Hey guys I bought the Swavy Product Guide from Courtney about ten months ago and I highly recommend it ~ I am a hispanic guy with wavy/curly SUPER coarse hair and I always had to have it short because my thick coarse hair would be super puffy if I left it longer than 3 inches on top. I thought I’d give Courtney’s guide a shot and through the guide I learned what products to buy and apply to really weigh down and moisturize my hair. Ten months later I can now let my hair grow out and not have my head look like a big puff. My hair usually was wavy/straight before, but now because I’ve learned what to apply and I can now let my hair grow longer, my hair is now curlier than ever! Buying the products at first was a bit of an investment because I wanted to start from scratch, but a lot of them really last especially with male hairstyles. Thanks Courtney!!
Wow. I watched this video. I ordered the v&co. wavy shampoo and conditioner and the stricty curls mousse on instacart. I took the time to watch the swing and brush several times while waiting, and then followed your instructions carefully. I used a t shirt instead of my towel. I waited an hour. I applied mousse gently. I hover dried with a diffuser. My hair has never looked this good in my whole life and I'm 36. Soft curls. No flat spots. Shiny. Not stringy or frizzy. Kind of embarrassing honestly. Also a bonus is that i smell amazing. Thank you. You are doing the Lord's work.
Thank you so much for including affordable products. I’m disabled so I’m on a very fixed income. Plus, I can’t do the 14 step wash days so this video was just perfect for me.
I have pretty severe fibromyalgia and I think this may be perfect. I also can’t do an hour long routine at one time. I have to stop and take a break, but I hate having messy hair all the time. Thank you!!
So sorry! I get it! I have a number of chronic pain conditions and RA, so I found to sit on a stool in the shower with the detachable shower head helps so much to wash my hair. Otherwise I just can’t do it. It’s a little easier than leaning over a bath, hope that helps you as well x
I’ve been watching your videos for years AND I GOTTA SAY I THOUGHT YOUR HAIR AND CURLS LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER WITH THIS EASY ROUTINE THAN USING A THOUSAND PRODUCTS VIDEO.
I am a teacher who has very, very little time to deal with her curls on weekdays! This routine has been a life saver!!!! It last for days too. I used the Aussie mousse which has been a new product! Love love love this routine!!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!! Literally sitting here crying while watching. Despite getting to shower and style today while my oldest was with my mom, baby woke up right before shower. It was stressful having to go as fast as possible and run back and forth while styling to make sure it was happy gurgles and not I'm about to scream cuz you aren't here. Using the plop to pause will be so helpful and having a quick one-styler option that can give strong hold will be wonderful. It took me a year after my first to really take care of my hair. Now, I know I can't wait that long again because I feel so much better wearing my curls. Thank you again. I really needed this today. 💕
Thank you for your easy to understand routine. One thing I am especially grateful for is that you talked about the scent of the products. I can't stand high fragranced product and spend lots of money and end up giving them away. It was very important to me to hear your fragrant description. I will be purchasing some from your list so you get credit thank you again and I will surely come back with a review. Nice job Courtney!
I’ve had really good wash days lately with this routine in the shower - shampoo, add conditioner and wet brush with head upside down to organize clumps then using the ‘squish to condish’ method. I use just enough so I don’t need to rinse out. Then I add Ouidad Mousse using the same squish method and plop into a hair towel. I finish my shower, get dressed and then diffuse. I’ve got it down to 20-30 minutes after the shower. Fine hair, medium density, 2B-3A curls.
Love watching this. It’s so close to what I have finally pared down to. My hair has better waves/curls that do better with simple rather than complex. Only took a few years for me to trust myself more than the internet influencers. Loved your video, great results!
I spent 3 years trying different sulfate free products and living with an itchy scalp, many very expensive. I finally started trying drugstore products and my scalp immediately stopped itching. I finally found Pantene moisture shampoo and conditioner is what my hair and curls like and also my nose. It doesn’t have strong perfume smell. I will try one of the mousse products you mentioned.
So I used this routine yesterday for a party and it was epic. My hair looked amazing. Today I watched the 5 ways to refresh video and used the shower steam in the morning, and leave in spray conditioner this eve. My hair has NEVER lasted when styled- so nothing to lose by trying this. It’s epic. Thank you.
Your hair turned out great! I very often do something like you did. I never plop for any length of time but I do plop right out of the shower for about 5 minutes or so while I slather on my body moisturizer and do my face skin care, then I apply my heat protection and a gel, brush everything through moving away from my scalp and then scrunch and diffuse. I’m usually done from start to finish within a half hour.
Thank you for this routine. I workout daily, & sweat a lot, which makes daily showering, & hair washing, necessary. Many days I don’t have time for the full routine.
omg finally i see someone who used mousse on damp hair! my waves don’t get a good gel cast when i put gel or mousse on soaking wet hair, or maybe they’re just not strong enough on wet hair. but they work so good on my damp hair after plopping.
Thank you for this great video! My curls came out the best they have in a long time without all the fuss. I used Tresemme Flawless curls mousse with level 4 hold. Great price point and worked perfectly!
I’m getting so fed up of having to do all this for my wavy hair including waiting for the gel to cast before I can go out and get on with my day that I’m thinking of just going back to my old routine of blow drying and straightening
That's my feeling on most days. I don't have time to spend all day on my hair. Most wash days I'll just wash and condition, apply a leave-in conditioner and heat protection, flip my head over and do a rough blow dry. I'm even too lazy to straighten it. 😂 I might try this particular wavy hair styling routine, though.
I take lots of breaks... If I'm not feeling it I just brush straight and let dry. I do this especially during the summer when it's too hot to wear my hair down anyway, lol.
This made my nb. 1 hairday! And the 4 months in miracle! Finally a happy curly day with those fat, juicy, shiny clumps and coils. Thx - Love your tutorials
I tried out the prayer hands ‘scrunch out the crunch’ method and really love it! It does give me a bit more frizz but it gets the crunch out much more evenly.
Courtney this is awesome! I have really not been styling my hair wavy because I am too tired from being so physically active. Definitely going to do your technique. Also thanks for showing how you plop and prior to adding product! Sooooooo so awesome!
I love using just mousse or foam on a wash day because my hair dries much quicker (I usually air dry my hair). Thank you for the recommendations, I will definitely try some of them out....
This is perfect for this homeschooling homestead mama who is tired of twisted buns and claw clips and wants to look nice. Can you do a video of gentle safe protective styles for when you just want a break from all the maintenance but don't want to undo all the work you've done in recovering your curl pattern and growing out previous damage?
Hahaha I love how you named your method!! ✨👏✨🧜♀️✨🥰 I have been doing your swing curl method since I was a teenager…People don’t believe me when I explain that that’s how I let my hair naturally curl…They think I go to hair salon. I never go to hair salon. I do everything for my hair at home!
We just had a two-week period where our brand new upstairs air conditioning unit was out of commission (bad control board, took over a week for a new part to arrive). It was 82 degrees+ upstairs in our house, and we don't have any full bathrooms downstairs, where the AC worked. Every time I took a (cold) shower, I was still sweating like crazy by the time I finished getting ready for the day. Anyway, I had purchased the Marc Anthony mousse a few months ago after watching one of your videos but never got around to trying it, and it became my go-to product for a quick routine because I did not want to diffuse or really spend any more time upstairs than I had to! It's such a great product and smells nice and fresh without being overwhelming. It's not awesome at preventing halo frizz, but it was better than using a cream and a gel that would have taken all day to dry without diffusing. I also got lots of root lift, so there's that :) Even though our AC is now working again, I still used this mousse today because we had a time crunch this morning. Thank you for the recommendation several months ago and for this video to help us wavy curlies when we need something that works with air drying (or quickly with a diffuser)!
I have been using this routine for the past couple of weeks. I just add a leave in when I organize my waves. It has been working beautifully. Thank you for continuing to create content for us wavies. I love ‘ what if ‘ questions and I have one for you. What if all those people you can easily help find you?
Thank you, I will do most of your routine, I say most of it because my hair is fine and I've been having a fallout, yes my hair has been falling out, but I'll try doing part of your routine. Thank you
Hair is funny. Your hair is much more wavy when you style it than mine, but mine is more wavy than yours when I air dry it. Love this video, even if I do not use this method. I usually use your "If I had to start all over" method or just air dry, because it's hot and humid here and I cannot tolerate the air dryer. Cannot wait for it get colder again.
Started my curly hair journey in June- this is this best my hair has turned out yet! AND actually feels doable on a normal day 🎉🎉Used the V Co wavy shampoo and conditioner + the yellow strictly curls mouse. Also appreciate that these have old scents! Thank you!!
You have helped me through this journey so much. You know you are getting things right when random people in public just come up to you and say love your hair or love your curls! I agree with you 100% , high end and the affordable drug store products work well too! I have used both and can get the same results!
Thank you for this! I'm so close to giving up on my wavy hair (moved to Canada from the Philippines, and the weather and hard water and other things really shocked my hair, and it looks awful right now). Plus being a mom of 2, I have almost no time to do the full routine, and can't really afford to rotate many products. I appreciate the affordable products you show and this fast and easy routine.
I love it! asap (as simple as possible) or kiss (keep it simple sis) 😆 I'm still trying to figure out what will work for me, while trying to keep it quick and simple. I did use a leave-in, mousse, micro plopped and then added some hairspray for extra hold, knowing the mousse I used was a light hold. Next time I'll try it on damp hair. Thanks!
Thank you for this! Somehow this short and quick hack worked better for my hair than anything else I've tried. Although I must admit that diffusing my hair took me way more than 10 minutes. 😁 But I'll take it. My hair looks gooood!
Awesome video! I happened to be planning to wash and plop my hair when I saw this, so I took it a step further and added the mousse after an hour and diffused. It worked like a charm on my 2a coarse hair, and it’s still very wavy on day 2. I think this is my new fall routine as I’ve also been on summer break. 😂
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous today. Truly it always looks really good but today I was assuming from the way you described it that it wouldn't look as good and it looks amazing! I'd love to see what it looks like tomorrow and the day after.
This routine is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. My hair is pretty similar to yours in that it takes forever to dry, rarely gets a cast, and day two is often hit or miss. This shampoo, condition, plop, foam, diffuse has worked UNBELIEVABLY well for my hair. First time I tried it I used the Curl Talk refresh foam, which didn't work for me as a refresh, but actually gave me great soft waves and curls that lasted through day two! Thank you! Today I tried Maui Moisture coconut milk curl foam mousse and it gave a strong cast! You may want to give it a try 😊
Your hair looks great! I would have to put a leave in in my hair. It is dry. And when I have it brushed out straight, I look like Rosanne Roseanna Danna. If you are too young to remember. Gilda Radner did that character on Saturday night live. Leave in is a must for me. Great idea, though!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney I tried it and the shower refresh and it’s a game changer. I never got much longevity anyway with any style so this is just perfect for me.
I’m realizing how fuss free I am with mine . I wash , conditioner . I use one product usually an air dry cream . Spray it with water to scrunch . Let it dry or diffuse .
I asked a friend, who has amazing curly hair, what her routine was….she shampoos, conditions and leaves it to air dry….and that’s it!! 😂 I think we do overcomplicate things.
have you tried Rihannas fenty products? They smell lovely and I would recommend skipping the conditioner and just getting the deep conditioner. Also another line idea for one brand wash day is Maui Moisture. They have a wide selection of products and some of them are quite gentle
I do remove some of the excess water from my hair right before brush styling which helps. I don’t notice any water splashed all over the both room when I am done. So if there is some, I am guessing it is minimal.
I wish I liled the Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk foam because people rave about it, but it makes my hair feel like I doused it in a rubberized texture spray. I absolutely hate the way my hair feels when I use it.
My absolute favorite! ❤ I often wondered if it is possible to shower, shampoo and style before work. Most methods have so many steps That I found I need to do them the night before. My hair never looks as good the next morning, even with the pineapple and the silk case. This quick routine is morning doable! Thank you!
Hi Courtney! Have been looking for a short method with few products, I am so freakin excited! What is the porosity of your hair please? Mine is low. Yours seems like it could be low too, but I keep reading that you shouldn't put a lot of protein (peptides) on low porosity hair, but it looks good on you.
I literally have one question for a designer that is looking for a more privacy and functionality in her house - what was a reason to make your bedroom literally in corridor exposing the most private place to your guests in the dining area and almost right in front of the entrance? Wasn’t that reasonable enough to exchange bedroom and living room by simply mirroring them? You’d have more privacy, daily light and view in your bedroom corner while having combining living room - dining area space?
I think root clips are fantastic! I really love the bounce curl clips and the curl keeper root clips personally. But as a general rule, I am too lazy and forgetful to remember to use them on. Especially when I’m trying to keep the routine super fast. 😅🙈🤷🏼♀️
I wash my hair every day, so I love a _quick and dirty_ routine! 🤓 Your hair looks amazing with just the mousse as your styler! 👏🏻 Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻
Courtney, why didn't you use a leave-in conditioner? Just to save time or would it mess something up? I have been finding my hair is unmanageable without a leave-in first. Too much wet frizz and curl clumps don't clump. Could I do this same routine with a leave-in before the plop ? What about a curl cream or custard
After watching this one and seeing how little your dryer moves your hair, I need a new blow dryer and diffuser. I think I got a lemon from Lange probably about 4-5 years ago. Bought their diffuser that was supposed to work on my dryer but it doesn't! Lots of frustration when (trying to) dry my hair wavy. Please give me some recommendations and links for dryers and diffusers at different price point. Thanks!
This will sound silly. But I am new to wavy/curly hair. I have spent my entire childhood and amlarge part of adulthood treating my hair as if it was straight. Just recently I realised that my hair was curling up when wet. I wear plaits a lot and for some reason I assumed that was what it was. My hair had been in a bun when I washed it and the wave was at my temples and to the root, where my bun would have zero effect. So I bought some Aussie shampoo and conditioner and used a.moose I already had in and it's not perfect but any stretch. My hair is fine and definitely frizzes like it's going bout of fashion. But I achieved a good wave. I think I'm a type 2b/c. I just need to sort the frizzing and clumping. And getting a softer look too. But this girl is super pleased to discover she doesn't have straight hair 🤣
Oh my goodness I need to try this. I had some bad shampoo a few years back that caused major damage to my hair, and some of my hair to fall out, and the curl hasn't been quite the same. I noticed it's kind of stretchy in the shower, so maybe needs more protein? But first thing, I'm getting that TOWEL!!! Oh my gosh, I struggle so hard plopping, because none of them secure my hair, and when it falls, I give up lol.
I almost did exactly as you mentioned but I sprayed in conditioner in my hand and added some Silke protein and gently scrunched it in my hair. But the biggest thing that helped for me was seeing how you were doing s alller gallops of the hair mouse abd used praying hands. I also did a lot of hoovering diffusing and pixie diffusing. AND I VLAPPED THE CRUNCH OUT. This is the very very first time I actually got the wet look out of my hair. And its the best hair day since I'm been trying to follow the CGM. (Ishess). I wanted to show you but not sure how to post a pic in the comments post
My hair has always been a bit frizzy and unmanageable, so I usually just french braid it or keep it in a messy bun. Since getting a hysterectomy, it's become even more annoying to deal with. I'm ready to shave my head! I only recently learned I "may" have wavy hair. I'm not 100% sure though. All I know is, when it air dries it has some natural waves, mainly near my face. And when I scrunch it with my hands while it's damp and has no product in it, it looks curly. How can I know for sure, though? Should I try one of these routines?
Yes! I would! I also have quite a few beginner video's to check out. That is how my hair was. I did not know it was wavy/curly to start. Just had the odd kink or bend to it! This is a more recent video for if you are just beginning. ua-cam.com/video/roMjPCZ-lbY/v-deo.html
well now I realized that i can wear my hair straighter or straightened without heat. I didn't realize that until I watched you just brush through it wet and let air dry. I 've occasionally wanted to wear it straighter ( like it used to be) and this would be a way without heat damage Yay. I wear my hair wavy basically all the time but I always backed off of straightening it as I don't want to damage my waves.
I will have to try this ☺️ I'm use V&CO curl shampoo next I will try wavy one i got a compliment on my way and curly hair and asked if it was perm i said no it is all natural
Saw V&Co in Walmart. Intrigued. Passed by it. Something's been off w/my hair. Bought something with silicone (Why?! Why?! Why?!) thinking maybe my hair is ok w/silicone now 😅😅😅 Went back to Walmart. Picked up V&Co Wavy set, Being Major No Frizz Leave In (for moisture) & used my tried-and-true LA Looks blue gel (for protein). My hair is graying & after watching your recent Q&A Live I decided I need moisture AND protein. Awww my hair felt like me again this past wash day.
I truly enjoyed listening to you sharing your ideas as well as your follicular wisdom (pretty sure that's not a word though 😄is it?)... Plus you are authentically entertaining... You made me laugh out loud at the cute way you say and do some things! Thank you for the "healthy" sleeping styles, they work beautifully. I look forward to hearing more. Do you have any ideas for super curly hair? I have the kind of curls that aren't quite kinky but they are fairly tight curls... I can never find a way to get them looking good 100% naturally.. So I straighten and then put in pretty curls with the curling irons. It's so damaging and it's a problem now. Any advice would be appreciated! 😊
"...a unicorn horn because I'm a pretty pretty princess." Without cracking up at all.
You are so fun!

I dare say this routine turned out better than some of the 1 brand wash days that take much longer! 🤔🤔 Turned out great! ❤
it did look just as good
Thank you so much for including affordable products. I’m disabled so I’m on a very fixed income. Plus, I can’t do the 14 step wash days so this video was just perfect for me.
Same! This is so good for those who just can't afford the money and time to do the full-on-washday 😍
Same here! When you're on disability you just don't have the money to splurge on expensive items. ❤

Heyy, thank you so much! So many curly hair Influencers just show the 30 steps routines. I'm a student and don't have 1 to 2 Hours to style my curls.
I got great curl clumps and volume using this routine!
I honestly loved the way your hair turned out to be. It looked much better than your previous styling methods!

I have been using this routine for the past couple of weeks. I just add a leave in when I organize my waves. It has been working beautifully. Thank you for continuing to create content for us wavies.
I love ‘ what if ‘ questions and I have one for you. What if all those people you can easily help find you?
Looks gorgeous! 🥰
Thank you for the quick routine tutorial!
Also, I like your shirt. Love that song!
Thank you! And glad it was helpful!
Tried it yesterday. My hair never looked better! Thank you so much ❤
Love this!!! Glad it worked well for you too!
Thank you!!
Awe I love this! And that this was doable for you on a normal day. We need that!
The Innersense I create definition foam might be great for this routine! I’m all about fast wash days with mom life 🙃
Yes that would be another fantastic option!
Thanks!
Your curls looks amazing 😍
Thank you for this! Somehow this short and quick hack worked better for my hair than anything else I've tried. Although I must admit that diffusing my hair took me way more than 10 minutes. 😁 But I'll take it. My hair looks gooood!
Awesome video! I happened to be planning to wash and plop my hair when I saw this, so I took it a step further and added the mousse after an hour and diffused. It worked like a charm on my 2a coarse hair, and it’s still very wavy on day 2. I think this is my new fall routine as I’ve also been on summer break. 😂
Ima try this on my next wash.. Hope it'll help the back of my hair turn curly just like the curls on side of my hair
I will say, its a journey! It has been for me!
It looks sooo good
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous today. Truly it always looks really good but today I was assuming from the way you described it that it wouldn't look as good and it looks amazing! I'd love to see what it looks like tomorrow and the day after.
Awe thank you!
Glad this works for you too! Good to know about that mousse!
Omg this is going to make my life so much easier. Thank you.
I love hearing this! Yay!!!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney I tried it and the shower refresh and it’s a game changer. I never got much longevity anyway with any style so this is just perfect for me.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video ❤
Thank you!!!
Ohh to have your hair. So pretty!
This is so sweet! Thank you so much!
Your hair is gorgeous! I'm concerned with the whipping and whirling of the wet hair! Doesn't water get splashed all over your bathroom?
I do remove some of the excess water from my hair right before brush styling which helps. I don’t notice any water splashed all over the both room when I am done. So if there is some, I am guessing it is minimal.
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Thanks for the response! I'm going to give it whirl!
I wish I liled the Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk foam because people rave about it, but it makes my hair feel like I doused it in a rubberized texture spray. I absolutely hate the way my hair feels when I use it.
Beautiful!!
Thanks so much! 🥰
My scalp gets oily quickly, so I have to wash my hair very often. This routine is GREAT. Thank you
Looks amazing! Thank you ❤I am going to try it! When you do the last prayer hands! The results are amazing!
My absolute favorite! ❤ I often wondered if it is possible to shower, shampoo and style before work. Most methods have so many steps That I found I need to do them the night before. My hair never looks as good the next morning, even with the pineapple and the silk case. This quick routine is morning doable! Thank you!
Love your shirt!
I have long, low-porosity, 2b/2c hair. This worked great! Thank you!
I absolutely love your today!! Looks amazing! Thank you for this video. Now I know the very next products to buy.
Oh I absolutely want to try this, i don’t love plopping though because I’m low density and it sticks to my scalp but maybe can microplop more
Courtney, what is your opinion on the root clip method to get more lift at the roots?
I think root clips are fantastic! I really love the bounce curl clips and the curl keeper root clips personally. But as a general rule, I am too lazy and forgetful to remember to use them on. Especially when I’m trying to keep the routine super fast. 😅🙈🤷🏼♀️
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney love the lift I get when I use them. And my hair dries faster.
I wash my hair every day, so I love a _quick and dirty_ routine! 🤓 Your hair looks amazing with just the mousse as your styler! 👏🏻 Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻
Great results with this quick wash day. Your skin & makeup looks gorgeous by the way! A makeup video would be great ❤
Woah I haven't watched your vids in a good minute your hair texture has gotten curlier😍
Hi there! Can you share where you got your shirt please?
HI! There is a link for them in the description. 🤗
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney what’s it under?I don’t see it.
Thank you for the pleasant presentation. I have a question please, does your product list has products in it that are in the curly girl, CG method ?
Most of them are curly hair friendly (sulfate, silicone, and drying alcohol free) 🤗
I’m excited to try this!
Hope you like it too!
Thanks!
I really like this one by Laifen: bit.ly/4dKe22a
Or this one by Curlsmith: howl.me/cmTrkqTtlW2
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Thanks very much. I'll check em out. Thanks for your help and sweet spirit 🥰
I am just starting my curl journey and am wondering how often you need a wash day.
I have curly hair and I got a shag and had no clue how to style it and thank you for the help😅😅
Thank you. @@SwavyCurlyCourtney
well now I realized that i can wear my hair straighter or straightened without heat.
If I just put in a leave in and don't style my hair, I get that stretched out w/a little bit of wave look as well. I love the Marc Anthony mousse.
Great video!
I love that Marc Anthony product. On my second one!!
I love my perfect hair care towel too. And your product guide is wonderful
Thank you so so much!!!
Love this video. Thank you for sharing your hair tips with us and the products. I will definitely give this one a try 😊
Glad it was helpful!
