3:02 quick lore correction. curiously enough the Space marene DNA is according to lore, still 100% human, the dna of teh primarch overlays itself with the human dna, effectivally evolving the human genome, to be more in line with that of a primarch, but despite ltreations, teh core of it remains human, they are fundamentally diferent but they are not fundamentally changed, no direct tampering, all in all they are more human than say, a mutant.

@@thelordofthelostbraincells I’m not sure, it’s pretty complicated, though a common reason has to do with gene seed and all the Primarchs being male.
I do know there used to be models of female space marines YEARS ago but Games Workshop stopped making them because they weren’t selling well.
There could’ve been some at one point in the lore but I highly doubt GW will confirm it

Most men won't admit it, but we don't wanna see women in war because they don't want to see them die.
We die for them. They get the safety and security of the income. We don't have to deal with that pain and injustice of inversed roles. Kinda how it's been since forever.
Men largely don't lactate, and can be peer pressured into achieving a common goal, and be happy in the comaraderie whether or not they agree with it.
I cannot say so on behalf of the women everywhere, and I cannot say contrariwise.
But men are relatively simple, and if we're not, it's low testosterone, by choice or by fate.
And the obvious example is that Bear Grylls island challenge where they took like a dozen men and a dozen women, separated them, and put them on an island.

Each chapter uses the genes of the Primarchs (the Emperor's 20 sons) to enhance aspirants and most people reject the associated artifical organs based on genetic combatibility with a given Primarch. The implication is that women are less genetically similar to the Primarchs than men are and as a result are more likely to reject the various implants.
This raises the question of why the Emperor only made sons? My theory is that he still has some ancient bias from when he lived during the bronze age and there was no one who could tell him no (Malcador tried, but the Emperor literally thought he was joking).

Honestly, I feel like if you are crying sexism in 40k you're probably not really a 40k fan. Yeah, I get wanting more female models on a meta level, but you got Sisters of Silence and Sisters of Battle, and they are awesome in their own right. If you're claiming a sexism problem in lore you need to stop pretending your into 40K. To me that's like getting mad Drukhari are bad people. Only reason to want female space marines is because they are the poster children of the franchise.
Sisters of Silence model line sucks to be fair. Would be cool if they could actually fight with the Custodes instead of just being objective holders. Shiny Gretchen.

I think the decision to give the alien a globulus was harder in this case than if it were just a portion of gene seed because it seems in this series the globulus turns or merges the recruits into the previous owner. So giving that up is letting her eat that specific soldier, probably someone he knew, fought alongside, maybe even a friend, and he isn’t coming back.

To be fair about the wanting to be space marine or not. In 40 the life for most people in the imperium is pretty bad and lot of them end up as soldiers anyway, so being a super soldier is probably way better than most options for most people.

throw in being saddled with being a natural disaster response force and you have the Canadian military.
Every time there is a flood or some other disaster the provincial governments just slap the "aid to civil power" button and pull the army from whatever they are doing to go fill sand bags or fight forrest fires. Without most of the equipment or specalised training to do so. And then the provinces don't learn to fund or form a disaster response force after and the cycle repeats again but even more often.
@@avroarchitect1793 thats what they do in the US military as well. Other nations natural disasters get the Federal arms of the military and internally our National Guard units deal with natural disasters. At least when we respond to those we usually get more thanks for the work we do.
@@aeronothis5420 it's not what the CAF is built for or what it's primary duty is. It's getting to the point where it is interfering with normal training and readiness. It's supposed to be a last emergency measure, not the primary response.

There are reasons in the lore why it is impossible to turn females into Astartes. This has nothing to do with sexism.
Trust me, become a Tempestus Scion, stormtrooper, or a Sister of Battle. Just as brutal training, and you won’t have to become a space marine.

In all seriousness, though, I love that this Rogue Trader versions of marines that are literally ‘NO GIRLS IN THE SUPER TREEHOUSE’, and the Space King artwork is a perfect representation of the attitude he passed down to his action-figure sons.
It has everything to do with sexism. The Emperor made a choice based on several factors not to have female space marines. He could have, no problem. He didn't want them. He literally discriminated based on sex. That's the definition of sexism but also before you reply remember:
To live in 40K is to live in the worst time ever! It's supposed to be bad. It's supposed to be all awful all the time, there are no good guys. Like the guy in the video said, it's literally the least worst thing in a universe filled with so much worse. The space marines are a literal satire of pubescent male Peter Pan fantasies where they can keep all the gross girls out of their clubhouse so they can do important things like fighting and questing and hanging out with the boys having sword fights.
You don't have to defend all-male space marines, but the people who cry foul are also missing the point. Bad things can be bad in fiction without authorial endorsement. It's called the point.
Also, bonus sisters of battle. Also bad, not good, militant nuns who only got to be where they are because of a legal loophole. Their sex is literally objectified and presented to get around a technicality.
Everything in 40K is the worst version of the universe on purpose. It's okay to have things that aren't okay in your work. It's like the old joke about fans wanting to live in their favorite setting and 40K fans are like, "Nah, I'm good." Debris cascades already happen in orbit, they eventually lose orbital stability and either burn up or escape orbit. Stable orbits are actually very hard to maintain in things with relatively low mass. The reason we have treaties against orbital weapons is because it's something no side wants to deal with and because it's impractical.
Think if I remember right there was an attempt to do female space marines once, didn't go well at all. Was scrapped and then ye got the sisters of battle instead.

R strategy vs K strategy is something that the Starship Troopers book goes into that the movie doesn't, which is why I see a lot of people who only saw the movie misunderstand the conflict. They think the humans have to have done something nefarious because to them the actions of the bugs don't make sense. (probably also combined with a couple of generations of ingrained self-loathing) Because the bugs are a total collectivist super-organism that thinks only in terms of species, they can't comprehend balkanization, fractalization or sub-factions. To them a hand full of separatist landing on their planet is not a small colony of separatists, it was humans invading bugs, period. And so the only logical response to them is the genocide of the human species because half measures and individual responsibilities are not part of their psychology.

So great video, and I love your raising the point about TBI and trauma combined with emotional instability, but I want to point out a few things.
Firstly I want to nerd out and explain Space Marines are fitted with emotional regulators and artificial or engineered organs that stimulate them or sedate them as needed to not freak out. They are basically eunuch warriors (with some notable exceptions) that are chemically castrated to have no biological drives, the gene seeds alter their DNA to make them near clones of their Primarch and some have genetic faults that predispose them to rage for example like World Eaters and Blood Angels. Most Space Marines are closer to warrior monks or crusaders than soldiers, they have emotions, desires and intentions, as well as freewill, but much of the biologically or worldly desires are muted to none existent. They are able to hold their breath and slow their biology down to survive hours in a vacuum, it's easier top view them as immortal primarily organic cyborgs with their own wills than men.
Higher Test isn't the cause of emotional instability or "roid rage" but rather the aromatization of free testosterone that is unbinded converting to excess estrogen which then has adverse reactions in mood and health. It's actually men with lower overall T or bad hormone regulation who suffer the most from emotional instability this can be from misuse of steroids or other PEDs, constant poor sleep, poor diet, lack of or too much physical activity, and age. Mid to late teens and middle aged men are most vulnerable to hormonal imbalance, so you can see the military is sort've a huge combo of those factors and trauma. It's important to understand though that Test in itself is not at all the cause of violent or aggressive behavior and those are symptom of an overall systemic imbalance that require a holistic understanding. This is as bad a myth in my opinion as the all forms of soy are estrogenic when fermented soy is actually beneficial to the regulation of hormones. Further some people are more sensitive to androgenic compounds and processed food and anti-perspirants contain astronomical amounts of estrogenic compounds.
Tl;dr High estrogen is the actual cause for roid rage and most Space Marines don't have roid rage

Conversely, Stardefenders serve a combat role that titans can’t serve. Able to go to places where they can’t. Able to engage with enemies in situations where a titan wouldn’t even fit.

I don't think you have to be a horrible person to be a billionaire, but I definitely think that the chance that you're still an ethical person approaches zero. I think the amassing of such wealth that simultaneously means it has become trivial if not meaningless to the owner but could help so many lives is probably some kind of poor mental state to be in.

There was female space marines in the very beginning before warhammer was warhammer, nobody bought them so they dropped it for 40k and later made sisters of battle, similar as in monks and nuns with guns in space with power armor, Now they want Female space marines because its 2024 and cant have a boys only thing in the spotlight, Just to make someone who wants to change 40 years of backstory and lore, who by the way is probably a just a Tourist to the fandom happy. Just because One Key fits One lock doesn't make it a skeleton key.
There were never any female Space Marines made. The two female models in Rogue Trader were prototype Sisters of Battle that were only released because GW didn't have enough decent models for a wave. Someone got some unpainted models and "sister" was etched into the metal tab that slotted into the base. The symbol on the painted models was seen in early RT artwork of the Sisters too.

1) Sex being ‘evil’. I can’t speak for most religions, and I know Islam is so far into what you’ve said that it’s entirely accurate- a woman without coverings is seen as an unwrapped lollipop, that’ll be swarmed by ants. And it’s pretty revolting.
But on Christianity, I really don’t know where this idea came from. Sex is never shown as an evil or sinful thing. Sure, you get uptight old people who think it, but they also think dancing is indulgent, Harry Potter is satanic and that rock and roll summons demons.
The Bible has an entire book dedicated to courtship and sex, and how beautiful it can be. The thing it warns about, is doing it wrong.
Fire is a great, necessary thing, to warm the house and cook your food. If you burn down your house, it will go poorly. That doesn’t make you ‘anti-fire’, or ‘anti-sex’, it just makes you smart.
The reason it ‘sounds so stupid’ to deny sex as an intrinsic part of a human life.. is because it is. Which is why the Bible never comes close to saying it. It’s just a stereotype, from the Bible Belt in the 60’s and 70’s, and many other overly-strict cultures throughout the centuries.
2) God ‘always telling people what they want to hear’. This one I always sympathise with, we’ve all heard of that Megachurch Pastor who God ‘just wants to have a private jet’, and cult leaders exist for a reason, where God just ‘wants them to sleep with all the women and get all the money’.
Then again, there’s also a lot of accounts of people who have ‘heard God speak to them’, and have immediately dropped everything, left their comfortable life and possessions behind, and trek off into the middle of nowhere to help build wells and farms in the most remote, mosquito-bitten parts of Africa, where they’re suffering each day. And they never come back to their old life, or western comforts, like something’s fundamentally changed with how seriously they take life.
I’d bet you my left shoe that’s not what they ‘wanted’ to hear. And yet some of them get up and move like they’ve been electrocuted. And it’s the story behind a lot of the greatest missionary and humanitarian aid workers in the last half-century. My family has actually known people who say God ‘spoke to them’, and have uprooted everything comfortable and given everything away to live a hard life doing something.
I know it’s really easy to just throw comments like that out there, because it IS true… I’ve talked to people who God just ‘wants to be rich and to have your money’, and history is full of stories of Allah excusing child marriage because Mohammed just happened to be trying to do that, while also hating everyone Mohammed hated.
But it’s a bit unfair to throw blanket statements like that. I’ve started to come around to the idea of God as I’ve gotten older and seen more about humanity and life, and I still find the idea of ‘God’ talking to these MegaChurch pastors hilarious.
But it’s a bit unfair to claim that ‘95% of people’ just hear what they want to hear, when so many charities and foundations have started with people throwing away life savings, McDonalds and air conditioning to follow ‘the voice of God’ into the wilderness.
