Too many haters that have never built a car in their life. Think about how much it cost to build one car ? Not think about a guy like Chad who builds as many as he does ! You would look for a way to save money too. Keep up the great content !
I agree with what you are saying. Alot of times bad Chad acts before he thinks. He's making a mountain out of a mole hill wit the blue protective plastic 😅
You'd have to join it just after the corner because where it's bent is under tension, cut it, or join it there and you'd never get the curve right....If that makes sense ?
@@buddylouis8348 Not completely, it has "memory", It's been made straight and will always try and return to straight, best to make the join just after a bend....
Every time I tune in to your channel the '50 looks even better. The white walls with red rims look great. I still think you need to buff the dirt out and make it show quality. You have done an excellent job on all.
Car looks great!! I saw a post the other day whereby someone said that Chad is not used to this level of detail and the forethought and patience that's required.
While I appreciate what Chad does. Doing things right the first time makes a better car. Taking shortcuts will always fail. If the car is driven left out in the sun the vinyl Chrome will shrink and bend. Stainless trim for that vehicle is fairly available and will look much better polished. Building cars does not have to be expensive, you just have to be patient and anything can be done right.
As long as the surface is properly CLEAN, that sh*t'll stick to anything. It's made almost exactly as all "chrome" we see on new cars... And that 3-M tape is the same thing that the major manufacturers use to stick on trim and emblems. I've found that if I wipe the surface of whatever I want to stick this stuff to with NAPHTHA and let it flash off, it gets just about as clean as it can.
That Cowles stuff is about the best I've found. I think they use 3M adhesive too. Obviously the wider the strip, the tougher it is to get a good bend without wrinkling. I used a roll of 3/4" tape to simulate the stainless surrounds on the front and rear Plexi canopies on a well-known mid-'60s TV car replica. In a couple spots the corners were so tight that I had to pie-cut the plastic, then hide the cuts with aluminum foil tape. It's not perfect, but without a source for the actual stainless, it looks pretty nice, and has lasted quite well, even in the 100-plus degrees (Fahrenheit) summer heat. Sometimes you gotta go for what's available to get the job done.
wrong. i put two strips of stick on molding on my 60 impala convertible quarter panels on both sides of the car where the white stripe is. they were on it over 15 years when i sold it and nobody noticed that it wasn't the factory stainless moldings. the car didn't have the holes for the factory trim because it had the quarter panels replaced before i bought it.
The chrome piece for the window would have to custom. Like my Mike Bello does BELLOS KUSTOMS CHECK HIM OUT. now that's kustom car building at its finest. 😮 oops did I spell that out loud. 😅
Spelled it ok but your first sentence doesn't make any sense. Mike Bello is great if you can afford to have him build you a car. Chad built this car for 10k. You want a finished car from Mike Bello you better sell your house and get a tent so you can pay him 150k. 😉✌

I love the plain truth how you don't attempt to hide the facts that even the pros can make mistakes. We learn threw experience I love the honesty of the show.Keep up the great work.
The little chrome strip you're actually looking for is part of the felt lined window run channel. Its available in all different sizes (also black) from a multitude of different companies. Same with the lower outer window fuzzie. Buy them both by the foot.
Sometimes things go tough but you do good and like you say if you don't like it do it again. It's looking great real life struggles. I like you show the issues most don't show it shows not every thing goes according to plan but can be dealt with
I used that trim before on my new car. The instruction indicate not recommended on a repainted car. after sticking for a while it will not come off WITHOUT taking some paint with it. That goes for tape accessories on repainted cars including side moldings.
It's okay as long as it's waxed and not in the extreme heat or extreme cold... Okay if the vehicle is garage-kept. Although I have seen a few Craftsmen MAKE stainless trim. But "bang for the buck", the stick on stuff is alright.
I would've tried a bit on a dry run on the smallest radius first, just to confirm it would do what I wanted it to do. It creates interest in that area and breaks up the colour so a good call.
It's made for cars. You're acting like the automotive industry doesn't use peel and stick chrome. There's even some on my car in the driveway from factory.
Works well when applied correctly. Wear a cotton glove. Lightly Heat the the piece that's turning a corner. Lightly test apply it, with the red backing on. Remove red backing. Apply while twisting to maintain a flatness while curving.
Well Done Chad Excellent Quality Question What do you intend to do with the Trunk lock, electric release, power jack etc ? From a side profile car sits very nicely typical '50's California style My hats off to you keep going!!!
Chad said he was not going to rush it this time, then he rushed it and put it on beofre he peeled the blue tape off, and now it is a nightmare to get all the blue tape off the chrome strip. The simple solution would have been to peel all the blue tape off before you put it on. Note to Chad, a toothpick might get that blue tape out of there after you cut on it with the razor blade.
You are a very blessed couple. You get to build cars that YOU like full time, for your collection, to make you happy, and make a living! Much admiration and respect for you and Jolene. Please keep it up and take us along!

The chrome should meet in the lower corner of the vent window , it wont be noticed as much there.

3M do a primer that you apply to the surface before sticking tape. It makes adhesion much stronger and long lasting, especially as it will be exposed to the elements.

I like you show the issues most don't show it shows not every thing goes according to plan but can be dealt with
Would'nt a heat gun work on the curves??? also cut the beginning and the end on a 45 degree angle. It's a lot easier to match up.
30 degree angle is better. Less surface.
Chrome looks great, nice detail 👍🇦🇺
I was never a big fan of the flexible chrome but chad makes it work ! Thumbs-up guys team Hiltz putting the bells on next thing is rhe whistles!
Looks awesome!!! Glad Dougels and Nathan are back!!! Love watching every day!!! Awesome 😎
I used that trim before on my new car. The instruction indicate not recommended on a repainted car. after sticking for a while it will not come off WITHOUT taking some paint with it. That goes for tape accessories on repainted cars including side moldings.
that plastic chrome isn't worth fooling with in my opinion
I agree 👍
Don’t leave it in the elements with plastic windows and plastic mouldings
It's okay as long as it's waxed and not in the extreme heat or extreme cold... Okay if the vehicle is garage-kept.
Although I have seen a few Craftsmen MAKE stainless trim.
But "bang for the buck", the stick on stuff is alright.
😂
Nice finishing touch. I like it.
Great video thank you.
I dont love the trim being adhesive but cool quick way to get it done and looks slick 💯
I would've tried a bit on a dry run on the smallest radius first, just to confirm it would do what I wanted it to do. It creates interest in that area and breaks up the colour so a good call.
not a big fan of cheap stick-on-chrome big step backwards
It's made for cars. You're acting like the automotive industry doesn't use peel and stick chrome. There's even some on my car in the driveway from factory.
😂 isn’t everything peel and stick now days
Works well when applied correctly.
Wear a cotton glove.
Lightly Heat the the piece that's turning a corner. Lightly test apply it, with the red backing on. Remove red backing. Apply while twisting to maintain a flatness while curving.
you may settle for cheap, not on my ride.@@Joseph-ew6ou
cheap fix@@mateshaljc
i love that model ford and you obviously do to, you did a beautiful job on it 🤣
Curb feelers next?
Lol
And a big lighted swan hood ornament from JC Whitney. 😂
Fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror.
Chad you have done an excellent job on that car buddy well done❤❤❤
Back of a match can be the best touch up brush in the world sometimes Jolene if when you and bad Chad are at the supermarket get a box of matchbooks💥💥
Well Done Chad Excellent Quality Question What do you intend to do with the Trunk lock, electric release, power jack etc ? From a side profile car sits very nicely typical '50's California style My hats off to you keep going!!!
You should use an hairblower to remove the bleu tape
You had me a little nervous there for a while; it turned out pretty nice. Looks good.
So....this paint job is right from the sprayer? No sanding, buffing, compound?
Now install 2 custom vintage chrome clamp on rear view mirrors to the door frames an be done with the exterior of the car.
You could put that paint color in your info, that is sweet!
Can also use he paper side of a match for paint touch up...
Nice lookin' car. It just shout air bags... No matter if used plastic chrome trims. Those Make the look anyway...
May the rear glass chrome woulda been ok with the end seams at the bottom back edge of rear window !
Heat gun to make more flexable and stick better
