I am T2D. I was on meds where both my foot went numb after taking them. I went to the dr 3x but i got ignore. I had to take control of my health. Yes cutting sugar, grains, process foods, cakes, donuts, ice creams, and 6 meals a day really help!
I was told I was prediabetic 4 years ago. My doctor immediately Prescribed metformin. It made me feel like crap. Diet and exercise is EVERYTHING. Totally curable. Drug companies and kick backs are killing people. I like this guy too. very helpful. :)
Ben - my doctor had diagnosed me as "pre-diabetic" many years ago and I generally managed both my glucose levels and my A1C with diet. I gave up any added sugar (mostly soda and snacks), most starches (bread, pasta, potatoes, beer, etc.), and became aggressive with carb counting (~100g daily), and I dropped 25 pounds in 2-3 months. I thought I was doing pretty well for the intervening years and then COVID struck along with some family tragedies followed by retirement. I allowed my diet to go unchecked for the better part of last year and was drinking more than I should. For my annual physical in fall 2020, my levels were normal but my 2021 physical was just last month and I had gained back the 25 pounds, my A1C was 10.0, and my glucose was 397! My doctor prescribed metformin and added dapagliflozin (Farxiga) after a follow up visit. I immediately began monitoring my glucose levels daily and resumed my aggressive carb counting, shooting for between 50-100g of carbs daily. Long story short, in just over a month's time my glucose levels are down to around 100 and I've dropped 12 pounds. A comment above used the term CARNeto diet - my regimen now is lean meat and a variety of vegetables (avoiding the starchy ones), water, and zero-sugar sodas if I want something different. I'm hoping that my next A1C in March will also show improvement and that I haven't done too much damage to my body during the time I was not paying the sort of attention to my diet that I should have. Dr. Berry is right on about managing your diabetic health through what you eat.
I was diagnosed with type 2 about 2 years ago. My sugar was 374 and a1c was 12. I have completely reversed this condition with diet alone. Everything that was said here in this video is 100% true.
@dozermand6ify the first thing I did was cut out all the drinks that were loaded with sugar, soda and juice mostly. That in itself made a huge difference. I also started drinking a lot more water. Next, I started paying more attention to what I was eating. I cut out all of the deserts and cut down on the carbs, and overall calories in general. There are actually a lot of food alternatives that are just as satisfying but are a lot better for you. You just need to do a little homework and find the ones that appeal to you the most. This is totally reversible, the doctors that tell you otherwise are full of it.
Please would you mind tell how you controlled your control your sugure. My mother has diagnosed diabetes and we do not know what type she is about 75 or I do not know her exact age. Would you mind tell me how you managed please please.

This completely backs up what I have suspected for decades. 25 years ago my father was diagnosed with T2D and his doctor recommended a vegetarian diet full of wheat, grains, pasta and fruit. I have type one diabetes. I was 'fed' a load of nonsense when first diagnosed. I eventually found out what I needed to know for good control. It was nothing like I was told back then.
While I respect vegetarian & vegans, its the ultra militant ones who claim that plant based is end all, cure all to every human illness. Then the lemmings who are still omnivores who believe them and think that's what they have to do to get healthy. Professor Eran Segal gave a TED Talks where said that there is no perfect diet and that everybody is different, which I definitely believe. My younger brother went vegan cold turkey with no problem. Meanwhile I tried vegetarianism for like 3 weeks and felt nauseous, dizzy, and weak. Even after trying to ease into it. My brother can eat carbs and not really put on weight. I spend 2 weeks eating carbs and I start to puff up. All my brothers and sisters like spicy foods. Me, can't handle it.

I am one of those skinny diabetics. I went to the doctor for a totally unrelated problem 11 years ago and "accidentally" found out that I was diabetic. I would have went on for many, many years never knowing it. This knuckle headed doctor basically told me that it was degenerative and to protect my feet from injury. He said absolutely nothing about my diet. I fired him and did not go to the doctor again until 2017. The first thing my new doctor told me, who is a naturopath, was to get on a ketogenic diet. I finally listened to her and you and after 4 years I improved my A1C from 11.7 to 6.0 last month.
Westlake Market, I'm also a skinny diabetic and my last A1c was 6.0. I'm trying very hard to bring it down to 5.5 without losing more weight. I was 115 lbs when I started eating low-carb and quickly went down to 96 lbs; I was very weak so I ate some rice and potatoes sometimes; I regained a few pounds and am currently 109 lbs. It's difficult but I'm not giving up or going back to the way that I was eating! We've to take care of ourselves and Praise God that we've Dr. Berry and other doctors on UA-cam to help guide us! I'm also a skinny diabetic but that wasn't always the case. Went from a muscular 200 pounds to 170 in about 4 months with no change to my diet. Was told I was a type 2 for years before I finally convinced my doctor (with evidence) that I'm a type 1.5. Then started insulin (Novolin N) once per day at dinner time, and haven't felt better in years after suffering for so long. Plus I put on some much needed muscle.
Always thought and believed to the point of having a Conviction, that Mediterranean diet like Falafel, Olive Pizza, Babagunesh etc along with Nuts and Honey based dessert are cures for Type 2 diabetes
I am T2D. I changed my diet from high carb to lchf diet, fasting and exercise. I loss weight from 164 to 115, A1C was 8.93 to 4.8 and glucose from 199+ to 100 or less. I am on supplements only and off meds. Dr Ken Berry is correct what he says. My dietition and pcp recommended 6 meals a day with snack between each meals which is dangerous!!! Yes i did followed it but my condition gotten worst which mean more meds so i changed my diet. I avoid bread, process foods, sugar, corn, grains, seed fats, juice soda, and fry foods.
Three months ago my A1C was at 8.5 I totally eliminated carbs, exercise every day, 18-hour intermittent fasting, and natural glucose-lowering supplements. Plenty of water and fiber. Today she is at 5.4
I’m striving for a similar result. 12/29/23 A1C = 7.1. 1/29/24 A1C = 6. The January result was, of course, due to IF (18/6), mostly but not exclusively PBWF diet, mixture of cardio and resistance exercise routine. I’m still conflicted about meat vs. plants. I’m splitting the difference by consuming sardines and eggs along with a multitude of salads. Thanks for your post. Most encouraging.

@@rosecore9598 I have been consulting in 3 areas: nutritionist, endocrinologist, and integrative/metabolic medicine. Given the results, the nutritionist reintroduced complex carbohydrates (e.g. sweet potatoes, lentils, chickpeas and beans) into my diet in small quantities (around 2 tablespoons/meal) with rice (1 level tablespoon/meal).
I'll say it again. I went from 10.6 A1C to a 5.5. I simply stopped having sugar and started a hi fat low carb diet. I did it from November when I was diagnosed to June at my 3rd Dr appointment. My next appointment because I did so well is not until December. Also my blood work was all in the normal range. Your research Dr Berry as was as others has saved my health. Instead of screaming "I'm debt free", I'm metabolic syndrome free!
Back in August 2017 I was hospitalized for 6 months with a severe heel ulcer (and a few smaller ones) that required 2 surgical debridements due to Peripheral Neuropathy in my legs and feet from T2 Diabetes. When I was discharged in February 2018 I weighed 368 lbs. My Hba1c was 18! I went on a Keto diet, and began Intermittent Fasting. By July 2018 my Hba1c was down to 4.8, and has remained between 4.8 - 5.6 ever since. I am off the 3 types of insulin I was on; as well as all oral diabetes meds except Metformin. I have lost 140 lbs, walk up & down stairs unaided, and at age 62 have done a minimum of 50 Push-Ups every day since November 5th 2020 after not being able to do a single Push-Up for over 40 years. (Have been doing a minimum of 100 for the past 4 months ) I now follow a Carneto diet. (It's what most people WRONGLY call Ketovore since the Carnivore portion makes up the biggest part of the meal, so it deserves priority, while the veggies, etc - the "keto" portion adds some variety. Thus, CARNeto.) So T2 Diabetes can be reversed, as I have done so.

My Heel had basically healed after the surgeries, but I still had to wear an off loading boot after I was released from the hospital. I began Keto/Carneto 3 weeks later. So it may have helped somewhat, but not initially.
Have you noticed ingesting carbs spikes your blood sugars differently from someone who has never had Diabetes? I am curious if it is ever possible to fully revert back to a normal state. It would be nice to have a cheat meal with friends and family a few times a year.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2008. Two years ago my A1C was about 10.1, the VA asked me to try the Virta Program, a mostly protein diet, no sugar or unhealthy carbs. I have lost over 40 lbs and my A1C runs between 5.3 to 6.0, feel much better.
I was told a year ago that I was "borderline" , nearly diabetic. I just started avoiding sugar, all grains, and trying to eat meats and veggies. In no way am I perfect at this, but I have lost about 20 lbs, and resumed my 1 meal a day eating. Feeling better, and I'm pretty sure that my metabolism is not borderline any more. It totally works.
I diagnosed with full blown type 2 in early April given Metformin and that was it. Nothing about changing diet, what to eat or not to eat or exercise, nothing. Just take the meds to help reduce it. I went home and spent numerous hours on UA-cam and googling about diabetes. It’s amazing how some of these doctors get to continue to practice.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the first week of February. I followed the ADA dietary guidelines for diabetics for all of Feb and March. I actually had to increase the amount of insulin I was taking, and gained 1 lb. I went on a strict under 20 carbs diet in the first week of April, and I ended up taking my last shot of insulin on April 27th, and stopped the Metformin in mid May. I went full carnivore the first week of June, and on July 7th my A1C came back a 5.6. I also lost 40 lbs during all that. I feel better than I've felt in at least 20 years, maybe even forever. I'm off ALL my prescribed meds. BP meds, Protonix, Atorvastatin, all of it. My psoriasis has cleared up, my joints no longer hurt, my depression and anxiety are gone. The diabetes had caused my eye vision to start to blur. That went away and now I can actually read a book without putting my reading glasses on. My brain fog has cleared up and I now have tons of energy. I thank you for all of this because watching your videos is what put me on the right track!
Good to hear. My doctor and RD have had me following ADA guidelines for quite awhile. I told them that I felt it was too many carbs. I was told I could go on another medication. I refused and am eating way fewer carbs.
My mom is type II. She kept hounding me to quit vaping, constantly on my ass about it. She probably took her blood sugar reading once every three months. She took her meds but her A1C was through the roof and she ate whatever. I made her a deal that I would quit vaping if she would take her BS once daily and wrote it down. It’s been about 7 months and her A1C is like half of what it used to be and I haven’t vaped. She’s lost about 50 pounds and has far exceeded my greatest expectations. Seeing her numbers improve has really motivated her and at this point she is doing it for herself and not just so I will continue to not vape.
Thanks to a video of Dr Berry’s called The Ketogenic diet and reversing type 2 Diabetes , that I watched back in November 2020, I HAVE reversed my type 2 diabetes! February of 2021 my A1C was 5.2, which was the highest since the start, and my lowest was 4.6 several months ago. The lowest numbers were because I incorporated intermittent fasting along with keto. You can do this too!

I’ve been a type 1 diabetic since 1970 and by going low-carbohydrate I finally was able to get A1C under 7%, usually around 6.3%. Endocrinologists were pleased with that despite disapproving of my diet. For the past year a near-carnivore diet has put my A1C under 5%. My current doctor… is on friendly terms with Dr. Berry, not surprisingly.
Wow good for you, it's crazy to think that the so-called American diet is actually harming all of us. The caveman didn't have bread and pasta so we shouldn't have it either. My mother is a type 2 diabetic and her endocrinologist about had a heart attack when she told him she wanted to go carnivore. They said she would starve to death because she wasn't eating any carbs for energy. What people don't realize is that when you're diabetic carbs actually make you tired they don't give you energy do they?
I don't fight back I just take my pills metformin Like the majority of people I have no side effects if y have side effects why not try another pill maybe. I never think what could happen with my diabetes. That's not a good way to live plenty of people have heart attacks without being diabetic I don't think it's helpful to go on about what can happen if y are diabetic . I think I probably eat thecwrinf fruit and veg from time to time but I've had good results from blood tests for 13 years I'm 77
He's telling the truth. Combining keto, fasting, HIIT, and eTRF succeeded within just a mere 22 days in getting me off of heavy insulin shots, all meds, and ten years of Type-2. Eventually, over time, have now dropped 186 pounds with only 40 more to go. No hunger occurred.
You are correct, therefore the good doctor who I usually admire is perpetuating a further myth about diabetes. That it is caused by excess carbohydrates. Not true, the real culprit is food & eating too frequently. Carbs just don't help the situation but are not the true villains. Happy New Year! 😊

@@brendabrown1691 I’m not sure about what you’re saying. Taken to an extreme, I think eating an egg and a piece of bacon every two hours would be a healthier way of eating than a huge bowl of fettuccine alfredo once a day. What would happen over the course of six months eating like this?
@@DeafSeattleGuy36 Some studies seemed to reveal that Early Time Restricted Feeding afforded an astounding # of big health benefits similar to Intermittent fasting but not as robust as I\\F. The eTRF method is where one eats all the food of the entire day within a 2 to 4 hour window but this window must end 9 or more hours prior to one's regular bedtime.
And a bonus lie, we need to eat carbs. Another lie, we need "healthy" whole grains and fruit to be healthy. I've lost 2 friends to diabetes complications, kidney failure. One friend I discussed Keto with after he lost one leg, told me he was interested and that he'd get back to me. A year later he lost his other leg, but he'd get back to me. 6 months later I attended his funeral. My "go to" video for type 2 diabetes has been Dr. Sarah Hallberg's, but now I'm including this video with hers. I thank you for your videos that I can share with friends and in my Keto group.

I feel as though you are part of the same choir I belong to. People are shocked that I do not eat fruit and I eat very little grains (just can't give up that half a sandwich at lunch sometimes). I do low carb and intermittent fasting. That works for me, but people still tell me that at my age (76) I deserve a little pleasure. My pleasure is being able to see and have healthy kidneys, neither of which people in my family have enjoyed.
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and the information they gave me still had me eating 150-200 grams or more of carbs a day! Glad to have found Dr. Berry.
I was told I had gestational diabetes, 7 years later I was diagnosed as a full blown T1D. I had a 10lb baby. Now I wonder if I just was a T1D all along...
@@maiaallman4635 Usually patients with gestational diabetes get a repeat OGTT 3-6 months after delivery. 7 years later is a long time after though. Furthermore Type 1 diabetes isn't caused by insulin resistance though, like type 2 diabetes is.
Thank you for speaking the truth, Dr. Berry. I have been a pharmacist for almost 40 years and I would truly wish that I could be put out of business. I wish I could stop dispensing buckets of drugs to type 2 diabetics who believe all these lies. I have been preaching the low carb diet for decades for my type 2 diabetes patients and literally no one will listen. I see my patients in the grocery store and I can't help but take a peek into their carts- carts piled high with chips, cakes, doughnuts, bread, pretzels, sugary yogurt. Yesterday, I filled up a huge brown paper grocery bag full of drugs for a patient with type 2 diabetes. 6 of these meds were for diabetes and 3 or 4 more were for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The patient had maxed out their insurance and so the bill was about $600 Cdn. This for a patient obviously overweight and not yet 60 years old! I wish this were a rare occurrence but this scene is played out every day in my job. We need your video to be played on a continuous loop in doctor's offices, grocery stores and pharmacies. The lives of our type 2 patients depend on them hearing the truth and taking it to (their not very healthy) hearts. No more lies!
This is happening in Canada. My dad has DM- so far only type 2. He eats and drinks alcohol like he does not have DM. Apparently his glucose meter says okay or something to that effect when he is above 6. Dr. tells him he is okay with his prediabetic and diabetic readings. Thus my dad does NOT heed my concerns. I bought a BG/ketone meter and found out that my husband was continually prediabetic with his fasting am readings. He does like his carbs and does not exercise. I had to give up as it was too frustrating for me. I think my husbands health was or is not as bad as his brothers, as he did IF for years without knowing it. He would go without breakfast and lunch Monday to Fridays. Just coffee with 1/2 t. sugar. Two of his brothers died in their 50's with cardiac problems. His remaining brother has had 5- by pass surgery. I have finally let go. My job is to be the best I can be, Pray for them, and live out by example.
I was once told the first two lies by a previous employee at my Doctor’s office AND had believed it until two months ago. I had believed that I was doomed to be a diabetic for the rest of my life! I NO LONGER ACCEPT THAT!!!! I started a journey to beat this 2 1/2 months ago and videos like this are a Godsend!! Thank you!!!
Dr Berry - I reversed my diabetes thanks to your videos and it didn’t take me long. I eliminated sugar out of my diet and went on intermittent fasting for only 7 months. My doctor never told me it’s reversible.
On Omad Keto for nearly a year now and at 67 I feel like I was 20. Meanwhile i visited 4 different doctors to find a real good one but they all have a score of 10/10 in their ignorance (or lies?). Even a specialist on diabetes has this score, so I'm on my own with your help. I just ask them for a bloodtest with my own specifications and draw my own conclusions. I'll never trust doctors anymore! I am so grateful to all you real doctors on the internet who helped me off medications and gave me back a healthy life! Nearly all of my family have diabetes and when I tell something about the method they just mock me. So sorry for them.
My brother-in-law and mother-in-law are both diabetic and I suspect that some of the other family members are too if they were checked out properly. I tried to convince one of them to try my diet for a few weeks, he just looks at me and laughs as if I were crazy to think si know more than his doctor. Meanwhile, he’s started on a CPAP because he can’t even breathe. 😞

Humans won't listen when being told what to do, I know, i was like that. I had family tell me stuff, that i ignored but when it happened to me, that's when i changed. Just keep doing great! Tell them if they ask.
When I was diagnosed 13 years ago, I asked my dr for a diabetic diet. I was told no such diet exists. I asked what could be done and they said just don't eat carbs and exercise. Currently take 5 shots a day. 3 different medications. Always tired, always ache, etc. I'm thrilled to get this information. Thank you.

I had wondered what to call this lately. I have been telling people that my body can't tolerate carbohydrates, or "I'm allergic to carbohydrates". Chronic Carbohydrate Toxicity Syndrome (CTS). "I'm sorry, I can't eat that, I have CTS." It's as accurate a diagnosis as any of the "official paradigms".
30 years with T2; 12 on multiple daily injections of insulin; over a decade of severe disability... down over 125 lbs with non-diabetic A1cs for nearly 2 years on NO diabetic medications from keto + fasting!
Wow! That’s great news. I am a type 2 for 10 years. Went on keto and lost 45 lbs. I got cocky and started eating the carbs again and had a heart attack and quadruple bypass, one of the bypass arteries failed and I had another heart attack and stent put in. Just recently went for a cardiac cath procedure and had a stroke on the table and if that wasn’t enough, I have a blockage in my right leg. Not trying to be negative but thinking of doing Keto again but nervous about it. I am really glad to hear you are ok though. God Bless.
@@dinah7284 I had a bypass after my MI, but just a single one. Bunch of other health issues also; wound up on death's door with home health aids to help me with daily tasks about a decade after the initial heart attack. I couldn't even walk. For me, keto alone didn't do it; I turned my health around with a heck of a lot of fasting. There's a playlist on my channel specifically about how to reverse diabetes.
Been on a keto to low carb diet for 3 years. Finally my Doctor put into my record diabetes in full remission. Last A1C was 4.6 % and six month earlier 5.0%. It has stayed in the high 4% to low 5% consistently over the last 3 years. This really works.

Day I was diagnosed, I went keto and started intermittent fasting. I lost 100 lbs., and a1c went down to a 5.1. Blood sugar rarely goes over 110 after eating.
a random person, that is the key! By eating low carb you are preventing those spikes in glucose levels & preventing that crazy ravenous hunger that occurs when coming down from high glucose levels. Congratulations on your wonderful success!
I'm 100percent behind you. Weightwatchers did me no favours when I was trying to lose weight. Now I'm down at a weght I was when I left school over 50 years ago! (132 pounds give or take the odd pound). I'm doing low-carb and try not to go over 30 grams per day. It works, I came down from 5.3 to 4.3 within 3 months. No meds!!
I was a little critical of Kenny lately, but here he is absolutely right. Although none of the 10 points are any secret and you could arrive at those conclusions even without medical training. How medicine treats diabetes in our time is scandalous and when we'll look back in 50 years we will all be shaking our heads in disbelief.

Well doctor Berry after getting my Diabetes under control and having lost a lot of weight! I got my dad onto a Ketogenic diet and his Diabetes is a massive improvement for him. In just two months he has gone from ten medications to three medications🙂!! He has also lost 19kg and his readings have gone from sugar readings of anywhere as high as 22 down to as low as 6.2 or even 5.7🙂. I have also got him fasting 16/8 everyday and on two months he has gone from a Chronic Diabetic to almost being in total control 🙂.
Good day, I was diagnosed T2 in May with A1C at 13.5 and glucose at 454. Made sure my carb count was 60 grams or below, WAS doing hemalog, 3 units for each 50 over 150/ carb count, lantis, metphormin. Long story short, Tested A1C in August, which had dropped to 5.6 and glucose between 80 and 120 morning fast testing, (I still test before each meal and before bed). I have just watched one of your videos for the first time and........it blew me away! I realised that my weight loss program was making me feel better so I went to my GP (medical practitioner) and asked if he would let me try a keto diet. Encouragingly, they said " your cholesterol; readings are good so you can probably be OK with the low carb high fat approach". Despite this not being the NHS doctrine! Some 6 months later, (I have lost a total of 100 lbs in the last 3 years), I got round to telling my GP that I had not been taking my diabetes meds for 6 months (imagine what reaction I expected!) - his response? Are you monitoring your blood sugars and blood pressure? "Yes I said and they're both within good limits". Congratulations, you're no longer a Type 2 diabetic - and he removed all my diabetes meds from my patient profile!!!!! It works!!!@!

my grandmother, and folks of her generation, were very clear on the cause of T2D. She'd say that one person or other "has sugar" and wasn't allowed to eat cake or other carb food. She explained it quite well to me and she never even finished high school. Cause is right there in the expression!
Having the sugar meant no sweets but they ate carbs no problem. Potatoes, bread, noodles & macaroni, chips. My grandpa got the sugar. Slivers of cake at birthdays, I remember. But still ate the same moderate diet they always had-they both just had sweet tooths that he had to eliminate. He never injected insulin but took pills. Died in 1977 but not from diabetes.
Ppl did used to know that to lose wgt u stopped eating potatoes, bread and macaroni. The starchy things. They were innately smart lol Plus it worked. The food wasn’t so bad (it’s actually messed with) that a little adjustment to the diet worked well. Now we need to be extremist and it sucks.

When I was diagnosed with T2D I was told to eat wholegrains and low fat diet. I was given Metformin, which my body did NOT like, and the dosage crept up over time. I was told the condition was chronic and would deteriorate. Then I found your channel, changed to a keto diet and intermittent fasting and now my body works as it should. Off medication and A1c normal. Thank you Dr Berry for gifting me a normal life and helping me reverse T2D. I can have the occasional cheat day when I visit family, but straight back on keto when I get home.
I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Scared the heck out of me so decided to reverse with diet and I/F. Lost 120 lbs., and no longer need blood pressure medication. My A1C is 4.9 🤗🤸🏼 (I ‘m 78 years old)

I was just diagnosed with type 2. This was followed by hypertension, fatty liver and High cholesterol. I had a PE (blood clot in lungs) in May so I’m on blood thinner for the rest of my life because this was my second one. Blessed I’m alive. Well, finding a diet to work with fixing all of this plus watching my veggies that have vitamin K has been a challenge to say the least. Doctor is really watching my inr (thickness of my blood) while I do this. Im praying that doing keto and the intermittent fasting is going to reverse all this. I watched what diabetes did to my husband and I’m not doing that. I have watched several of your videos to try and help me on my journey.
Try to get the doctor to put you on the new blood thinners like eliquis(apixaban). You can eat whatever you want and no longer need to be tested for your blood. I changed from warfarin to apixaban and I can enjoy everything except grapefruit. I too was just diagnosed with diabetes 2, hypertension, high cholesterol and have had a Double PE last year as well as dvt. I started the keto diet two weeks ago and noticed the weight loss beginning already. Hopefully I will get my health back.
@@starbro112 I brought my issues under control. I truthfully believe it was God and the keto diet that got it under control. The only medication I’m currently on is the warfarin. The other blood thinners my insurance really doesn’t cover very well. All my blood work comes back within normal now.

Many diabetics say this cause that's their excuse to continue to eat their donuts and muffins in the morning with their sweet creamers and dessert at night. As long as they don't believe that it is curable by their diet, then they don't have to face it and change it.
Type 2 is usually lifestyle related... but, I know two adults who had been sick and then were diagnosed as type 1 diabetic. Whatever they had, had damaged their pancreas
Started by stopping all sugars, whole grains and starches. I eat meats, saturated fats and vegetables that grow above ground (No or minimal starches). In 2 1/2 months I dropped 25 lbs, my A1C went from 8.1 to 5.9 and my liver enzymes have improved, one is back in the normal range and the other is just a few points above normal. I’m so glad that I found this guy.
I suffered for YEARS unknowingly when I was finally diagnosed with T2D in 2015. At the time, the ketogenic approach was in its infancy. When I refused conventional treatment and decided to use keto and fasting to heal me, my doctor, at that time, discouraged me and was unsupportive. Thankfully, I stayed the course and have a normal A1C to this day of 5.4 in 2022

I have been a diabetic for 22 years. Tried every diet, vegan, raw, and juicing, numbers run 300- 400 on a daily basis. A1C 10 to 12 range. No one has ever told me I have hyperinsulin problems ! They just keep prescribing insulin.. Also have KP and the skin tags. Thank you Dr. Berry for explaining all of these problems. I have been carnivore for 2 weeks, sugars are getting better. 188 and 164 getting better, but still not great. KP is getting less noticeable. You are saving my life!!
I have been to several doctors now and none of them know anything about how to help me get rid of Type II with food. They just get mad and start yelling at me when I tell them I want to heal myself with food. I even had one tell me to find someone else upset I wouldn’t take meds. I am on the carnivore diet now and my glucose tests now are on the high end of normal fasting. I have a long way to go, but thanks to Dr Ken I am on my way!
I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. Doc put me on a bunch of prescriptions, and I called BS. Changed my diet, started exercising, and lost 40lbs. My A1C is now 5.0 and still going. Not on ANY medication!

I like how Dr Berry speaks in common terms and doesn't apologise for putting things bluntly. I have followed his advice for the past year and am now off all diabetes medication, no more statins and have lost over 15 kilo's in weight. If you have any doubt in what he is telling you, all you have to do is try to eat correctly and find out for yourself. What do you have to lose?
Correct!!! I followed his advice and it works!!! My own dr need to listen to this video to help his patient bc he lost me. Yep he argue with me to up my meds so he is no longer my dr. He told me it was a progressive disease there is no cure only meds to control it that i have to take lots of meds for the rest of my life. It was sad bc he didnt offer any solution or advice just wanted to pump me up on meds and kept me on high carb diets to worsen my condition to keep me always medicatrd.
Statins are not diabetes medication. They are for cholesterol and very dangerous. I refuse to take them even though my PC practitioner constantly pushes them. My cholesterol is only 250.
Been T2 for 40 years. Now , almost 84. Learning so much , alone! No doctor ( between visits). . . Making all the decisions each day. Education is key and discipline even more. The critical fight is dependent on intelligence.
I love the descriptive name "Chronic Carbohydrate Toxicity Syndrome" as the underlying root cause of hyperinsulinemia and subsequently (years later) diabetes! If only we can use the right words (concepts) to understand things, we have a much better chance.
My A1C was 6.9 and a year later was still 6.9... I was told to keep doing what I was doing, so I did continue to eat cookies, rice, sitting around, fast food, etc...and a year later was 9.3. Now a month later after changing my diet, more exercise, learning from a friend about T2D is down to 7.7 and I feel is lower right now, but we're waiting for the next check up. I think I am on the right track, my sugar was 229 and now is 90-105 constantly. After some meals goes up to 117-120 but back down to low 100-90. you are so correct, at 59 my A1c was 13 and going wrong way. I with my dr.'s approval and your videos stopped eating all ( sugar , I mean all sugar) and cut carbs to low as possible. In 6 months lost 90 lbs and have maintained it for a year. Wish I did this year's ago. My last A1c was 5.1 no meds. so happy now and feel great.
Dr Berry. I’m one of the thin diabetic people. My # 384 at hospital. A1C was13.8. Three months later with massive diet changes my A1C is 7.4. My question to you is what should my carb be per meal? I eat 3x per day. I had a heart attack 4 stents put in. Dr at hospital told me “ only reason your alive is because of your walking”. Thank you

July 2020 my A1C was 12.4 December 2021 my A1C was 5.6 with no medication. I’ve lost between 70-90# (I’m not sure because I don’t know what I weighed at my heaviest). All thanks to keto and IF. THANK YOU for the content you put on social media for us to see and learn!
I got a type-2 diabetes diagnosis on April 6th of this year. I was prescribed metformin, which brought me to this channel. I started a low carb diet, intermittent fasting, and am averaging 13,000 steps per day. I weighed 347 lbs. at time of diagnosis, and am down 61 lbs. in just 64 days. Thank you for tge guidance Dr. Berry! I have twice visited a nutritionist who is telling me my weight loss is too fast, unsustainable, low carb diets have not been studied enough to know if they're safe, and I am risking malnutrition.
I'm super skinny after loosing weight years ago with really good A1c but still have diagnosable heavy hyperinsulinimia. I just learned that it's still the reason for me still suffering. Nobody told me before, even after the hyperinsulinimia diagnosis. After some YT videos I now know. So I'll try controling it with Keto diet. So important you guys tell this publicly.
Thank you Dr Berry for addressing these issues. This is exactly what took my mom's life at the age of 49. Every lie mentioned in this short video is true. My mom died a painful death in Detroit she ended up going blind in one eye and her kidneys shut down but she never made it to dialysis because she had a heart attack. They told her she can continue to eat what she wanted and that fruit was a free food so she would stuff as much fruit down her gullet as she could and sometimes eat a week's worth of groceries in a couple of days. Because of the bad advice she was actually starving to death by just eating a bunch of fruit and getting fatter and fatter every day. Her bodyweight got out of hand and made her sedentary which cause more problems and she was immobile. Having done research on Diabetes myself because I was told it ran in my family I figured that out a long time ago I have not now nor if I ever been a diabetic and I refuse to take insulin and have changed my diet because of her painful death.
In just over 1 month, I have brought my estimated A1C down from 8% to 5.8% through diet alone. I started by quitting sugar & Intermittent Fasting (18:6), The following week I removed all starchy vegetables & increased my fating window to 20:4. From there I did Keto with OMAD for several weeks & in the past week I've gone full carnivore along with the OMAD (I tried 2MAD for a few days, but stalled my progress & went back to where I felt best which is with OMAD. I have also lost 23 lbs so far & have hit all of my weight/BMI/eA1C goals weeks ahead of where I thought I would be at this point. I owe you & Dr Jason Fung my life! I no longer have to fear going blind & having strokes & dementia like my grandmother did. Even though she lived to 94 years of age, those last 2 decades were plagued with those issues eventually losing her independence & her life :(
I just want to thank you for putting truth out here. June 18 I had a minor stroke, diagnosis with t2d, A1c 10.3, b/s over 400 and b/p +200. Came across your UA-cam started watching and applying. Follow up appointment A1c 5.3, b/p 121/58, lost 14 lbs, fasting b/s 110-120 average. So thank you for the help, hope and honesty. All by changing my diet, I eat on purpose now.
Went in for a checkup and pretty much as I was leaving , my doctor said oh and you also have a fatty liver without advising or even prescribing something. I had to look it up and treat myself. Its almost as though being unhealthy is allowed and encouraged.
In addition to checking the A1C, you should also get a HOMA-IR test. It checks for insulin resistance. Diabetes is stage-3 insulin resistance. Stage 2 is pre-diabetes. So if your insulin resistance is elevated, you can catch it early and never get to stage 2 or 3.
This presentation is great. I'm glad to learn these myths (lies) you have mentioned. They pretty much were all presented to me in the past. I was sure I'd be dead by now, but I'm not! I started Keto a year ago (lazy keto) to see if I could lose internal weight. Not knowing what to look for with that, I have assumed that itust have worked. My tests have gotten better. And I lost about 20 lbs as well. Didn't think I needed to lose that, but I did. My A1C is fine, so far. I have loweredy I take of insulin from around 30 units to 8 a day. My CKD has also lowered as well. Not much, but still... My current doctor wants to check all of that stuff and then will determine if I can back off of the insulin. I'm hoping that's the case. Keto really helped me with this. I didn't expect that positive a change but there it is.

When I went strict carnivore and stopped all sugar even the occasional carrot and onion in my pot roast my appetite changed. I'm comfortable eating once a day midafternoon. Thanks Dr. Berry.
My partner believes all of these lies and gets angry when I try to get him to stop eating cereals, tinned fruit, bread, margarine, cooking oils, potato chips, burgers and fries and drinking beer. He also has a huge 'beer belly' and at 72 starting to show obvious signs of the health problems caused by too much insulin. He thinks 7 is a good number too. I'm 30 kgs overweight but I eat low carb and my number is 5 and he can't understand why I'm not a type 2 diabetic. I'm going to end up being his nurse and watching him slowly die and It breaks my heart.
I also see so many friends and familymembers suffer. But they just believe everything the doctors say, just like they believe everything what's in the newspapers and MSM.

The only thing now is take the best care of yourself, he will see you looking and feeling better. Then at some point you say, “So how do you feel? How’s that working for you? It’s never too late to improve your way of eating.” My mom at 85 feels 50.
Must be frustrating for you. I like the Keto regime because I eat butter & hamburgers, use nut cooking oils & air fried Cauliflower. (Okay cauliflower isn't as good as potatoes.) But it's doable. Good luck.

Thank you for telling the truth. I'm a retired nurse and was taught all these in training. I only in past 5 years learned about hyperinsulinimia as I could not lose the weight needed to have my hip and knee replaced. Luckily I found a doctor who recognized what was going on with this started helping me make the necessary changes emphasis on diet and Am delighted with my new lifestyle and new joints.
Wow, I really needed that. I work hard daily, but my diet is loaded with carbs. A1C @ 8. I'm not one to share my personnel info, but I need to hold myself accountable.
Doctors who agree with Dr. Berry yet still treat their patients according to the 10 lies, because it's just easier that way, must feel trapped within the prison of establishment medicine. It's rare and amazing that doctors like Ken and others we know on UA-cam have broken out of that prison and returned to it to free the inmates.
It would be much easier and less time consuming to NOT address the lies. A doctor could refer a patient to this channel and Dennis Pollock's instead of responding to these questions. They do not need to agree 100% with Dr. B to see what is working for diabetics.
I was diagnosed officially a few days ago, and fall under the "normal" bodytype type 2 range. Super frustrating to find out, but I'm glad I learned now instead of after the damage. I'm struggling right now with the new diet, but I also know it's better to be a little sad about my food than have no toes or a shot liver.
I was a pre diabetic two years ago and suffered from peripheral neuropathy. I thank God I discovered your channel as well as other Keto UA-cam channels. I gave Keto a try but the results really came when I went Carnivore and later “Ketovore”. I completely reversed my pre diabetes and no longer suffer from peripheral neuropathy thanks to my diet of eggs, bacon and sausage for breakfast and Salmon or Steak or Chicken with asparagus/broccoli/ cauliflower for dinner. The occasional snack being canned Oysters or Sardines. Outside of meat is Kale, Asparagus, Brussels, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Spinach and Pecans/Walnuts. Oh and coffee of course.
Was a laboratory scientist all my adult life. Believed the lie. It was only after i had gastric bypass surgery at 65 and went on their diet of protein first, then vegetables and carbs only if your still hungry did i realize the lie. My diabetes, gout, psoriasis, high blood pressure and knee pain totally went away. If i’d known about fasting and carnivore diet first i would have done it.
Mother Hubbard , thank you for the comment. Now, I'm going to look into the eating plan that doctors give to people after gastric bypass surgery. Additional to note is that I've heard that people, who lose weight after gastric bypass surgery, can gain all the weight back and be obese if they eat the wrong things

My nephew, at 14 years, has T2 diabetes, while his mother let's him eat anything, and everything, especially school breakfast and lunch, so as to reduce her expenditure... It's terrible, because she has screamed from all the roofs that her gestational diabetes has nothing to do with her progress into the deep end, and that not everyone can be like me and loose weight and avoid "pre" diabetes exploding into neuropathy and kidney failure. Because, of course I didn't go to medical school, so either I'm lying or I'm just hateful and don't want anyone to eat cake. The worst, though, is that at one point because I was doing all the cooking, my sister had lost weight, and was beginning to see her blood glucose levels plummet. Apparently, she's the type that requires a personal cook and a private shopper to keep her on track. Thank you for this. It's hard for some to hear, bit it must be said.

I am T2D. I was on meds where both my foot went numb after taking them. I went to the dr 3x but i got ignore. I had to take control of my health. Yes cutting sugar, grains, process foods, cakes, donuts, ice creams, and 6 meals a day really help!
I was told I was prediabetic 4 years ago. My doctor immediately Prescribed metformin. It made me feel like crap. Diet and exercise is EVERYTHING. Totally curable. Drug companies and kick backs are killing people. I like this guy too. very helpful. :)

Ben - my doctor had diagnosed me as "pre-diabetic" many years ago and I generally managed both my glucose levels and my A1C with diet. I gave up any added sugar (mostly soda and snacks), most starches (bread, pasta, potatoes, beer, etc.), and became aggressive with carb counting (~100g daily), and I dropped 25 pounds in 2-3 months. I thought I was doing pretty well for the intervening years and then COVID struck along with some family tragedies followed by retirement. I allowed my diet to go unchecked for the better part of last year and was drinking more than I should. For my annual physical in fall 2020, my levels were normal but my 2021 physical was just last month and I had gained back the 25 pounds, my A1C was 10.0, and my glucose was 397! My doctor prescribed metformin and added dapagliflozin (Farxiga) after a follow up visit. I immediately began monitoring my glucose levels daily and resumed my aggressive carb counting, shooting for between 50-100g of carbs daily.
Long story short, in just over a month's time my glucose levels are down to around 100 and I've dropped 12 pounds. A comment above used the term CARNeto diet - my regimen now is lean meat and a variety of vegetables (avoiding the starchy ones), water, and zero-sugar sodas if I want something different. I'm hoping that my next A1C in March will also show improvement and that I haven't done too much damage to my body during the time I was not paying the sort of attention to my diet that I should have. Dr. Berry is right on about managing your diabetic health through what you eat.
I hate to say it but current medical research does not support the idea that type 2 can be cured.
I was diagnosed with type 2 about 2 years ago. My sugar was 374 and a1c was 12. I have completely reversed this condition with diet alone. Everything that was said here in this video is 100% true.
What changes did you make?
@dozermand6ify the first thing I did was cut out all the drinks that were loaded with sugar, soda and juice mostly. That in itself made a huge difference. I also started drinking a lot more water. Next, I started paying more attention to what I was eating. I cut out all of the deserts and cut down on the carbs, and overall calories in general. There are actually a lot of food alternatives that are just as satisfying but are a lot better for you. You just need to do a little homework and find the ones that appeal to you the most. This is totally reversible, the doctors that tell you otherwise are full of it.
In 3 months I dropped my A1C from 6.2 to 5.6

This completely backs up what I have suspected for decades. 25 years ago my father was diagnosed with T2D and his doctor recommended a vegetarian diet full of wheat, grains, pasta and fruit. His diabetes accelerated out of control and he died at 52. This is an eye opening verification of what I have been suspecting for years. Thank you!

I have type one diabetes. I was 'fed' a load of nonsense when first diagnosed. I eventually found out what I needed to know for good control. It was nothing like I was told back then.
James, sorry for your loss. It hits home with me because I'm 52 now.
While I respect vegetarian & vegans, its the ultra militant ones who claim that plant based is end all, cure all to every human illness. Then the lemmings who are still omnivores who believe them and think that's what they have to do to get healthy. Professor Eran Segal gave a TED Talks where said that there is no perfect diet and that everybody is different, which I definitely believe.
My younger brother went vegan cold turkey with no problem. Meanwhile I tried vegetarianism for like 3 weeks and felt nauseous, dizzy, and weak. Even after trying to ease into it. My brother can eat carbs and not really put on weight. I spend 2 weeks eating carbs and I start to puff up. All my brothers and sisters like spicy foods. Me, can't handle it.

I am one of those skinny diabetics. I went to the doctor for a totally unrelated problem 11 years ago and "accidentally" found out that I was diabetic. I would have went on for many, many years never knowing it. This knuckle headed doctor basically told me that it was degenerative and to protect my feet from injury. He said absolutely nothing about my diet. I fired him and did not go to the doctor again until 2017. The first thing my new doctor told me, who is a naturopath, was to get on a ketogenic diet. I finally listened to her and you and after 4 years I improved my A1C from 11.7 to 6.0 last month.

I'm also a skinny diabetic and my last A1c was 6.0. I'm trying very hard to bring it down to 5.5 without losing more weight. I was 115 lbs when I started eating low-carb and quickly went down to 96 lbs; I was very weak so I ate some rice and potatoes sometimes; I regained a few pounds and am currently 109 lbs. It's difficult but I'm not giving up or going back to the way that I was eating! We've to take care of ourselves and Praise God that we've Dr. Berry and other doctors on UA-cam to help guide us! I'm also a skinny diabetic but that wasn't always the case. Went from a muscular 200 pounds to 170 in about 4 months with no change to my diet. Was told I was a type 2 for years before I finally convinced my doctor (with evidence) that I'm a type 1.5. Then started insulin (Novolin N) once per day at dinner time, and haven't felt better in years after suffering for so long. Plus I put on some much needed muscle.
If you fall off the wagon with your diet, Dr.Berry with his enthusiasm always gets me back on track. Down 75 lbs another 45 to go! Love Dr.Berry!

My dad stopped over 10 years of Insulin injection and went for 90% keto. A1c dropped from 8.4 to 6. Lost 10kg.
I am T2D. I changed my diet from high carb to lchf diet, fasting and exercise. I loss weight from 164 to 115, A1C was 8.93 to 4.8 and glucose from 199+ to 100 or less. I am on supplements only and off meds. Dr Ken Berry is correct what he says. My dietition and pcp recommended 6 meals a day with snack between each meals which is dangerous!!! Yes i did followed it but my condition gotten worst which mean more meds so i changed my diet. I avoid bread, process foods, sugar, corn, grains, seed fats, juice soda, and fry foods.

Three months ago my A1C was at 8.5
I totally eliminated carbs, exercise every day, 18-hour intermittent fasting, and natural glucose-lowering supplements. Plenty of water and fiber. Today she is at 5.4
I’m striving for a similar result. 12/29/23 A1C = 7.1. 1/29/24 A1C = 6. The January result was, of course, due to IF (18/6), mostly but not exclusively PBWF diet, mixture of cardio and resistance exercise routine. I’m still conflicted about meat vs. plants. I’m splitting the difference by consuming sardines and eggs along with a multitude of salads. Thanks for your post. Most encouraging.

Given the results, the nutritionist reintroduced complex carbohydrates (e.g. sweet potatoes, lentils, chickpeas and beans) into my diet in small quantities (around 2 tablespoons/meal) with rice (1 level tablespoon/meal).

I'll say it again. I went from 10.6 A1C to a 5.5. I simply stopped having sugar and started a hi fat low carb diet. I did it from November when I was diagnosed to June at my 3rd Dr appointment. My next appointment because I did so well is not until December. Also my blood work was all in the normal range. Your research Dr Berry as was as others has saved my health. Instead of screaming "I'm debt free", I'm metabolic syndrome free!
Back in August 2017 I was hospitalized for 6 months with a severe heel ulcer (and a few smaller ones) that required 2 surgical debridements due to Peripheral Neuropathy in my legs and feet from T2 Diabetes.
When I was discharged in February 2018 I weighed 368 lbs. My Hba1c was 18!
I went on a Keto diet, and began Intermittent Fasting. By July 2018 my Hba1c was down to 4.8, and has remained between 4.8 - 5.6 ever since. I am off the 3 types of insulin I was on; as well as all oral diabetes meds except Metformin.
I have lost 140 lbs, walk up & down stairs unaided, and at age 62 have done a minimum of 50 Push-Ups every day since November 5th 2020 after not being able to do a single Push-Up for over 40 years. (Have been doing a minimum of 100 for the past 4 months )
I now follow a Carneto diet. (It's what most people WRONGLY call Ketovore since the Carnivore portion makes up the biggest part of the meal, so it deserves priority, while the veggies, etc - the "keto" portion adds some variety. Thus, CARNeto.) So T2 Diabetes can be reversed, as I have done so.

Actually not really. While not initially at least.
My Heel had basically healed after the surgeries, but I still had to wear an off loading boot after I was released from the hospital.
I began Keto/Carneto 3 weeks later. So it may have helped somewhat, but not initially.

Have you noticed ingesting carbs spikes your blood sugars differently from someone who has never had Diabetes? I am curious if it is ever possible to fully revert back to a normal state. It would be nice to have a cheat meal with friends and family a few times a year.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2008. Two years ago my A1C was about 10.1, the VA asked me to try the Virta Program, a mostly protein diet, no sugar or unhealthy carbs. I have lost over 40 lbs and my A1C runs between 5.3 to 6.0, feel much better.
I was told a year ago that I was "borderline" , nearly diabetic. I just started avoiding sugar, all grains, and trying to eat meats and veggies. In no way am I perfect at this, but I have lost about 20 lbs, and resumed my 1 meal a day eating. Feeling better, and I'm pretty sure that my metabolism is not borderline any more. It totally works.

I diagnosed with full blown type 2 in early April given Metformin and that was it. Nothing about changing diet, what to eat or not to eat or exercise, nothing. Just take the meds to help reduce it. I went home and spent numerous hours on UA-cam and googling about diabetes. It’s amazing how some of these doctors get to continue to practice.

Same thing happened to me. I had to get a friend to show me stuff about taking the blood test daily
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the first week of February. I followed the ADA dietary guidelines for diabetics for all of Feb and March. I actually had to increase the amount of insulin I was taking, and gained 1 lb. I went on a strict under 20 carbs diet in the first week of April, and I ended up taking my last shot of insulin on April 27th, and stopped the Metformin in mid May. I went full carnivore the first week of June, and on July 7th my A1C came back a 5.6. I also lost 40 lbs during all that. I feel better than I've felt in at least 20 years, maybe even forever. I'm off ALL my prescribed meds. BP meds, Protonix, Atorvastatin, all of it. My psoriasis has cleared up, my joints no longer hurt, my depression and anxiety are gone. The diabetes had caused my eye vision to start to blur. That went away and now I can actually read a book without putting my reading glasses on. My brain fog has cleared up and I now have tons of energy.

Good to hear. My doctor and RD have had me following ADA guidelines for quite awhile. I told them that I felt it was too many carbs. I was told I could go on another medication. I refused and am eating way fewer carbs.
My mom is type II. She kept hounding me to quit vaping, constantly on my ass about it. She probably took her blood sugar reading once every three months. She took her meds but her A1C was through the roof and she ate whatever. I made her a deal that I would quit vaping if she would take her BS once daily and wrote it down. It’s been about 7 months and her A1C is like half of what it used to be and I haven’t vaped. She’s lost about 50 pounds and has far exceeded my greatest expectations. Seeing her numbers improve has really motivated her and at this point she is doing it for herself and not just so I will continue to not vape.

Thanks to a video of Dr Berry’s called The Ketogenic diet and reversing type 2 Diabetes , that I watched back in November 2020, I HAVE reversed my type 2 diabetes! February of 2021 my A1C was 5.2, which was the highest since the start, and my lowest was 4.6 several months ago. The lowest numbers were because I incorporated intermittent fasting along with keto. You can do this too!

I’ve been a type 1 diabetic since 1970 and by going low-carbohydrate I finally was able to get A1C under 7%, usually around 6.3%. Endocrinologists were pleased with that despite disapproving of my diet. For the past year a near-carnivore diet has put my A1C under 5%. My current doctor… is on friendly terms with Dr. Berry, not surprisingly.

Wow good for you, it's crazy to think that the so-called American diet is actually harming all of us. The caveman didn't have bread and pasta so we shouldn't have it either. My mother is a type 2 diabetic and her endocrinologist about had a heart attack when she told him she wanted to go carnivore. They said she would starve to death because she wasn't eating any carbs for energy. What people don't realize is that when you're diabetic carbs actually make you tired they don't give you energy do they?

He's telling the truth. Combining keto, fasting, HIIT, and eTRF succeeded within just a mere 22 days in getting me off of heavy insulin shots, all meds, and ten years of Type-2. Eventually, over time, have now dropped 186 pounds with only 40 more to go. No hunger occurred.
You are correct, therefore the good doctor who I usually admire is perpetuating a further myth about diabetes. That it is caused by excess carbohydrates. Not true, the real culprit is food & eating too frequently. Carbs just don't help the situation but are not the true villains. Happy New Year! 😊

@@DeafSeattleGuy36 Some studies seemed to reveal that Early Time Restricted Feeding afforded an astounding # of big health benefits similar to Intermittent fasting but not as robust as I\\F. The eTRF method is where one eats all the food of the entire day within a 2 to 4 hour window but this window must end 9 or more hours prior to one's regular bedtime.
And a bonus lie, we need to eat carbs. Another lie, we need "healthy" whole grains and fruit to be healthy. I've lost 2 friends to diabetes complications, kidney failure. One friend I discussed Keto with after he lost one leg, told me he was interested and that he'd get back to me. A year later he lost his other leg, but he'd get back to me. 6 months later I attended his funeral. My "go to" video for type 2 diabetes has been Dr. Sarah Hallberg's, but now I'm including this video with hers. I thank you for your videos that I can share with friends and in my Keto group.

Well, actually, the body does require Carbohydrates. By majority it's just that people don't need to consume them, try to be more specific, please?
I feel as though you are part of the same choir I belong to. People are shocked that I do not eat fruit and I eat very little grains (just can't give up that half a sandwich at lunch sometimes). I do low carb and intermittent fasting. That works for me, but people still tell me that at my age (76) I deserve a little pleasure. My pleasure is being able to see and have healthy kidneys, neither of which people in my family have enjoyed.
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and the information they gave me still had me eating 150-200 grams or more of carbs a day! Glad to have found Dr. Berry.
I was told I had gestational diabetes, 7 years later I was diagnosed as a full blown T1D. I had a 10lb baby. Now I wonder if I just was a T1D all along...

@@maiaallman4635 Usually patients with gestational diabetes get a repeat OGTT 3-6 months after delivery. 7 years later is a long time after though. Furthermore Type 1 diabetes isn't caused by insulin resistance though, like type 2 diabetes is.
Thank you for speaking the truth, Dr. Berry. I have been a pharmacist for almost 40 years and I would truly wish that I could be put out of business. I wish I could stop dispensing buckets of drugs to type 2 diabetics who believe all these lies. I have been preaching the low carb diet for decades for my type 2 diabetes patients and literally no one will listen. I see my patients in the grocery store and I can't help but take a peek into their carts- carts piled high with chips, cakes, doughnuts, bread, pretzels, sugary yogurt. Yesterday, I filled up a huge brown paper grocery bag full of drugs for a patient with type 2 diabetes. 6 of these meds were for diabetes and 3 or 4 more were for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The patient had maxed out their insurance and so the bill was about $600 Cdn. This for a patient obviously overweight and not yet 60 years old! I wish this were a rare occurrence but this scene is played out every day in my job. We need your video to be played on a continuous loop in doctor's offices, grocery stores and pharmacies. The lives of our type 2 patients depend on them hearing the truth and taking it to (their not very healthy) hearts. No more lies!
This is happening in Canada. My dad has DM- so far only type 2. He eats and drinks alcohol like he does not have DM. Apparently his glucose meter says okay or something to that effect when he is above 6. Dr. tells him he is okay with his prediabetic and diabetic readings. Thus my dad does NOT heed my concerns. I bought a BG/ketone meter and found out that my husband was continually prediabetic with his fasting am readings. He does like his carbs and does not exercise. I had to give up as it was too frustrating for me. I think my husbands health was or is not as bad as his brothers, as he did IF for years without knowing it. He would go without breakfast and lunch Monday to Fridays. Just coffee with 1/2 t. sugar. Two of his brothers died in their 50's with cardiac problems. His remaining brother has had 5- by pass surgery. I have finally let go. My job is to be the best I can be, Pray for them, and live out by example.

I was once told the first two lies by a previous employee at my Doctor’s office AND had believed it until two months ago. I had believed that I was doomed to be a diabetic for the rest of my life! Dr Berry - I reversed my diabetes thanks to your videos and it didn’t take me long. I eliminated sugar out of my diet and went on intermittent fasting for only 7 months. My doctor never told me it’s reversible.
On Omad Keto for nearly a year now and at 67 I feel like I was 20. Meanwhile i visited 4 different doctors to find a real good one but they all have a score of 10/10 in their ignorance (or lies?). Even a specialist on diabetes has this score, so I'm on my own with your help. I just ask them for a bloodtest with my own specifications and draw my own conclusions. I'll never trust doctors anymore! I am so grateful to all you real doctors on the internet who helped me off medications and gave me back a healthy life! Nearly all of my family have diabetes and when I tell something about the method they just mock me. So sorry for them.
My brother-in-law and mother-in-law are both diabetic and I suspect that some of the other family members are too if they were checked out properly. I tried to convince one of them to try my diet for a few weeks, he just looks at me and laughs as if I were crazy to think si know more than his doctor. Meanwhile, he’s started on a CPAP because he can’t even breathe. 😞

When I was diagnosed 13 years ago, I asked my dr for a diabetic diet. I was told no such diet exists. I asked what could be done and they said just don't eat carbs and exercise. Currently take 5 shots a day. 3 different medications. Always tired, always ache, etc. I'm thrilled to get this information. Thank you.

I had wondered what to call this lately. I have been telling people that my body can't tolerate carbohydrates, or "I'm allergic to carbohydrates". Chronic Carbohydrate Toxicity Syndrome (CTS). "I'm sorry, I can't eat that, I have CTS." It's as accurate a diagnosis as any of the "official paradigms".
30 years with T2; 12 on multiple daily injections of insulin; over a decade of severe disability... down over 125 lbs with non-diabetic A1cs for nearly 2 years on NO diabetic medications from keto + fasting!
Wow! That’s great news. I am a type 2 for 10 years. Went on keto and lost 45 lbs. I got cocky and started eating the carbs again and had a heart attack and quadruple bypass, one of the bypass arteries failed and I had another heart attack and stent put in. Just recently went for a cardiac cath procedure and had a stroke on the table and if that wasn’t enough, I have a blockage in my right leg. Not trying to be negative but thinking of doing Keto again but nervous about it. I am really glad to hear you are ok though. God Bless.
@@dinah7284 I had a bypass after my MI, but just a single one. Bunch of other health issues also; wound up on death's door with home health aids to help me with daily tasks about a decade after the initial heart attack. I couldn't even walk.
For me, keto alone didn't do it; I turned my health around with a heck of a lot of fasting.

Been on a keto to low carb diet for 3 years. Finally my Doctor put into my record diabetes in full remission. Last A1C was 4.6 % and six month earlier 5.0%. It has stayed in the high 4% to low 5% consistently over the last 3 years. This really works.

I'm 100percent behind you. Weightwatchers did me no favours when I was trying to lose weight. Now I'm down at a weght I was when I left school over 50 years ago! (132 pounds give or take the odd pound). I'm doing low-carb and try not to go over 30 grams per day. It works, I came down from 5.3 to 4.3 within 3 months. No meds!!
I was a little critical of Kenny lately, but here he is absolutely right. Although none of the 10 points are any secret and you could arrive at those conclusions even without medical training. How medicine treats diabetes in our time is scandalous and when we'll look back in 50 years we will all be shaking our heads in disbelief.

Well doctor Berry after getting my Diabetes under control and having lost a lot of weight! I got my dad onto a Ketogenic diet and his Diabetes is a massive improvement for him.
In just two months he has gone from ten medications to three medications🙂!! He has also lost 19kg and his readings have gone from sugar readings of anywhere as high as 22 down to as low as 6.2 or even 5.7🙂. I have also got him fasting 16/8 everyday and on two months he has gone from a Chronic Diabetic to almost being in total control 🙂.
Good day, I was diagnosed T2 in May with A1C at 13.5 and glucose at 454. Made sure my carb count was 60 grams or below, WAS doing hemalog, 3 units for each 50 over 150/ carb count, lantis, metphormin. Long story short, Tested A1C in August, which had dropped to 5.6 and glucose between 80 and 120 morning fast testing, (I still test before each meal and before bed). I do Trulicity 4.5 mg once a week and Metphormin" OFF OF ALL OTHER MEDS NOW 😃
I have just watched one of your videos for the first time and........it blew me away!
I realised that my weight loss program was making me feel better so I went to my GP (medical practitioner) and asked if he would let me try a keto diet.
Encouragingly, they said " your cholesterol; readings are good so you can probably be OK with the low carb high fat approach". Despite this not being the NHS doctrine!
Some 6 months later, (I have lost a total of 100 lbs in the last 3 years), I got round to telling my GP that I had not been taking my diabetes meds for 6 months (imagine what reaction I expected!) - his response? Are you monitoring your blood sugars and blood pressure? "Yes I said and they're both within good limits". Congratulations, you're no longer a Type 2 diabetic - and he removed all my diabetes meds from my patient profile!!!!!

my grandmother, and folks of her generation, were very clear on the cause of T2D. She'd say that one person or other "has sugar" and wasn't allowed to eat cake or other carb food. She explained it quite well to me and she never even finished high school. Cause is right there in the expression!
Having the sugar meant no sweets but they ate carbs no problem. Potatoes, bread, noodles & macaroni, chips.
My grandpa got the sugar. Slivers of cake at birthdays, I remember. But still ate the same moderate diet they always had-they both just had sweet tooths that he had to eliminate. He never injected insulin but took pills. Died in 1977 but not from diabetes.
Ppl did used to know that to lose wgt u stopped eating potatoes, bread and macaroni. The starchy things.

When I was diagnosed with T2D I was told to eat wholegrains and low fat diet. I was given Metformin, which my body did NOT like, and the dosage crept up over time. I was told the condition was chronic and would deteriorate. Then I found your channel, changed to a keto diet and intermittent fasting and now my body works as it should. Off medication and A1c normal. Thank you Dr Berry for gifting me a normal life and helping me reverse T2D. I can have the occasional cheat day when I visit family, but straight back on keto when I get home.
I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Scared the heck out of me so decided to reverse with diet and I/F. Lost 120 lbs., and no longer need blood pressure medication. My A1C is 4.9 🤗🤸🏼

I was just diagnosed with type 2. This was followed by hypertension, fatty liver and High cholesterol. I had a PE (blood clot in lungs) in May so I’m on blood thinner for the rest of my life because this was my second one. Blessed I’m alive. Well, finding a diet to work with fixing all of this plus watching my veggies that have vitamin K has been a challenge to say the least. Doctor is really watching my inr (thickness of my blood) while I do this. Im praying that doing keto and the intermittent fasting is going to reverse all this. I watched what diabetes did to my husband and I’m not doing that. I have watched several of your videos to try and help me on my journey.

Try to get the doctor to put you on the new blood thinners like eliquis(apixaban). You can eat whatever you want and no longer need to be tested for your blood. I changed from warfarin to apixaban and I can enjoy everything except grapefruit. I too was just diagnosed with diabetes 2, hypertension, high cholesterol and have had a Double PE last year as well as dvt. I started the keto diet two weeks ago and noticed the weight loss beginning already. Hopefully I will get my health back.
@@starbro112 I brought my issues under control. I truthfully believe it was God and the keto diet that got it under control. The only medication I’m currently on is the warfarin. The other blood thinners my insurance really doesn’t cover very well. All my blood work comes back within normal now.

Many diabetics say this cause that's their excuse to continue to eat their donuts and muffins in the morning with their sweet creamers and dessert at night. As long as they don't believe that it is curable by their diet, then they don't have to face it and change it.

Started by stopping all sugars, whole grains and starches. I eat meats, saturated fats and vegetables that grow above ground (No or minimal starches). In 2 1/2 months I dropped 25 lbs, my A1C went from 8.1 to 5.9 and my liver enzymes have improved, one is back in the normal range and the other is just a few points above normal. I’m so glad that I found this guy.
I suffered for YEARS unknowingly when I was finally diagnosed with T2D in 2015. At the time, the ketogenic approach was in its infancy. When I refused conventional treatment and decided to use keto and fasting to heal me, my doctor, at that time, discouraged me and was unsupportive. Thankfully, I stayed the course and have a normal A1C to this day of 5.4 in 2022

I was informed by my doctors that my diabetics was incurable. But I successfully reversed my diabetes by switching to a Ketogenic diet.
My A1C was 6.7 and over the last five months I’ve brought it down to 5.2 by eating no simple carbs, no sugar and healthy meals. I’m also down 56 pounds in that same time frame.

I have been a diabetic for 22 years. Tried every diet, vegan, raw, and juicing, numbers run 300- 400 on a daily basis. A1C 10 to 12 range. No one has ever told me I have hyperinsulin problems ! They just keep prescribing insulin.. Also have KP and the skin tags. Thank you Dr. Berry for explaining all of these problems. I have been carnivore for 2 weeks, sugars are getting better. 188 and 164 getting better, but still not great. KP is getting less noticeable. You are saving my life!!
I have been to several doctors now and none of them know anything about how to help me get rid of Type II with food. They just get mad and start yelling at me when I tell them I want to heal myself with food. I even had one tell me to find someone else upset I wouldn’t take meds. I am on the carnivore diet now and my glucose tests now are on the high end of normal fasting. I have a long way to go, but thanks to Dr Ken I am on my way!
I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. Doc put me on a bunch of prescriptions, and I called BS. Changed my diet, started exercising, and lost 40lbs. My A1C is now 5.0 and still going. Not on ANY medication!

I like how Dr Berry speaks in common terms and doesn't apologise for putting things bluntly. I have followed his advice for the past year and am now off all diabetes medication, no more statins and have lost over 15 kilo's in weight. If you have any doubt in what he is telling you, all you have to do is try to eat correctly and find out for yourself. What do you have to lose?

Correct!!! I followed his advice and it works!!! My own dr need to listen to this video to help his patient bc he lost me. Yep he argue with me to up my meds so he is no longer my dr. He told me it was a progressive disease there is no cure only meds to control it that i have to take lots of meds for the rest of my life. It was sad bc he didnt offer any solution or advice just wanted to pump me up on meds and kept me on high carb diets to worsen my condition to keep me always medicatrd.
Statins are not diabetes medication. They are for cholesterol and very dangerous. I refuse to take them even though my PC practitioner constantly pushes them. My cholesterol is only 250.

Been T2 for 40 years. Now , almost 84. Learning so much , alone! No doctor ( between visits). . . Making all the decisions each day. Education is key and discipline even more. The critical fight is dependent on intelligence.

I love the descriptive name "Chronic Carbohydrate Toxicity Syndrome" as the underlying root cause of hyperinsulinemia and subsequently (years later) diabetes! If only we can use the right words (concepts) to understand things, we have a much better chance.
My A1C was 6.9 and a year later was still 6.9... I was told to keep doing what I was doing, so I did continue to eat cookies, rice, sitting around, fast food, etc...and a year later was 9.3. Now a month later after changing my diet, more exercise, learning from a friend about T2D is down to 7.7 and I feel is lower right now, but we're waiting for the next check up. I think I am on the right track, my sugar was 229 and now is 90-105 constantly. After some meals goes up to 117-120 but back down to low 100-90. stopped eating all ( sugar , I mean all sugar) and cut carbs to low as possible. In 6 months lost 90 lbs and have maintained it for a year. Wish I did this year's ago. My last A1c was 5.1 no meds. so happy now and feel great.
Dr Berry. I’m one of the thin diabetic people. My # 384 at hospital. A1C was13.8. Three months later with massive diet changes my A1C is 7.4.
My question to you is what should my carb be per meal? I eat 3x per day. I had a heart attack 4 stents put in. Dr at hospital told me “ only reason your alive is because of your walking”.

Hi. On a keto diet, eat 20 grams of total carbs or less per day. Count all carbs. You can do it. Shoot for 6 grams per meal if eating 3 meals.

July 2020 my A1C was 12.4

I got a type-2 diabetes diagnosis on April 6th of this year. I was prescribed metformin, which brought me to this channel. I started a low carb diet, intermittent fasting, and am averaging 13,000 steps per day. I weighed 347 lbs. at time of diagnosis, and am down 61 lbs. in just 64 days. Thank you for tge guidance Dr. Berry! I have twice visited a nutritionist who is telling me my weight loss is too fast, unsustainable, low carb diets have not been studied enough to know if they're safe, and I am risking malnutrition.
I'm super skinny after loosing weight years ago with really good A1c but still have diagnosable heavy hyperinsulinimia. I just learned that it's still the reason for me still suffering. Nobody told me before, even after the hyperinsulinimia diagnosis. After some YT videos I now know. So I'll try controling it with Keto diet. So important you guys tell this publicly.

Thank you Dr Berry for addressing these issues. This is exactly what took my mom's life at the age of 49. Every lie mentioned in this short video is true. My mom died a painful death in Detroit she ended up going blind in one eye and her kidneys shut down but she never made it to dialysis because she had a heart attack. They told her she can continue to eat what she wanted and that fruit was a free food so she would stuff as much fruit down her gullet as she could and sometimes eat a week's worth of groceries in a couple of days. Because of the bad advice she was actually starving to death by just eating a bunch of fruit and getting fatter and fatter every day. Her bodyweight got out of hand and made her sedentary which cause more problems and she was immobile. Having done research on Diabetes myself because I was told it ran in my family I figured that out a long time ago I have not now nor if I ever been a diabetic and I refuse to take insulin and have changed my diet because of her painful death.

In just over 1 month, I have brought my estimated A1C down from 8% to 5.8% through diet alone. I started by quitting sugar & Intermittent Fasting (18:6), The following week I removed all starchy vegetables & increased my fating window to 20:4. From there I did Keto with OMAD for several weeks & in the past week I've gone full carnivore along with the OMAD (I tried 2MAD for a few days, but stalled my progress & went back to where I felt best which is with OMAD. I have also lost 23 lbs so far & have hit all of my weight/BMI/eA1C goals weeks ahead of where I thought I would be at this point. I owe you & Dr Jason Fung my life! I no longer have to fear going blind & having strokes & dementia like my grandmother did. Even though she lived to 94 years of age, those last 2 decades were plagued with those issues eventually losing her independence & her life :(
I just want to thank you for putting truth out here. June 18 I had a minor stroke, diagnosis with t2d, A1c 10.3, b/s over 400 and b/p +200. Came across your UA-cam started watching and applying. Follow up appointment A1c 5.3, b/p 121/58, lost 14 lbs, fasting b/s 110-120 average. So thank you for the help, hope and honesty. All by changing my diet, I eat on purpose now.
Went in for a checkup and pretty much as I was leaving , my doctor said oh and you also have a fatty liver without advising or even prescribing something. I had to look it up and treat myself. Its almost as though being unhealthy is allowed and encouraged.
In addition to checking the A1C, you should also get a HOMA-IR test. It checks for insulin resistance. Diabetes is stage-3 insulin resistance. Stage 2 is pre-diabetes. So if your insulin resistance is elevated, you can catch it early and never get to stage 2 or 3.
This presentation is great. I'm glad to learn these myths (lies) you have mentioned. They pretty much were all presented to me in the past. I was sure I'd be dead by now, but I'm not! I started Keto a year ago (lazy keto) to see if I could lose internal weight. Not knowing what to look for with that, I have assumed that itust have worked. My tests have gotten better. And I lost about 20 lbs as well. Didn't think I needed to lose that, but I did. My A1C is fine, so far. I have loweredy I take of insulin from around 30 units to 8 a day. My CKD has also lowered as well. Not much, but still... My current doctor wants to check all of that stuff and then will determine if I can back off of the insulin. I'm hoping that's the case. Keto really helped me with this. I didn't expect that positive a change but there it is.

When I went strict carnivore and stopped all sugar even the occasional carrot and onion in my pot roast my appetite changed. I'm comfortable eating once a day midafternoon. Thanks Dr. Berry.
My partner believes all of these lies and gets angry when I try to get him to stop eating cereals, tinned fruit, bread, margarine, cooking oils, potato chips, burgers and fries and drinking beer. He also has a huge 'beer belly' and at 72 starting to show obvious signs of the health problems caused by too much insulin. He thinks 7 is a good number too. I'm 30 kgs overweight but I eat low carb and my number is 5 and he can't understand why I'm not a type 2 diabetic. I'm going to end up being his nurse and watching him slowly die and It breaks my heart.
I also see so many friends and familymembers suffer. But they just believe everything the doctors say, just like they believe everything what's in the newspapers and MSM.

Must be frustrating for you. I like the Keto regime because I eat butter & hamburgers, use nut cooking oils & air fried Cauliflower. (Okay cauliflower isn't as good as potatoes.) But it's doable. Good luck.

Thank you for telling the truth. I'm a retired nurse and was taught all these in training. I only in past 5 years learned about hyperinsulinimia as I could not lose the weight needed to have my hip and knee replaced. Luckily I found a doctor who recognized what was going on with this started helping me make the necessary changes emphasis on diet and Am delighted with my new lifestyle and new joints.
Wow, I really needed that. I work hard daily, but my diet is loaded with carbs. A1C @ 8. I'm not one to share my personnel info, but I need to hold myself accountable.
Doctors who agree with Dr. Berry yet still treat their patients according to the 10 lies, because it's just easier that way, must feel trapped within the prison of establishment medicine. It's rare and amazing that doctors like Ken and others we know on UA-cam have broken out of that prison and returned to it to free the inmates.

It would be much easier and less time consuming to NOT address the lies. A doctor could refer a patient to this channel and Dennis Pollock's instead of responding to these questions. They do not need to agree 100% with Dr. B to see what is working for diabetics.
That only shows that it was always for the wrong reasons that they became physicians.

I was diagnosed officially a few days ago, and fall under the "normal" bodytype type 2 range. Super frustrating to find out, but I'm glad I learned now instead of after the damage. I'm struggling right now with the new diet, but I also know it's better to be a little sad about my food than have no toes or a shot liver.

I was a pre diabetic two years ago and suffered from peripheral neuropathy. I thank God I discovered your channel as well as other Keto UA-cam channels.
I gave Keto a try but the results really came when I went Carnivore and later “Ketovore”.
I completely reversed my pre diabetes and no longer suffer from peripheral neuropathy thanks to my diet of eggs, bacon and sausage for breakfast and Salmon or Steak or Chicken with asparagus/broccoli/ cauliflower for dinner.
The occasional snack being canned Oysters or Sardines.
Outside of meat is Kale, Asparagus, Brussels, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Spinach and Pecans/Walnuts. Oh and coffee of course.
Macadamia nuts are good too!

Was a laboratory scientist all my adult life. Believed the lie. It was only after i had gastric bypass surgery at 65 and went on their diet of protein first, then vegetables and carbs only if your still hungry did i realize the lie. My diabetes, gout, psoriasis, high blood pressure and knee pain totally went away. If i’d known about fasting and carnivore diet first i would have done it.

Additional to note is that I've heard that people, who lose weight after gastric bypass surgery, can gain all the weight back and be obese if they eat the wrong things

I just can't believe people, humans can keep it below 5.6. It's impossible. Our body fluctuates through our days and months and years. We all know what to eat and when. Moderation is the key. Thanks Dr. Berry. Love your channel.
My nephew, at 14 years, has T2 diabetes, while his mother let's him eat anything, and everything, especially school breakfast and lunch, so as to reduce her expenditure... It's terrible, because she has screamed from all the roofs that her gestational diabetes has nothing to do with her progress into the deep end, and that not everyone can be like me and loose weight and avoid "pre" diabetes exploding into neuropathy and kidney failure. Because, of course I didn't go to medical school, so either I'm lying or I'm just hateful and don't want anyone to eat cake. The worst, though, is that at one point because I was doing all the cooking, my sister had lost weight, and was beginning to see her blood glucose levels plummet. Apparently, she's the type that requires a personal cook and a private shopper to keep her on track.
