Classic, pure classic. Intro belongs to Cliff Burton (and it's based on Bach's piece "Come Sweet Death"), most of the song belong to James & Lars, and the bridge riff belongs to Kirk Hammett. So, they all contributed to this masterpiece

Yup... Volume swells... he's picking Chords high on the neck, with the volume off, then swelling the volume up either with a pedal or the knob on his bass. There was no delay effect. He was making the delay effect manually.

I miss you so much dave because I’ve been gone for couple of months or weeks ego cause I was too busy but not only because of that it no matter if I’m busy or not. The reason why I left and didn’t leave any comments on your videos it is because of I watch so many other videos that has been send it on notification therefore I don’t always watch some of UA-cam videos but I always watch UA-cam shorts so that’s exactly what I’m doing all the time

I'm not a bass player by any means but I think that intro is volume swells with some bass wah pedal in there and a touch of studio. Anyone ? Open to suggestions

I, for one appropriate your commentary! I wish you would go deeper even, flex those jazz muscles, and give more technical commentary, please 👍 I like to learn from other musicians, making me appreciate the music even more!! I play guitar, I think about the fretboard and where to play music that has stringed instruments in it. But I love it when ppl like you pull me out of the habit and think differently about the composition as a whole, plus much more. I know you are looking for bigger numbers, but there aren't many of us who wish for others' input on their territory, most want to be the reactor to other reactors. Ego, closed-minded etc. I could describe it better, but those who know don't need it spoonfed. I am from Europe, and I don't want to piss ppl off but I enjoy the cultural aspects also, it is many reasons.
Anyway, do your jazz and demolish the bad parts, you have the skills, Metallica has lots of nah parts, but they are short and natural, nobody can write gold in perpetuity. I don't like enter sandman, but you do, and I still listen to other people's comments on that stuff. sorry I am repeating myself over and over again.. (I think YT has a method to filter out a discussion from the millions of short vague comments, so my rambling is not a total waste. I talk about things you said, and that is engagement as a youtube friend of mine said)
