Tried this yesterday and I want to say THANK YOU for making such a clear and detailed video! My hair looked so much better then it usually does using this method. I’m only 4 months into my curly journey and still trying to get the hang of everything, so I was stunned when your method worked on my first try. I highlighted my hair blonde and have about 4-5 inches of roots. Up until now I was of the opinion that damaging my hair made it easier to maintain, both when I wear it curly and straight. This method not only gave those roots texture, something that has never happened before in my journey, but the roots looked so much better then the bleached ends due to actually being healthy. This has totally changed my perspective on my hair! Thank you! I’m not sure I’ll give up color completely, but I figure I can grow most/all of the bleach out and go from there. The only issue I’ve run into is that a couple of my curl clumps are exactly where I part my hair, so I gotta either figure out how to style that effectively or change my part. Nothing to do with your method, just one of those annoying things. 🤣
I just revisited this technique after having a session with Courtney. It's so good. A skill I'm going to work on mastering. I was struggling with getting any definition at my roots and taking forever to brush curl and for the first time have curls to the rood. Also realized after a year of going curly that I have not been using anywhere enough product. And that I've been brush curling some of my curls the wrong direction. Don't be afraid to experiment and take notes on what words and does not. And remember to embrace the frizz, it's just a curl waiting to happen.
Courtney, I think you just saved my life. This is the first time I’ve been able to wash my hair upside down without having a mess in the back. THANK YOU 👏🏻
OMG! I’ve been struggling to get my wavy hair to not be plastered to my head (in back). I’ve been upside down, side to side and leaning back and your technique with swing has seemed to work! And yes my hair even clumped! Thank you!!!
I'm in a slump (medical flare) and your trick will be my next shower attempt! Thanks for always taking one for the curly family by working so hard (in many ways) to educate us. :-)
I can't do lots of head swinging because I have an occipital through C5 fusion thanks to childhood rheumatoid arthritis. But I just want to say that I do most of your method, and you were the one I first found when I started embracing my wavy hair in 2020, and you are the one that I've stuck with. There are a number of reasons for this colon you are a delightful personality;you understand and explain clearly the science behind all of the hair stuff, whether hair products or how our hair follicles grow or whatever; You share just enough of your personal life to make you human and to be helpful to others while still protecting the privacy of your family; and you are also dealing with RA, which I have battled for all but 8 years of my life. Honestly, I can't imagine a better person to go to when I want to learn wavy curly hair stuff, and I've tried lots of other people and I don't want to disc them at all. You are just by far the most helpful for me. I just wish I could be helpful in return for you with your RA journey. But I believe that you, with your strong faith (which I wish I had had growing up with RA as a child) And your knowledge of science and your patience will all get you through this really well. Plus, there are so many better medications now available to treat the illness. I wish you all the best all for you and for your family. Thank you so, so much!
@@alysonknop8395 Haha! I've definitely had voice dictation fail me in awkward ways in the past. It's really unfortunate that English uses the same word to describe both a punctuation mark AND a part of our intestines!😆
I'm gonna try this on my next wash day! Still in the transitioning phase but I think I'm truly starting to get the hang of how to care for me hair now. Largely thanks to all your videos 😊
One extra point: make sure not to hit your head while swinging around! Your methods have helped me create my own hair day routine, so don’t feel embarrassed ‘cause you’re fabulous!
Thank you so much. I tried it once and got a compliment from my hairdresser. I tried it a second time to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. To my wonderful surprise my curls looked great. Thanks so much my waves had been stringy and I didn’t know how to solve it . Thanks so much , I finally feel good about my waves ❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations on naming your method! That's so awesome! I've been doing most of this method minus the swing for awhile and still have been struggling with hair getting stuck a bit on the back of my head and curls not wanting to form correctly in some places. I'm definitely going to add the swing! Will let you know about my results. Thanks Courtney!
I love how you demonstrated your method super clearly. The proof is in the pudding, it clearly works. It won’t be the method for me, not just cause of the medical stuff, but because I don’t have the patience to scrunch like that! :)
Okay, I know this is an older video but I just did this method for the first time today and all I have to say is WOW!!! It really works! I’m new to my curly hair journey, and I was struggling to get my 2A/2B hair to hold curls and to get root volume which is a must for me. This gave me the biggest curls I have ever gotten since I started my journey and as I was diffusing I made sure I kept moving all my hair from side to side to get the roots to dry while they were flipped up to the other side then I just repeat by slowly flipping my hair to the other side and diffusing till my hair was mostly dry. This SCC method helps keep the roots from sticking to my head which prevents me from getting volume. After I SOTC I still had amazing curls and volume! Thanks for this!!! It’s exactly what was missing in my routine!🙌🏻❤️
I cut off all my chemically straightened hair in January and started learning how to care for my naturally wavy hair. I've done the scrunch method and the finger coiling and tried your SCC method yesterday and OMG it gave me beautiful waves with great texture on the very first try! This will save me 40 minutes of finger coiling on wash hair days! Even my husband said this was the best my hair has looked! Thanks for your video!
Yes! Stake your claim! I have early onset arthritis in my neck and it's painful to stay upside down more than 3 minutes, but I've been trying your movements gently and staying more horizontal to get similar results!
Same, I have degenerative spine, but tipping my head does help a bit! I still have no volume up top, but I think it's just my hair's thing... my curls are decent even so!
I have medium length thick wavy/ curly hair. I have been doing the cgm for almost a year. The denman brush and finger coiling made my clumps too big. Your method works with my hair. Thank you for demonstrating it!
Omg I've been unknowingly using a version of this method for a while now! The only difference is that I wash right side up and then swing and shake (like a dog 😂) to align my clumps. It's the easiest and quickest way to do my hair, nothing else works!! I've got super fine, delicate, low density hair and brush styling leads to so much hair fall! Will definitely be trying your version today 🙂
Not ridiculous at all!! I have not straightened my hair for three years, but I have always finger curled the front of my hair. Then I had to go in and (gasp!) curl those sections the next day with a curling iron. Since trying your method, I have learned that the front of my hair actually curls the OTHER WAY! and now I have ringlets in the front that are still there on day two! So thank you!
Yess loving you going more into the SCC method! I have been doing this for years (not as violently swinging lol) after seeing how you style on soaking wet hair in all your videos the past few years
Yay! This is the first method that has worked for me without it being weird in the back AND it gave me curl clumps way more easily than usual. Thank you!!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney yes!! Thank you!! 😀 My hair is very similar to yours (super fine, similar curl pattern, similar length and color, yours is denser, though), and so are my preferences; your shiny, soft and touchable-looking yet defined loose spiral curl clumps are my hair goals!! 😍 (The main difference between my hair and yours is that strangely, my hair goes stringy whenever I use anything with even a little bit of protein. So for now, I'm sticking to lightweight moisture only, and monitoring it to make sure it doesn't get overmoisturized.)
I never comment on videos but I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I had no hope my hair could be anything close to yours but I was wrong! I found your channel today and followed another video you made, in it you were not twirling your head, but still I got curls!! I’m so excited and I wanted to thank you for that. Next time I’ll try twirling my head. And please do spread your method around. I used to try to get my hair to make curls but would end up with stringy curls that didn’t look good at all. I think what was missing for me was that I wasn’t using water at all when applying products. You really know what you are talking about, thanks again !
I love the swinging the head around. I just tried this, currently have my hair in a plop after doing the whole swing thing. I have been trying to have nice wavy curls for some time, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I think this will work well.
Ok I did your method last night and I just had the best wavy hair day I've ever had! I'm a year and a half into my wavy hair journey and I was getting discouraged because I couldn't get my clumps dry without them messing up. But this broke up the big clumps and made them a size that will actually stay together and the shining and scrunching got enough water out that it'll actually dry! (My husband also go me a shark diffuser for Mothers day so that helped too!) Thank you for doing this video and naming your technique, it's going to help so many people!
@swavycurlycourtney Same. I wish I would have watched before washing. Might just have to wash again tomorrow just to try this out! Great job, Courtney! I started the CGM with you, and I keep coming back for more! I can already tell this method is going to work well for my hair.
@@hmitchoff yasss! I really got into embracing this crazy curly mane because of Courtney and I am so so glad I did. The CGM is so much quicker and healthier then blowfrying and straightening!
I’m so excited to try this on my next wash day (although I may have to alter it a bit since a have severe arthritis in my lower back). I’ve only been embracing my natural waves/curls for just over a year and am still struggling with styling them even though I have probably spent more $$ on products then in the last 15 years, and far more time stressing over my hair….
I just started my curly hair routine again after giving up a couple of years ago! I’ve had major problems with my hair due to my thyroid and it kind of lost it’s curl 😞 so I tried this today since it’s my wash day and let me just tell you, my curls haven’t looked this good in many, many years!!! I encourage everyone to try this! Thank you so much for your help and great content ❤️
Courtney!!! This method is amazing!! Thank you for sharing it and giving it an awesome name too! I’ve never had such a good hair day!! I followed along whilst I was washing my hair and it’s just dried and the difference is amazing!! Minimal frizz and SO shiny too! Oh and the curl clumps 👌👌. THANK YOU!! 😆
I really like this method. Covid struck and my hair fell out as a result. It's so short now that swinging just doesn't happen. I love how your curls do come together as you style. Maybe one day my length will be long enough to try your method.
This. This technique just gave me my best wash day of. My. Life!! I’ve also tried Kinky-Curly Curling Custard… 😮!!!! I’m in love 🥰. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!… for showing us how to lean into how we are fearfully and wonderfully made!! I appreciate your videos so much.
Great job!! It is not rediculous. I’m trying this next wash day. I try so many different ways and can’t get it to where I am totally happy. This SCC method looks promising😻 thank you
Holy Curly Cow!! I tried this and I finally have larger and very natural clumps! And more height at the crown!! Takes a bit longer to diffuse, but WORTH it! Just sent this video to my curly daughter!
I would love to see how you do it in a more confined space. I feel like my hair won't twirl like yours does because I hit the walls and door of my shower. Or maybe a video of you critiquing and helping someone who is doing it wrong, do it right. I definitely feel like I'm doing it wrong. 😅 You are awesome. Thank you thank you for helping all of us.
UPDATE: tried this method TWICE now. WOW! I have 2c, but mostly 3a curls so I don't have to cajole a whole lot for spirals. That said, I've tried this method TWICE now and wowsers if my curls could talk they'd be like "YES MOMMA!" I am trying various products on this method now since my first attempt is a gel that works great but has terrible hold on day 2-3. That said, even my put-up hair had the cutest curls on the edges (I clip and flip and let the curls flop around.) Have some issues with getting my hair to lay down again when soaking wet post product and Perfect Hair towel (while I get dressed)... but a light comb gets things unclumped a little. Still practicing but feels more idiot-proof for sure!
I have been a follower of yours for year! My hair is very similar to yours, fine and wavy! I have never tried your method until today. I think I need to use a little more water and a tad more gel next time but overall easy method and beautiful results! I think it saved me less time than brush styling too!
OMG Courtney I have never been able to get good results with upside down styling, until today! My hair is much like yours but not fine and I am more on the wavy side. First time in a year since starting this journey and I got the best waves! Thank you so much for sharing your method!!!💖
Yes, I love this method! I found your videos summer 2020 and since then I’ve done a slightly modified CGM (still use sulfates to clarify before deep conditioning once in a while). I’ve gotten a few ringlets in my hair swinging my head around 😊 when I don’t style upside down, my roots look ridiculous too 😂 so I’m very thankful I’m able to hang upside down for a long time! Love the videography in this video too!
I'd like to see what some of the adaptations (in the shower, for those with neck problems, etc) to this method look like. How do you manage/control the frizz? I think all this movement would induce frizz.
I started with this method two years ago (!! I can’t believe it’s been two years) I’ve made slight modifications but it’s what I always come back to when I need a tried and true technique that is easy and work!
Thanks for a full video of your technique! I know why it's swing but I keep wanting to say swirl since it rhymes with curl! Thanks for all your helpful videos!
I am literally doing this method as I type. I will say space is an issue if you have long hair. My hair, when wet, goes past the middle of my back. I have a rather narrow bathroom. Swinging my hair is a huge challenge at the moment. I can do it, but not with the force I would like. I will comment later how it all turned out...lol...
@@mirroravis it turned out awesome! I ended up having to go to bed without diffusing and it being slightly damp, but in the morning it looked amazing!!! Very defined and minimal frizz!!! I am so impressed!!!!
Hair came out awesome even without diffusing!!! I am so impressed!!! Thank you so, so much Courtney!! My hair hasn't been this defined in forever!!! The fact that it turns out like this without diffusing is incredible!!! Even though my bathroom space is limited, I still managed to do some swinging around....thank you again for this method!!
I love your videos. You don't look the least bit ridiculous 😊 I only just started watching your videos about 1 yr ago. I've learned so much about my hair from you. I never could figure out why my hair was so frizzy the moment I ran a brush through it. I've always known I've had some wave in my hair but I just called it body. I am still trying to figure out my hair. But my hair is so much healthier. I still color my hair. That will never stop. I don't want to be gray 😝 I still use my joico shampoo. I know it has all those things that they say not to use. But the girl that cuts my hair says it is so healthy. Anyway, I want to say thank you 😊. Your hair looks amazing. God bless you.
This really helped me. I've been watching your channel awhile and thought I had tried your method and that it didn't work for me. I was definitely not doing the swing correctly and I have had much better results the last two times I have tried. Whenever styling upside down before I'd end up with a tangled mess at the back of my head, but this solved that problem completely! My only struggle now is trying to find a good place to part once it's dry - I don't really get a straight one that goes all the way back so it looks a bit weird to me, but I did get incredible volume in my roots so I don't mind too much!
Also wanted to say that I finally tried styling over the tub and found that it was much easier to get the correct amount of water in my hair. For some reason it seemed much easier than in the shower!
I’m a newbie. I’ve been TRYING to go through the steps your way, and I must say as I wait for my hair to air dry this afternoon…the SCC method sure looks like it paid off! Thanks!
This method absolutely changed the wavy girl game for me and I don't usually leave comments but I came back to directly say thanks! My long blond most waves are suddenly long spiral curls. I already personally observed some of what you said working for me, it's awesome to see it combined with more things like brushing it off the top of the crown (not sure if it's this video) but i loved it so much it lasted the night, dry ploped in a satin scarf, and the same curls and waves were there no refresh! I didn't want to fluff it bc for the first time I have definition and much less frizz and I was curious is how I could add body and taking up the spirals without breaking them up. I'm low on funds and still cannot find a curl mousse or a gel that doesn't make my strands stringy and dry. Any suggestions? [Sidebar I knew you must be from the south the minute I heard you pronounce "RE-fresh" 😅 South Louisiana sister here just chillin' at sea level actually loving the humidity! I'm hooked, girl! Please post more about humidity and how we can make it work for us!] Much to say here but I'd love to see so much more. My hair type is like yours but it is damaged from natural highlights from the Sun and touch ups in the winter (you could tell how many years have been the I had a haircut by counting the lines of highlight in my hair like the rings of a tree), and I thought it was just horizontal crimpy waves when I started the cgm. Or I see you speaking as if you would relate to my explanation to others that my hair isn't curly or straight. It just kinda does *blows raspberry." You have proved me wrong for sure! My mother has kinky curly curls and shamed me for my waves and abused my hair with heat styling for dance recital and weekly wash day and blowbout straight, sun-in, bang perms, perming it straight but telling me they messed up because I asked for a curly perm, and blow dry to heat soft curls for my communion pictures. It goes in but she just didn't accept herself. Now I'm conditioning to decondition all that and take back my power! Mom used to slowly brush my hair, look at me in the eye from behind me in the mirror, and dramatically drop her voice and say "people would kill for your hair," when I tell you I slept with one eye open and it was my lazy eye for a matter of months because little does she know we were learning about native Americans and scalping in school and I was convinced a someone was going to climb up into my bedroom and take my hair!😅 I digress :-) I love your vibe I love your energy and I hope to see more. I have not watched your videos yet on rheumatoid arthritis but I am dealing with chronic pain from a fall dancing in New York City that is disabled me for a few years now (praying for a change soon so I can get out again and show off all the things I learned from you to prepare my hair. I am enjoying learning to exercise new hair habits well I am unable to dance or jog. Thanks for enhancing a life 😊 I would love to send you photos my hair progress because I don't have the energy to start a page but I most certainly would be friends with you! And the picture before versus the ones after I did your swim at it or just baffling. Thanks again girl! I also have the same hairline as you and the tail of my brow is thinner too. I would also learn about that and how we can embrace them or improve them naturally, making them rock for us like you do. Girl you are beautiful and informative! Many many thanks! 😊
Even if I didn't have herniated disks in my neck, my large, crazy, swirl shaped cowlick at the back of my head plus stubborn growth patterns towards the front half of my head cannot be styled upside down. I have tried every single trick in the book, multiple times. Even my curly hair stylist I go to (who is amazing!) Couldn't really get it to work. She had initially done it by only flipping the hair up until the cowlick, but due to the growth patterns which goes down each side of my head, it wouldn't cooperate. She still managed to do it, but we had to do a LOT of re arranging of clumps that had to be re-brushed in tiny sections, & once you did it to one, it caused a chain reaction. Because I have bones lol, it's not something I could ever do on my own, because I wouldn't be able to reach or see. I've tried. She said this just happens sometimes
Hey sorry for my bad english, i`m from germany. Thank you so much for this video. I tried this yesterday and have amazing results.. I hate brush styling, have no good results with the brushes and this method is much better for me. I have wavy hair, a straight hairline and do the curly girl method nearly 3 years. Thank you for all your work. It`s amzing 😍😘
I didn't know my hair was wavy. My mom has straight hair, so I thought I did too. Come to find out my dad had wavy hair in the 1970's when his hair was long. I have never seen him with anything other than short hair and it looks straight. I love your videos and have been enjoying my wavy hair journey. Thanks for your info. It really helps. The hardest thing I find is just being patient as I learn what my hair want to look its best.
Super helpful!! Seeing the actual swing makes sense. I think I did some of this before (moving hair side to side), but doing the back swing should definitely help. I'll have to let you know when I do it! 😁
Thanks Courtney for show use your method. I feel inspired to go and have a washday now😂. It might help me to feel back to normal again after having to isolate due to covid (I have a house where three of the five of us have come down with it for the first time and we're all needing washdays😂)
Trying this tomorrow! I feel like it incorporates all the things I have tried and that worked for me so far - very similar to bowl method with amounts of water and the pulling hair away from scalp method, and I like the brushes for distributing product and reducing frizz, but have discovered that my curl ‘clumps’ are fairly small no matter what, and that’s ok cause that’s just my hair and they still look good. My main focus every washday is reducing frizz! Thx!
This is fun to watch! I’m REAL new(like 8 months) to learning my hair is wavy curly after 30+ years of thinking I had BOARD STRAIGHT hair. But also….my hair is(layered and healthy…but also…) almost waste length. And the whipping gives me legit fear of my hair tangling because of my length. Is that irrational?
My curls are tailbone length now. The fear of tangling is real! I have to style upside down because I can't reach the full length when upright. I don't "swing & fling" like Courtney does in this video because my long hair gets caught on itself and tangles something fierce. Instead, I dip my head further down and gently toss my curls to the opposite side and sometimes have to help them over with my hands, if that makes sense. Might want to try that out?
I tend to do better reading to understand than listening to someone present. Does this seem correct? 1) Rake leave-in conditioner through your hair. With your head tilted forward and brush head towards your face, brush your hair off your scalp and the sides of your face. You are trying to 1) start organizing your curl clumps 2) pull your hair away from your face and scalp and 3) provide multiple options for where your hair might part when your head is upright. If you feel like the hair at you crown is "glommed on" to your scalp, finger comb this hair to lift it away from the scalp. 2) Add water to your hair and gently pulse the hair. You are NOT trying to squeeze water out of your hair. Rather, this step will help distribute product and encourage curl clumps to form. 3) Leaning backwards (with you hair trailing down your back) swing your head around the side to tip your head upside down. As your head comes to the bottom of this arc, continue the motion by looking towards the direction you tilted at the beginning of the movement (if you swung your upper body with the movement starting towards the left, turn your head towards your left; if you started the motion by tilting to the right, turn your head to the right). Alternate sides several times. This swinging motion is the "Swing Curl Clump" (SCC). 4) Add curl souffle/gel/hold product of your choice by glazing it over your hair and roping it in. AVOID RAKING THE PRODUCT IN AT THIS POINT, as it will break up curl clumps. Then repeat the SCC motion multiple times, remembering to alternate sides. If you choose, you can repeat this process with a second (or even third) hold product. If you are struggling to get curl clumps to form, add more water. The addition of water is more likely to help curl clumps form than will adding addition product. 5) Plop/micro plop your hair as per your normal routine, then diffuse when a sufficient amount of water has been absorbed from your hair.
Just wanted to congratulate you on giving your technique a name & thank you for showing us how it's done. I think it's great. The standing up part, it's great to give the back a break. I've done it twice & I think the 2nd time came out really good. I just figured out that I needed a little more than a tsp of gel for my high porosity hair, so I had to do some smasters. The 1st attempt, I realized that, I had too much custard & not enough water. So, it is knowing how much my hair needs. I've also started pre-pooing using oil, like you suggested in your latest video, which I think helps, too.
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Oh, the most exciting thing is, my baby hairs on the top front of my head, which is white, & is about 2 inches long now, is already showing it's wave pattern! I'm 56 years young & am finally enjoying the hair God has given me for the 1st time. I can't remember how long it's been since I had let my hair grow to this length, which is almost down to the middle of my back. TY, TY, TY! Courtney! You are a Godsend! May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you & your family.
I would love to try your method! Only problem is, I have a big cowlick down the right crown and back of my head, so I have to do right side up styling! Wonder if I could make this work 🤔 .
This is great!❤️ I've been doing a much gentler version of this (the swing motion would be a bit too much for my particular combo of medical ailments) for a while now, and it's worked great for me! Mostly, I 've just realized how important it is for me, personally, to move my head around as much as I can while I'm scrunching in stylers.
I don't know if my back can handle all that, but I will try a modified version. It would have been a perfect video if you got your cousin to do the voice over.🤣
Just washed my hair and tried the SCC method :) It's in the plop right now but my first impression is that is minimized my wet frizz and webbing :) Hope for the best with diffusing later :)
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney 2 months later and I can honestly say I absolutely LOVE this method!!!! I wasn't surprised though because every time you talk about how your hair is this or that, I'm thinking "OMG so is mine!!" I'm now getting actual curls to form and with some product tweaks (some things just weighed down my hair) I have super soft waves and curls. Thank you!!!
I’ve been using your techniques and still having issues with going from upside down to right side up because the clumps in the back/underneath would be all messed up. This explanation helped and I’m going to try it!
Question for anyone else who's had severe damage due to years of arthritis: how do you squish to condish and scrunch product into your hair? My hands look like a gnarled witch's (I say that with complete love for my hands), with fingers fused in a way that makes it impossible for me to make a real fist. I've found the only way I can begin to squish or scrunch is to use one hand over the top of the other to try to get extra force. Works to some extent. But using both hands this way, and due to shoulder limitations, I can't really get the sides of my head, so everything gets clumped in front. Will see if I can do a bit of swinging, but my real issue is trying to get more effective and evenly spaced squishing and scrunching. Thanks!!
Hello Courtney I'm back watching your videos this makes a lot of sense! I actually have a pixie right now but when I grow it out I'll def try this. Looking good😊.
I am glad it made sense! Love that you have a pixie! I have seen a few gals with short/shorter hair do this, and it worked for them! Let me know how it goes!
Hi Courtney! I’d love to see you review the Andrew Fitzsimmons products that just launched at ulta! He’s a celebrity hair stylist and has a whole curly line now
I just found this particular video, and I love this method! My only question is, do you plop or microplop After all the swinging and twirling? :) Or just go straight to letting it air dry or defusing? Thanks!!!
I appreciate the additional editing to show the whole swing process. 😊
Wish I could add my picture. My hair is now sooo curly because of this. Thanks again
Happy to help!

That "colon" should've been ":"--voice dictating!
Same in the transition and I would be so lost without her videos
One extra point: make sure not to hit your head while swinging around! Your methods have helped me create my own hair day routine, so don’t feel embarrassed ‘cause you’re fabulous!
🤣🤣🤣Yes! To your extra point! It is not something I advise doing.
Thanks Lindsey! 🥰🥰🥰 I would love to know how it goes for you!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney you have very pretty curly wavy hair.
I love how you demonstrated your method super clearly. The proof is in the pudding, it clearly works. It won’t be the method for me, not just cause of the medical stuff, but because I don’t have the patience to scrunch like that! :)
Awe, thank you! I get where you are coming from! Even a little bit of scrunching can go a long way!
Awe thank you! I love this sooo much!
Oh...MAN, me too! Two cervical surgeries so far. Really sucks!
This, along with a chelating shampoo and your tip of holding your blow dryer in one spot for 60 secs, has been incredibly helpful! Thank you!
It worked wondeeeeerssss in my hair ❤️ Sending you so much love from Peru 🇵🇪
Also… thank you and your husband for all your hard work to get the right angles. 😊 y’all did an amazing job!
Oh Courtney, you're my girl!
We love you thank you for all your effort and to your husband too. Teamwork makes the dream work.
It truly does! Thank you so much!!
Yess loving you going more into the SCC method! I have been doing this for years (not as violently swinging lol) after seeing how you style on soaking wet hair in all your videos the past few years
Awe yay!
Yay! This is the first method that has worked for me without it being weird in the back AND it gave me curl clumps way more easily than usual. Thank you!!
Awe thank you! So glad to hear this! Glad it is working for your too!
(The main difference between my hair and yours is that strangely, my hair goes stringy whenever I use anything with even a little bit of protein.
Awe, thank you! This means a lot! And welcome!
I love the swinging the head around. I just tried this, currently have my hair in a plop after doing the whole swing thing. I have been trying to have nice wavy curls for some time, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I think this will work well.
Tried this 3 times now.....works a dream every time! Thank you beautiful lady xx
Yay!!! Thanks for the update! Love this!
(My husband also go me a shark diffuser for Mothers day so that helped too!)
Thank you for doing this video and naming your technique, it's going to help so many people!
I wish I had seen this this morning!!! It is wash day and I'm satisfied with the turn out... buttttt.. this is intriguing!
Aww! There is always next wash day!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney yass I will be trying this out!
Let me know how it goes!!!
THANK YOU!! 😆
Yay!!! Love it! Thank you for letting me know!
I really like this method. Covid struck and my hair fell out as a result. It's so short now that swinging just doesn't happen. I love how your curls do come together as you style. Maybe one day my length will be long enough to try your method.
Oh no! That is terrible, I am so sorry! 😔 Give it some time. I would say just focus on keeping it healthy.
Best method ever! It makes a difference, my wash day lasts days and my curls look amazing
Yay! This makes me so happy! Glad it worked. Thanks for sharing!
I really appreciate that you took the time to show your scc method. Thank you to your kind husband 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Can i just say THANK YOU!!! Just done your technique with a minor variation and oh my!!! Its the best my hair has looked
Mine is too short - but love watching you :)
I'm so glad!
Thanks for sharing it! But this makes me so happy! I love that you got those results!
I would love to see how you do it in a more confined space. I feel like my hair won't twirl like yours does because I hit the walls and door of my shower. Or maybe a video of you critiquing and helping someone who is doing it wrong, do it right. I definitely feel like I'm doing it wrong. 😅
You are awesome.
Awe I love this so much! More water could definitely be the keen!
Congratulations on naming your method🥳 I'll have to try swinging my hair and see how it goes😃 Outtakes lolol😅
Thank you! Looking forward to trying this! I’m 8 months in and love my progress. You help me a lot!
OMG Courtney I have never been able to get good results with upside down styling, until today! My hair is much like yours but not fine and I am more on the wavy side. First time in a year since starting this journey and I got the best waves! Thank you so much for sharing your method!!!💖
🙌❤️🎉🎊🌟
Oh my! You've come a long way baby 😅
Lovin' this method of yours. I'll have to give it a try
lol It's been a journey for sure! Thank you! Have fun with it!
I shall have to give this a go next wash day.... my hair is much longer (down to my hips), so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
Thanks for a full video of your technique! I know why it's swing but I keep wanting to say swirl since it rhymes with curl! Thanks for all your helpful videos!
😍😍😍 Swirl could work! There is some "swirling" involved. And thank you!
Thank you sweetie. My hair looks great a year+ later thanks to you and your adorable videos. So glad I came upon you during Covid!
How did it turn out?
@@mirroravis it turned out awesome! I ended up having to go to bed without diffusing and it being slightly damp, but in the morning it looked amazing!!! Very defined and minimal frizz!!! I am so impressed!!!!
Hair came out awesome even without diffusing!!! I am so impressed!!! Thank you so, so much Courtney!! My hair hasn't been this defined in forever!!! The fact that it turns out like this without diffusing is incredible!!! Even though my bathroom space is limited, I still managed to do some swinging around....thank you again for this method!!
Wow! I'm truly impressed with the filming! And you and your husband seem a very cute couple!
Love this! Can't wait to try it! My shower is very small though. Could you please show how you make this method work in a more narrow space sometime?
I absolutely love watching you! Thank you for all of your teaching and looking forward to doing my hair. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! Let me know how it goes!
Please post more about humidity and how we can make it work for us!]
Much to say here but I'd love to see so much more.
Mom used to slowly brush my hair, look at me in the eye from behind me in the mirror, and dramatically drop her voice and say "people would kill for your hair," when I tell you I slept with one eye open and it was my lazy eye for a matter of months because little does she know we were learning about native Americans and scalping in school and I was convinced a someone was going to climb up into my bedroom and take my hair!😅
I digress :-) I love your vibe I love your energy and I hope to see more.
I've tried. She said this just happens sometimes
i love it!! this is so similar to what i've been doing, but i'm gunna add your formal swinging method next wash!
You look so pretty upside down! I’m 50 so when I turn upside down my skin goes the way of gravity LOL
Awe, thank you! I am glad it worked for you! I am not a fan of "normal" brush styling either.
So happy you found the perfect method & coined it SCC! So perfect! And yay your curls & waves look AWESOME 😊
Yes, patience is tough. It's a journey!
Super helpful!! Seeing the actual swing makes sense. I think I did some of this before (moving hair side to side), but doing the back swing should definitely help. I'll have to let you know when I do it! 😁
Omgosh. It’s works. Best clumps ever
Thx!
Yay! It has a name!
Makes total sense, I'm going to give it a try, thank you!!!
I tried it today and I approved it :) It's fun and quick for a good result :D
I’ve been following your method with swinging my head from side to side but not the entire swing/twirl! Trying this on my next wash day! Can’t wait!!!
Can't wait till wash day to try this!!!
*Watches this video* Ten minutes later: *in the shower trying it out* 😅😂
Just wanted to congratulate you on giving your technique a name & thank you for showing us how it's done.
Love it!!! Glad it is working for you! And yes, it is trial and error! Sometimes it just making minor adjustments!
Eager to try this! Thanks for such a great video explaining it.
Thank you so much for this very detailed and full video! I can't wait to try this:)
Thank you so much! Let me know how it goes!
This was so helpful! I tried it this morning, and I LOVE it! Thank you so much!!
Yay! Love it! Glad it worked for you! Thank you!
Yay yay yay!!!! So happy you finally gave it a name! Thank you so much, you rock!! #SCC
This is great!❤️
I've been doing a much gentler version of this (the swing motion would be a bit too much for my particular combo of medical ailments) for a while now, and it's worked great for me! Mostly, I 've just realized how important it is for me, personally, to move my head around as much as I can while I'm scrunching in stylers.
I don't know if my back can handle all that, but I will try a modified version. It would have been a perfect video if you got your cousin to do the voice over.🤣
Hope you’re all doing well 🥰🥰🥰 you look amazing!
Thank you so much! We are!
I love this method! I've been doing this since I first say you do it. Thank you so much!
Awe, thank you so much! I am glad it works for you!
Just washed my hair and tried the SCC method :) It's in the plop right now but my first impression is that is minimized my wet frizz and webbing :) Hope for the best with diffusing later :)
Ooo will definitely try this method sounds like it would work out on my hair type👍☺️
I love this!!!! I can't wait to try it next wash day. Thanks so much for the detailed video.
Thank you so much! Let me know how it goes!
I am going to try the swinging. I have some neck issues, so I'll have to swing gingerly 😊
Ohh yes, please be careful! We don't want any neck issues!
Thanks!!!
