  • Get ready for an eye-opening session with Dr. Robert Lustig! 🌡️
Meet the man who's transforming nutrition:
Dr. Robert Lustig is a Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of California, San Francisco, and a leading authority on sugar's impact on diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
He's the author of bestsellers like "Fat Chance," "The Hacking of the American Mind," and "Metabolical," diving deep into the secrets of processed food, nutrition, and modern medicine.
As Chief Science Officer of Eat REAL and an advisory board member for cutting-edge health organizations, he's at the forefront of health innovation.
Now, let's explore the captivating details:
Dr. Lustig is here to unveil "The True Purpose of Nutrition."
Join him and Karen as they dive into the declining quality of life and rising chronic diseases. Discover why these diseases are symptoms of cellular issues, not the root problems.
Brace yourself for "The Hateful or Grateful Eight." These are the game-changers in cellular health:
    1. Glycation: Aging accelerated by sugar intake.
    2. Oxidative Stress: Mitigated by antioxidants.
    3. Mitochondrial Dysfunction: Blame sugar for impaired energy production.
    4. Insulin Resistance: A key player in obesity and illness.
    5. Membrane Instability: Omega-3s to the rescue!
    6. Inflammation: The culprit behind many diseases.
    7. Methylation: Essential for clearing toxins.
    8. Autophagy: Cellular recycling for health.
Dr. Lustig emphasizes that nutrition can make these processes either "hateful" or "grateful." Medications treat symptoms, but the real solution lies in metabolic health through proper nutrition.
    Explore your nutrition:
    1. Analyze your food diary for sugar and processed foods.
    2. Find areas where small changes can make a big impact.
    3. Remember, sleep and exercise are vital for metabolic health. Keep an eye on your sleep quality and exercise routine.

I know! It makes me so sad. Everyone wants a quick fix or magic pill these days when the truth is that TRUE health takes consistency and doing hard things for your health everyday.

I'm on a modified fast by having regular low sugar meals, every 2 -3 hours, called fuelings, prepared, added vitamins, prebiotics, fiber, making good nutrition convenient. One meal is 5 to 7 ounces of a protein with measured amounts of low sugar vegetables. I feel better than I did 20 years ago.

It's worth taking time to do a little study to understand. Basics are pretty static. It's worth the time and energy because of mass cover up even in highest levels of medical practice, even research. Look for patterns, use common sense. It's basically what doctors used to say, eat good, or whole food. This contrasts what we eat today and why it is killing us, using the Science to explain.

This is my third vid, and wow, the guests are top drawer. I credit IF and super-low carb with saving my life, and this talk was just the best to explain the benefits clearly and concisely. I can easily pass this on. Thanks so much! Subbed and will be tuning in on the regular.

@@karenthomson You're so welcome! We all need to be our own healers, and THIS is what the internet should be, as we said years ago, an information highway. Keep up the good work. Any information on how nutrition affects our brain/mental health would be something I'd like to see more about. Thanks so much. Love & light, from Canada.

I’ve been on the carnivore for 4 months, eating mainly meat. Once a week I might have some carbs in my meal, but I’ve cut 95% of the junk from my diet, I’ve lost 30 lbs also. But my recent blood test show my glucose went from 90 to 105 and my ALT ( liver test) went from 25 to 32. I thought those were suppose to get better, not worse. Anyone know why? I’m at a loss. 😢

Incorporate a cup of milk daily. Physiologic insulin resistance occurs when we don't eat any caebs for too long. Elevated fasting glucose, triglycerides, and liver enzymes can result for some people

You need low sugar green, high fiber vegetables, not just meat and carbs. Just getting off high processed foods is improvement.

Back in the day I drank 2 glasses of OJ for the "pure health and vitamin C" . Now I know it's Liquid Glucose and Fructose. And I'm quite angry about it.

Thank you for your reply & for asking... well, I'm thinking maybe Dr. Lustig could go through each of the 8 points & then discuss or give examples of the foods we can or should not eat (of course, we know sugar is the answer to all of them but anything additionally) like different types of carbs, animal proteins & fats etc. Does that make sense? THANKS SO MUCH
