The biggest problems occur when people blame their partner for their unhappiness and this sours the whole thing making it worse and worse. The greatest way to solve problems is to talk and listen patiently to your partner with a sympathetic ear and understanding. You cannot correct your partner, you can only correct yourself. But both parties must participate, not only one. You are entitled to speak your mind, but then you must listen to your partner equally and try to accomodate them.
@@heidiTouray I sympathise totally. This situation is quite common. I have experienced something similar and it is affecting my health. I am not a professional counsellor, but I know that backing off or ignoring the problem will only lengthen your suffering. I would advise you to get away for a while, so that you can both assess the situation more objectively. I am not taking sides, but you might look up 'narcissists'.
I am not quite sure how this can work if one person is doing the work of looking at themselves while the other one refuses to acknowledge that they have any problems and is still constantly blaming the other one.
How about being married to a narcissist how blamed me for everything and diminishes me. How does that has to do with my childhood? Its painful to be called names.
Literally everything. What plays out in our adult life has already played out in our childhood. I'm sure now that two years have passed you must've made that judgment.
Bottom line is that we need to heal first. Its not that we zero in on someone to heal our wounds as much as we start playing the role we played as children to be accepted and loved. We ignore our own abuse and put someone else's needs above us. This is the biggest behavior of a child raised in a narcissistic environment
The only way forward is to recognize that we can't ask our partner to "fix" the wounds of childhood. All we can do is own them and then stop blaming our partner for "our" feelings. Once you "own" that reality, much of the negative energy in your relationship will disappear and you can both get back to loving each other as "adults". Then you can get on with the work of healing your "inner-child" through growth in self-awareness. Over time, when the childhood feelings arise, you will recognize they are not "created" by your partner. I find that going for a walk and talking to my inner-child is helpful. It helps me "own" my own feelings.
