- Backstage at the beginning of Led Zeppelin 1975 European tour, Robert Plant gives a one-on-one interview with Bob Harris of the BBC. The Led Zeppelin lead vocalist talks about their new record label Swan Song, upcoming film and double album Physical Graffiti. Additional footage here is not included on the Led Zeppelin 2003 DVD.

He does! Eloquent speaker. Lovely man too. Recent went to MAS BOX showcase at Kidderminster College, UK. He didn't participate in the show, that was Kevin Gammond baby! But Robert was sat just behind us!! And it was awesome. Afterwards, we went to the Beer Emporium and spoke across the table.

Saw him n Page on their tour in 93 or 94,,,the plant n page album, first one, think it was only one. GREAT SHOW!!! Saw him speak about 3 yrs. ago to the late great Charlie Rose ...yes, he still speaks with the same rhythms...cant think of another word to use. Aside from that, he left it as no more tours likely, cause simply too old. To record, yes. Touring n shows another thing altogether. I MISS CHARLIE ROSE. STFW...SHIT HAPPENS. FUCK THIS METOO CRAP, ITS HAPPENED TO MOST WOMEN BY THE AGE OF 30, SO YOU LEARN TO DEAL WITH IT!!!!

I don’t know much about him as a person but I am obsessed with his voice. The most intoxicating vocals I’ve ever heard.
The impression seems to be that he's actually a very kind and easy to get along with fellow. I remember speaking with a classmate in high school back in the 70s. Her parents were visiting the UK and they went for a drive to the country. They were walking around and this long-haired fellow was walking along a fence line toward them and said hello to them. He asked them if they would like to come to his place to have some tea. Turns out it was Robert Plant and they had no idea who he was. Apparently he was a very kind host.
Check out one of their first interviews in America. I believe the year was 1970 ,& as a matter of fact, it was the day after Jimi Hendrix died, at one point one of the dumbass interviewers asks Jimmy Page a question about the Beatles which, although Page tried to answer honestly, it did come out kinda wrong. Robert recognized right away the situation & interjected & paid the Beatles a great compliment. He is, in addition to being greatly talented musically, a very, very intelligent man. Was actually set to become an accountant if music didn't work out believe it or not! Such gifts.

They broke up because of his death, the band wouldn’t be the same without Bonzo, they loved him and they loved each other
There was no replacing of anyone in Led Zeppelin. Deep Purple could do it and Black Sabbath to a lesser degree, but Zeppelin was too much of a musical family.

I've watched so many interviews by big rock stars that can't even form a sentence and I was fairly disappointed. But Robert doesn't disappoint in any way.

Every interview I've seen with Robert Plant shows him as being really nice and pleasant.
I can agree with you to an extent. I don't know why, but Robert during the 90s, particularly during the Plant/Page era was an egomaniac. The sparkle in his eyes that we see in this interview here was gone during the interviews in the 90s. He also talked trash about Jonesy and was most definitely jealous of the Page/Coverdale collaboration which took place around the late 80s-early 90s. Very unfortunate, I must say. I think he has definitely mellowed out a bit since the 90s though.

The 1970s were definitely the golden decade of rock. Back then we had gorgeous and yet natural looking men and women who were immensely talented musicians that played real instruments and/or were exceptional vocalists who belted their hearts out. And the best songs ever written. It is called "classic" rock for a reason.

What I absolutely love about Robert is how sincerely he's engaged in this interview. You can see how well he's listening and he's not full of ego. He's laid back and just being in the moment. He was still such a showman, but not insincerely. I think the whole band worked well that way. There was always respect and just being in the moment. To me, with Zeppelin it was always about the music and being creative. They never let ego lead them into something contrived or plastic and fabricated...Amazing interview on all levels, thank you very much for sharing this They were Gods.

He's what...27 years old when he did this interview? Hard to believe. He's so articulate, confident and thoughtful as well as respectful of the guy doing the interview. He comes across as a total gentlemen and wise beyond his years, but then there's that impish smile...and you know he's up to no good, having a pint or two with Bonzo, banging groupies, and just doing crazy stuff in Chateau Marmont. Man, the crazy stories this guy could tell and yet...he's a true troubadour in the old sense of the word, looking for new ways of singing, traveling everywhere, looking for inspiration....

What I love about this interview is how evident it was that Robert enjoyed the other members of the band and appreciated their skill so much he couldn't imagine going to do a solo effort and playing without them. Really speaks to the impact of Bonzo's death a few years later...as it meant it was no longer the four of them.
