Parts for my KTM are pretty expensive I would like to get a vpower or another control box but they are 700 or so for one that actually works but I do have the Dakar version KTM 525 so it came with a nice steering dampner n few other things like a sticker kit I took off but nothing really for performance although it really doesn't need it only prob so far is running a cheap fuel filter on the 525 you can run carb dry from fuel restriction so upgrading that and adding a fuel rail pretty much solves that problem but I've seen dynos after putting on a quality aftermarket exhaust with no power gains but do u really need more power from a dirtbike that puts out 60 hp no you just need a way to manage the power n get it to the ground efficiently. And that's where the vpower or better vortex control box comes in.
That’s a once in a lifetime deal you could easily resale that quad for twice what you bought it for but I wouldn’t it would be a permanent part of my collection.
I guess if i he advanced the timing as you do when using higher octane gas, you might need to go down a size in jets. Because the combustion is more efficient. Othewise you wouldnt need to rejet. Because you use higher octane to stop it from detonating, when you have higher compression and early timing.
Some of that cost was just to replace worn out or broken parts for maintenance. Either way, Honda 250R's are still one of the best and sought after sport quads ever made. This one seems pretty tight. One of the best purchases made.
listen to this guy about the fuel..if you run 93 in it it will detonate and blow up. miss my 250r. it was built as well.hard to kick and had 50 hp...miss it

dude ive had and raced the same 250r since 2001 . ive always ran kultz and vp110 24:1 . I do xc races now ive got over 100 hours on my wossner piston with still 140psi of compression . the 250r can be the most reliable quad if its built right .

That's about right for early 2000s I just built a kfx450 and it cost me 7500 just in parts , internal motor work and full suspension setup ars-fx xc a arms full exit shocks were 2200 I found out quick building is a lot more expensive than buying an it becomes more of a nostalgia thing after the time goes into it so I know how he feels not wanting to sell that trx but you definitely got one hell of a steal great job love the videos

Just as a warning those things aren’t made to be wide open down the road all day, it’s a quad made for Mx and xc so it’s a track bike u wanna go fast on the road with a quad a banshee is fine the motors were made for that, take proper care of them or else ur gonna blow the motor or break something quick... they can be very reliable bikes if u don’t be stupid on it
Pipe reeds and filter means exactly what it says, it’s got an exhaust different reeds and a different air filter... they wake up a lot with porting, they aren’t too bad stock and definitely won’t power wheelie every gear, 4th is about it I have a stock motor... the bigger aftermarket cylinders and good porting they make crazy Hp
Joe I urge you to keep this quad. The 250r's are hard to come by and are becoming very very expensive to buy you got this at a steal 250r around me go for $3500 to $4,500 in that condition... that is the greatest and most legendary ATV ever built... there's nothing better than a Honda trx250r... my brother bought a trx250r when he was 15 years old and he still owns it to this day and he's 31 he will not sell it
That's such a good deal!!!! I just sold my beautiful stock banshee for 6k!!!!! I only paid 3k for it 5 years ago.. rode the fuck outta it kept it real clean tho and sold it for 6 k !! 3 k come up but then again 2 strokes be real expensive now a days
Lord makes custom pipes thats why you can't just buy them on Amazon etc.. but they need to be the smaller pipe to get the most hp out of the 250r with a 309kit you can get around 56hp out of them they are good machines

Lol your not serious I’ve got a kdx250 from 89 with I’m sure thousands of hours on it had it for 25 years and ride it hard every day just use good oil and open them up every once in awhile just don’t live at 8000rpm you’ll be fine
@@jjp1117 big difference between a non- competition trail ridden kdx and an all out race ridden two stroke motocross bike. It's apples to oranges between a kdx and a kx, just in where the power curve comes in and how much the kdx will suffer being lugged due to it's longer stroked engine and heavier flywheel. You are also the exception to the rule in how you ride and treat your bike. If you think I'm wrong, just go on Facebook marketplace and see how many 2 strokes are for sale and the add says "ran great, just needs new piston and rings". The truth is it needs a whole new top end. It's claped out and needed a piston and rings a hundred hours prior. Now the cylinder is scored all to shit and wallowed out like an egg because the wrist pin has been shot for 50 hours and it's no longer capable of building compression. Remember, a 2 stroke runs the strongest right before it blows up. A piston, rings and upper bearings are far cheaper than a complete top end. If you check your service intervals as posted, you'll see that these are considered to be regular wear items on a two stroke and even on modern 4 stroke motocross bikes that make their power and torque at high rpm's and whose jugs and heads cost even more to replace if damaged.
I wonder if hes going to open up the engine? i would... Shit i would send it to CT or something let them open it up and check it out fix and replace as needed...

Check your cdi on that thing if it’s after market that’s your kick back problem. You need to get oem any year.

No 2 stroke would ever "blow up" if people treated the piston and rings like the 40 to 50 hour maintenance items that they are intended to be.
