Every time we heard this song in the car I would always ask him to tell me about the story of him seeing Pink Floyd in concert for the first time. The song is about the frontman of the band who was so lost and disconnected from reality because of the drugs he was using. This song means a lot to anybody who grew up in this time. Especially the writer of the song who lost his friend to something he had no idea how to help. One of if not there best songs.

We had 2 fish in fish bowls on each table. I also played it for him before he passed... bless your heart darlin... kindred spirits we are. I'm now 53. 🥰

Was my son's favorite Pink Floyd song. Now his father & I are just "two lost souls swimmin' in a fishbowl...year after year...wish you were here..." Fly high, my son...high & free
This is my favorite Floyd song...for sentimental reasons. I was 11 when this came out and my brother moved away. He called me and played this song over the phone to me because he knew I missed him so much. I remember feeling so loved by my big brother every time I hear it.
Gentlemen. Pink Floyd - 'Comfortably Numb' Live from the Pulse Widely regarded as possibly the greatest guitar solo of all time. "You don't listen to Floyd, you *experience* it."
Okay, dudes, so that you understand: Pink Floyd music was not and is not meant for mainstream radio airplay. They found incredible success in “non-commercial” music. Taste in their music isn’t for everyone, but they have proved time and time again that their non-radio music is a huge success. Yes, it just may not be to your taste. That’s ok.
Pink Floyd made some of the greatest music ever recorded. They are timeless. They also were big on social justice and tackling difficult societal issues.
Pink Floyd is legit one of the most revolutionary bands of al time. This is one of their chillest songs, but once you get down the rabbit hole there are like 30 absolute classics.
The beauty of Pink Floyd is they seem to speak to people from all ages and walks of life. I've had friends that only listen to Metal and family members into old time country and even my neighbor who is strictly a classical music fan....and yet they all know Pink Floyd songs and rank them among their favorites.
from a pure artistic standpoint, Pink Floyd is the greatest rock and roll band of all time. Because you don't just listen to Pink Floyd; you experience it! It's something you can feel in your whole body. And not all their music is slow. But most is admittedly played at a more leisure pace than prototypical rock bands - because their music is about vibing and reflection; it's music for the soul. that you just close your eyes and lose yourself in it.
I have grown old listening to some of the greatest bands ever. I believe only a few of them will have their music being played 100 years from now. Pink Floyd is at the top of that shortlist.
I really love seeing the younger generation deep diving into old music like this with an open mind. I thoroughly enjoy this channel. I like that you pay attention to the lyrics, look up the meaning of the songs and all. Loving this channel right now ❤

I had a feeling these lyrics were going to hit you guys. Glad they did. Pink Floyd is very different than anyone else. And their sound can be very different from album to album and song to song. I HIGHLY recommend listening to the entire Dark Side of the Moon album, from track 1 to the end. Even if you break it up over time. The whole album is only around 45 minutes too, so not that much time to spend for something SO worth it. I am positive you guys will dig it. The vibe is undeniable and the lyrics are deeply profound.

For me it's been almost 4yrs. since my son's death...the firepit in our back yard has never been the same. He succumbed to his demons from PTSD serving in Irag. Was introduced to pink Floyd at 14 ..now 60 and this song makes me feel same way 45 plus years on... It's one best songs ever written ..Rock on lads ..shout out from Australia
My Dad raised me on Pink Floyd, this and comfortably numb were probably our favourite songs and he would play along on his harmonica😊 He passed last year so I can't listen without it provoking so many memories and emotions💔😢
You guys should check out all the songs on this album. Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall were more popular but front to back Wish You Were Here was always my favorite Pink Floyd album.
This...Song...OMG... It means so much to me. Great reaction guys. I cannot implore you enough to listen to Dark side of the moon in its entirety as well as the wall. You will have to invest some time but man what a ride you will embark on.
There are so many bangers from Pink Floyd! One of their probably more commercial songs, but actually one of my favourites, is "Money", a criticism as money being kind of the root of all evil... Definitely worth listening to!
This is one of my favorite songs of all time... Floyd is deep... All of their music hits deeply...My first love passed away a few months ago.. This song reminds me of him... Rest in Peace.. how I wish you were here...
Now you goin in deep! Pink Floyd is an experience and you really have to do complete albums because each song on their albums tell a page of the story and when you do like you’re doing now and you’re skipping to three quarters through the book. If you listen closely during the guitar solo you can hear the angelic voice of one David Gilmour singing it with his guitar.
Time, Comfortably Numb, Coming Back to Life are few of my absolute favorites. My favorite band since I was 13 and the greatest of all time. Young Lust is a solid rock track...
Lyrically one of the best bands of all time. My favorite Pink Floyd lyric is "you have to be trusted, by the people that you lie too, so that when they turn their back on you, you'll get the chance to put the knife in"
it should probably be noted, especially for anyone that's not familiar with them, that they're talking about politicians (well, i guess it could just as easily apply to a shady used car salesman or any number of other types of scumbags). as powerful a line now as it is ever was, if not more.
@@janetking2035 the song is 'Dogs' from the Pink Floyd album 'Animals' (1977). "...the album's lyrics describe various classes in society as different kinds of animals: the predatory dogs, the despotic ruthless pigs, and the "mindless and unquestioning” herd of sheep."
Thanks guys, I never knew the back story, but listened to all of Pink Floyd in my youth. Later on, in my 40's, (I'm 60 now) I lost my childhood friend to an overdose. Afterwards, this song took on a new meaning for me. Every time I've heard it since then I always think of her! The acoustic guitar accompanied with the lyrics made this song deeply beautiful and is still one of my favorites of all time. ✌❤🙏🌎
Holy crap I follow you guys and never seen this! My dad just passed. He loved motown but really loved this group... I've been listening to this song & others on repeat since he passed. Love you dad ❤️ Even Cartier Fam heard the feels
This band hits different. You reacted to comfortably numb a few months ago, which was a great reaction. If you're going to check out more Floyd, I would recommend taking them in albums. Not necessarily in one video, but start with the first song of an album and then do the second whenever, then the third, etc. You'll get a lot more from it. These guys wrote some pretty deep lyrics. The album this song is off of, this being the title track, is no exception. It's about an original band mate, "Syd Barrett," who literally went insane and was committed.
this is the song for everyone whos ever lost someone to something they couldnt stop or help and had to stand by and just watch it all happen. helpless..
I like how you guys feed off each other.... you all come out with some seriously silly then BAM!!! Drop some serious thought provoking revelations. Love seeing you discover the meaning of things. Much MUCH respect. Ya'll aight.
Good to see you reacting to this older music, these older rock bands had a lot of things going on at the time that influenced their songs. Think of the '60s, there was a lot going on politically and musically. Rock music was coming up and even giving birth to sub-genres - blues-rock, rock'n'roll, punk rock, etc. Couple of react suggestions: - Krayzie Bone - Clash of the Titans, which is a reaction to Eminem's Rap God. You can read up on Bone's influence in music. - Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms (On the Night Live). These guys are from northern England and Mark Knopfler's guitar rifts are out of this world. This song was written during 1982 when Britain was involved in the Falklands war.
It was so sad because Syd Barret was a complete genius but he suffered with schizophrenia and was institutionalized his whole life after he had a full breakdown, Drugs and the epic success of the band just put him over the edge. Many of the songs are nods to his genius and he was loved and missed by the other members to this day. One of my favorite all time bands. Like you said, you can just put them on and get lost in your feelings and thoughts for sure! xx.
1 luv... Game of thrones GOATED. Check out Journey... Faithfully and open arms.. Live and studio sound the same. They were in WE ARE THE WORLD(steve perry)
I was a runaway at 15 the first time I heard this song. I was at the home of a couple of Italian friends. Young girls who lived without fear and in luxury. I remember loving this song and it takes me back to that home and that moment every time I hear it. The words are brilliant, his voice is perfect, the music is timeless.
Did you guys do the live version of Comfortably Numb? If not, then you definitely should. Especially with how much you guys loved Eric Clapton and his guitar playing. David Gilmour's solo on Comfortably Numb from The Pulse tour was amazing. He's a God on the guitar, just like Clapton. Those types of players are on a whole other level. Basically, there's life before you've seen that performance, and then there's life after watching that.
The two best parts: 6:00 mark and then the simple act of curiosity towards the end, finding out the inspiration to the song. Never stop being curious my young brothers ❤
This song was played at my ex boyfriend’s funeral, he was a big fan ,and he introduced me to pink floyd and I’ve loved them ever since ,and I wish he was here 😢❤

Was introduced to pink Floyd at 14 ..now 60 and this song makes me feel same way 45 plus years on... It's one best songs ever written ..Rock on lads ..shout out from Australia
Around the same time as you. I was 13 and now almost 59.
Blame "Animals", my compatriot. 😎
So happy you guys watched this. I cry when I hear this and comfortably numb..they are for my momma rip
My first time listening to PF and i'm of that era. I always appreciate seeing the lyrics because so many artists slur the words. Thanks.
Pink Floyd is AMAZING.
Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time. I was fortunate enough to see them live and they were great!!!!
Please react to "Shine on you crazy diamond" (official video) by Pink Floyd.
An absolute masterpiece
I really appreciate that y’all appreciate this!
Y’all keep up the good work!
Love this song. Enjoyed it in the mountains on an acid trip. Hits on a whole new level. Awesome for yall to explore different music.
It’s nice to see you guys react to some classic music. Hope to see more!
Pink Floyd song HAVE A CIGAR
Beautiful taste
Roy Harper vocals
on that one.
My Dad raised me on Pink Floyd, this and comfortably numb were probably our favourite songs and he would play along on his harmonica😊 He passed last year so I can't listen without it provoking so many memories and emotions💔😢
Pink Floyd definitely had some loud sounds but they were the epitome of acid rock. Mellow trippy rhythms with soft spoken lyrics.
We affectionately called it "head music"!! Perfect tunes to enjoy while under the influence of one illegal substance or another!!
One of the best songs ever. Makes me cry everytime tho.
You guys should check out all the songs on this album. Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall were more popular but front to back Wish You Were Here was always my favorite Pink Floyd album.
Floyd is music that you chill to when you have that right kind of “ high”! Just speaking factzzzz!
There's much more to Pink Floyd than meets the ear. Many strains. Many sides. Many sounds. Ultimately producing unlimited and infinite joys.
This song is timeless! It was as if it was written yesterday.
That you took the time to look up what the song is about and learn a little about Pink Floyd is awesome. GREAT REACTION
This is a fucking classic! cool to see you guys reacting to some rock
You should listen to the "Great Gig In the Sky" from the Dark Side of the Moon album. Pink Floyd is an amazing band that transcends time
Love seeing your Dad in the background.
God Bless you all😊
One of the most beautiful song ever written.😢
Ok. I get it. But, what song was that from.
Animals is my go to calming album. Dogs is a masterpiece.
Time, Money, Us and them, On the turning away, Young lust are all great tracks!
"Dark Side Of The Moon", the whole album. "Time", "Money", "Breathe/Run" , "Us and Them". Also, "Live at Pulse" amazing concert.
The first album I bought in the 60’s was Pink Floyd ❤️
What an absolute amazing album. Its a masterpiece.
The song "Money" is a different vibe you all will like that one. "Another Brick in the Wall" is another great song with a message.
My all-time favourites! Love Pink Floyd! ❤️
The best thing about being old is that I got to see all of the best bands live. 88, 89, 90 and 94. Four of the best gigs of my life.
Couple of react suggestions:
- Krayzie Bone - Clash of the Titans, which is a reaction to Eminem's Rap God.
Like you said, you can just put them on and get lost in your feelings and thoughts for sure! xx.
No, he wasn't institutionalized. He lived a somewhat reclusive life, taken care of by his family, painting and quietly doing his own thing.
I know Wish You We’re Here was for Syd Barrett.
1 luv... Game of thrones GOATED. Check out Journey... Faithfully and open arms.. Live and studio sound the same. They were in WE ARE THE WORLD(steve perry)
No life without the gods that are Pink Floyd, don’t my word for it, look it up ❤️🙏
I was a runaway at 15 the first time I heard this song.
I am glad you read the backstory to this song, the inspiration for it.
This song was played at my ex boyfriend’s funeral, he was a big fan ,and he introduced me to pink floyd and I’ve loved them ever since ,and I wish he was here 😢❤
I just love watching you guys all together. This song has always made me sad but seeing you guys do this video makes me happy. I just love you guys so much.
Thank you for this reaction.
"So, you think you can tell..." One of the greatest songs of all time. What a joy to see your reaction.
You should see them playing live, it's quite an experience! 💟🤘🏼😘
You guys are great, pick awesome songs and you enjoy all of it, including your comradery.
fair play from England open minds love it!!!!
I'm a 59 year old man that grew up in the highlight of this era, and I enjoyed listening and watching your reaction to this song, it brings back a lot of memories. I suggest you check out the group Ten Years After, and the song "I'd love to change the world". Peace!
two of pink floyd's best songs are
Number: 1 time👌
Number: 2 have a cigar👍
yessss 🔥🔥🔥
