  • So You Were Just Diagnosed with Kidney Disease | Top 10 Things to Do | A Kidney Doctor Explains
As a kidney doctor (nephrologist), I diagnose hundreds of people with kidney disease every year. If you were recently diagnosed or if you have a diagnosis of kidney disease, there some important things to do to help protect your kidneys and prevent your kidney disease from getting worse.
To buy my book: The Cooking Doc's Kidney-Healthy Cooking. E-book and paperback available for purchase here: www.thecookingdoc.co/kidney-h...
Remember, even though I am a nephrologist, I am NOT your nephrologist so make sure you talk about your specific situation with your kidney doctor.

Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”.
The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way. I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.
Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and UA-cam sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 UA-cam subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

You have no idea how much relief and stress you took off of me in just 40 seconds! Im 32 years old and was diagnosed with type 1 dibetes when i was 9. I was diagnosed with stage 3a diabetic kidney disease two days ago, thought my life was over, and loss the will to keep living. It is so comforting to hear that I may never need dialysis or a kidney transplant. My eGFR is 54. Hopefully with losing weight, managing my diabetes (A1C was 5.8), and blood pressure will stop any progression. Again, thank you so much!!!

Who has time to do all that crap when you do dialysis 3 times a week 3 and a half hours each session. I currently am dealing with severe depression, ocd, and anxiety so just getting to dialysis is daunting! I will be dead by the time they find a kidney.

Mum has recently lost her mother, her younger brother (and only has one younger sibling left) not long after and her dad is also deceased, telling her would absolutely be devastating knowing she may lose her child. Have decided to go out anyway, and just put up with the pain, and make a real concerned effort during the next two weeks in order to bring it down, but what I want to know is - what IS kidney disease. Everyone is using this term, but no-one has actually explained what it is? I have a slightly reduced kidney function, (am aged 62) but does this mean I have kidney disease? He sent Jesus to save us from the penalty of sin (eternal death) and all its side effects, one being ill health. Salvation through Jesus gives us eternal life and prosperity in this life. So don't despair and feel hopeless. Believe in Jesus, believe that he died and was raised from the dead. Ask him into your life and put your trust in him.
