FMA: Brotherhood is good. Likeable characters, great animation, a decent story with one or two good twists that evoke emotion. It has a kinda interesting fighting system and I think it is well paced. It's a good show with a broad appeal to people who like fantasy. Which is rare for anime which are mostly used to promote manga and light novels.
FMA has far, far superior music to Brotherhood. Like it's so god-tier that even if Brotherhood was better at literally everything else (it isn't), FMA would still take my vote. Brotherhood did some scenes better (giving Bradley more screen time & nuance), but FMA did so much right that I can't even.
I agree. Really liked FMA brotherhood when I watched it but it doesn’t deserve to be put on a pedestal as one of the best animes of all time. Solid story, characters and visuals all around. DS2 is an ok game but I wouldn’t compare the fans of that and fmab ever
Nah fma has some of the best characters in anime and some of the coolest fights with a great story with cool ideas. The alchemy system is cool, how it plays into the world is cool, I like it can get philosophical though it can get cheesy with it. I wouldn't raid myanimelist to keep it at the top but Hiromu Arakawa hit gold and didn't waste it. The only thing that brings it down is the 2004 anime did some stuff better imo and brotherhood assumes you watched the 2004 one so it zooms through some great content. Lowart has some of the best content on youtube covering it I'd recommend it if you like listening to someone talk about stuff they like even if you don't necessarily agree. Good is acceptable. Ok implies acceptable mediocrity which I don't think it belongs anywhere near.
FMA has a much better story than FMA:B. The characters, the plot motivations, really everything was more mysterious and interesting... except for the rushed ending, but that's not enough to bring it down to the typical shonen-fodder that FMA:B was.
"Masterpiece" used for FMA:B is kinda weird. And I prefer the OST from the original FMA anyway. It eventually falls apart from not knowing where to go without the manga, but the music is so nice that it kinda evens out with Brotherhood. Then again, I also think Berserk is just "good", so yeah lmao
@@Sam_T2000 I tried to rewatch Brotherhood a few years ago, only to realize that all of my favorite moments from the early parts of the series were actually from FMA 2003. The tone was darker, and the music more memorable, I have difficulty recommending Brotherhood to people over watching the original first.
Absolutely 👍 agree, better music better comedy every scene was gripping. You really felt the pain when they realized their mistake. Brotherhood was soulless.
I agree tho, FMAB is a 8/10 in my book maybe the best ''A tier'' anime now when we talk about Vinland Saga, Gintama and Haikyuu. They are my S tier. Subjectivity is so hard to grasp nowadays
I mean it's certainly the best complete adaptation of a long-running manga series I've ever seen. Not many animated series have managed to tell a long-form story in a way that's engrossing and maintains a solid baseline of quality from beginning to end like FMA:B. To me that is the one are in which it is genuinely exceptional.
Agreed, I usually dont watch anime, but my friend recommended the show and he never has recommended an anime to me before so i had very high hopes. Though when asked to watch the OG or brotherhood he simply responded with both. I liked both, both were really good, but there were episodes (especially at the start of brotherhood specifically) that I did not enjoy. It was also shocking how early on Lust was killed, and i kinda didnt enjoy how overpowered the guy who could explode things by snapping his fingers (forgot his name lol) was, but it was fun to see him fuck shit up. Now Evangelion, a show another friend recommended, was a show I started out enjoying, but ended up despising, and the movie that supposedly makes the ending better JUST MAKES IT WORSE. "EvErYoNe DiEd, ThE eNd" WTF YOU MEAN EVERYONE DIED ALL THE FRICKEN ANGELS WERE KILLED! WTF WAS THE POINT OF HUMAN INSTRUMENTALITY IF IT KILLED EVERYONE BUT SHINJI AND AZULA. I perfer the shows ending that leaves things confusing compared to that BS.
It seems that the majority of people prefer balanced shows that make few "mistakes" in comparison to shows that try to create something special and will stumble sometimes in the process. Sure FMB is a very good show in a general sense but i watched it once and i have no desire to watch it again unlike most of my favorites that i rewatch every few years.
my unpopular brotherhood opinion 1. They make everything chibi too much, it shouldn't be a comedic relief type of show. 2. They didn't want to re-tread too much of the original, like the liore episodes, so they rushed through those and treated them like a waste of time.
I agree with it being an 8/10. Though I do have a few bad things to say about it, honestly. First season has jank pacing and 4th and 5th suffer from plot contrivance, where characters act stupid for the sake of the plot.
_FMAB_ is like my baseline “good” anime… it’s perfectly enjoyable, but it’s also nothing special. I like it enough to have bought it on blu-ray, but it just barely made the cut 🤷🏻♂️
Is FMAB anyone's favorite show actually? Like I've seen people say it's good but I've never seen anyone put it as their favorite ever. I thought having it as the highest rated anime was just a meme
W now say Frieren is peak and i can sleep in peace. otherwise i have to wrote 5 paragraphs desteoying you and explaining why Frieren is objectively PEAK af
oh now i understand. Ratatoskr is out here trying to trigger me, personally.
Successfully alienated once again
Alienated. Goodbye
Lmao
Understandable, have a nice day
Dark Souls 2 is what resulted from the human transmutation Ed and Al did at the beginning

I remember watching streams of Armstrong cosplay PvP in DS2 in the tower. Good times, good times.
It's fine man. It's ok to be wrong sometimes

Id say it's more a 9/10. So top tier, best not best of a generation or masterpiece level
what is a masterpiece anime
Solid take. 8/10 means great if you're not ign. Also the Cough when Ratatoskr laughs is gone. Good shit.
Of all the times I defend DS2, THIS! is the one that gets turned into a clip?
FMAB is good in its pacing and the themes of science and faith. There are a few episodes that are boring though, so 9/10

7 years since I've seen any, in the middle of Mushishi no less
My ultimate hot take is The original Full Metal Alchemist anime is better than Brotherhood
why?
You aren't alone brother 🤝
I don't think it's that hard to argue. The music is flat out superior.

It does have Armstrong tho. Olivier Armstrong. What more do you need

Bruh, the point of instrumentalization is to kill everyone, didn't you pay attention?

Rare Rata W
The father is a very boring villain, he was better when he was the dwarf
Rata is racking up terrible anime takes it seems
Since you always love to proclaim that your greatest strength is complaining then you should make a video about complaining about FMA: Brotherhood.
I agree with it being an 8/10. Though I do have a few bad things to say about it, honestly. First season has jank pacing and 4th and 5th suffer from plot contrivance, where characters act stupid for the sake of the plot.
i can only hate if i know what a perfect anime to rata is
I guess what I need to know is what is ratas 10/10 anime
Wonder when "okay" became a negative descriptor. Sounds like saying "its a 5/10"
i agree 8/10.
Yooooooo. I've been saying this for years!! People called me crazy! T_T

Blasphemy
Monster or FMAB?
I’m with you, there’s just better anime, like from my pfp
Is FMAB anyone's favorite show actually? Like I've seen people say it's good but I've never seen anyone put it as their favorite ever. I thought having it as the highest rated anime was just a meme
Yes
this is only bc the ppl that talk the most about anime are mentally ill weirdos. they drown out anyone that isn't mentally fried.
Yep, mine
i’m due for a rewatch but it’s mine
W
now say Frieren is peak and i can sleep in peace. otherwise i have to wrote 5 paragraphs desteoying you and explaining why Frieren is objectively PEAK af
Frieren is a solid 7/10
Time to repent. Post your top 10 anime or perish for such blasphemy.
Me with Hunter x Hunter
Horrible take! It’s nearly flawless
Trigun is better than FMA every day of the week and twice as good on the weekend
_Quadgun_ is even better 👌
Most toptier Shows are better. FMA is basically vanilla ice cream, imagine crowning vanilla as the greatest peak ice cream can come up with wtf
