As much as I would love to see them live. I am happy they stuck to their word in honor of Bonzo. Jason has perfected his fathers style, but he will never be his father. Page and JPJ nailed it. It was a band that was performance/musician based. Can never be replicated.
I hate to tell you this. I saw them in nineteen seventy three at madison Square Garden. You didn't miss much, very disappointing, especially jimmy page. I think they're legend outlives their actual concerts. 😳 sorry man, go see Deep Purple live much better live only.
I agree, I’m sad I didn’t get to see them in concert, I was either to young or didn’t have transportation for far away. When I had a license & car, they didn’t come back to the states. I would have given up all the concerts I’ve seen, just to see them, but I too am glad they stuck to their decision.
Led Zeppelin are unique in that they are TRULY the only iconic band that had the exact same members from start to finish. The same 4 all the way. Even the Beatles had Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best. Think of any other iconic band, and they all had AT LEAST one roster change. Except Zeppelin. They are really special in that way
They were an acquired taste for me, it took me a long to “get” them. I always preferred The Who and just didn’t get why everyone liked LZ so much. Of course, now I understand. One my favorite bands of all time. Superb blues-rock meets the medieval period? Now that’s something special

Because to many bands and a popular convention holds that drummers are replaceable. Some are yes, Ringo Starr does the 4/4 beat and it might not be noticed if someone filled in for him at a Beatles gig. Bonzo took in so many unique directions and played TO the band not WITH the band. Bonham's inherent flourishes created sparks and dynamics that only Bonzo could replicate. You simply don't replace a drummer that plays as an equal in your band. A similar analogy is Rush without Neil Peart. Neil's sound and technique were as much Rush as Geddy and Alex. Same with Bonham. A different era, when drummers were allowed to be integral to the bands they were in. Today, that's not the case.

recently some dude told me that bonzo was an average drummer.. i told him im a decent drummer for 13 years and we cant cover zeppelin with my band because i cant play it.. he said i should stop playing if i cant play better than bonham after 13 years.. what he doesnt get is that plenty of people including me can play the same notes... very few can make them sound good and none can make em sound as good as bonzo did
When the three are together in an interview, I always see Robert uncomfortable being there. It shows me how much in his mind he has moved on from Zeppelin as a band. Jimmy dominated this interview. Zeppelin was his baby.

Intangibles...lots of them at every performance. Remarkable, and such uncomprehenseable and raw dynamic power. Awestruck faces wherever you turned, wondering to themselves "what am I seeing and hearing and experiencing, and will it ever happen again."

I love to listen to Robert Plant. Today I learned that it was Sandy Denney who sang the duet with him in “Battle of Evermore,” on Zeppelin 4. He talked about it in his “Digging Deep with Robert Plant” podcast. What a discovery! ♥️
Clearly Plant doesn't want to be there. The only time he says anything is to point out the synergy between Page Jones and Bonham on Achille's at Knebworth. No mention of himself feeling it too. Hard to imagine not wanting to be in Led Zeppelin but clearly Plant is and has been glad to be out and resents the lil tie he still has to have with it. I do admire the fact that they aren't out there hobbling and fumbling around flogging every last bit of cash from the Led Zep legacy. They definitely haven't tarnished it one bit and good for them!

It seems to me he is seething something extra, glaring at Matt. Are you not familiar the with allegations of Matt's infidelity and sexual violence that ended his career? I'm thinking Matt bragged about his exploits to them (he would think the salacious rumours about theirs were true) or made some jokes in poor taste. Robert's sense of chivalry is regularly under estimated, especially by guys....although it is possible that I am reading too much into his expression, lol

Deep purple were better then them in every aspect of music, zeppelin were more commercial and hippy and over rated. Page was a very rusty guitarist with full of live performances mistakes yet blackmore just the opposite,Blackmore matured and became refined like fine wine getting better with age. I do agree that zeppelin had good ideas and had creative process for writing catchy music but instrumentally they were not as good as people perceive them to be.
Meanwhile, Plant smirks and thinks, "that song is still shit." Stairway was and is Jimmy's piece. The solo was a snapshot of his muse on any given night and some nights he rolled very deep.
I love how Jimmy doesn't allow himself to get interrupted by journalists. He just keeps talking over them until they shut up.

Page was a very rusty guitarist with full of live performances mistakes yet blackmore just the opposite,Blackmore matured and became refined like fine wine getting better with age. I do agree that zeppelin had good ideas and had creative process for writing catchy music but instrumentally they were not as good as people perceive them to be.
