My husband left 10 months ago. I did all the things she mentioned cried, begged, fought, etc… Recently I have just accepted this might be my future alone. I’m sorry you are going through that and it may not help but I can relate. My wife left me one week after our 17th wedding anniversary. She had been planning it for months, had a lawyer and took all our savings and our children. She cut off all communication and then accused me of abuse and other bad things through her lawyer. I kept saying to myself “who is this? The woman I’ve been with for almost 20 years wouldn’t act this way”. We’ve been separated for six weeks and I haven’t seen my children the entire time. The one good thing in this is that my relationship with God has grown. I’ve been humbled and God has used this to help me see how much I need Him. I pray more than ever and I’m taking things one day at a time and trusting that God will see me through this.

I did the prayers. Ive learned to not rely on a higher person. Noone will fix whats been broken. The broken is broken. As i see prayed harder the worse it got. I found recently when I can curb my emotions and resist my hopeless thoughts when I'm with her and just be supportive and kind and show concern for her well being, she opens up to me! Stop "push" behaviors--begging, whining, unnecessary crying (lowers your apparent value)
Don't start fights
Don't "hover" (spoken like a helicopter pilot's wife!)--don't track, monitor, stalk; destroys trust
Manage "business" items together: areas for which you'll have to talk--taxes, children, mortgages; DO keep spouse updated here. Avoid negative interactions, even if they want to fight! Be strong, calm, and gentle. Calling is preferred to text messages due to possibility for misinterpretation/escalation. Then, once trust is built, you can start asking simple, non-emotional questions: "How was your day at work?" Then, allow your spouse to start conversations with you. VERY important that you remain safe, calm, strong, and gentle (even playful/friendly as appropriate?) if your spouse engages you, no matter how he/she has been toward you--but of course, don't tolerate abuse. Be gentle with yourself, too, because you won't be perfect every time.
Take it one day at a time. Some days will be better than others. May seem like your relationship is regressing.

It makes me so Angry and Sad that she doesn't even care enough to send a text to make sure I'm okay when it's 10 degrees outside. I am so mad at myself thoug, I know that I have done a lot of things to break her down mentally regarding my past addictions, and she also said that I can make her feel insecure about herself. So I hope she changes her mind, then I can once and for all prove to her that I intend to be the best husband I can be for her, and start our whole marriage over again.

@@debras2430 Thanks Debra. I appreciate you replying. It certainly has been awful. I saw a counsellor who said I’m suffering from trauma and I seem to have all physical symptoms. It’s only been three weeks but today I felt a bit better. Makes you realize the strength that is inside you. I didn’t know I had that kind of strength.
God brought my wife and I together. The devil tore us apart....but God is all powerful and He can restore our marriage. We must put Him first in our lives. Focus on Christ, love Him above all else, then the rest will make sense.

Thank you very much. My wife and I have separated for several weeks now and I've been going out of my mind. I've caused it because of problems in myself and infidelity with social media. Watching this video has calmed and focused me. Again thank you! Since the separation I've stopped all behaviors. Apologized asked for forgiveness and taking steps proving my love and devotion for her. Also have started counseling weekly to repair our marriage. I hope to regain my wifes love and trust one day. I try pray and show I love her daily. She means the world to me and im truly a broken man without her.

I have been separated for 7 months and I'm just realizing how much my actions and behaviour hurt my wife. She asked me to leave and it took awhile for me to see what I was doing to her. Now that I know I'm trying to be the best me for our 2 kids and for her. I dont think she will come back but I hope I can salvage a friendship. Shes the best person I know and she deserved better. My wife moved out two days ago, we spoke today and luckily, I unknowingly followed these steps pretty close. In a nutshell, we have a big misunderstanding of what we both perceived to be doing correctly for each other and didn't verify if we were doing what we both asked from each other. Unfortunately, it's been an emotional erosion for her, and I heard her and understood more when I asked her to explain, because I really thought I was on track. A good thing is that I didn't plead, cry, I listened strong, calm and gentle to consider her explanations and emotions. Now, One-day-at-a-time. God will not give me a challenge I cannot over overcome, and he will give me the strength to overcome it.

Superb advice. I'm currently in the process of divorce and I've read and watched a LOT since my wife told me she had her lawyer send the papers to court, and this is very to the point. Crisp and clear. I've already tried some of this and had some successes but sadly it's not enough, my wife's very headstrong and convinced she's going to get a better life away from me, even though I've changed so much and grown for the better as a person. @@acemany1126 Pretty good actuall , I was too attached and realized that a person needs their personal space at times, I've understand that my own insecurities can and will backfire against me, but I've learned how to trust and communicate...without trust and compassionate communication in a relationship you have nothing.

We all go through hard times. Be the person your spouse want you to become. Most of them does not work coz it lacked effort. If its gonna take a lifetime or even more thats okay. As long as you know your spouse love you from the bottom of the heart. Even though they say they dont see the future with you at the moment do not forget to notice how hurt they are inside, just dont believe them at the time. Do not cheat stay calm. The absolute ironic thing about this advice (and I’m not in anyway disagreeing with nor am I against this advice) is that in order to achieve the true S.M.A.R.T acronym status, it generally means one has come to terms with the fact that the marriage is indeed over.
It’s when we haven’t accepted it that we are most likely to have adopted the push behaviours, the inability to manage things together without asking or showing we want more, the getting your own point across, the irrational or emotionally driven responses.
To be “smart” means you have generally begun the process of moving on.

The most painful and devastating thing I ever experienced was being separated from my wife of 25 yrs, it was killing me from the inside out, she of course acted like it didnt bother her at all, we never got back together but I'm ok and she seems to be ok, so all is good,
Yes my point to lots here exactly men do suffer but the women don't most of the time, they can move on without a second thought because they were already doing the dirty for a long time before found out or even sometimes you never find out. Yes it hurts been there done that in my youth but once I learned the hard way know one takes advantage and wins now I would just walk away without a word. You learn to cultivate a mindset of Indifference to protect yourself from bad people.
Great advice and after a long time and many difficult months I have almost mastered the SMART communication. Much of it stems from how much time I spend with God in the Bible. My identity and worth come from the Lord and honestly I have totally and completely forgiven my spouse for everything I felt was (done) to me. This has released power to love him and not be so emotional.
My husband just drove away. I was so upset then I gave it to God. God made it very clear that my husband left him/GOD and our marriage was just a casualty . My husband is leaving GOD's will 1st. Of course if he can leave God who am I??

He later told me that he gave up on God, me and himself as a Christian. He chose to be a cheater with a new person he found. What am I to him now as he has given up on his God. It's the same story written with different names and faces, but basically the same evil story. Broken relationships, broken promises, broken faith in God. Sin has consequences though and he will reap what he has now sown.

Many woman makes the same mistake in marriage. Simply because you do not want to accept your Godly position in marriage. Remember what the bible say about God,s creation. When he brought all the animals infront of Adam so that Adam can give them names ? And God find out that its not good for a man to be alone. I have to give him a help... So Do not take Adam,s position. Play you Godly position then everything will be well. Trust God in that. ..

I am doing everything that you are talking about in this video. Crying, begging, pleading and trying to convince her that I am a good guy. I realize after this that I am pushing her further away. I really hope i can be strong enough to do what you are saying and implement this into how I am acting. Besides, she hates me and wants me gone because of the things I’ve done since or relationship started. Just because I am loyal, honest, not abusive loving and caring and do everything I can to make her happy doesn’t mean that I am a good guy. I realize it now and I just hope it’s not to late. I’m going to do what you say I should be doing and hope that it works. It’s hard hearing how much she doesn’t like me when I love her with all of my heart.
I’m going through separation now. It hurts because I’m the cause of a lot of the dysfunction my wife and I have gone through from the lies and manipulation to not sacrificing pillars of my toxic traits. I have a lot of work to do…thank you for this video, it will help bridge the gap in my marriage
@Deondre, hey there. I can relate. I paved a path for my wife to walk down for 22 years. Her "GAF" finally broke and we went through our own crisis. I had to do a TON of self reflection during that time. I knew I needed to change, but not for my wife, for me. One huge key is to understand why divorce and remarriage is sin and adultery worked for us! So the only option is to make it work! There is great reward for those who perceive and stay together. So if you can see the hell and turmoil that is involved in divorce and remarriage adultery, both of them will likely to find a way to make it work, and not entertain the horrible thought of "trading up" to another perfect match. IT DOES NOT WORK. Marriage is until death do you part.
That’s your opinion, close minded one at that! Let’s say the husband is abusing the wife or is a cheater. God has nothing to with that. Praying has nothing to do with that. To tell people remarriage is a sin is blasphemy!
That last item really resonated with me. Some days I feel like I'm making progress with him and then the next day I feel like he shuts down and I'm back to square one. This video was really helpful and calming. I know I have to keep my focus on what I can control which are my own emotions and stop trying to force anything else.

I am going through the same thing, because of all of my mistakes. I have hurt her so much, she cannot feel affection for me anymore. We just separated and I am destroyed. Having faith and going day by day, I pray to God that something or someone will touch her heart and make her reflect and give me another chance, a last chance at some point.

My wife and I have been seperated for a month while living in the same house and we are making some progress. I failed step one for the first month, but now I realize it is the best way to go about it. Steps 2-5 have been perfect and I know I can get my wife back.
She is so amazing. I love her so much and will do anything to become the man she deserves. Celebrating 30 days of sobriety and yes there is a correlation there.

Yes, it takes time to be the stronger person after being betrayed by your spouse. I am working on this & it does take time..patience. Life is not always easy but it is a learning experience. We are doing good & say I love yous. It will take time & nice gentle conversations are definitely the key.

You might want to take hint from the word separation. If it was intentional, you don’t get the fact that it’s pertains to the fact that either both parties feel a mutual intended separation or even one spouse. It implies the fact that they do not want to be around you anymore, to force the relationship to remain by mostly a lot of talk is prolonging the inevitable.

The waiting is very hard, how are you doing now? I have been waiting for my husband for almost a month and I can hardly function. I’m not getting much encouragement from him while he sorts his head out. He is so ashamed of what he did and even though I have forgiven him, he can’t forgive himself and that is blocking our progress. I don’t know how much longer I can put myself through this. At some point I’m going have to start helping myself rather than helping him.
