This is a re upload vid from my old channel. I made some metal sins mistakes and the comment section ripped me apart 😂. Go easy on me! I was so excited!
Dave, don't worry about pausing the videos. Seriously, omg. We are here to watch YOU. If we want to watch the uninterrupted video, we can do that on our own. You do YOU. Love your reactions.
What's crazy to me is, James Hetfield, sings these songs while playing those riffs. I could never separate my playing from my voice. Just couldn't get it down.
Dude, watching your reaction to the change of the song in the doble drum part, it brought memories to when I first listened to this master piece. So much hype and its a feeling one cant just explain with words
13:02 "Hold my pick." What makes this even funnier is that this solo is one of the most popular tapping solos in the history of rock music. Tapping can be done with a pick too, but it's mostly using just fingers.
I'm sure you've looked it up by now, but, in case you were still wondering, here's what the Metallica fan wiki says about the time signatures: "The song is in different time signatures. It begins in 4/4, then shifts to 3/4 (both with an occasional measure in 2/4). After the verses and choruses, it shifts to 6/4. The heavy doublebass part is again in 4/4, soon switching to 2/2 (Double-Time) up to the end."
This is the song that got me into Metallica back when I was in middle school. I saw the video on MTV and just loved the song. I told my friends at school about it and they gave me crap saying it was the lightest song on the whole album. I went out and bought the "And Justice for all" CD. And to this day that is still my favorite Metallica album ( followed by Master of puppets ) .
Glad to see you found an old video, I’ve been following you from the beginning and I love your enjoyment of the music and the breakdowns or analysis, it’s very refreshing.
About the names: James Hetfield - vocalist, rhythm guitarist Lars Ulrich - drummer Kirk Hammett on the lead guitar and the basist for this album is Jason Newstead.
Johnny Got His Gun is what the song is based on. It's a movie from the 70s that follows the life of a fictional character who suffered a lifechanging accident in the trenches of WWI. The movie touches on the juxtaposition of sending people to die, then keeping them alive when there's nothing left to live for. The best lines of the movie *so ironic, cynical, DIRTY* is sampled in this video, where the general tells the doctor, "He is a product of YOUR profession, not MINE." Both the movie and James Hetfield are vehemently anti-war.
I'm surprised nobody's pointed out that you got quite an important part of that backwards. The man asking "Don't you have some message for him?" is the general, the man who responds is a military chaplain. The full scene is on youtube and it shows just how savage yet apt that response actually is. The Padre is more or less saying "You made him this way, you try comforting him" in contempt because he feels the blame for the soldier's fate rests on the military, and the general is trying to pass the buck instead of making the hard call on euthanising a man who's asking for it.
I get your reaction. The first time you hear it, it sounds so cool you forget how heavy the story is. I hear it now and it makes angry at war and sad for everyone who suffers because of it. But man I still remember hearing that section in the middle and having to show my brother this insanely cool sound these guys came up with.
this is the video that made me realize your channel was gone! I was in the mood to rewatch this reaction vid of yours yesterday cause it's the one that got me hooked on your channel, I was looking all over for it! glad you're back!
That was, by far, the most depressing watch of my life. I rented it from the video store (yeah I’m old, get off my lawn!) when the music video came out. I watched it in my room and it was a very depressing 3 hours. Considering how it ends, once it was over, I was so depressed and so melancholy that I just rolled over and went to sleep. I sincerely didn’t even want to move.
That was killing me too.. lol I'm like yea the soldier completely missed the LAND MINES and tripped over a land line and is now missing 75% of his body. :P
Definitely in their top 5 or 10 songs for sure. You gotta find someone with a system in their car.. Cuz when the double bass kicks in with a set 15" subs in the trunk, it gives you a new appreciation for some metal songs.
The song is in different time signatures. It begins in 4/4, then shifts to 3/4 (both with an occasional measure in 2/4). After the verses and choruses, it shifts to 6/4. The heavy doublebass part is again in 4/4, soon switching to 2/2 (Double-Time) up to the end.
This song says it all Metallica was amazing back then love the genuine reaction keep on doing what you're doing I can see the excitement as I had the first time many years ago sorry it took so long to get to you! Definitely go in and watch for whom the Bell tolls video another excellent song!
So, you asked what the time signature is in this song, which made me look up the sheet music on the Internet. It definitely feels like it changes through the song and my hunch was right, as I see that it is written in 2/2, 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 in various parts of the song. Just a really complex composition.
Apparently Master of Puppets has about a dozen different time signatures, including a x/24 time signature. They found this out when they did the collaboration with the symphony.
I believe this was the first video MTV played of Metallica (back when they played videos…). Lars actually called out the execs of MTV at an awards ceremony for finally allowing one of there tracks on the channel. Worth looking up.
I had a waterbed when this came out and a wall of speakers that would put Doc to shame and i used to crank it so loud i could feel the vibrations in the water in the bed and just rock the fuck out to one song anymore then one song popo knocking on the door
The songs from a book/film called Johnny got his gun. Landmine took his arms, legs, speech, sight, hearing and smell. They're keeping him alive when really he wants to die so he tries to use morse code to signal to the nurse to kill him. I used to get so hyped listening to this song, still do but since finding out what it's about everytime I see the video it gets me emotional. What a song! Respect from The UK, 0121! 🤘🏼
I LOVE that you had so much fun with my and my siblings favorite band! It's, "Landmine". You have to hear "Master of puppets" and "Fade to black". You bang your head! Lol Amazing!🤘🏻🤘🏻
You may have found it but I got reactions already to all of the popular Metallica tracks plus some deep ones here. ua-cam.com/play/PLG217Y9Pofu5hs4Ged1MNFPt-JVcx_mqq.html
Since nobody answered your question... James Hetfield: Guitar/Lead vocals Kirk Hammett: Lead guitar Jason Newsted: Bass (he was replaced in 2003 by Rob Trujillo) Lars Ulrich: Drums
You need to react to "Eye Of The Beholder", "The Shortest Straw", and "The Frayed Ends Of Sanity". Another three great songs (left) from "...And Justice For All". Btw.: I did a playlist of you reacting to the whole "...And Justice For All" album! So, yeah, you need to do it!! You won't be dissapointed, trust me!
It cracks me up when reactors are torn apart for pausing, especially during guitar solos. Like they're supposed to know when those will be! I like geuine reactions and this is one of them. Thumbs up.
Bro I’m trippin out about that too. Especially when he said he hasn’t heard anything about Metallica. I’m pretty sure he’s heard master of puppets and this one too lol along with sanitarium and more. Idk what’s going on lol
Love your channel, glad you're back up and running. The drum beat you loved so much, is called quads. You can't do it with one leg, lol. You need a double bass ( 2 floor bass drums) or 1 bass drum and double bass beater ( one foot pedal with two drum beaters). Personally, I think the double bass drum kit looks meaner, but a single bass drum kit is easier to lug around. Quads sound pretty sick either way though. Nice appreciation for a great talent.
I saw this when you originally posted it on your original channel, but I just love your Metallica reactions so much that I had to watch it again just because. Keep up the good work homie! Also question: Are you gonna upload the rest of your videos of Metallica from your original account or are you gonna make some new vids?
I’m uploading all the videos from my old channel here. Every single Metallica reaction! And on this new channel I’ve already made some new Metallica reactions 😊
You do that with your feet usually starting in school.. the kid who is always tapping his feet ... and cant stop ... thats where it stArts ..oh .lt was ..LANDMINE... .. we were looking for land landmine.... thanks for your participation.. we have some lovely parting gifts for you..... 😁
If I can recommend, since you like Metallica, and if you're going to be a Metallica's fan, in that case, listen only first 5 albums. Trust me. Please, do a reaction to this 2 songs. Metallica's One is from 1988, another one is from band Annihilator (Canadian technical thrash metal) and song is Alison Hell fom 1989 (amazing song, believe me and I think most of people will agree with me) and the last one is from 1990 from English heavy metal band, the legends, Judas Priest, from legendary album Painkiller, but song is One Shot At Glory. You'll be amazed by singer's voice, and also by music. IMHO this is THE BEST heavy metal song ever. Not thrash, not death, not black, not power, not but pure heavy metal. Thank me later :)
I had to look for this one since you said on a later vid it was your first time listening to Metallica. So is this your very first metal experience? These guys have heavy concepts to go with the heavy music.
It’s this one. I’m not sure which video you are referring too. I also should let you know that I recorded this video way back on my first channel before it was hacked. This is a re upload.
Lars is a kick ass drummer. He is a monster. Never understood the meme hate. People must never have listened to Puppets or Justice. Insane drumming feel. Lars is one of the best metal drummers of all time. Dave Lombardo? LOL, that one trick pony is a cartoonish joke. Lars has 10x more feel than that one dimensional cartoon drummer. Go listen to Master and Justice. Absolutely KILLER drumming with a monster groove. To the Lars hater, keep posting random hate you read on the internet pasted by 14 year olds who have never drummed. Your death metal speed drummers are garbage, and that's why no one has heard of them, and they've sold 6 total albums, 2 to their parents. MASTER and JUSTICE have some of the best drumming ever put on a metal album.
If you find interesting the notion of an Army General shrugging his shoulders and saying, "I need another dude on the front lines" you'll definitely find Metallica's song "Disposable Heroes" interesting. Not sure if you've done that one before, but it's all about old men sending young men off to war to die.
This is a video you can watch for 3 and a half decades and still not even catch it all most people don’t realize that at the end his friends and family are celebrating his death and he isn’t dead the Military just kinda stores him away and they go on about their business
Metallica is great but so is avenged sevenfold Plzz react to avenged sevenfold danger line with lyrics It's a really deep song with great harmonies and killer solos I hope you notice me brah Edit: vocalist: James hetfield Drummer: Lars Guitarist: Kirk hammets Bass: idk sorry
The time signature in the soft parts are 3/4
Listening to One, for the 1000th time in my life.
Nube
Naturally.
word
What's crazy to me is, James Hetfield, sings these songs while playing those riffs. I could never separate my playing from my voice. Just couldn't get it down.
His passion shines through his extensive abilities to express himself so complexly and skillfully.
Once you have that muscle memory on the guitar established, you don’t have to think about it anymore and you can focus on singing.
Me neither. It's absolutely impossible for me. Then again I'm horrible at multitasking.
I can play guitar and sing at the same time, but not drums and singing. Always land my syllables on the beats lol
He is a different deal.
Your reaction was basically my reaction the first time I heard this song back when I was a kid. I was just like "Oh my God this is a masterpiece".
Dude, watching your reaction to the change of the song in the doble drum part, it brought memories to when I first listened to this master piece. So much hype and its a feeling one cant just explain with words
They are just the absolute best ever PERIOD
13:02 "Hold my pick."

This was literally one of my favourite reactions to One. So genuine man, im glad you re-uploaded this :)
you could say its ONE of a kind... 👀
Johnny Got His Gun is what the song is based on. It's a movie from the 70s that follows the life of a fictional character who suffered a lifechanging accident in the trenches of WWI. Haha..."Hold my pick"
Best comment on a metallica reaction video I've heard. Lovely work WIDD!
I get your reaction. The first time you hear it, it sounds so cool you forget how heavy the story is. I hear it now and it makes angry at war and sad for everyone who suffers because of it. this is the video that made me realize your channel was gone! I was in the mood to rewatch this reaction vid of yours yesterday cause it's the one that got me hooked on your channel, I was looking all over for it! glad you're back!
The 1971 movie, "Johnny Got His Gun" is a hard film to watch. I highly recommend you watch it.
Where can I watch it?
Or read the book.
That was, by far, the most depressing watch of my life. I rented it from the video store (yeah I’m old, get off my lawn!) when the music video came out. That's it it hard to feel the sadness because the music is so amazing. We need to focus on whatever 'music' we can in life.

Good job. One is a masterpiece of metal! Try The day that never comes live, pleeeaase!

This is an amazing song. Awesome you react to Metallica. One of the favorite shows I've ever seen
This about a guy who lost everything from a land mine in war and he can’t move or see so he wants the doctors to kill him
When I saw this I thought, this must be old and I just missed it before. How did you only react to this now?!?! But glad you did.
