I've learned many things in the time that I've been married to this man and his filipino family. Check out a few things I want to share about our journey together in marriage. These are in no way marriage tips or advice, just my perspective of the culture I've learned so much about through my marriage.

Yeah no doubt Filipinos men married to overseas foreigners ladies while Filipinas married to overseas foreigners are on the rise too.
Not too many are willing to marry men from their own country in this millennium. That’s the true fact. Plenty of Asian men from their own countries are actually committing scandalous affairs and adultery behind their families and spouses back. A word of caution ⚠️ just be very careful with this sensitive issue and topic known as : relationships.

And if someone is married to a filipino, just bear in mind that the loving is for life. Couples growing old together are more often than not. There are some cases of legal separations between married couples but the percentage is really low. Unlike in other foreign countries, one quarrel could be enough to file for divorce. Filipinos take heart the married vows seriously... for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.. for filipinos marriage is such a serious business😊

We only have a few nursing or retirement homes like "Home For The Aged", "Kanlungan ni Maria" and "Tahanang Walang Hagdanan" but those that were taken there are elders who don't have a family anymore. Yes, the young ones take care of their folks in their own houses because kids want to be with their old parents until their dying days. Homeless old people though were taken to the retirement homes. Filipino values are founded by love and responsibility as well for their elders. That's what makes us unique. Happy Anniversary!

I’m sorry, I beg to disagree . There are nursing homes that are available in the PI and quite expensive for Philippines standard . Some of the elderly who resides are those who retired from abroad or their children are living abroad . I have a friend who is an only child but lives in the US she had no choice but to be put her mom in a beautiful nursing home in the PH. It’s not appropriate to pass the responsibility to her relatives who are also old in the PH. This was the best set-up. My friend is not in the retiring age yet so she can’t come home to the PH and she has a family to take care here in the PI. Maybe your asking why can’t her mother move to the US. Nursing homes in the US is very expensive and hiring a caregiver in the US as well. My friend needs to work to support her own family .

The woman should know these customs exist in Mexico because they're the ones who brought it to the Philippines.I suspect she's not to familiar with Mexican traditions since she's probably a 3rd gen Chicana.

In the Philippines, respect to the elders is a Pilipino custom that is by far unmatched by any culture except by the Japanese people.
Other cultures consider blood relatives as cousins but in the Philippines is different. For example, my parents siblings and cousins are considered elders regardless of age. I have aunts that are much younger than me and I have to respect them as such.
Also I have what you may call grand nephews and grand nieces that are much older than me and they will call me uncle.
And as you already noticed that older people than you are called kuyas and ates. Also people the same age as your mother are called Tita or nanay and those the same age as your father Tito or tatay.
RESPECT to the elders is the norm. Please enjoy and stay happy in the Philippines.

I am from Filipino, Chinese, Spanish heritage and some, growing up in Oahu , they call us “potlucks” in the 80s meaning we came from different nations or countries! One thing for sure that I’ve learn from my ancestors is love, respect and honesty where I shared with my children. No swearing in my household also but freedom of expression is fine because I would like them to share what’s inside of their hearts and minds! I am a “potluck” American, lol 😂 it’s a normal sense of humor in our family. 6 generations from WW1, WW2,till today we’d contribute one in every family to join and serve in the military (family tradition). We didn’t force our children but they know how important this tradition to continues. Anyways, love your family especially the boys who have big personalities. we use that for "buhos "
in taking a bath, and at mealtimes don't ever drop a spoon or a fork coz there might be a visitor coming, and we don't sweep the dirt of the floor outside the door at nighttime becoz good luck may come out
    of the house.

Yeah, majority of Filipinos are not used to cuss word like for expression. We are taught that the cuss words are as a "hate" or bad word so it's forbidden to say those.
Once you heard a Filipino curse and is like shouting, that person is definitely angry already.
BUT, there are some Filipinos who cuss like for expression only, like when I first lived in Cavite area, my husband's family, most of them cusses even though they're just telling funny stories or what. It is their family culture I guess. I was really culture shock at first, but later on, I was able to cope up with their environment. I already understand their culture.
Nope, I still don't cuss (only if I'm really angry and me and my husband we're fighting 😅), but on simple and calm days, I kept my mouth "clean" at all times.. 😅

I'm illocano Filipino and we do keep all footwear outside, as for decorations and an alter, we never had those but we had family pictures, paintings and decorations from the states, Germany, Spain and Mexico.

We’ve always kept ours inside or at the inner garage door, it was always hard to remind visitors in the US to remove their shoes. Thank you for watching and ingat ‘til next time ✌🏼

This is what I always say to people I meet. Philippines doesn't really have nursing homes built around the country unlike other countries where nursing homes are pretty much everywhere. Yes we have hospices which are very specifically catered for specific age group. Thus, we tend to look after our parents and grandparents at home. It would seem like an obligation to look after them. That's why you'll find Filipino nurses are a lot more caring and compassionate toward the patients they look after as every Filipino have been exposed exposed to this practice at such a young age.

Ms Universe 2022 Rboney is a Filipino American. Her father is a Filipino 🇵🇭 and her mother is an American 🇺🇸. So same as you , an American woman married to a Filipino 🇵🇭 husband. You both stay forever 🙏❤️❤️❤️

Happy anniversary! Your boys are guapo! I'm married to a white girl and have beautiful twin boys. If there's anything my wife has learned married to a Filipino is to have fish sauce available all the time lol.

Never run out of patis 😂 hope your boys get to eat all the delicious Filipino foods too! It’s really cool being able to blend our two cultures together.

My two super fave places in "Manila" are Makati and BGC in Taguig. I was surprised to hear that you've been married for 16 years already! Both of you look young. Congrats and enjoy Pilipinas! :)
