    This video is in conjunction with the Budo Brothers, a martial arts team that puts out content, sells apparel and does amazing things for getting youth involved in martial arts training.
    These are some helpful ways to defend against common ways someone may be pinned or attacked against a wall. I focus in this video on the one-hand choke, two-hand choke, shirt or jacket pin and the headlock. By no means a comprehensive list, but some of the most common and some of the most solid defenses available for these situations.
    Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already.

    I like the last one addressing the headlock against the wall. It's the same concept as on the ground using the wall as a substitute. On the first one, instead of just shoving his hand aside, I would have destroyed his bicep with my forearm then came back with an elbow or two. If you have never had that done to your bicep you don't know what you're missing in life lol.

    The same moves that I normally use in situations like that(which do work) would be the same moves that I would use again if I was up against the wall. I mean I would have to make some adjustments, but the science is the same.

  • @EwingMCSE
    @EwingMCSE 4 роки тому

    I liked the video and the moves - except the first escape. Seems like it leaves you very vulnerable to the incoming punch from the aggressor's free hand. You have to complete a right hook to his wrist and a back elbow before he delivers a straight left to the exposed side of your head.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  4 роки тому +1

      The trajectory of the block/strike that knocks his hand off your neck covers a significant enough portion of your head and face to account for the incoming punch...which only comes if you waited for it to come. For him to grab your throat and punch with the other hand at the same time is very unnatural and awkward for him.

      I should have included an option for that. One key component of that though is to consider that it requires the bad guy to use both his hands to trap both of yours in such a way. He has to release one to really attack. I’ll try to make another video regarding this.

      Daniel - there are a lot of wall pins of different types in the canon of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. These are some of the most important I feel like, or at least contain the most important mechanics and principles. It’s hard to say the frequency with which they happen and I’m sure that depends on a lot of factors like geography, age, sex, etc. I just feel like it’s better to know them than not to have an answer. Thank you for watching🙏

    With all due respect, I just cannot see the average person utilizing these techniques successfully in an extremely stressful situation such as getting attacked, and usually by a bigger/stronger/willful person.
    Try to find a loose finger while being choked? These techniques seem good for regular jiu-jitsu practitioners though. It is of course only my opinion that Krav Maga techniques in this instance would be more useful to the layperson. I haven’t practiced KM in almost 20 years but still remember the techniques and its effectiveness. Peace.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  4 роки тому

      I don’t expect this to work for anyone who doesn’t train it. Without sufficient training, nothing works for anyone. This however, with training, has been tested and proven over and over again in actual attacks. This technique has been refined by hundreds to thousands of practitioners over scores of years. Each of these techniques has. I’ve pressure tested this and trained it a lot, as I have anything I ever share on video. Krav Maga is great, but if you haven’t trained in over 20 years, I can’t see you still pulling anything off. I’ve trained for over 25 years in Jiu-Jitsu and other systems, and haven’t taken time off for more than a week at a time. I don’t just hop on UA-cam and make things up.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  4 роки тому

      The Amphibious One - I agree with you on all points. The only thing I would add on as well is that the most natural instinctive respond to a choke is for the receiver of the choke to reach and grab at the hands on the attacker on his or her neck. That’s why the finger pry is natural and can be effective.
      Thanks for the thoughtful and intelligent comments.

  • @glennrudzik1007
    @glennrudzik1007 4 роки тому

    Just really look at the technique, if you don’t move as soon as your grabbed it’s going to be raining knuckles. I’ve unfortunately been involved in two different street alterations and believe me when I tell you, it’s extremely fast, and very violent! One on one if your very very fortunate, that’s all I’m saying, don’t get angry with me, just look closer at the technique.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  4 роки тому

      I’ve looked at my technique, and it’s not mine to begin with. It has been passed on for many years and tested by lots of practitioners. I’ve also pressure tested this one (and anything I share) and with a gloved opponent throwing strikes with the free hand. It works. Over and over again. But only if you understand it and train it sufficiently. If you don’t train it then it won’t work...like everything.
