I get what you're saying here, but wouldn't that totally f'up Zeppelin?

Best comment ever
YOU GOT THAT SHIT RIGHT.
That won't happan, I don't like grace slick , she was a bit jelous , a bit, of course jelous.
Jonesy's burn kind of sums up what he's about, a quiet kind of power that sometimes people forget about.
Perceptive remark! He is indeed too often overlooked, yet he was the one that held everything together (in terms of the songs). They were remarkably tight considering the genre, and that’s due in large part to JPJ.
Word
JPJ was the most versatile musician in Led Zeppelin, mandolin, lap steel guitar, keyboards, bass, he is a maestro, the unsung, overlooked hero imo, Ramble On, Kashmir, and Fool in the Rain are just a few songs where his contributions shine...
The other two have bigger egos/more insecure
SXI96 no quarter
Don’t forget No Quarter and All My Love
@forza juventus "Greatest guitarist" I mean yeah he's probably up there but what about Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton?
the next guy Eric clapton cried in the corner when he first watched hendrix performance
"Thank you my friends...for finally remembering my phone number." We love you Jonesy, LOL.
Yes, we do
Always ❤️
What a great guy ❤❤!!
Sad they made him feel that way.
Bass, keys, mandolin. JPJ was at least three members of the band.
hueseph page actually sang backing vocals too (eg in thank you). Plus, he also played the theremin in whole lotta love, and the mandolin in battle of evermore
Thought it was Rob on harmonica?
👏🏽
Ayham Shaheed it was Robert
Z
JPJones is pure class. Even when roasting.
John Paul Jones is underrated as hell. Led Zeppelin would’ve never reached the height it has without Jonesy. Plant and Page made a band and toured the world together until the 2000s and left Jones to do his own thing. I love this band but I love how JPJ gave them a piece of his mind.
At this point...I don't believe he's underrated anymore. He used to be, I thought. But now people know he was bad assed.
The bass player in the No Quarter project was Plant's step son-in-law: The husband of his daughter. He played very well but not like the great John Paul Jones.
John Paul Jones is *_NOT_* underrated even remotely. What rock have you been living under???
"Jonesy?"
You know him on a personal level?
LOL !!!!!!
We can do that in the UK. Tuffers, Aggers, Jonesy. We're all best of mates.
Jone's sweet and short F* you to Plant and Page was pure Rock n' Roll, period. You don't play as a band anywhere without at least inviting all members. It is absolutely shameful.
The most polite and most painful way to not flip off but flip off two traitorous band mates lol
Tom Faron they are friends again now.
Jared Streuber i think it was mainly aimed towards plant though as page was always really close with Jones
they didnt play as zep
Zen - They didn’t play as Zeppelin.. Have you never seen any Page/Plant interviews? 🙄
JPJ was treated badly by the remaining guys. He was as big a part of Zep as any of them .
He made their sound
@@davenewman1970 with all due respect, no he didn’t. He added immensely to their sound. The whole vision was Jimmy pages though from the beginning.
@@billhorstkamp98 Not on their last album. Page was barely in the studio.
JPJ was an immense talent. Plant is such a goof and JP was so sloppy live it was embarrassing
How they always disregard Jonesy is shameful really. It seems like they think they could have done the same things with any other bass player, which is nonsense obviously. Not calling him for No Quarter was a shitty move. I mean, none would think they could do "a Zeppelin thing" without Plant or Page, but somehow JPJ seems replaceable, which is utter bollocks. And they even named the tour after the song that is possibly THE JPJ's song, No Quarter. If that's not a slap in the face I don't know what is.
Good for you Jonesy, for this comeback, a true rock'n'roll moment, and the guys totally deserved it.
+extenebrislux I only saw Led Zeppelin perform live one time in 1977 at the Oakland Coliseum at a day on the green. They were my favorite band. And for some reason all my friends talked about was how great Jimi Page and Robert Plant and John Bonham were and the other guy. Not much was said about John Paul Jones contributions to the music. I have been fortunate to see some great bands perform live in concert and I always like to analyze each member and check out out their individual performance. Frankly I was blown away by John Paul Jones and how important he was to the overall sound and texture of the music. I saw The Plant and Page tour years later and it was not even close to that sound.
Actually JPJ didn't want to attend the tour because the words No Quarter makes him feel sad about he was the first one who saw Bonzo's body n he doesn't want the group to be no quarter.
+Haruka Giotto I don't think that's right, Haruka.
Haruka Giotto That's not true because John did a refference about that on his induction speech
+extenebrislux he's benefiting from it now, for the copying of stairway to heaven riff trial they only called plant and page to the court and said jonesy is clean with all the accusations, but forreal he's an amazing bass player and he does need more recognition
Look at Plant's face after Jones makes his infamous "comment" at 6:30 which was obviously directed at the Page-Plant tour that excluded him. You can't blame Jones for feeling hurt or left out I mean, Bonham's dead and there are three left. If two go on tour, that is kind of rude. This probably wasn't the best venue for it but at least he was heard. Plant and Page both look pissed! They all look better and younger at the Kennedy Center 17 years later!
You can't blame Jones. He found out about the tour on TV, if I remember correctly.
Buzzmoogy - it would’ve been seen as a ‘Led Zep reunion’.. which that wasn’t what Plant/Page wanted.. Have you ever watched their interviews about that?? Apparently not..
greed
Plant didn't quite hear what JPJ said and asked Page. You can see Page say 'phone number' to Plant. Plant is not very gracious in his speech here. He clearly didn't want to be the spokesperson. Page always seems reluctant to take a lead with the media and JPJ clearly felt he was treated as though he wasn't a core member of the band. Jason Bonham's speech is the most touching and the most gracious on behalf of his father. I do understand Page's and Plant's reasons for not including JPJ in some of their projects. They didn't want it to be called or seen as a Led Zeppelin reunion or relaunch.
@@jayannakelley9051 Right, they had every right to be greedy and rude to JPJ. Then again, they have a history of not giving musical credit where credit is due don't they - or don't you know that they have been successfully sued by artists? Artists who proved that Page/Plant recorded many songs that consisted in part, or wholely , of songs, melodies and/or lyrics that already existed- in other words , were created by other artists before them - and then used by Page/Plant without permission nor credit?
I really hope JPJ knows that he is greatly appreciated and admired by the Zeppelin fans regardless of how the remaining two feel about him
Boy, Plant sure knows how to 'ramble on.'
Nice one
The audience must've been 'dazed and confused' after listening to his speech
Right?? At 4:01 Jones looks at his watch pointedly
AS I always say, he is a story teller
I can't explain it...wait, I think I did it wrong.
You are loved and respected by many, JPJ. You out-class them all.
'Thank you my friends for finally remembering my phone number' JPJ didn't just throw shade he threw a whole damn forest lol. 25 years on I bet Robert and Jimmy can still feel the burn from that comment 😂😂😂
@Chatsworth Osborne, Jr. I 100% agree.
Quite Beatle and zep
Well done JPJ.
If it wasn't for Jonesy Zep wouldn't have been zep... Such a fantastic well rounded musician!!! RIP BONZO
Plant & Page should be ashamed of themselves for not inviting John Paul Jones to the No Quarter Concert. How dare they playing LZII songs without him. Oh and by the way, Michael Lee is a complete genius.
Absolutely ... disgrace ... they did
.. if from avoiding to run LZ ... but the 2 were still playing Zep's songs.... not easy for JPJ ..for sure . ... He isn't somebody but ..... the most Special one !
The bass player in the No Quarter project was Plant's step son-in-law: The husband of his daughter. He played very well but not like the great John Paul Jones.
Jonesy was so much more important to the group than anyone will ever know (not even Robert and Jimmy know lol)
They _obviously do_ know. These are the same guys who decided to disband rather than continue without one of their members after his death. In fact, it's so obvious that the members of Led Zeppelin are quite rare in this regard.
Think first, _then_ say what you think. Things always work better that way.
Jimmy knows....he's talked about it
All members are important. That's why its a band and not an Individual. I have to agree that JPJ it's extremely talented.
Well bonham and page were just a little more important
@@tlcrocks3536 Words are easy to say & actions speak louder than words. Truth is, they turned their back on Jones.
So grateful I saw them not once but twice. 1974 and 1979. Led Zeppelin is everything rock n roll and growing up in the 1960s n 70s they were the soundtrack to our youth. Zeppelin still plays loudly in my home even being I'm in my 60s lol.
well, done Jones. "Thank you for remembering my phone number." heh. burn, burn, burn
Very well done, yes!! And what was the reply of Plant at 7:13? I cannot understand what he is saying.
That was a good burn. Kelso style...
@@VioletYT and before we swap numbers.....
@@markanthony1363 thanks
Elena Danailova - He said “we’ll exchange phone numbers later”.. Good on Plant.. otherwise it would have been seen as a ‘Led Zep reunion’..
Robert Plant mentioned Janis Joplin and The Doors. Great gesture! Incredible! Love you!
Led Zeppelin was 25% per member, without one the others didnt work so perfect as they did all together, perhaps a freak meeting of musicians that only happens once.
Politics in music is always going to happen unfortunately. But to bad mouth Led Zeppelin is pointless now, they where and always will be the greatest R&R band ever.
right on...
Anderson Cooper not really. He did all the production and all of the guitar work (solos, layering of guitar for riffs and motifs, that kinda stuff), and for the first three albums he wrote a lot of the music, but from then till the end,
Plant was put in charge of writing the lyrics. In some occasions, page was even helped with writing riffs by John Paul Jones
@@ayhamshaheed7740 Yup, John Paul Jones wrote the “Black Dog” riff!
I recall around 1969 hearing "Whole Lotta Love" on the radio. From that point forward Zeppelin was my premier band. So different, so killer loud, and so damn good. Just as Robert said.... those were some special times
John Paul ,,class act..
*jpj being sarcastic*
JPJ : 😎
Robert : 🙂🔥👏🏼
Jimmy : 😂👏🏼
They treated JPJ like shit. Doing "Page and Plant" shows with another bassist. I love Jimmy Page because he's the GOAT but most songs couldn't have been done without JPJ. Going to California, Dazed and Confused, What is and should never be, Stairway, The Rain Song, etc. But Jonsey said "fuck you, guys" in the nicest possible.
+Zepp Dude 33 Yes. Plant especially is a pompuus and long winded douche bag.
+JR in the 818 they never really gave Bonzo any credit either. I know some groups live and die with their guitarist and/or frontman (Queen) but JPJ and Bonzo did way more than required. Page was a selfish addict with Plant a self-righteous side piper.
+Zepp Dude 33 Exactly. A good example is Cream. Clapton was God, but Bruce and Baker held the rhythm together, just like Bonzo and JPJ.
+JR in the 818 I think it was just Clapton's soul-selling talent was why they were overlooked. They're kind of like middle children. They aren't really notice but they are the glue that holds the band together.
+Zepp Dude 33 Yes. Interesting that both lead guitarists were in the Yardbirds at different times.
Wow, this must have been back when the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame would ACTUALLY INDUCT "rock n roll" bands!
Greatest Band Ever- wish I had been old enough to know and seen them, but obsessed with them now....just mad awesome live shows that aren't seen anymore Idt and the music itself and well no band will ever surpass the genius that is Led Zeppelin!!!! Love all 4 of them!!
JPJ is secretly the greatest musician of all time, he’s an absolute genius
It must have broken JPJ's heart seeing Page and Plant play without him all those times. Finally some payback! lol
And he found out via a newspaper, how awful
So.......bad what was/were in their brains ... why only the 2 ?? .. and let JPJ being ....alone
They played without him because if they played with him it would be like Led Zeppelin reunion
@@tanapatpeemanee1230 They were being selfish and they suck!
@@hankmoody3285 It wasn't a excuse, that project could have be the name Page, Jones & Plant. The bass player in the No Quarter project was Plant's step son-in-law: The husband of his daughter. He played very well but not like the great John Paul Jones.
Peter Grant - is proud.
You, John Paul Jones, you’re a class act !
I simply LOVED what JPJ said. Yes, Mr Page, Mr Plant, Jonesy helped MAKE Zeppelin it is and was.
Many rock and roll bands had members who weren't exactly the most decent human beings. But what should be remembered is the incredible music they made that touched people's hearts. I for one will always have a special place in my heart for the beautiful songs of Led Zeppelin, which have brought me immeasurable joy over the years. I think that is what we should remember here, the good times, although I suppose there were some bad as well.. ;) cheers everyone.
I think Plant & Page needed some burn creme after Jonesy's clever retort.
John Paul Jones FTW
Survivor
*R.I.P John Bonzo Bonham*
Plant's face after Jonesy leaves stage is just amazing. He's totally not feeling it!
6:19 for that awesome jonesy BURN
Gah, I love this. They definitely deserve it. Long live Zeppelin music!
My Favorite all time Rock band.
Their music has created so many memories for me in my life.
Really really good memories and good feelings from listening to their music.
They always enhance any party or event or house party or Poker game.
Or Cleaning the house or workout, or beach trip, or camping trip. Or flight, or bus ride. Or just jamming at home alone.
They are just the all time best rock band I've ever listened too.
Jimmy Page: the only person who is too cool for the rock and roll hall of fame..i love it
Him and John Paul jones were the true genius behind it all. Plant was the attitude of the band and bonham the beat, but the soul and rhythm was Jimmy and the genius and style was jpj.
Four men had rare, prominent talent, skills and passion to rock n roll. ALL OF THEM were equivalent. But some people and mass media who don't know it don't treat them as equal. It's so stupid that regard Led Zeppelin as Robert &Jimmy's band, just like Beatles as John&Paul's
Nice to see Jonsey stand up for himself. I don't think he ever wanted the attention that the other two got but I do think he expected more respect and consideration than they obviously seemed to give him.
You are awesome Jonesy and true Zeppelin fans know it!
Jason Bonham gave me the feels on this one. Whenever a band is inducted after having lost a member like that, it really resonates with me.
Jason in this year looks like his dad with blonde hair
One of the best well deserved hall of famers of all time!!! To me they're the best band EVER!!!!!!
I agree.. and Pink Floyd
You cannot take away the raw but natural talent of Jimmy Page. He is the benchmark, he is the foundation, and his is the keeper of the rules for all legendary string men. However, many of those younger than 55-60 may not understand how talented John Paul Jones actually is. When Page and Jones sat down as composers, it was like Johann Bach meets Ludwig van Beethoven. They were both musical masters with no limits and never settled for the traditional three cord, four piece band style. They never compromised with the changes, they invented the path and blazed the trail. A good in depth listen to No Quarter will educate many people as to the raw talent they have. Zeppelin survived the changes and never cared about following the crowd. When Disco hit, Zeppelin was number one. When Techno hit and industrial underground hit, Zeppelin was number one. And when Punk, New Wave and Rap was the new style, Zeppelin remained the benchmark. Led Zeppelins last show in 2007 Holds the record for the quickest sold out concert of all time. All 9 studio albums and their 4 live albums went Platinum and most Diamond. No band will ever come close to those numbers. I feel very fortunate to have been a teen growing up when Zeppelin hit the scene. And I feel even more fortunate to get to see them live in 1977, fourth row, center stage in Fort Worth Texas.
No Quarter was a one off progressive rock track in their entire pantheon. Pieces by Yes and King Crimson are more complex.
@@Napoleon4778 the studio version was relatively short. The live one was more an exercise in improvisation.
@@Napoleon4778The live versión of No Quarter no band could re duplicate.
Ehh...look man...I adore LZ and its musicians. But you might reconsider comparing them to the likes of Bach or Beethoven. Heck, those two would have never met. Perhaps Mozart and Beethoven...
But to compare their inventions and contributions that helped create the foundations of Western music with Led Zeppelin is a lot more than a stretch, my friend.
@@carlosesturain3831 - It was a metaphoric comparison, not reality. Time stamps would be immaterial at best. As far as the innovations, I consider the techniques used being copied by so many other band speak for itself. People said the same thing about the Mothersbaughs w/ DEVO; just to find out how genius they were.
John Paul Jones. Forever a God!
A man.
@@buffprayingmantis2739 An accomplished man.
Lol JPJ is the best
Nice little jab by the unsung hero, Jonesy, in regards to the Page/Plant tour and album. Glad they made up for it in 2007.
06:32 Kelso says: "BUUURRRRRNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Thanks for my friends for finaly remember my phone number.": JPJ.
Jonesy is a humble man, he is the soul of Led Zeppelin.
love the fire JPJ just lit under Pagey and Percys ass LMFAO!!!!
John Paul Jones was the glue that held the group together up until John Bohnam's death.John Paul Jones was the heartbeat of Led Zeppelin 🎉🎉, RIP,John Paul Jones 🎉🎉
Although I'm grateful that JPJ say that to Plant and Jimmy, it is also make me sad to see They act like they hate each other. They need to treat JPJ better in the future. That man didn't get much recognition as much as Plant, Jimmy and Bonham and yet, His contribution to Led Zeppelin is beyond words.
I hope They get along when They behind the camera.
Poor show on Roberts part. JPJ and Jason pure class.
Love Jonesy
That's why I have always said the Lemon Song was so bad ass that it made me fall in love with my wife of 40 yrs and has given me two wonderful Son's!
Zep memories - cruising with Jimmy in his 63 Chevy, top down, Led Zeppelin 1 in the 8 track; Atlanta Pop Festival 1969; listening to Stairway To Heaven on headphones for the first time. Thanks guys!
The greatest and best musicians and artists and rock band ever.
Damn. Burned by Jonesy 🤣 They say you gotta watch out for the quiet ones 🤣
John Paul Jones is a doll!
Rambling on love it thanks for sharing ! ❤😀✌🌺
Led Zeppelin is life.
John Paul Jones is my favorite Led Zeppelin member. Led Zeppelin is my favorite band God bless them thank you Led Zeppelin
JPJ lmfao!! but seriously, that's how much he cares about making music with the leds!
"Before we swap phone numbers". Robert just couldn't be a good sport about it, had to have the last word.
Quel ego !
I was listening to some live zeppelin other than The Song Remains The Same, and hearing Robert address the crowd seems very cocky, interviews as well.
@@asiasmaster You've noticed? He's the self-proclaimed "Golden God" of 70's rock. For all his charm he's still has a rock star huge ego.
John Paul Jones would be an asset to any rock band. A humble team player who is an enourmous talent in his own right.
LED ZEPPELIN IS THE GREATEST BAND TO EVER WALK THE FACE OF THE EARTH
"Thanks my friends for finally remembering my phone number." - John Paul Jones
Yeah, JPJ should've been part of the Page & Plant project of the mid 90s, no doubt.
it took 15 years to get led zeppelin into the rock n roll hall of fame and they extremely deserve it the number 1 ultimate reality
You can't get in until 25 years after your first album was released. Zeppelin I came out in 1969, they were selected in 1994 and this event was held in 1995, so they actually got in as soon as they could.
3:53 Plant just HAD to get in a putdown of JPJ. ...who then pointedly looks at his watch like "quit rambling you pompous old windbag"
+Caroline Martin They love each other like brothers. That's what brothers do.
Bullshit!! Plant has made it crystal clear in interviews that he despised Jonesy
Plant and Page were douchebags for not including John Paul Jones in Unledded, his bass riffs are legendary to the sound of Led Zeppelin, it was a bullshit move, nevertheless they are all incredibly talented musicians
Even today, whenever there is talks to reunite Led Zeppelin it’s always Plant that doesn’t want to do it
He wrote the riff to Black Dog for starters!
People let me tell ya something, JPJ was by the the most talented musician in Zeppelin. If you really pay attention to the music you'll soon understand that it was Jonsey that kept it all together. With out JPJ, you have no Zeppelin. Period. End of story.
Yea. Listen to Jimmy Page's solo work afterwards. Just doesn't have the same complexity.
@@jacobshirley3457 Interesting fact, but irrelevant.
yes
None of them would have been as good on their own. Page was the initiator of the band, the planner, an ideas man and a superb guitarist, Plant was the voice and the harmonica and the lyricist for many songs, JPJ was a versatile rhythm man on bass and keyboards and John Bonham was the extraordinary drummer and they were all capable of improvising with each other on stage every night so that no live version of their songs was exactly the same from night to night.
Without the Golden God Robert Plant they wouldn't have been anything!!!🤔💋🔥😘❤
Not quite as entertaining as Steve Miller's honesty about the whole Hall of Fame thing, but still, thumbs up to Jones for digggin' deep in a seemingly half joking manner.
The words of John Paul Jones about the phone number is one of the biggest moments in the Hall Of Fame Ceremonies history, and Robert Plant didn't loves his joke. 🤣🤣🤣
oh the burn XD yes savage jonesy savage
jonesy is badass
I Love Led Zeppelin 🎸🥁🎹🎤
Legends Of The Rock & Roll !!💯✌️😎
God, why does Robert Plant keep rambling on in the beginning? He's just opening his mouth and saying the first stuff that comes into his head calling it a "speech". He must love to hear himself talk

His so called "cuteness" wore off at the age of 30 but he still think he looks good

As much as I love Robert and Jimmy and still consider them to be 100% the most iconic duo in rock, the disregard I have the for them in 90’s is undoubtedly the worst.
The way they fucked over jonsey, the way they did was awful.
So pleased he had the balls to get that shot in. It wasn’t petty at all. It was 100% justified.

Well said Jonesy!!
He was a great musician and contributed so much to Zeppelin! How could they leave him out!!! He was very restrained, he could have said a lot more!!

So true ❤

They'll never be another Zeppelin
John Paul Jones is clearly furious with the other two, and that's how an Englishman expresses it: acidic sarcasm.
You saw it for yourselves.
Marvellous.
They were never the same after September 1980.
Sure. Because they split up that December.
Yeah… the band broke up what about it? Why would they be the same?
@@THEBACKROOMSEXPLORER7 I’m literally just referring to the fact bonzos death was tragic
Plant and Page were very close and the same can be said for Bonham and Jonesy. I think a few people overlook how heartbreaking Bonham’s alcoholism would be for John Paul Jones to witness and to see his best friend slowly fading away. Bonham could be described as boisterous and hot tempered, but he always protected Jones. You can tell that John Paul always felt safe around him by the way he stays next to the drum kit at every concert or live performance. We seem to value Plant and Page’s friendship and bond, but not many notice JPJ’s and Bonham’s. How heartbreaking it must’ve been to find your best friend dead. Imagine what Bonham would’ve said about the way Plant and Page are treating John Paul today!
John Bonham was Robert's best mate, they played together since they were 16. Jones also made up with Page and Plant so theres no bad blood between them.
Early in the 1970’s when I was 10 and my friend’s brother wasn’t home we would sneak his LPs and listen to Led Zeppelin and play pool. First concert I attended was Herman’s Hermits at Knotts Berry Farm in Southern, California. I wish my parents had taken me to Zeppelin concert instead. When I was in 8th grade we were silk screening Led Zeppelin t-shirts in shop class and making our own “fan merch” since we weren’t old enough to attend a concert. I remember reading about John Bonham’s desth in the newspaper, so sad and untimely. Still the best band so innovative. Nothing like a road trip playing Led Zeppelin. Your “sounds caress my ears”.
I was sitting with Jerry Miller and a few others when this was played on HBO (I think)... in 1995... and he just kinda chuckled.
Yeah the Jerry Miller. Guitarist and singer from Moby Grape ! (Clapton's favorite guitarist).
