In February of 2021 I was told that I was fully diabetic (type 2) when my morning test came in at 8.1. My doctor wanted to put me on meds and I refused, I asked him to give me 6 months to reverse it, reluctantly he gave me 4 months. I went on keto and intermitten fasting and in 4 months my a1c test came in at 4.9. He was shocked! He told me I am diabetic for life and that diabetes cannot be reversed and asked me to retest in 3 months which again came in at 4.9. One year later my diet is still low carb and I am still at A1c 4.9. I will keep this up for as long as I can...
4 months ago I started a strict no sugar diet. No artificial sweeteners, no processed food,no fruit. I only ate meat and vegetables eggs fish and cheese. I ate 2 meals a day with a 17 / 7 IF window.. I have stage 3 kidney disease with a egfr of 51and 1.5 creatinine. My blood tests came back yesterday and showed a creatine level of 1.1 and egfr of 67 effectively reversing my kidney disease. My a1c went from 6 to 5.1. I also lost 30 lbs along the way. I still have a way to go and will update in another 4 months
Congratulations! I also do a no carb diet save for a bite occaisionally or honey on half a slice of very seeded whole wheat. Tons of greens, healthy fats, all the keto unprocessed proteins, cheese, cream, etc. Lost 20lbs in 7 weeks after being addicted to carbs. A1c went from 10.1, my wake up call, to mid 5s, with FBS of 327, to 90s ranging to 120s. I follow diets plans od Dr. Sten Ekberg on you tube.
TREATING THE DISEASE NOT THE INFECTION is too wise for most doctors to follow, as PHARMA depends on drugs to hide your SYMPTOMS, not cure the INITIAL DISEASE, which is usually obesity/hyperglucose diets.
Fully agree with you, but strange is that this doesn't work to everybody, of course that I'm talking about my self, for me the only thing that works it's having meals every 2 to 3 hours. I already try a lot's of thing including fasting like Dr Fung talks but it doesn't work, do you know why, I don't.
@@FilipeJorgeSilva I am not sure what you mean by "it doesn't work", but I suppose you have heard about "miraculous" intermittent fasting, and you just decided one day to give it a go. After years and years of consuming high carbs diet, of course you will get crazy hungry after 24hrs and won't be able to continue. You have to understand there is a preparation process, which starts by reducing carbs for a certain period of time, until your body switches from glucose burning to fat burning mode, until you notice you spontaneously stop craving food and go naturally longer and longer periods of time without food as your appetite decrease. This period, called adaptation, usually last between 4-6 weeks or longer. Only after the adaptation phase your body is ready for prolonged fast. As long as you continue with low carb regime, you can repeat fast as often as you wish without any preparation, or keep going with daily intermittent fasting (like 18:6 i.e.) There are many articles and videos about IF and adaptation process. Study it before you declare defeat! Best of luck!
Dr. Fung’s presentations have been a key in my journey of reversing diabetes. Three years ago the test strip came in at 220 and a1c was over 11. After a month of intermittent fasting and 2-3 months of diet I lost over 35lbs, blood sugar was 90 and a1c came down to 6. I just cut out sugar and carbs, didn’t even excercise. So yes it definetely works.
Last June I was 300 pounds, diabetic type 2 on insulin, injecting 350 units per day. Heading directly into a total disaster. I'm diabetic since 25 years, 10 years on insulin. I tried diets, exercises, calorie counting. Nothing worked. About 10 years ago, I was told by my doctor that losing enough weight could maybe get me rid of diabetes. I was gaining weight year after year during this pandemic. So I decided to figure out a diet for my condition. I included low carbohydrate diet, high protein, fasting and after a while added exercises. In 6 months, I lost 100 pounds, I'm totally off insulin since the last 10 days. For my doctor and nurse that follow me, it's a miracle. 1 month ago I found this video. The theories of Dr Jason Fung goes exactly in the same way I figured. That the problem was insulin and not diabetes. High blood sugar is the symptom. Dr Fung, you are blessed. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your dedication to diabetics and instigating hope to those who suffer from this terrible disease.
I've read Obesity Code, Cancer Code, and Diabetes Code already. Just here to give my support and a thumbs up to the man who saved my life. I don't have a belly anymore. I never had diabetes, Alzheimer's, or cancer. I'm sure my IF practices will help keep me healthy and reduce the chances of those happening. So thanks Dr. Jason Fung for keeping me healthy and saving my life from a hazardous health future.
@@loiscashner6567Way to go. Try to incorporate longer fast and that will help with the belly fat. A 24 hr fast once a week, 36 hr fast once a month and a 72 hr fast once a quarter ( every three to four months).
Thank you Dr Jason Fung, about 16 months back I, due to diabetes,in desperate condition physically as well as mentally, even I went like 80%disable couldn't know how to put my foot forward. My HBA1C was 9.5 and I weight 106 kg. After watching your video on UA-cam I started fasting because you reminded me of what I used to do about 40 years back for religious purpose, well in those months I lost 31 kg.and my HBA1C is down to 6.5 and walking with out a stick . It's like being born again with lots of energy at my disposal and a very clear and focused mind, never felt like this after my teen years.I am 70 years old now, once again thank you again for reminding LOL
Today I read my A1C results. This time last year I was sitting around 7.2 today my A1C is 9.9! I reached out in a group I belong to on FB and a gentleman suggested checking you out. I watched this entire video but had already realized what I needed to know in the first few minutes. I’m thankful that there are humans on this earth such as yourself. You deserve the Noble Prize without question and I haven’t even started following your plan yet. I can hear in your voice alone the passion you have for this subject. Again, I am very thankful that the Lord has blessed us with human beings such as yourself. Thank you! May the Lord bless you always!
I read this blokes book and immediately enacted upon it. Revolutionary. I do the 36 hour fast and low carb when I do eat, and I've dropped 25 kg and am officially off insulin. All I need to do is to keep fasting/exercising ( saves money too ) - his book made sense and was very easy to use. I highly recommend it to anyone who asks me. Been doing it for 3 -4 years. If you are wondering 36 hour fasting becomes easier and easier. If the doc is reading this - you have completely changed my life - Not many people can say that so for that I genuinely thank you.
I love getting comfortable, a hot cup of green tea, and settling in to watch one of Dr. Fung's lectures. I've learned so much. This is life changing information. Thank you for all you do 😊🙏
I was diagnosed type 2 a month ago. Doctor gave me metformin. Started 16 hour fast that week graduated to 18 hours a week later then went to 20 to 24 hrs alternate fast my 3rd week. I just now finished a 3 days fast and used my accu-check tester. My glucose is at 71 after 3 day fast. It was reading at 130 a month ago before I have my meals. I think I'm going to stick with 16-18 daily fast and do a 3 day fast every other month. I want to thank you for all the information you provide this is a life saver. FYI I did stop metformin before doing the 3 day fast.
BTW. There's a medical researcher called Dr. David Sinclair who claims that Metformin and also Reservatrol increase life span significantly. Though, the downside is that after years on Metformin, Calcium is thought to be inhibited in some way, leading to a Vitamin B12 deficiency. If you don't believe, then Google is your friend.
Oh my God this man is amazing! I've read two of his books, as I was diagnosed back in 2015. He's so direct and to the point and is bringing to the forefront the reality of what the medical profession has stood by for so long. He needs to be recommended for the Nobel Peace Prize!
Yasss! I've lost 40lbs in 2 1/2 months. I truly hope I am also able to lose 130lbs more in the next year. Can you tell me-- 1. What exact plan did you follow (fasting schedule, exercise, diet)? 2. Was autophagy able to prevent excess skin in your case? Or did you not add in prolonged fasting?
@@ViolinfanaticOriginal I do 6hr eating window but I had to build up to that. and I try to keep it under 20 carbs a day. 50 max. I also walk a LOT. like 5 miles a day. And I do have a lot of extra skin. I'm hoping autophagy takes care of that but I know it can take years for that to happen for some people. My longest fast has been 24hrs so I may need to increase that every now and then.
@@itsjustmarty4522 If you can increase your fasting time, I would. Regular extended fasting did wonders for me in several ways with no sustained lose skin.
Thank you for this clear explanation. My glucose level has dropped to 4.4 no more meds and lost 24 pounds in weight approx 1 lb a week I am 78! It has taken me this long to understand the benefits of intermittent fasting combined with low carb diet. The difference is a psychological one changing from thinking this a desperate short term diet and thinking I am a victim unable to eat like other people to realising this way of eating is “normal”. I am now eating as God intended. Everything we need is present in creation and the body is miraculously designed to adapt to changing circumstances. This is distorted by eating processed high carb foods causing numerous illnesses. Following Jason’s explanation is brilliant. It works!
I cured my type 2 diabetes in a month from eating ketovore . I experienced heavy thirst, peeing and blurry vision in Jan of 2023 . I Knew the signs of diabetes and checked my blood sugers. They were 9.5 and didn't go down. I had full blown type 2 diabetes .I didn't bother going to Dr. I immediately stopped eating., then I did an almost carnivore diet....fasted,...exercised and was non diabetic in one month. My Cgm moniter showed that I had achieved insulin sensitivity as shown by periodic carbs intakes. A high spike of blood glucose and then a normal flat line. Type 2 diabetes is the bodies response to carbohydrate toxicity. The solution is simple....no carbs. I credit Dr Fungs book, the Obesity code, along with all the Low Carb Drs for my success.
@@CryptoLTP5 I cured my type 2 diabetes and you are basically saying.." yeah but?" But what? Why would I ever go back to eating any significant carbs? They made me diabetic. And your metabolism can be fixed. The body heals and repairs itself . In regards to metabolism its called mitophagy and mitosis. 4 months on a ketogenic diet can increase new mitochondria by 400%. My metabolism is not wrecked anymore. Its been rebooted. I personally have no problems with cortisol but if I did I would simply add in some low glycemic veggies...like a bit of carrot in my evening meal. This seems to circumvent cortisol spikes in the evening for those genetically prone to high levels but still keeps the carbs low enough to keep the body in fat burning mode. On the rare occassion that I do eat carbs my body now handles them quite easily. The CGM monitor does not lie.
@@Keithzzzzt I’ve been on lion diet for two years and I developed metabolic issues and kidney/liver issues. Some people need an insulin spike - it’s healthy if it comes back down fairly quickly. But I agree mostly with what you said for sure.
I am having the same symptoms as you. I plan to see a doctor to see what's going on. But that can take a month. I know it's likely type 2 diabetes. Plus I am obease. So today, I am doing what you did. Low carb diet, fasting, exercise, and caloric deficit. I will be losing 200ib.
In 2003 I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. With a strong family history of it (my dad lost both legs due to diabetes), I just accepted that I was dealt a crummy hand and took glipizide and metformin as prescribed. I tried to control it with the meds and diet, but I'd take one step forward and 3 steps back. My A1c continued to inch up little by little. In 2022 I went for my check up and my A1c was 10.1, the highest it's ever been. I had started experiencing neuropathy in both feet months prior and remembering my dad and his amputations, I decided to get serious. I tossed all sugar, stopped eating carbs completely, would drink a diabetic meal replacement shake in the morning, then have my meal of proteins and vegetables mid-day. Another meal replacement shake in the evening. Six months later then I went back for my next checkup, I had lost 97 pounds and my A1c was 5.4! I've had a few setbacks since then (illness/injury), and I feel the weight I put back on, but I won't give up.
You’re doing great!👍🏽 learning to do better is never a sprint forward but a marathon of consistency. Best of luck on your journey of wellness and health. You got this!!!❤
Fasting is the key to spiritual health and physical health! Thanks you Lord for telling this in the Bible and thank u doctor for explaining the physical side of fasting
This does work, but if you have been diabetic like I have for over 20 years, it takes time to reverse everything back to healthy. I’m still on my journey, insulin free after 10 months, and my baseline blood sugar is now below 180, when I started this road, my baseline blood glucose was over 330!
Dr. Fung's guidance has changed my life. I'm saving money on food AND eating organically, which I previously couldn't afford! I've lost 16 lbs since June and feel great. Slow and steady is winning the race. I can now do a 72-hour fast and OMAD periodically without any difficulty. His advocacy is the highlight of my day!
A few days ago i did blood analysis and i was officially diagnosed with diabetes type 2 today, I’m really scared that i will have to take medication and insulin for the rest of my life, hearing him saying it is reversible just made me cry, there is hope.
It is reversible...im in normal range and never gave in to doctors pushing meds. Just diet only. Eat lots of meat and fish for protein, extra virgin oil, avocado oil and butter for fats and cheese and eggs. Some veg but not starchy like potatoes definitely no no and loads of salad. Good luck
There’s always HOPE!!! One just needs to find the right channel and people. Dr. Jason is a miracle in human form. I wish you much success on becoming healthy and well!🫶🏽✨🫶🏽
Found out I had diabetes almost 2 months ago and got my A1C from 12% to 7% so far. Thanks to you, I purchased your book and took your advice. Even after my dr told me how dangerous fasting and keto is and for me not to fast. I’m documenting my journey to prove it can be done. I go back in October for my 3 months blood work. Can’t wait to see the results. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I’m on day 2 of the metformin & got a call next day from Dr that I need insulin because I had ketones in my urine… I feel sick. I’m shocked too. Plus trying to eat low carb ..this has stressed me out
I finally understand what has been happening to me. Every time they increase my insulin, my weight gets higher and my diabetes gets worse. I woke up with a glucose level over 500 this morning, it has been high for awhile but I don’t want to call my Endocrinologist. I worry all the time because I see this as a chronic disease leading to death. I am going back on Keto and doing Intermediate fasting again. I have been doing Nutri System which has too many carbs. I can finally sit down with my Endocrinologist and explain what has been happening to me and why. Thank you!
After 4 months on Keto my A1C went from 8.2 to 6.4 ... My goal is below 5.7 .... and off of the meds ..Janumet .... also lost 22 lbs down to 164 ... hooray for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One week ago, I had a terrible migraine post covid symptoms and was admitted to hospital. Found out that my A1C was off the chart at 29.5. Doctor now declared i am a diabetes patient and put me immediately on insulin. Thanks for sharing your presentation and I am determined to reverse my T2D using your advice. Big thank you.
Reading the Obesity Code many years ago was life changing for me. My endocrinologist told me at the time that I would be full blown diabetic within just a few years. My mother died from diabetes complications at 67 so I was determined I wasn't going down that path. And now well over 10 years later my A1c hasn't ever gone over 5.7.
@@yvonnechatman9333 I was a carb addict most of my life. My weight was always 20-50lbs over what I weigh now. And I noticed even 30 years ago that the only diet that worked for me was the Atkins. But I'd lose enough weight to where I was comfortable and then go back to my normal diet of bread, pasta and sweets. So basically I've concluded after many experiments that I'm carb intolerant. So very own carb with some intermittent fasting as recommended by Dr Fung along with regular exercise was the answer for me. Besides effortless weight control and normalized Blood Glucose, I noticed a huge change in mood and energy levels. I once suffered from frequent episodes of depression and mood swings. No more. Also gone are the up and down energy levels throughout the day. I still have my struggles with the carb addiction especially when on vacation but I know this has to be a lifetime woe for me.

I found this video in March of 2023. This made so much sense to me. For the first time in my life I felt I had a grasp on the diabetes that I had been struggling with for decades. A disease that continued to progress. My A1C had increased to 7.8! (Even though I thought I was trying very hard to “eat right”.)And I was taking 2 meds (metformin and glipizide) I showed the video to a couple of people with medical backgrounds to make sure the science was sound. They both assured me that the science was spot on and even decided to make some changes themselves in their own lifestyle. I began to implement the low carb diet and the intermittent fasting. 10 months later my A1C is 6.2 and I have dropped 40 lbs. My doctor is thrilled. I feel hopeful for the first time that I can soon reach a normal A1C. Thank you so much Dr. Fung!!!!!'!!!!! I’m no longer on Metformin or glipizide.
I started watching your videos 5 weeks ago. I am T2D weighing 199 lbs and a A1C of 7.8. I started IF 16/8 7 days a week and brisk walking 5 days a week. In 4 weeks I lost 14.4 Lbs and my A1C dropped to 6. There no turning back now. In 3 months time I am going for another A1C test and I'm aiming for at least 5.5. Thanks to you Dr Fung you saved me. I have also changed my diet
Am down 55 lbs (lost 25% of my body weight and back to about what I weighed when I came home from the Army in 1969) and the diabetic trend is reversed. And Dr Jason Fung's videos, along with some supplemental book reading, are exactly what got me started on the road to success, W/O MEDS OF ANY KIND. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
I do not know what the latest scientific literature says, but I know that by the A1C diagnostic criterion, after losing 80 pounds, I am no longer considered diabetic after many years of insulin shots. I used intermittent fasting and it is now part of my lifestyle. Though I am not a "patient" of Dr. Fong (I live in Italy), but following the advice I got here, my blood studies are normal. My endocrinologist say she has never seen anything like it in 20 years of practice. I actually had to argue with her to take me off insulin using the current information I got here from Dr. Fung and, to her credit, she listened and checked the literature herself. At my examinations 3 and 6 months post discontinuation of insulin, my A1C went down in the blood studies. I cannot thank Dr. Fong enough!
Same happened I myself came off insulin and stopped all medications . Did IF , low carb healthy diet . My A1c came from 12 to 6.6 in 4 months. My fasting is still high , my fasting especially during morning is 160. My endocrinologist asked me to use metformin extended , I don’t see any difference with or without medication my fasting is high . What to do so my fasting sugar is low

I'm losing weight and my blood sugar has dropped... I also feel better...
I owe Dr Fung a lot. I was pre-diabetic at 6.4, and at one point only 0.5 away from being a full-blown diabetic. My doctor said if my hemoglobin a1c went up to 6.5 he was going to put me on medication. With Dr. Fung's instruction through his teachings my hgb today was 5.8 at 6 months later (less than 5.7 is normal). Not only that, I lost 14 lbs and feel the greatest I've ever been in a long long time. Not only physically good, but mentally good. I had Metabolic Disease my entire life. I was, at one point, up to 300lbs with an A1c of 12. I had bariatric surgery in '93. I dropped weight to 207lbs and took 3 years to regain it all. Thanks for telling me to eat carbs, ADA. At 62 (2020), I began a ketovore lifestyle. At the time, I was 240lbs, with an A1c of 8.3. I was also on 12 medications, including insulin shots. Fast forward to Aug 2022 and at 64 (female), I'm 160lbs with an A1c of 5.2. I'm off all meds. And I believe I have hyperinsulinemia. Your guidance has given me hope of absolutely reversing this disease so long as I take care of my diet. I thank you and even though they don't know it yet, so do my children!
Doctors know that 98% of people who lose a significant amount of weight gain it all back within 5 years. The patient needs to lose weight BEFORE medicine can be discontinued, otherwise you risk causing damage, and it would be irresponsible. Doctors have been recommending weight loss to their patients for decades, yet people have become progressively fatter and there are more diabetics now than ever, despite this advice. Weight loss is on people, it's not on doctors.
@@TrishVidal A health advice is on doctors, and for decades that advice have been false, causing more damage than help. Apparently you have no idea what you are talking about, but you came here to criticize people who have serious health problems as if it is "their fault", because they didn't - lose weight. If you knew anything about hyperinsulinemia, or read or heard anything dr Fung ever said about it, you wouldn't talk nonsense.
I love Dr. Jason Fung. Brilliant, Generous, Life Saver, Gift from God, educating and giving us the correct tools to help us come back from a horrible disease to victory and good health! We have the knowledge and now it’s up to us. I thank you, Dr. Jason Fung, true humanitarian! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Dr. Fung, I hope you see this. Thank you for all your work and for sharing your knowledge. You've changed many lives, mine included. I just bought the audio and Kindle versions of your Diabetes Code book to show support and appreciation.
I just had an ultra sound. Results: kidney stones, fatty liver, Chrystals in urine, female reproductive issues. I am retired so not worried about babies. Obviously, weight is an issue as well. I started my diet again. The last time I followed the diet/IF about a year ½ ago. I felt amazing. I walked my dog a couple hours a day. My dog died and I left my good habits. I am paying for it now. Excruciating pain, insomnia, constant hunger… I got the results 2 days ago and stopped in my tracks. I am back on the routine you suggest. Can’t wait to see and feels the results. I will take notes.
@Annie C Best of luck! Our stories are quite similar I'm not retired yet but pretty close. The low carb IF advice is really helping me get slowly back on track. Hope you will consider getting a dog again - it took us awhile after the death of our last dog but we adopted a little dachshund/terrier mix and she has re-energized us!
Thank you Jason! My doctor is pretty old school, so convincing him that I can beat my diabetes has been challenging. But the results don't lie (unless my glucometer is way off ALL THE TIME). He has already cut my medication in half. If thing keep going like they are; then I might make it off meds!
Dr Fung makes a strong case against our medical system being too compartmentalized. He is a nephrologist but is willing to step outside of his nephrologist compartment to expand his learning and opine on endocrinologist issues and beyond.
Jason Fung is a rockstar! "Type 2 Diabetes" - or as Fung more correctly calls it here - "Chronic Hyperinsulinemia" is arguably the most serious, widespread chronic metabolic problem of modern society, costing trillions of dollars a year in health care for chronic diseases including heart disease and kidney problems. Modern medicine has been treating the symptom, high blood sugar, when much more success would accrue from treating the underlying problem, hyperinsulinemia. Cells suffer from having too much glucose already there, backing up glucose into the blood. This is a presentation that every health care provider treating any metabolic disorder should know so well they could reconstruct it nearly word for word. To pharaphrase a recent VP, this is a big deal.
Thank you and respect for your work, I always follow you and read your book as well. Being a Canadian I am proud of you that we have a Dr like you. I wish you get a noble prize one day.

Dr Fung saved my life quite literally. I had an A1C of 9.6 on meds (no insulin) and had kidney dysfunction showing up because of high levels of creatinine. I started a 16:8 DAILY for 3 months. I then tested on month 4 and my A1C was 5.5, and I essentially reversed my NAFLD. My ALT numbers were totally normal. God bless Dr Fung
I’ve been able to reverse my type 2 diabetes, gotten off all meds with diet and exercise and I’ve gone through type 2 out of control with change in jobs, stress, and travel. So I’m listening but not yet convinced.
Jason changed my life. Obesity Code was an eye opener. I finally figured out the metabolic issues in my life and how fasting corrected them. He is truly a Saint. Went against the medical establishment too. Doctors will never tell you this. Very brave man.
Fasting and low carb doesn’t make the pharma demons any money. The doctors won’t change since they only do what their pharma owned education tells them. Pharma owns the medical establishment. They want you sick. Healthy people don’t make them money.
I really respect Dr Fung, as a medical professional, for questioning established medical protocols. That takes a lot of courage-to say, “hey, maybe what we’ve been taught to do” is necessary the best course of treatment.
Jason fung has played an important role in educating me about my body. I believe I would never again need a doctor for diabetes and obesity related problems atleast.
This is so assuring. I am 52 yo, and have struggled with keeping my a1c to below 6, with my sugar craving out of control as it became more and more a comfort food to combat stress or my busy schedule. I thought body and appetite will just go out of control since my late mother and grandmother is diabetic and died of multiple organ failure. I really thought there is absolutely nothing I can do about it until you showed a clear map of what will happen and what can happen instead with fasting. You are really God sent, Dr Jason Fung

Thank you, Dr Fung, for educating us and showing us that we can do more for ourselves that any dr can. Thank you for giving us hope and helping us without charging us for your valuable advises. May the Lord bless you.
Dr Fung, I have no words to appreciate you and this Lecture, you are doing excellent job for humanity, I have been watching you since two years now. I was diabetic with HBa1c 6.8 learnt a lot from your videos, then started treating my self with Low carb high fat diet & IF, reduced my weight down by 16 kg to a BMI 22 my weight is 62 Kg now, ( no further room to reduce :) ) all this bring down my HBa1c to 5.3. Now I am just maintaining it since 1.5 years. this makes me interest to study Keto, Low carb, IF & dry fasting, now I am volunteering by treating other people to reverse Obesity, diabetes PCOs etc. This lecture is a class of its king it explain insulin resistance & fatty liver in detail and even a layman person like me understood the basic concept. Once again thank you Dr Fung.

Thank you for showing me that Insulin dependent Type 2 is reversible.
I’m so thankful that I found your link. I was suffering with high A1C levels over 11. Nothing seemed to help me so my endocrinologist kept increasing my doses of insulin. Of course I was blowing up in weight. My numbers were not improving. The doctor told me that the insulin was not causing the problems. That I could win the Pulitzer if I could ever figure out diabetes because no one understands it. After I read your book I stopped taking insulin and began to use insulin as a preventative measure to control my blood sugar spikes. My A1C levels were now @ 6.7. I lost 68 pounds in less than a year. Now I have stopped losing weight and began to start gaining weight again. I believe that stress is a big factor in this. I did to re read your book and catch up on your new work. Thank you for sharing everything you have learned. It gives us all hope we are not doomed.

Fully agree with you, but strange is that this doesn't work to everybody, of course that I'm talking about my self, for me the only thing that works it's having meals every 2 to 3 hours. @@FilipeJorgeSilva It doesn’t work for a lot of people! You’re not alone.
Yes! I know this other MD got it for his work with autophagy but what Dr. Fung is doing for diabetes is out here saying lives!!
He is clueless. He thinks insulin resistance is caused by excess glucose.
@richardjackson5380 it's his theory on how it's caused, nobody really knows the cause of insulin resistance including you.
Hi first of all god bless your healing , but what about beta cells and their function do u feel they restored too ?

Ya but if you ever go back to carbs, you’ll realize that your metabolism is shot. A reason why you’d have to go back are huge cortisol spikes.

Same happened with me & my Endocrinologist is convinced.
Thanks for spreading your story, it helps others to hear.
@@sshkoshetty1857 Kindly look into why the smartest & most caring docs, who are practicing clinicians, have been advising that the ER Metformin is problematic so they recomm going back to the regular.
@@chuckbecker8735 i am planning for getting pregnant and my endocrinologist says I need to be on metformin and future she will be putting me on insulin too , as plasanta has insulin resistance ...she says I need to take carbs lol...am happy without carbs full energetic, feeling great by being on IF , natural food. I need a help from doctor as am am planning for pregnancy and my IF low carb shouldn't impact my pregnancy in negative way. These doctors are crappy they want me to go back to my past unhealthy lifestyle of having insulin shots, metformin and eat carbs hmmm. I need doctor help for healthy pregnancy
I just want to say thank you to Dr Jason Fung. I started this on 24th September 2022 with a HB1AC at 7.1 - 44 inches of belly fat, 38 inch waist and a weight of 94.7 kg .... 3 mths later after cutting out carbs .. sugar .. and intermittent fasting of between 18 to 20 hrs a day and fast pace walking 45 min a day for 4 days a week........ the results are in 17th December 2022 ... HB1AC 5.5 (considered non diabetic) 38 inches belly fat , 32 inch waist and a weight of 77.9 kg .... I feel the best I have ever felt in over 30 years with type 2 ... I cant thank you enough ....
Did your triglyceride, HDL and LDL improve too?
After 10 days of fasting 18 hours a day and eating two meals during the six hour window plus dumping carbs my high blood pressure plummeted. So much so that I had to stop taking one of the two meds for High blood pressure. Last check was 107/63.... Amazing, I have tried everything for years to naturally control my BP without success. I'm losing weight and my blood sugar has dropped... I also feel better...
Thanks a lot Dr. FUNG for your love of helping poor people overcome their diabetes. You are the best Medical DOCTOR of all Medical Doctors. ❤️
Thank you Dr. Fung, I tell all my patients and co-workers about you.
Welldone to you😁
What you followed exactly?
No doctor can put you on anything unless you allow it.
What have you done? So far for a year you didn't answer this question
I'm on 7.5 and doctor still not giving me meds😂
Thank you Dr Fung..your book obesity code helped me lose 80lbs 2yrs and kept off. My A1C went from. 6.7 to 5.2...doing IF.
Congratulations to you!
Greetings and thanks from Malaysia.
As a Medical lecturer, Physician and Neurology fellow, I'm going to show this lecture to all my students and stroke patients.
Only THANKS Dr. Fung! I reverse my Diabetes 2 after four and a half monthes of a low carb diet and intermittent fasting, flollowing your recommendations.
- 2022 November 15, Glucose: 430. HBA1c 9,5.
- 2023 April 1, Glucose 89, HBA1c 5.
I lost 20 kg. No medication at all.
Wow those are really superb results! Very inspirational, thanks for sharing.
Dr. Fung, you are giving hope to your patients. You take the "Hippocratic oath" to heart.
My latest blood tests show my fasting glucose at 121 yet an A1c of 5.2.
It's frustrating, yet I'll never go back. 👍
Inspiring
Wowoo good work 👍👍👍
My fasting glucose is around same number as yours and my A1c 5.4. yes...we hate seeing those fasting numbers ! I'm right there with. But I'm also age 63 and feeling 30 yrs younger.
Try a water fast of at least 7 days.
I have done the same, except I was at 250 pounds...no surgery. Thank you Dr. Fung. My fasting glucose is also in the 120's but my BP is down from 190/85 to 138/80. Off all meds too. Everytime I do a fast longer than 5 days my numbers improve.
My daddy took metphormin for years but then had to go to insulin. He wasn’t overweight though towards the end of his life. Of course he was on the standard diabetic diet. His type 2 diabetes effected everything in his body and he died from heart disease. I wish I had know this years before.
Im sorry for your loss
Thank you so much Dr Fung😢....i can't thank you enough!. I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes in February this, i was devastated and scared, i vowed from that day.... that I'm not going to take the meds, but, i didn't know how to get rid of this terrible disease, until my brother sent some of your videos. Still struggling with getting it right, but i know that i will win!
Dr. Fung deserves all the success and praise. I had this T2D three years ago and understood this disease from his UA-cam videos and lectures. I have been living a healthy life style without any of the diabetic drugs at all from the beginning.
I am really grateful for your lecture , watching your videos don't cost me a penny but gains a lot of insights to this disease.
Thank you ,Doctor.
Nope. Roy Taylor is the person who deserves most of the praise. He discovered this and did the research.
But, Dr. Fung is getting the info out there.
Dr. Fung should get a Nobel Prize (on medicine or peace) for his remarkable work on this topic! This presentation is the best on reversing diabetes
I would love to say a huge thank you. My A1c was 9.5 and all of my live enzymes were elevated. I am 35 and over weight. My PCP ordered meds for me. I was able to loss 40 lb, decrease my A1c to 6.1, and normalized all of my liver enzyme test. I did all of these my doing every other day intermittent fasting , lowering my carb and process food intake, and walking without taking meds. So, thank you for showing me a healthy way and giving me control over my own life.
This is the first site I've found that I actually understand. Every other diabetes site confuses that heck out of me because I've been trying their way for 3 months and nothing is happening. I am trying your way as of yesterday.
This doctor is great I absolutely love to hear everything he has to say
I like the honesty of dr Fung! Many doctors and us scientists do not admit when something no longer works!
Thank you Dr.Fung for your continuing efforts on educating the world. You truly are an inspiration! Because of your amazing information I have been able to lose 60 lbs. so far. Even as a post menopausal 57 year old women who has been heavy most of my life. Now I look forward to being so healthy in the next 50 years of my life.
How you lose the why??

@@joycehoke2334 I started with intermittent fasting of 18:6. Then after 2 months I changed to 1 meal a day. I drink lots of water, and my one meal is full of nutritious whole foods. I have so much energy, and my blood work is fantastic. I'm so healthy 😌

You are a true doctor Jason! More doctors need to practice improving real heath and not practice drug-backed medicine. I was just diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and have already seen great improvement over the past 3-4 weeks going on a LCHF diet. Your guidance has given me hope of absolutely reversing this disease so long as I take care of my diet. I thank you and even though they don't know it yet, so do my children!
I take chromium as well as B12 and resveratrol...

Dr. Fung, I hope you see this. Thank you for all your work and for sharing your knowledge. You've changed many lives, mine included. I just bought the audio and Kindle versions of your Diabetes Code book to show support and appreciation.
The compassion of Dr Jason Fung is immeasurable ❤💕❤
Thank you Dr. Fung. You have given us all hope instead of more meds. I have lowered my A1C from 6.7 to 5.6. Now I am shooting for 4.5.
To pharaphrase a recent VP, this is a big deal.
the problem here is that fasting is free, and the giant corporations you have built around medicine will be out of business.
@@palerider7924 that’s type 1 diabetes completely different

Very brave man.
excellent lecture Jason !
This video should/must be a game-changer for the whole (insulin) pharma-industry
Thank you Doctor Fung. You are literally a life saver.
Every patient and (especially) every doctor should have to listen to this presentation. Extremely well done and explained.
Jason fung has played an important role in educating me about my body. I believe I would never again need a doctor for diabetes and obesity related problems atleast.
Dr Jason is a blessing for mankind.
Thank you sir 🎉

This is so assuring. I am 52 yo, and have struggled with keeping my a1c to below 6, with my sugar craving out of control as it became more and more a comfort food to combat stress or my busy schedule. I thought body and appetite will just go out of control since my late mother and grandmother is diabetic and died of multiple organ failure. I really thought there is absolutely nothing I can do about it until you showed a clear map of what will happen and what can happen instead with fasting. You are really God sent, Dr Jason Fung

00:00 📊 Traditional thinking on type 2 diabetes suggested it's irreversible due to pancreatic burnout.
03:02 🔄 In 2021, the American Diabetes Association introduced diabetes remission criteria, indicating reversibility.
05:08 🍽️ Strategies like bariatric surgery, fasting, and low-carb diets have shown success in reversing type 2 diabetes.
08:18 🔑 Understanding insulin resistance as an overflow problem, not internal starvation, helps in treating type 2 diabetes.
23:07 🚫 Giving more insulin doesn't resolve the issue of hyperinsulinemia in type 2 diabetes; it exacerbates it.
23:21 💡 Type 2 diabetes and obesity are linked to fatty liver and excess insulin; losing weight can reverse these conditions.
24:03 💡 The problem isn't a malfunctioning insulin receptor but having too much insulin in the body, often caused by dietary changes since the 1970s.
26:29 💡 Treating the overflow of glucose, not just blood glucose, is crucial in managing type 2 diabetes.
31:09 💡 The beta cell dysfunction in the pancreas is often reversible when the fatty pancreas is addressed, challenging the idea of permanent burnout.
34:22 💡 Type 2 diabetes consists of interconnected liver and pancreatic cycles related to ectopic fat deposition; it's one disease, not two distinct conditions.
