nah, the key is that it's always been fun to drive and Honda always makes light cars so you make the classic noob mistake and only look at horsepower when real car enthusiasts look at horsepower to weight ratio, handling, and track times. You're a noob by only looking at 0-60 times.
This thing would get smoked by my 2013 focus st. If you're buying a civic for power you already fucked up.
You'd need a tune, fbo, and probably a bigger turbo. I like the look of these new Civic Si, and on a budget sure it might be a good buy.
Hondas always have been that way. I’ve seen single cams push almost 800-1k .
I agree fully. I almost bought the N line but I needed a 6mt. And I got my 2022 civic Si for less than 36k. Got it for 33 950
@@MegaVoisey Where, if I may ask? Considering flying to CA to pick this car up.
Can’t leave out the forte gt
People aren’t buying the Civic coupes? I feel like that’s all I see on the streets.
LOL at Adele's "Go easy on me" playing in the dash as you bounce off of the rev limiter! ;)
Canadian version has a ton of standard options not available on the American version... Honda shafts us again...
1:29 Yuri banging the needle off redline and the Si is trying to talk to him like Bumblebee from transformers by playing Adele's "Easy on me" on Apple Car Play 😭😂
I’d get one of these if they did it as an estate, would be a great alternative to the octavia vrs
What’s estate?
@@Nikeair0117 It’s another name for a station wagon
@@Nikeair0117 in America I think they call them wagons and some places shying shooting brake/sportbrake
