Wow... not sure why I never thought of just leaving the valve base in and replacing the top with parts from a new valve... thank you. Huge time saver!!!

#2 If you cannot find any valves between your home and the sprinkler valve box, chances are you will have to get into the crawl space under your home and look for one there. There has to be one somewhere.. nobody would connect sprinkler valves directly to a houses water line and not put a shut off valve in. Call the sprinkler guy or plumber who installed your system and ask them to show you where its at. Hope this helps

#1 I'm assuming you have a sprinkler system that runs off of your house water.. right? if so... There should be a 4 or 6 inch PVC pipe sticking out of the ground somewhere near your valves that contains a main shutoff valve (MSOV) or right next to the house where the water comes out of the house. There should also be a back flow preventer(BFP) between that MSOV and the sprinkler valve box right before the valve box. the BFP should have at least one valve on it that can be turned off. Continued..

It's rarely cheaper to buy an entire valve to replace one of the two most commonly damaged internal parts. Waste money, plastic, etc. Diaphragms and seals are available separately for nearly all major brands.

Very informative video! I have an 11-zone system and when any zone is engaged, the same zone turns on - I assume this means that it's the first valve that the water hits that won't close. I feel comfortable doing this repair, but the only problem I have is how to determine the "model" of my valve - I'd rather not have to pay hundreds to fix my system but I can't find any markings on the valve to make sure I'm ordering the correct part. Any ideas?

Take the top of the valve off and take it to the sprinkler store they can match it up then tell you what valve it is

How do we find the Rain Bird valve model number so we can accurately replace parts?

Have a valve that will NOT CLOSE. Replaced solenoid & diaphragm, still open. There is water seeping from one of the 8 screws on the bonnet, could this be the problem?

Hi, I have a short in my system. When I run program the waters all cycle no problem thru each zone with no problem, but when all cycles are complete, zone 3 starts up again and won't shut off to the point I have to turn off water complete . I swapped boxes to a rain master thinking it was the original box but nope, same problem. Is what you just showed my problem? Thanks

This valve would not shut off once the sprinkler clock turned it on. Could be same problem with your valve when the other valves come on the pressure decreases so it doesn't appear to be on but when the other valve shut off it comes back on because the pressure is up probably needs the same repair I did on this

My Sprinkler vavle is exactly the same thing as yours. Mine has a crack in the exact same place. But I can't seem to find the replacement vavle? What kind it is? or Model number you bought? I have checked both HD and Lowes and can't seem to find the same thing. Any help would be great!

How old is the valve and do you know the model? HD and Lowes don't carry most Toro irrigation parts in store.

that's an old system you've got there. I don't think I've stumbled across a system where you screw the solenoid on with screws on each side.

trial and error till you find the right one by turning each one off individually or listen for the water flow

I had a sprinkler head location leaking. I dug it up and found the pipe had busted. I replaced the broken section and now the zone (zone 2) runs when the system is "all off" When I run each zone as a test they run OK but Zone 2 still dribbles. When I go to all off Zone 2 still runs. HELP?

Put in a check valve in that head but remember that sprinklers are ment to drain so if you put a check valve in that head than its going to be the next head up from the valve.

you dont even say what brand or model of the valve, if you pause the video just at the right moment you can see a TORO logo on top of valve, so its a toro valve. you freaking should of given us that info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a very old toro valve and very hard to find parts and model, number, why cant you give out that info, why bother making a video without that important info!!!!!!!!!!!!!! htis is a 250/260 series toro valve if anyone really wants to learn something
