there is actually a specific anti vehicule grenade for the famas that is shot with real ammo, fun fact you have to use a special position to use it due to the recoil, if you don't the rifle will slam you in the face, you can tell in training who didn't because they have two mark of the handguard on the face
It's like having the word idiot written on you
16:30 The FAMAS actually has a switch to select on which side the shell casings are eject so it is ambidextrous! Actually was able to fire one not long ago
You have to pull it apart and swap the extractor and the dummy extractor on the bolt, as well as the ejection port covers.
There is a switch on it behind the magazine for swapping between full auto and burst fire.
Zach's enthusiasm is infectious. I'm not a gun person at all, but I love when zach goes on his rants.
paul reacting to guns is always educational for me. thanks for the knowledge man. you rock. Wishing you the best man. looking forward to more from you dude.
Forgotten weapons has a few good videos on the em2, I’m not sure if he coined the phrase but he referred to it as ‘the best Cold War rifle that never was’ and it’s notably very light, worked, and had standardised optic sights (no magnification but still a step above iron sights) and only back up iron sights
Stop with the unnecessary BGM; if you're going to put BGM don't put it over the video, that is just common sense.
22:47 - The Soviets and the NATO both developed 40 mm grenades for under-barrel grenade launchers. Rifle grenades can vary in caliber greatly. French AC58 anti-armour rifle grenade is 58 mm in caliber, while dual purpose APAV 40 is 40 mm, both are fired from FAMAS.
you have come along way, i first watched you in 2021 and i come back and you got subtitles, background music and quality is so much better! keep up the amazing work
I'd love to listen to some gun rants of your very own some time, Paul! Always love the little anecdotes and trivia you seem to have on pretty much anything.
10:16 And then there is the Italian BM59, which is a better M14 than the actual M14.
Imagine calling a 7.62 clone of the M1 Garand better than the M14 and actually being correct.
the carrying handle on the AR was originally just a shield for the charging hook. it only incidentally became a "carry handle" when the hook got moved rearward and became the modern charging handle. though the way the military explains it is mostly dumb or incomprehensible each time it's brought up
I think it looks cool even though it doesn't really serve much of a purpose in the modern day and is largely being removed
always love watching your vids when you post. I forgot how i found you outside of being suggested when i was browsing 40k vids
"The Guns of John Moses Browning" by Nathan Gorenstein is an excellent biography of JMB, that also goes over some of the myth around his gun designs, but the most impressive thing I gleaned from it, is he started as a blacksmith helping his father, then revolutionized several categories of arms by 1900. He got his start fixing flintlocks. And he himself( and his brothers) never left the blacksmith forge for prototypes.
Paul please realse more videos like this! It just makes my day to see you react to Zahc and Mike shananigans! Also I have that one video with you and Zach, on repeat while I'm doing chores, when I'm taking shower or even when I sleep! I just love to listen to two war veterans talking ^^
Bullpups CAN be ambidextrous! The F2000 is a great example of this. Basically you can make the rifle extract either downwards or even forward. F2000 does the latter and it is engineered really well. There is a tube which channels the spent casings forth and fits 3 casings at the time. When a new one enters the tube the oldest casing is just gently pushed out. Again, it seems to be so weak that you'd think there are reliability issues but just like the P90 magazines, FN does magic with their designs.
The ONE downside of bullpups which Zach forgot to talk about though is that they are very hard to access when there is a malfunction. You often have to take the weapon apart which isn't a good thing. Some cleverly designed bullpups can sidestep this issue but conventional designs have this by default.
Another issue which is often brought up yet not quite a problem for militaries is the trigger pull. Almost every bullpup has terrible triggers. Technically you can also solve this but then it makes the weapon more complicated so it'd need lots of smart engineering to solve. Military triggers are usually bad to begin with so this is not a special problem, albeit a common complaint for hobby shooters.
I own a Browning Hi Power pistol but now I can't find replacement parts because the type I have was discontinued in 2018
6:00 Yeah despite being developed in the 40s the EM2 had a lot of aspects that were ahead of it's time, the only problem I've found with it (at least in H3VR) is that sight is so far above the barrel that you run into problems especially in close quarters where the bullet is hitting much further down than where you're aiming
The FAMAS can be fully converted to be used by lef-handed soldiers, the whole system is just to be inversed and can be done in the field.
i swear to god, when he fired that famas he sounded like Tom from Tom and Jerry
0:42 "Shotguns are more of a to whom it may concern." Well, no shit. So is artillery.
No no, artillery is “dear grid coordinates”

The modern and much more easily accessible versions of a rifle grenade launched would be the Can Cannon. It's an AR-15 upper with a 40mm tube that works just like a blunder buss with blanks.
That being said, i want one chambered for .308 instead of 5.56 so i can load in what ever i want. That way i can launch it with enough force to perhaps "mist" a rat or two.

2:35 to be fair so is the wheel .. bot no one ever gives me any credit
the EM-2 looks kind of like a prototype of the AUG (and yes I am 100% certain that I am wrong)
Saiga does have a specific receiver, because the magazine well needs to be a lot bigger - I think it's even slightly extended from a regular AK-47. I think there's some adjustment to the bolt carrier rails too, to accommodate the bigger bolt head, but I'm not sure. It's been a while since I last saw a field-stripped Saiga. AK variants don't really have 'lowers' and 'uppers' like an AR, anyway, there's the receiver and parts just sit in there, and there's a top cover that's just held in place by a slot and a spring latch.
What I find funny about the 'butchered' AK-74 is that there are variants with shorter barrels, and it doesn't even look _that_ short, the AKS-74U is a lot shorter than that. The game version does look heavily Bubbaed, though.
Name Saiga is given to a group of ak derivatives made by koncern kalashnikov
So saigas have like a hundred of configurations. different calibers, different barrel lenghts, furniture, trigger groups, stocks etc.
Saiga is a general term given to a product line of civilian firearms not just one gun
@@theheavyartillery545 Doesn't matter, it's all on the basic Kalash receiver, so what I said applies - unless you're looking at exactly a Saiga 7.62x39mm you're going to see some modification of the receiver.
@@Finwolven completely the opposite
Rifle caliber saigas up to 7.62x39 so, including 5.45x39, 5.56x45, 9x19, 5.6x39 ars all built on ak 74m reciever, calibers that have higher pressure are built on an rpk reciever which is noticeable with its bulged front
9x19 saiga 9 however has a different reciever and a gas block, however still accepts standard ak furniture
We should have Generals that only serve for 2 years that are rotated out for new Generals
DID THEY TURNED A ASSAULT RIFLE INTO A SHOTGUN!!!!??????
What is that music in the back?
Just checked something if he's referring to that M14 that got turned into a sniper rifle the mark 14 EBR it weighs 11 lb not 20 that is admittedly 4 lb heavier than an M16 but it's about the same weight as the m24 a comparable military sniper rifle so I think Zach got his information wrong
I was thinking that it was the MK14, but I needed confirmation. Thanks.
That weight is just plain without optics or bipod and the other accessories and those will definitely add some weight.
There is also the M39 which is even heavier at 13lbs unloaded and without any accessories.
@@DrWolfensteinz issue is that would go for basically any military sniper rifle they're going to get heavier once you start putting optics and everything else on I think Zach might have a bit of a grudge against this rifle
@@spartanx9293 Zach's clearly working on hyperbole for the M14 series of rifles, but it's weight is comparable to more modern DMRs that offer better accuracy, better ergonomics, more rail space for attachments, and are overall better rifles that haven't needed a whole new chassis designed to address the shortcomings of a rifle that was outdated before it was even fielded.
@@DrWolfensteinz what's wrong with the mark 14? It's One thing to make these claims and another to actually line them out
19:21 So with the FAMAS using steel case ammo it is an engineering compromise with delayed blowback weapons generally that is made. So with delayed blowback weapons the mechanism that determines the rate of fire, extraction pressure, and all that jazz is a wedge on the bolt carrier that moves the locking lugs, rollers, flaps, or levers from a locked position to an unlocked position. The benefit of this is that if you know your ammo is going to be higher pressure you can fit the army with a certain bolt specification without changing or retooling a bunch of rifles and it is something that can be done with a field strip. The FAMAS engineers were probably concerned that the gun might have trouble taking different qualities and ages of bullets with the number of countries in NATO so they went for a higher extract pressure. The consequence of that decision was that the gun has basically double the rate of fire from the M16 and issues with brass cased ammo so the French army decided to just change the ammo because that would be cheaper and easier on the economies of scale that state arsenals have.
You will also find that other delayed blowback weapons have an easier time with steel cased ammo as well. If you have a SIG AMT, a G3, MP5, PTR 32, Calico, Zenith, or whatever try it with steel case and you will see you have a much easier time with case ejection. Downside is that they get real heavy with steel.
Romania is NATO member but they use a AK clone notable for it's carved foregrip. It shoots 5.45. Apparently all there 5.56 weapons is used by special forces only.
On the bright side, we're finally taking the Brit's advice on ammo (XM-5 is in .277/6.8mm), granted its 70 years too late.
.280 British is a weaker cartridge than the new .277 Fury from Sig as they are an intermediate caliber and a full power rifle cartridge respectively. Only really following it in terms of projectile diameter as the .280 British is more in line with 7.62x39mm and 5.56x45mm as it is like 7.2x43mm
Pual i know you're just throwing stuff and seeing what sticks in terms of editing but you can stand to lose the background music
3:18 no Vulcan arms, those guns are more comparable to hand grenadines

To be honest I don't like the background music, sounds like clothing store music, I'd rather listen to the video without music
music in the background kinda distracting but all in all a good vid.
are adjustable stocks because of variable arm length?
That and the use of body armor can require a shorter length of pull. Plus, adjustable stocks can also be used to make storage a bit easier.

I thought people knew the FAMAS because of MGS1 besides Counter strike
Don’t forget the Afghans that Bedazzled their M16s and M249s.
The Saiga 12 does not have the reliability of an AK. The gas system had pretty bad teething issues. It still is only reliable with a narrow variety of loads compared with pretty much any other SA shotgun. Honestly it's pretty overrated in my opinion.
Another downside to bullpups is that the trigger is far away from the rest of the firing mechanism and the linkages between the two create a worse trigger pull experience which could also create less acurracy
Could you react to Cinemadness: Subjugtion (1/2)?

and he is wrong on the M-14 . as such most know it still STILL is a DMR in service today . And to boot i have my grandpas from ww2 or Korea. still works fine.
Variants of it are still in use as DMRs, but are behind more modern DMRs like the M110 for military use. They remain due to them already being in inventory, and the military's weird reluctance when it comes to the M14 and its derivatives.
Are you sure you have an M14 from your grandfather? Him having a M1 Garand from WWII is a bit more believable than a Korea era M14.

Day 64 of asking Paul to react to Tanya the Isekai demon
129926.
I don't like the FAMAS for various reasons. The gun operates at the thinnest sliver within tolerance of the cartridge it fires. It also reminds me of the terrible initial design of the AR-10 where the carry handle was there solely to protect the charging system and made using optics prohibitive. I've heard tell of the plastic parts including the cheekpiece. As with most bullpups of this 20-30 year era they look like plastic pieces of trash. As an aside I am largely biased by how undesirable I find 5.56 NATO to be as an intermediate cartridge, anyways. .30 caliber cartridges will always be a superior intermediate cartridge in my mind.
