At first I was like “I’m not going to immediately judge these owners” but once he said they didn’t even pay her for the stay nor offer any medical help and haven’t even spoken to her since the day of the stay.....those owners deserve jail time and to be put on a registry to keep them from owning a pet again.

Pet owners, please understand your pets can have a totally different personality when you are there vs when you are gone. I can’t believe how much likes and replies I have under my comment. I’m also surprised and not surprised from the comments lol. I train all new techs in my hospital and I only have 1 rule: 1. Human safety comes first then come the pets. I’m not gonna risk my safety for your pets comfort… sorry.
For real. I work in a dog daycare and boarding facility so I've only ever been bitten on purpose once, and I definitely saw it coming. A dog tried to escape it's kennel and without thinking I tried hooking my hands around his thighs to slow him down enough to get a lead on him. He was already acting pretty nervous that day so he got scared and whipped around and bit my hand once. I absolutely deserved it. It's not like he could have gone anywhere, it was just in the facility, I should have let him go and then caught up with him to try to calm him down. He's a super sweet dog and we're still buddies, it's just important to pay attention. Very rarely will animals freak out like that without warning.
Especially when there’s children in the home! Also, why on earth would they hire a stranger to come into their home to dog sit if they even had an inkling of suspicion their dogs could get aggressive around strangers?! So irresponsible. Smh
I just am awed by Jacqueline❤. But stunned that those 2 dogs were not 🔫 so they could get to her quicker❗❗😤 I love animals! But 37 minutes plus what she had already been thru is NOT ok!!
No apology after what she’s been through and didn’t even pay her. What a sorry excuse for a couple. They absolutely need to be held accountable in every way possible for this. Their lack of care shows they deserve no mercy in being charged and ordered to pay her for the lifetime care she will need. She’s such a beautiful soul and never deserved this. I pray for her recovery.
Exactly!! It's disgusting they couldn't be bothered to extend any kind of apology. Even if they felt it was a futile gesture. Then again, these are the same people who knew their dogs were capable of being aggressive. Pieces of sht.
If my dog did something like this I’d shoot it myself, and do everything in my power to help this girl out for the rest of her life. Even better, I would never own a breed of dog that’s widely known for snapping without warning and being dangerous to people. Some dog owners out there are absolute sociopaths who put their animals above human lives I’m sad to say.
its so insane to think they havent paid her for the dog sitting... they should be paying for every surgery she gets. i also dont believe they didnt know their dogs are dangerous to strangers, the sign on the door and just how vicious this attack was shows that the dogs werent fighting because they were scared but just wanted blood.
While the owners actions may seem inconsiderate, I think they are probably avoiding all contact out of legal reasons. For all we know, the owners may have contacted a lawyer in preparation for any law suits or criminal charges that may come of this. If I were in their shoes, I’d keep my mouth shut and not say anything even and apology. Because anything they say or do could affect them in the courtroom.
@@alexandertheresurrection2810 I agree that it is wise to not speak with her directly. But since we know there will be a lawsuit. It would actually work in their favor to extend, either through their attorney (or whatever impersonal payment method they used before (Zelle or cash app or whatever)) to at least pay her. It kind of helps mitigate the idea that they are careless and negligent if they volunteer the money that they at least owed her for the day. Not anything beyond that just what she was to be paid. This is a gruesome attack and although you don’t want to admit “guilt” you definitely want your defense attorney to get up and say; “they feel terrible about this.” Maybe even draw up and offer a settlement instead of making her go through this whole legal process. Sure it’s going to cost a lot over time but I mean it’s their fault. So they should be ready to humbly negotiate, don’t ya think?
@@liberatedlife9676 I agree. Plus assuming if these owners even have home owners insurance (good luck finding any insurance company that accept you with a pitbull) they are probably shitting bricks right now at just how much this situation is gonna cost them.

Obviously hard to watch, but the ending hit me like a ton of bricks when the reporter said that the dog owners haven’t reached out to her not one time and haven’t even paid her in full for the night of dog sitting. That is mind blowing to me. They must be real pieces of work.

And the fact that the owners didn't even reach out and apologize to her really makes the whole situation even more suspicious because if you claim that you've never had a single issue with either one of those dogs and that they weren't aggressive or anything like that the first thing you would be doing is reaching out to that person and letting them know how sorry you are and paying them for their services. @@johncallof8839 , I'm sorry, but you're quite wrong. In general, like with District of Columbia (444 A.2d 1, D.C. Ct. of Ap. 1981)., it has been found that legally police are under no required duty to assist anyone. This is especially true when you look at the public duty to rescue tort concept that in the US has a specific exceptions in regard to the rescuer not being required to endanger themselves. All that needs to be done, by those with a public duty are a reasonable effort, which pretty much never includes a required deliberate endangerment of themselves.
@@johncallof8839 , logically, this makes sense. Self preservation is not a priority, it is a fundamental right. You can't force someone, just because they've taken up the job, to put themselves at risk beyond what they judge as an immediate danger to their own life. This is at least within the civilian sphere. Military doctrine becomes more complex, since a soldiers job is more directly related to endangerment. Though, there are still rules that govern that as well.

The lack of awareness that some dog owners have is just plain frightening... Years ago at a picnic, I saw a german shepherd puppy (NOT on a leash) attack a toddler mere moments after the owner said "oh don't worry he just likes to play." ....absolute morons some of these people are.
i saw a Pitbull loose not on a leash that had ran away im guessing or owners let him out to pee and he took off.. he ended up at my job parking lot just running around. i didnt dare to exit my vehicle.. and i saw him yesterday and the same thing happened. obvi owners cant control him and dont even attempt to ..theres a trailer park up the road where its coming from
LOTS of these people are! I've trained Shepherds for 40 years. It takes commitment, consistency, and you have to be at least as smart as the dog to do it correctly. It's staggering how few people nowadays lack all 3 of those attributes. You can just look at the way the majority of children act in the present day to realize this, never mind animals. Kids and pets are both being done a GREAT disservice by people who create monsters with their ignorance.
my dog is extremely friendly (i mean that genuinely in her whole nine years of living shes never hurt anyone apart from play bites when she was a puppy) but shes big so when i see her go to kids (especially little ones) i take her away from them, i dont know what that owner was thinking
The Beauty of her spirit far outweighs the damage to her face. What a miracle she is. I just cried for her so hard. She has an amazing support system. My heart just aches for her. What pain she has gone through and will have to continue for the rest of her life. So sad.

I know a lot of people would look at her poorly, when she deserves the world. She's so incredibly strong, and treated so poorly by the owners of those dogs.
A lot of people would find it hard to look at her, just even because it hurts to see what happened to this kind and gentle young woman. She didn't deserve this. My heart hurts for her.

I have been a professional pet sitter for 32 years and I can't begin to tell you the impact Jacqueline's story has had throughout the pet sitting world. A lot of us are re-evaluating how we conduct meet and greets, how we enter homes and many of us are thinking back at times that we could have been in the same kind of trouble but we were just luckier. Although pet sitting is typically not considered to be a high risk job what happened to Jacqueline shows that a pet sitter should always be on guard and that a situation can change in a flash. So please, whether you're a professional sitter or taking care of a neighbor's dog across the street, always be careful. For those of you who hire professional sitters to care for whatever pets you may have please appreciate them because they work hard for you.
Agreed. I was a dog sitter for many years and felt pretty confident in my knowledge of dog behavior (many young pet sitters truly dont know enough about dog behavior to be pet sitting) but there only 1 dog that I actually got scared of. I did not like his vibes from the beginning. He was a GSD mix. But he was "okay" and he was toy motivated so we would go out and play fetch in the yard. Then he started getting very possessive of his crate. He would willingly go back into his crate but I would go to close it and he lunged and tried to attack me as I was closing the door. Obviously shook me up and I let the owner know and we had another meet and greet again with the owner present and when I went to open the back door to show our routine, he nipped at my hand when I reached for the door. I was smart enough to know at that point, nope, I was not risking myself for a measly $15 or w/e it was. But I think of how many times I went there alone prior, and god forbid something had happened.... I guess i was just lucky.
@Marie Bussinger: What in the world kind or type of dog does not chase rabbits, or at least want to? I’ve had many dogs and growing up in the country, I have yet to meet one dog that would not gladly chase rabbits or squirrels at the drop of a hat! That is in their nature. The point is, if you don’t want them to take off chasing other animals, either train them well, keep them on a leash or inside a fence.
@@salyluz6535 I've owned plenty of dogs that don't chase rabbits. I've also seen plenty of dogs owned by other people that don't chase rabbits. I've also seen dogs who do chase rabbits who immediately ignore the rabbit completely once their owner says to leave it because they've been properly trained.
Don't watch shitbulls; they're an unstable breed with lots of brute power and once they've snapped, there's nothing that will get them off of you until you're shredded.
These dog owners need to be held accountable! That young woman's life has changed forever. She has years of surgeries, pain and suffering, and probably millions of dollars of hosp/Dr. bills ahead.
Just Google police officers shoots dog and you'll see literally hundreds of stories every single year of a police officer shooting a dog when they shouldn't have but now they should have and they don't?
I agree, it was the dogs’ faults but negligence of the owners for having allowed dogs (that they clearly know react to every day situations) to be left alone with a girl who looks like she weighs less than the weight of just one dog. I want them to be sued for her constructive surgeries and therapy costs. They have two aggressive dog breeds. (And before anyone attacks me, most countries list them as such. And not because of some wives tale or stereotype) these dogs get aggressive if they aren’t trained or are carelessly bred. They should have taken the time to train these dogs properly and ensure that they could be left alone. It’s all just negligence on their end. And the fact they couldn’t even pay this young woman the fee for her services is plain scummy.
As a dog rescuer, I am horrified by the owners who put this young lady in such danger. It is not unusual for dogs to act different when the owners are absent. It is appalling the owners haven't even paid her for pet sitting
The male owner sitting there being questioned, saying only "No." over and over (from what we saw), does not scream "heartbroken" -- Not in voice or facial expression. He was concerned with himself and him alone; I.E., money. What about _her?_ It really is so very sad. Such a lovely young woman, *still.*
@@PristineBiscuit I agree this should have never happened to the nice young lady who loved dogs. I think a lawsuit is in order. I would sue if I were her.

Typically covered by homeowners insurance. However for these type of costs unless the owner had umbrella coverage the homeowner will have to pay out of pocket. So sad this happened to her. No one should have to go through this.
I was attacked by a pit bull by owners that left their gate open- but nothing close to how terrible this girl was maimed. It could have been- but luckily the owners came outside in enough time to contain their dog and get it off of me. My lawyer is negotiating with their homeowners insurance for a settlement. This is horrible what happened to this poor woman. The owners should absolutely be held responsible to the utmost of the law. And I am horrified and furious that the officers let her lay there terrified, naked and bleeding for 37 minutes instead of shooting the dogs- or even using a stun gun. I do not understand that.
So sad seeing what that attack has done to that lovely young woman. She has the love and support of her boyfriend and her family and I feel that she will get better and carry on loving dogs. We can only imagine the pain she has gone through though. x

It is appalling that the dog owners haven’t paid her nor spoken to her since this attack. I would be begging for forgiveness from her the rest of my life, immediately put the dogs down and offer any financial and emotional support I could. What’s really remarkable is the boyfriend stayed by her side and didn’t ditch her. You hear about that sort of thing a lot. You are both gems in this world. God bless in your healing journey.
Some dog owners have a weird sort of "white wolf" mentality towards their pet dogs that they know are problematic. They think their dogs are special and that makes them feel more connected with their dog instead of recognizing that the dog is dangerous. It's not out of the realm of possibility that the owners of the two dogs blame the victim in this case, since she entered their home and the dogs attacked, and now the owners are forced to put the dogs to sleep and they're being sued. Many people would acknowledge their negligence and do everything they could to help... but some people put up their defenses and choose to see themselves as the victims.
The couple should at least be forced to pay MORE than that young woman is owed. It also should be illegal to put an animal down that is not gravely ill/injured.
Aside from the obvious heartbreak of what happened to this young woman, it's just as heartbreaking that the owners haven't apologized or paid her in full. What kind of people do that? I wouldn't be able to lay my head down at night without checking on her situation and recovery 100 x a day and being as supportive as I could with her family. Thank God for her unconditional loving boyfriend. He is a beautiful example of what true love is.
@SonderDAze X If you don't have money to pay your dog sitter in full then you have no business hiring one in the first place AND they were on vacation so they had money to pay regardless of how many kids they have. GET REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you honestly think a girl sitting there with her face chewed off and body scarred from head to toe would lie about something like that???? Why would she ask for an apology if she already got one? You can't be that dense, can you?
Making it clear I’m not defending but giving a possible reason. Sometimes your attorney will advise you to not talk. As appalling it is in some areas apologizing is an admission of guilt. With 3 kids & whatnot I think this family is going off the instincts to protect their finances & home. That’s just my guess.
I’m sure they have a lawyer representing them who has instructed them to not communicate with the family directly. And knowing there will likely be a lawsuit, I can understand why they haven’t paid her yet. She’ll obviously be getting a lot more money than the original agreement. However, at the very least, they should offer an apology through the lawyer if they’re afraid to do it directly. Saying you’re heartbroken to law enforcement isn’t the same as a sincere direct apology to the victim.
These owners are pathetic. As a pet owner, you HAVE to know the temperament of your animals before allowing anyone to watch your pets. I love my dogs, but my youngest is extremely scared of people, and has the potential to become violent. While she isn’t large enough to tackle anyone, she could inflict some injury, so I only have people she knows well watch her. What people fail to understand is that, while pets are like our babies, they are still animals. They have the potential to act on their animalistic instinct, which is to attack. In this case, I believe the dogs were fearful because their owners were not around, and assumed that the pet sitter was an intruder. Violent defensive behavior in response to someone entering the home is something that should’ve been noted, and those dogs should’ve been either in cages or in an area where she could approach them safely. The fact that they didn’t apologize for their negligence shows their character. I blame the owners more than the dogs, because it’s 100% their responsibility to put the dogs up if they react aggressively to unfamiliar people. A one time meeting with owners present is NOT enough to determine whether a pet will do well with a sitter.
Yeah had a chihuahua for 13 years and i only let people who asked to pet him pet him as then I could get down on my knee and have more control over him as he was a aggressive little dog and especially with kids for some reason. I had this 1 time i came out of the store and this lady with her kids started screaming at me the police came and I told her to shut up and let me talk to the police that whas about to take my dog and simply said the mother there is irresponsible af and let her kid pet a dog tied to the wall outside a store not even waiting for the owner to ask if it is OK to pet the dog and I got her name and info and said i will report her to childservises for even trying to get my dog put down for her own mistakes. Great dog until people came from above and down to pet him and then he got defensive
Yes, I feel a bad knowing that these dogs will pay with their lives for the mistakes of their owners, I understand that they are a danger to society and no one will want to adopt a dog with a history of attack. But this could have been avoided, if the owners had trained the dogs, or better yet, they should have returned them for more docile and easy-to-train dogs. Like if they did this to an adult, I don't even want to imagine what they could have done to the kids, and they had this dogs along with children? All this could have been avoided, I think that's the saddest part.
@@spicynoodles2742 You can’t retrain traumatized dogs to not have trauma. That isn’t how that works. I don’t think they should’ve “returned” the dogs either, because adoption is always better and every dog deserves a home no matter how broken they are. What I’m saying is these people should’ve understood that their dogs aren’t always docile, and can be reactive. Most dogs have kind of a fight or flight response to fear, but since they are animals, their instinct is to use what they have for protection (teeth, claws). They should’ve been kept in a cage upon the sitter’s arrival so that she could come in, talk them down, and eventually let them out. People just need to understand that no matter what, a dog is a dog. Even if you buy a pure bred dog from a breeder for thousands, it doesn’t make the dog suddenly better. It’s still an animal, with the potential to become upset, and it’s up to the owners to recognize what causes the dog to become upset. The dogs aren’t the danger here, negligence by the owners is. This could’ve all been avoided if the owners had taken proper precautions.
@@cryingalone7572 I’d recommend not leaving your dog tied up outside, but that doesn’t justify the fact that the mother wasn’t watching her kid. What people fail to understand is that dogs can be sweet, but a dog that reacts out of fear isn’t a “bad” dog. If the dog doesn’t want to be touched, you don’t touch it. If it bites, it’s not the dog’s fault that you overstepped the clear boundary it’s trying to set and scared it. Dogs generally show signs of fear before reacting (backing away, showing teeth, barking) and some people really are just stupid enough to expect them to accept attention all the time. Every living creature needs space, and every living creature experiences emotions and fear. It baffles me that there are mothers like that who are so entitled that they blame the dog instead of their kid. She should’ve told the kids that they get what they get for petting the dog, and not to pet random dogs. Better than demonizing a dog for not being a toy for her kids to play with smh.
I hope for her complete recovery. My heart breaks for her. I too, was a dog sitter and was attacked by a huge german shepard it was the most horrifying time of my life.
Keeping stern with your pet is enough.
Especially when there’s children in the home! Also, why on earth would they hire a stranger to come into their home to dog sit if they even had an inkling of suspicion their dogs could get aggressive around strangers?! So irresponsible. Smh

Some dog owners out there are absolute sociopaths who put their animals above human lives I’m sad to say.
If something like this happened in Brazil, the owners of the dogs would be lynched by the people, they would need to flee the country.
its so insane to think they havent paid her for the dog sitting... they should be paying for every surgery she gets. i also dont believe they didnt know their dogs are dangerous to strangers, the sign on the door and just how vicious this attack was shows that the dogs werent fighting because they were scared but just wanted blood.
I am in complete shock that the owners didn't even bother to apologize or pay her in full. Jesus Christ what is WRONG with those people?

The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

In sickness & in health; how serious relationships should be but aren’t nowadays for most.
The word Cancer shouldn't ever scare anyone to the point of leaving their partner, my partner was diagnosed in 2020 with a very rare form of sinus cancer, so rare only 1 in a million chance of getting it and there have only been 532 cases in the last 75 years, the thought of him not being in my life scared me more then anything, I can't comprehend leaving someone at such a time, 2 years later, 30 sessions of chemo, 3 surgeries later, we are married and living life with him healthy and that is how we will continue to move forward, in a positive way, side by side. When you love someone, you love them through sickness and in health, good and bad. I wish both of them a lifetime of happiness and nothing but good wishes to come their way. May God bless them both.

Those dog owners knew what those dogs were capable of. The fact they have yet to apologize not to mention pay her for the work she provided which ultimately became a life altering situation says everything about the pet owners. They should’ve put them down as well.

Absolutely NO ONE ever IMAGINES their pets would do something like this. ESPECIALLY with 3 kids of their own......this was a tragic accident for everyone involved. They are not to blame. There are no answers. Just accusations and questions.

The owners of these dogs are the cowards to turn down to be interviewed. Instead of coming forward and acknowledging the fact that you can't have foreseen what these dogs were capable of.
Terrible experience for such a young girl. As a family with children it's a bit bizarre that the dog owners won't apologize. Whether they feel she is partly responsible in some way hardly matters. Decent humans would reach out to her I would think.

They should be in prison
Very cowardly display from the first responders. I think she deserves an apology from the owners as well as the first responders.
They do know. They don't want to take accountability for it.
I hope for her complete recovery. My heart breaks for her. I too, was a dog sitter and was attacked by a huge german shepard it was the most horrifying time of my life. The dog ripped my right radial nerve out of my arm, my arm, fingers were pierced along with my legs. It was so painful. After surgery and years of healing, im past it. I pray to GOD she continues to heal and be strong, and have hope. ONE DAY AT A TIME! I still love dogs. It was the OWNERS FAULT. SHE CAN SUE THEIR HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE, to pay for all her surgeries.
Oh Debby, I am SO sorry. I'm a pet sitter, too. Praying for your continued peace and healing. 🙏❤️
I wish you all the best for future Debbie. May God bless you 🙏
I got bit my a German step too as a kid and all I did was pet it.
I don’t really enjoy dogs all like that anymore lol
@@FatalxCrylixYT Thank you.
I am so sorry that happened to you ! God bless you stay strong !
I truly CANNOT even begin to imagine having her attitude after something like that. And her dream is to become a dog trainer?! Amazing. And I truly hope she realizes that dream and every other goal she sets for herself. She’s an incredibly special soul.
She will! She’s a child of God. And he will heal her. And he will guide the surgeons hands to give her a beautiful face. In time she will live all her dreams. With a big smile. And a beautiful face.
She has such a strong mind and attitude I can't imagine how she'd want to be a dog trainer after what happened to her, she's a very strong person!
In her instragram video, she did say there's one dog breed she will not work with.
Like WTF? That youTube video shows an initial timestamp of 17:44. You can see the dog aggressively come out the house. At 18:08 the police are calling for her "mam can you hear me?" 37 mins before the cops went in because they felt unsafe. Cowards that will shoot a human no problem but say they were fearful so they let this poor girl get mauled.
Right! I couldn’t put it together until your post. 37 minutes? You mean to tell me they were scared of the dogs? These are trained law enforcement individuals. They must know what a violent dog looks like. They will shoot a human being like you said, without a second thought and, be proud of it even if they are guilty, but, in this case it’s just everyone is negligent and I say abusive. 37 minutes! Ridiculous that they’re so quick to anyone or give us feeding ticket if you’re going 5 miles over the speed limit with a car that isn’t up to power with society standards
She’s a tough cookie. What an amazing human being her parents must be a great couple with excellent parenting skills! Blessings to you all
Lol
I hope she wins the lawsuit. God bless her. I wish her a fast recovery.
aint no hope, she will def win this suit.
I hope she sues the clothes off their backs
I want those dogs put on display in the public square and beaten hourly till they die of exhaustion. (Yes, extreme but oh well, better than just having them put down peacefully)
@@saam3712 you see that's also kinda messed up..😬 there's no need for that. Just put them down quickly. It's the owner's fault for not properly training them
@@shelbys6918 it’s the breeder’s fault and all the idiots who support pit bulls as pets. You saw all the blood on the pit bull and very little on the other dog
She’s honestly a hero. Not only an incredibly strong survivor to say the least. She saved a child’s life.
To keep a toddler in a home with aggressive rescues is one thing, but for that family to not even acknowledge and realized they could have been burying the body of an innocent baby and than to ignore her after all this is despicable.
God bless this sweet woman on her recovery.
Agree,SandraC- it is worse than despicable
Sorry to say this, but I would not be willing to pay such a price for someone else's child. I wish her all the best and that she recovers as well as possible from this terrible event. She has such beautiful eyes and a great character, I think life will still have a lot of beautiful things in store for her.
@@bintagmina3755 It’s clear from the story she didn’t expect this to happen to her. Its horrific and unspeakable.
But I felt the family should recognize that she could have possibly saved a child’s life. For a 3 year old to live in that home, who’s normal toddler behavior could be erratic and unpredictable to those dogs; the dogs certainly would react.
She is an amazing woman to have gone through that and have the kinda spirit she does through this tragedy
She unknowingly could have saved a child’s life. The dog owners should have seen that and have been grateful to her, not ignore her.
@@sandracolon3561 Only unfortunately, she doesn't have any of that. Instead of the parents being grateful to her for *eventually* saving their child, I would have been grateful to the parents if they had warned me about their crazy psycho dogs. I mean no offense, and yes, of course the woman is very brave, etc. But this "being a hero" I find perfidious. As if the health of this woman was worth less than the life of another child. And whether the child is so safe with parents, who so immoderately misjudge the animals with which they live under one roof remains questionable.

Oh, the ever so common phrase said so many times from dog owners:
“My dog has never acted like that before”.
.. until its too late and it’s your child.
