      Ronald Macafee that’s a very good point. However, just because it’s never happened to you, doesn’t mean it never will. If you’ve heard of stories of other encounters, then the probability of it eventually happening is possible, and you should therefore practice preventative measures based on those stories. But realistically, yeah, if it’s never happened in twenty years, you most likely won’t be as prepared. Similar to small town police not being as prepared or equipped to handle a mass murder as a major city like LA.

      lang 1007 I promise you I went to paramedic school in 1980, and I would have found something even someone tight grip might work, you all can second guess all you want but I think her injuries were just to fatal, a female body has about 12 to 14 pints of blood and if you are not in that GOLDEN hour, it’s hard to save some with no medical equipment, sound like she needed mast trousers, I.v. Fluid just to start. Golden hour, if you are young and have a horrible car accident usually a life flight crew can save you, but it’s that golden hour, you must be repaired quickly, thank god for these very talented people. You are more likely to both get struck by lightning or win the lottery than you are to get bitten by a shark. That’s a statistical fact.

If I recall correctly, when that child got killed by the gator in the Disney resort in Florida, the parents fought for their child in spite of the danger to themselves. There was also that women who got out of her car during one of those drive-thru safari type parks, and a tiger ran up and dragged her off, but her husband and her mother who were both in the car, got out and ran over to save her. Her mother was killed by another tiger that was there, but the rangers saved the girl and her husband in time. We asked about going in the water & about sharks. He told us that the cruise ships ( we came on one) and ALL & EVERY tour ATTRACTIONS DENY that sharks are in the waters. He said and I quote "We got sharks- they bite you". We went to Coco Key Island walked in very ankle deep water we could see only. We also looked at booklets for tours for boating; diving; snorlking; listened to people talking about tours...no one mentioned sharks. And I am betting no one will. Oh my gosh! Everyone 's worst nightmare! I went on a glass bottom boat excursion in the Bahamas and snorkeling was optional. I masked up and got into the water. I was only in for minutes, when I decided to get out. I felt anxious and some anxiety about possible sharks. There were 2 brothers ages 11and12 snorkeling as their parents watched. They were getting kinda far from the boat; I was praying nothing was going to happen and so relieved when everyone got back in the boat. I've never swam in the ocean after that day. I am a certified diver, and will only go in lakes.

    Honestly this is one of the most devastating tragedies that could ever happen to any one person. You are at the mercy of those shark when you’re in their home/territory. So sorry for this loss and this family. 💔 May this girl Rest In Peace. I firmly believe that activities like this need to be banned unless you go down into the ocean with trained and safety certified scuba divers and you’re in a cage to be able to see the ocean life under water but aren’t completely vulnerable in it having zero protection from an attack.

      I agree 101persent right if those rules would be made this instant then we are saving lives on that note there should be some serious planning needs to be in actioñ so this kind of trauma. does not take another life they need to do some serious homework starting their plans people need also to be notified so divers and swimmers will have to adhere these rules we do not want to be spectators of horrible scenes and tradgedies to be on the News or Media

    • @BelieveMontana
      @BelieveMontana 2 роки тому +11

      I disagree. You can't eliminate the risk by banning it. That just won't work. It's a calculated risk every time you get into the water, one that you implicitly accept. The same goes for hiking in bear country, or getting behind the wheel to drive a car. Life is about risk, and it's all a numbers game. Terrible things happen all the time, but we can't ban the activities that lead to that. We can just be aware and mitigate risks where possible. If that boat had had a tourniquet, she might still be here to tell her story, albeit missing 2 limbs. I understand your sentiment, but a ban would do nothing. The company should have been prepared for something like this.
