We need more open-minded doctors like Ken Berry and David Unwin. Most doctors are arrogant SOB's that write scripts and tell you to count calories and exercise more. If more doctors become truly interested in their patients well being like these two doctors, humans will get healthier. This has been a very informative discussion.
As an RN with decades of nursing experience, I can honestly say that medicine is a BUSINESS. Physicians may initially go to med school for a chance to improve patients' health and thus, improve their lives. But I witnessed MDs who are just 'selling' the continued use of medication and treatment. Think of it this way: a car insurance company makes lots of money after their initial sale - those insured people become repeat business every time the customer returns to pay the premiums. The agent really does not have to do anything else. Easy money. When a patient has diabetes, they return twice a year to get their meds renewed, get their latest A1C number and get any further instructions. And remember, the MD is under pressure to see their patients in under 6 minutes - the set time limit in order to see the next pt and make the desired profit margin. You are the profit in the BUSINESS of medicine.
Want to add a big thank you, 18 months ago my primary care Dr told me my A1C WAS 7.4 and wanted be to start medication. The nurse assigned to show me how to test blood sugar, told me that becoming diabetic was just something that happened with age( I’m on the backside of my 70’s). 3 days on meds, severe stomach crams and diarrhea told me to stop meds, I then started searching the web for better information and found your site. Yesterday I got my A1C results of 5.4, this was done through proper diet.
I worked as a well champ in work actually I volunteered. I printed off the teaspoon chart and put it up on the canteen wall. I was made to take it down and was sent posters from the wellness team Which were basically adverts for slimming companies. It is difficult to get through to people when you are told to issue the food pyramid or repeat the eat less move more slogan.

Yes, I found these today, and I am shocked! I downloaded the photos/posters and sent it to family members ! Hope they will act on it. I am applying these on myself and was able to avoid medication! My Doctor do not teach nutrition at all , most GP's are ignorant in the role of nutrition in the overall health of their patients.
I am a psychologist and I am directing my clients (who want to hear it) to do their research and make the connection between mental health problems, diabetes and diet.
I tapered my Pristiq 100mg (I discovered that I was experiencing mild serotonin syndrome after my dose was increased from 50mg) over a 6 year period (no more than 10% reduction of the previous dose about once a month, with longer holds during times of other health issues) after having been on antidepressants for over 25 years. I started low carb 1 month before I got to 0mg when I was diagnosed with diabetes (which is now in remission). Unfortunately I'm not able to tell if changing my diet has made any difference; but I'm definitely glad that I did with the assumption that it can help mental health. But because of all the various metabolic issues that are improved with cutting out the carbs (my ALT went from 45 down to 13, I've lost more than 20% of my weight, my sleep quality has improved, blood pressure has reduced), it would make sense that changing diet would be beneficial for mental health as well. One annoying issues I have is getting cortisol spikes during the night time (I'm assuming it's when I think something which causes stress), which feel similar to hot flashes (I'm 65 F and well past menopause).
Yes! I am on some schizophrenia meds but never had it...some ptsd no schizophrenia. The side effects of 4 prescriptions said diabetes online. TRAZADONE& Geodon is all since I'm borderline diabetes now and gained 36 lbs since I started taking prescriptions. I feel like I'm happy but insulin resistance and weight is my enemy now. I learned from PhD in nutrition/diabetes treatment that fruit may be what cures me. I'm gonna try it. If my doctor prescribes metformin I will refuse to take it since it causes more metabolic problems.

Dr Ken Berry, the great translator, saved my bacon with his UA-cam videos describing in ways I could understand, why carbohydrates were killing me. This video is a great reinforcement for my lifestyle of beef butter, bacon and eggs. The boredom of this food menu is a great trade for the boredom of pharmacies, doctors offices, dentist offices and laboratories. And my energy at 66 years of age is through the roof.
They are some of the most unhealthy foods you can eat 🤦. You are greatly increasing your chances of getting cardiovascular disease and a whole lot of other health problems eating beef, butter, bacon and eggs. There's so much science on this that it shouldn't even be debatable.
I learned years ago that doctors only get a quick course on nutrition. They are basically trained by the pharm companies in what pharmaceuticals can be used in a particular situation.
I figured all this out 25 years ago for myself. I lost over 100 pounds, had to cut back on the medication as I needed it less. I kept a pretty good log of blood sugar and determined that weightlifting had a longer effect than aerobic activity. Went from not being able to run across my back yard to being able to out run my 12 year old son at the time. My eventual problem was not being able to keep the weight off. I’m working on that now with a very low carb diet, and trying to stay active.
Dr. Berry, I saw your post on FB about the beautiful photo of Neisha and Bonnie. You had turned off comments so I couldn't say what I thought. I don't know that I've ever seen a more beautiful photo of mother and child, ever. It hurt my heart that anyone would say anything negative. Neisha, you are a beautiful human. Thank you for interviewing Dr. Unwin. He validated the information that has taken me many years to find and impliment. I am the only member of my family to be surviving diabetes, and I am the only one to have gone very low carb in my diet. My mom, dad and sister had a mindset that as long as they took their medicine they could eat whatever they wanted. I may not always be 100% in my diet, due to sugar addiction, however, I am able to keep my A1c at 5.2 . Thank you to Dr. Unwin as well for his time and expertise.
Technically speaking everyone can eat whatever they want. They may not live long even with medicine, kind of hard to outlive the consequences of some decisions,
@@KismetWLS Yes, however when your sister dies an agonizing and painful death at age 60 due to diabetc complications, it is hard to understand. She could have had a better quality of life and may have lived long enough to see her childern get marred and have children of their own. I am a fighter and I want to have the best quality of life that I can. Therefore, I choose to eat in a way that my sugar numbers are kept in line with keeping my A1c in the normal range. We all must make those decisions for ourselves.

We now know the mechanism by which fat causes insulin resistance. There's nothing wrong with sugar providing you don't overeat calories and providing it is in the form of whole foods such as fruit and vegeatables. People have reversed their diabetes by cutting out animal produce, which is largely terrible for human health, and eating whole food vegetables and fruits.
I had the immense pleasure of hearing Dr Unwin speak, last month, at the PHC annual conference. As a General Practitioner, he has achieved remarkable results, with no additional resources, saved a significant portion of his medication budget (for which his practice receives no recognition or reward), and stood up for the truth that he has observed. His humble and honest approach is remarkable and to be applauded.
Isn't it strange that no reward is given to doctors who's practices help diabetics get on the right path. But reward them for a high rate of vaccinations. People can see now nutrition means nothing to the authorities. They just want to pump drugs. To make profit. ..Our health care in UK has gone down hill .
I went on super strict keto for 2 yrs my A1c dropped to 4.1…. I had an eye stroke after covid. I fell into a terrible depression. I ate carbs non stop and expected my A1c would be 14 again after 18 months of binging. I gained 100lbs… but astonishingly my A1c was 5.1. My doctor told me I had cured myself of diabetes. I’m back on strict nearly carnivore keto. Deep down I know if I kept eating I’d become diabetic again plus I just like life better eating a proper human diet.😊
This is a great show with a great doctor when I was diagnosed with type two diabetes thyroid my blood sugar was 500 my cholesterol was 400 and my thyroid was in the clinically dead range the diabetic nurse told me you have two choices for Vito‘s funeral parlor pick out your casket in your plot plan because I can’t help you out because more than likely you’re not gonna listen to me so after she told me that I went to Marathon sports bill Rogers running book in a custom fitted pair of running sneakers and started running and took off 62 pounds and got off most of my medication‘s if it wasn’t for her telling me that I probably would have serious Complications from the disease you’re doing an excellent job Dr. Ken Berry keep up the good work

I’m falling in love with dr berry and neisha! With everything I’m learning from them and everyone else is amazing!!! I was diagnosed 8 years ago with ibd. I was told to add fiber to my diet. I was diagnosed with hypertension 3 years ago I’m currently on 3 blood pressure medication. Then 4 months ago I was diagnosed having high cholesterol. I’ve been watching them for 3 months now and finally started my journey 2 weeks ago.I stopped taking fiber 4 months after my gastroenterologist told me too. It just made my symptoms worse. Still taking blood pressure medication but stopped my statins (against) dr orders. After starting the carnivore and cleaning out my cabinets. My blood pressure drops really low sometimes. But sometimes it’s high. I’m so thankful for everyone here❤

Dr Urwin, I love your sugar charts. I'm going to include these charts to support my letter to my daughter's school. School lunches in the UK are loaded with sugar- I've spoken to the Head of the school about this before but she seems literally petrified to do anything about it- kids are addicted. Why haven't you included meat on your sugar charts please? My daughter takes a packed lunch of steak strips, smoked salmon, prawns and chicken and cheese and a hard boiled egg with a two squares of 85% chocolate for her dessert. This amounts to about two teaspoons of sugar- can we please have another chart showing eggs, cheese and meats

Today I got home from hospital after a Myasthenia Gravis crisis. I was admitted with acute shortness of breath. I do not have diabetes. In my room of 6, 3 ladies had diabetes. For 4 days I have watched these ladies being given several tubs of orange juice, lots of fruit, 3 teaspoons of sugar in tea and high carb meals. All of them were given meds when their blood sugar went up, which it always did. I have been horrified. One lady got her sugar down to 7, but after the diabetic nurse gave her fruit it was then 20. Also within 15 minutes of having 2-3 tubs of juice at breakfast, all 3 were lying down, sleeping, absolutely knocked out.
I had a hba1c of 14.5 i have dropped it to 4 in 3 months. Lost weight went from 86 to sitting at 70 kgs.i am stating to stay around the 6 after eating tea test hr after that.eggs mushroom meat.penaunts cheese greens .it can be very stressful but meat dose not spike my bloods.theae guys are doing very wel to help people low carbs
These real doctors putting their 'reputations' on the line for questioning accepted Rockefeller medicine - are true heroes. I was on 8 drugs with 3 more coming, turned into no drugs. I was told I would need to take these drugs for the rest of my life.

Just found your channel. Thank God. Went to ER two weeks ago with shortness of breath and weakness. Admitted to ICU with DKA. A1C was 10.5. Absolutely no idea.
Thank you Dr. Berry and Dr. Unwin for your informative videos. I have been following low carb for 4 weeks now lowering my blood sugar from an average of 170 to under 120. I intend to keep going in order lose weight and lower my HBP.
It's worth it. TIP: when you see a food that you like (but is not low carb) don't think about it in terms of what it tastes like and that you miss it, think about it in terms of how many carbs it has. I've been low carb now for 19 months. Once you get fat adapted it is amazing how you don't get the hunger pangs a couple of hours after eating and then you can defer the food by a few hours if needed or desired whereas before I had to eat within the half an hour if it was a meal time. And I no longer crave carbs and sugars, so I'm no longer a slave to food. I've had to reduce my blood pressure drug down to a very low dose; I'm staying on it because I have back and knee issues and have ongoing mild discomfort most of the time and sometimes pain and I think that these might be causing the blood pressure to be a little bit higher. Thank you for confirming my own theory. I refused to take any diabetic tablets and use food to improve my so call " Type 2 diabetic". I stop sugar, eat lean diet, carb free " . My blood sugar now ranges between 6 - 6.4. Occasionally it goes down to 5.6.
To 'reverse' DT2, to me, means reset to healthy A1c, same as non diabetic persons. That would be 4.5 to 5.0. While >5.0 may be 'normal' in today's society where most are pre-diabetic, it is not to be confused with optimal / healthy. If DT2 long enough, many of us decline in pancreas' beta cells and insulin production. This is me, despite OMAD / IF for 5+ years, mostly carnivore / ketovore, my A1c has ranged 5.6 to 5.2, mostly 5.2 the last few years. This is understandable, given my fasting, and stimulated insulin and C peptide levels are the very bottom edge of the range specified by LabCorp. There has been no improvement, per LabCorp, over the years since I began getting those labs. I consider the elevated A1c to be residual damage to my beta cells, from decades of eating ultra processed foods. Still, 5.2 beats the heck out of what it would be if I still ate that carbage. Thanks Dr. Berry for all you do in helping get the word out.
i loved that he actually listened to his patient. How many doctors ignore their patients carte blanche? You need an engineering mind to be a doctor, but most doctors should have taken a language degree instead of medicine (i'm not denigrating language degrees)

I see an Endocrinology doctor, he's told me that if I get my weight down I can quit taking metformin and thyroid medicine; as far as I can see, he's not leaving me on any med I won't need. 🥰
Found Dr Unwin about two years ago and later downloaded the "teaspoon equivalent" this helped me understand the GI and GL. Great interview love doctors who can admit there is a better way that focuses mainly on the food we eat and not just medications.
The American Diabetes Society has too many too many Ads. Blaming cholesterol for arterial plaque is like blaming band-aids for cuts. The body's immune system deposits cholesterol to repair damaged blood vessels. The damage isn't cause by the cholesterol; it is caused by smoking, high blood pressure, chronic inflammation, infection, and physical injury. People on a carnivore diet will likely have a higher LDL level -- which is NOT dangerous -- but a lower triglyceride level and a higher HDL level -- which is highly beneficial. Cholesterol is necessary for the brain, cell membranes, hormone production, and immune health. But cholesterol is also necessary for producing bile. Bile is necessary to break down fat, and meat is high in fat, not just protein. Higher meat (fat) levels require more bile, and the higher LDL is to be expected.
I'm in UK, the clinicians aggressively attack people eating low carb or keto, Hubby and I have experienced this, so have others in our fb groups. Low trigs, high HDL low Hb1ac, are all ignored! They focus on the high LDL. The Lipid clinic also want you on statins! I wish it was different.
When I was a kid, my local deli restaurant had what they called their "Diet Plate". I was basically a burger minus the bun and with cottage cheese and a little bit of fruit on the side instead of fries. This was the 60s. I started of crock guts could not eat at the start on metformin. I have lost about 15 kgs tho eating healthy now

Dr Ken Berry, the great translator, saved my bacon with his UA-cam videos describing in ways I could understand, why carbohydrates were killing me. This video is a great reinforcement for my lifestyle of beef butter, bacon and eggs. The boredom of this food menu is a great trade for the boredom of pharmacies, doctors offices, dentist offices and laboratories. And my energy at 66 years of age is through the roof.

They are some of the most unhealthy foods you can eat 🤦. You are greatly increasing your chances of getting cardiovascular disease and a whole lot of other health problems eating beef, butter, bacon and eggs. There's so much science on this that it shouldn't even be debatable.
I learned years ago that doctors only get a quick course on nutrition. They are basically trained by the pharm companies in what pharmaceuticals can be used in a particular situation.
When he said his life's transformed and the joy as a doctor made me tear up a little.
I figured all this out 25 years ago for myself. I lost over 100 pounds, had to cut back on the medication as I needed it less. I kept a pretty good log of blood sugar and determined that weightlifting had a longer effect than aerobic activity. Went from not being able to run across my back yard to being able to out run my 12 year old son at the time. My eventual problem was not being able to keep the weight off. I’m working on that now with a very low carb diet, and trying to stay active.

Thank you for interviewing Dr. Unwin. He validated the information that has taken me many years to find and impliment. I am the only member of my family to be surviving diabetes, and I am the only one to have gone very low carb in my diet. My mom, dad and sister had a mindset that as long as they took their medicine they could eat whatever they wanted. I may not always be 100% in my diet, due to sugar addiction, however, I am able to keep my A1c at 5.2 . Thank you to Dr. Unwin as well for his time and expertise.
Technically speaking everyone can eat whatever they want. They may not live long even with medicine, kind of hard to outlive the consequences of some decisions,
@@KismetWLS Yes, however when your sister dies an agonizing and painful death at age 60 due to diabetc complications, it is hard to understand. She could have had a better quality of life and may have lived long enough to see her childern get marred and have children of their own. I am a fighter and I want to have the best quality of life that I can. Therefore, I choose to eat in a way that my sugar numbers are kept in line with keeping my A1c in the normal range. We all must make those decisions for ourselves.

We now know the mechanism by which fat causes insulin resistance. There's nothing wrong with sugar providing you don't overeat calories and providing it is in the form of whole foods such as fruit and vegeatables. People have reversed their diabetes by cutting out animal produce, which is largely terrible for human health, and eating whole food vegetables and fruits.
I had the immense pleasure of hearing Dr Unwin speak, last month, at the PHC annual conference. As a General Practitioner, he has achieved remarkable results, with no additional resources, saved a significant portion of his medication budget (for which his practice receives no recognition or reward), and stood up for the truth that he has observed. His humble and honest approach is remarkable and to be applauded.
Isn't it strange that no reward is given to doctors who's practices help diabetics get on the right path. But reward them for a high rate of vaccinations. People can see now nutrition means nothing to the authorities. They just want to pump drugs. To make profit. ..Our health care in UK has gone down hill .
I went on super strict keto for 2 yrs my A1c dropped to 4.1…. I had an eye stroke after covid. I fell into a terrible depression. I ate carbs non stop and expected my A1c would be 14 again after 18 months of binging. I gained 100lbs… but astonishingly my A1c was 5.1. My doctor told me I had cured myself of diabetes. I’m back on strict nearly carnivore keto. Deep down I know if I kept eating I’d become diabetic again plus I just like life better eating a proper human diet.😊

This is a great show with a great doctor when I was diagnosed with type two diabetes thyroid my blood sugar was 500 my cholesterol was 400 and my thyroid was in the clinically dead range the diabetic nurse told me you have two choices for Vito‘s funeral parlor pick out your casket in your plot plan because I can’t help you out because more than likely you’re not gonna listen to me so after she told me that I went to Marathon sports bill Rogers running book in a custom fitted pair of running sneakers and started running and took off 62 pounds and got off most of my medication‘s if it wasn’t for her telling me that I probably would have serious Complications from the disease you’re doing an excellent job Dr. Ken Berry keep up the good work

I’m falling in love with dr berry and neisha! With everything I’m learning from them and everyone else is amazing!!! I was diagnosed 8 years ago with ibd. I was told to add fiber to my diet. I was diagnosed with hypertension 3 years ago I’m currently on 3 blood pressure medication. Then 4 months ago I was diagnosed having high cholesterol. I’ve been watching them for 3 months now and finally started my journey 2 weeks ago.I stopped taking fiber 4 months after my gastroenterologist told me too. It just made my symptoms worse. Still taking blood pressure medication but stopped my statins (against) dr orders. After starting the carnivore and cleaning out my cabinets. My blood pressure drops really low sometimes. But sometimes it’s high. I’m so thankful for everyone here❤

Dr Urwin, I love your sugar charts. I'm going to include these charts to support my letter to my daughter's school. School lunches in the UK are loaded with sugar- I've spoken to the Head of the school about this before but she seems literally petrified to do anything about it- kids are addicted. Why haven't you included meat on your sugar charts please? My daughter takes a packed lunch of steak strips, smoked salmon, prawns and chicken and cheese and a hard boiled egg with a two squares of 85% chocolate for her dessert. This amounts to about two teaspoons of sugar- can we please have another chart showing eggs, cheese and meats

Today I got home from hospital after a Myasthenia Gravis crisis. I was admitted with acute shortness of breath. I do not have diabetes. In my room of 6, 3 ladies had diabetes. For 4 days I have watched these ladies being given several tubs of orange juice, lots of fruit, 3 teaspoons of sugar in tea and high carb meals. All of them were given meds when their blood sugar went up, which it always did. I have been horrified. One lady got her sugar down to 7, but after the diabetic nurse gave her fruit it was then 20. Also within 15 minutes of having 2-3 tubs of juice at breakfast, all 3 were lying down, sleeping, absolutely knocked out.
It's shocking how hospitals "treat"diabetes by giving excess carbohydrates, then a drug to reverse the "treatment "
They had brownies and coke at the hospital after everyone's radiation treatment for strength

Just found your channel. Thank God. Went to ER two weeks ago with shortness of breath and weakness. Admitted to ICU with DKA. A1C was 10.5. Absolutely no idea.
My boss's A1C was 10.8 and she managed to get it down to 5.5 with only diet.
Start watching all these videos and go lo-carb. Then after you have had 3 weeks doing that, start watching all the videos again!!

Thank you Dr. Berry and Dr. Unwin for your informative videos. I have been following low carb for 4 weeks now lowering my blood sugar from an average of 170 to under 120. I intend to keep going in order lose weight and lower my HBP.
It's worth it. TIP: when you see a food that you like (but is not low carb) don't think about it in terms of what it tastes like and that you miss it, think about it in terms of how many carbs it has. I've been low carb now for 19 months. Once you get fat adapted it is amazing how you don't get the hunger pangs a couple of hours after eating and then you can defer the food by a few hours if needed or desired whereas before I had to eat within the half an hour if it was a meal time. And I no longer crave carbs and sugars, so I'm no longer a slave to food. I've had to reduce my blood pressure drug down to a very low dose; I'm staying on it because I have back and knee issues and have ongoing mild discomfort most of the time and sometimes pain and I think that these might be causing the blood pressure to be a little bit higher. Wishing you all the best.

Thank you for confirming my own theory. I refused to take any diabetic tablets and use food to improve my so call " Type 2 diabetic". I stop sugar, eat lean diet, carb free " . My blood sugar now ranges between 6 - 6.4. Occasionally it goes down to 5.6.

To 'reverse' DT2, to me, means reset to healthy A1c, same as non diabetic persons. That would be 4.5 to 5.0. While >5.0 may be 'normal' in today's society where most are pre-diabetic, it is not to be confused with optimal / healthy. If DT2 long enough, many of us decline in pancreas' beta cells and insulin production. This is me, despite OMAD / IF for 5+ years, mostly carnivore / ketovore, my A1c has ranged 5.6 to 5.2, mostly 5.2 the last few years. This is understandable, given my fasting, and stimulated insulin and C peptide levels are the very bottom edge of the range specified by LabCorp. There has been no improvement, per LabCorp, over the years since I began getting those labs. I consider the elevated A1c to be residual damage to my beta cells, from decades of eating ultra processed foods. Still, 5.2 beats the heck out of what it would be if I still ate that carbage. Thanks Dr. Berry for all you do in helping get the word out.
i loved that he actually listened to his patient. How many doctors ignore their patients carte blanche? You need an engineering mind to be a doctor, but most doctors should have taken a language degree instead of medicine (i'm not denigrating language degrees)

Found Dr Unwin about two years ago and later downloaded the "teaspoon equivalent" this helped me understand the GI and GL. Great interview love doctors who can admit there is a better way that focuses mainly on the food we eat and not just medications.
The American Diabetes Society has too many too many Ads. I realy cannot recommend it to my T2D friends as even I as enthusiastic as I am to you Dr. Berry, becauae even i could not get to the meat of what you present. What were you and Professor Bikman thinking???

Blaming cholesterol for arterial plaque is like blaming band-aids for cuts. The body's immune system deposits cholesterol to repair damaged blood vessels. The damage isn't cause by the cholesterol; it is caused by smoking, high blood pressure, chronic inflammation, infection, and physical injury. People on a carnivore diet will likely have a higher LDL level -- which is NOT dangerous -- but a lower triglyceride level and a higher HDL level -- which is highly beneficial. Cholesterol is necessary for the brain, cell membranes, hormone production, and immune health. But cholesterol is also necessary for producing bile. Bile is necessary to break down fat, and meat is high in fat, not just protein. Higher meat (fat) levels require more bile, and the higher LDL is to be expected.

I'm in UK, the clinicians aggressively attack people eating low carb or keto, Hubby and I have experienced this, so have others in our fb groups. Low trigs, high HDL low Hb1ac, are all ignored! They focus on the high LDL. The Lipid clinic also want you on statins! I wish it was different.

When I was a kid, my local deli restaurant had what they called their "Diet Plate". I was basically a burger minus the bun and with cottage cheese and a little bit of fruit on the side instead of fries. This was the 60s. Hello, fellow old person :)
