I know the light frame with dark drawers isn't your jam, but it is SO art deco! The light butternut wood looks like gold against the dark drawers, which is such an iconic art deco look. Lovely work!

I do a lot of full restorations but sometimes a bit of paint on lesser quality wood (and especially plastic laminate coated wood, or Formica) can keep something structurally sound from being tossed just because it’s a bit rough or dated cosmetically. But I like to restore certain woods whenever possible. 🙂

I know nothing about woodworking or refinishing. All I do is paint a few pieces of furniture for my own home, and I happened on your channel quite some time ago searching for videos to help me with that. Usually, when a video is showing a process that I know I could never accomplish, I just quit watching, but I'm always mesmerized by your work, your knowledge, your everything--and I always watch all the way to the end. You put sooooo much work into this piece that I really wish I knew how much you sell it for.

    • @TranscendFurnitureGallery
      @TranscendFurnitureGallery  2 місяці тому

I actually list everything I sell on my instagram and FB page, but usually remove the prices once they do sell. Pricing varies wildly from town to town, across provinces, and country to country (not to mention exchange rates), and there's no real average price because of the condition of the pieces, and sometimes even how quickly I need to sell something. For those reasons, I don't normally mention in these videos what the sale prices are, but if you're following the instagram/fb pages, you can actually see the for sale posts come up with the selling prices (until they sell, that is). 😊

I’ve often thought that if I had a UA-cam channel I’d like do a “ Turd to Treasure” challenge. But then I’ve seen you do it now, what, 50 times so you’d just win it preemptively. My main mission in my business is to keep things out of the trash. Sometimes that means working on busted antiques and sometimes it means particle board crap. Lol A lot of it still has decades of use left.
If I can take something and modify it to be more desirable, it will get used, at least for a time. But in the meantime, hopefully that transformation will inspire other people to do the same. There are many amazing modern craftspeople doing phenomenal work. And I’m not saying I’d never try it… but my efforts are focussed elsewhere purposely. Hope that makes sense. 😊
I do plan to build bunny beds though!

I wonder if that was the original top for that piece. It looks slightly too small, with no overhanging lip. Also, the veneer on the top drawer is so different from the other two (and so not-special) that it seems possible that someone replaced new walnut veneer after damage, sometime in the past. I'm glad the drawer pulls survived, they're very unusual. Either way, you've given it back its dignity and a new life.

I really love the butternut against the walnut. It frames the piece so well. And adding the dark around the top is a wonderful contrast. Excellent save of a stinky piece. I would gladly put this in my home. 🥰❤👍

I was on the fence when you said you’d be doing light instead of dark on the trim but Angie it looks amazing! I was wrong! 😂love art deco pieces. If I was up there I’d want to buy that one from you. It truly is gorgeous.

Angie you've done it again - from rags to riches! It's stunning. I hope you'll send the video to the man who gave it to you. I'm sure he'd be fascinated watching the process and happy that you were the one who collected it from him :)

I don't usually but I got a feel from these guys that they'd like to see it so I sent a picture of it to their daughter and she's going to show her Mom and Dad. She's thrilled with what I did. 😊

I can’t imagine everyone NOT being impressed with your work. Your choice of pieces you refinish are so well done and I always feel you could envision the end product before you begin-even with a non aromatic specimen such as this one! 👏🏻👏🏻

Hello Angie, you have done it again!! Who would have thought this piece could look so good? I love the way you take old, ugly unwanted items and turn them into beautiful pieces that would grace any home. Some lucky person will treasure this for years to come. Thank you for a really enjoyable video.😀

I'm so glad you kept the butternut wood light! Butternut is being decimated by a blight, and it is increasingly rare. You did a beautiful job!

Over many years I've had these period pieces 30's-50's so i love what you do to save them. Thank you on behalf of mankind. The opposite color scheme works wonderfully, and it only takes one person to fall in love with it. Beautiful job.

I am so happy that you are concerned with the smell of old pieces. I too am sensitive to the smell of old things and appreciate your approach to this piece. It turned out amazing. Your choice of stain and color made it come back to life. Thanks for saving something old and giving it a second life. 😀

I love me some art deco furniture with a variety of brown tones! 💗 The brass accents on the drawer pulls add a touch of class. 😯

S T U N N I N G ! ! ! ! These pieces are SO dramatic and (as a Leo) I have to say I absolutely LOVE them. Angie, as always, you work your Magic (and amazing skill) ... and bring them back to life. This one was really knackered and you found the Elixir of Youth and revitalized the piece beyond recognition. "Zowie!!!"

Hi Angie, Another fabulous job. What a talent you are! I can't believe that trashy trash you brought home is the same piece of furniture it turned out to be!! The butternut/walnut and brass handles was a great combination thanks to you. I like the black striped edge also. Someone else said you brought the soul ofcthe furniture out. It's very good that smell-a-vision didn't become a reality; thank you Angie for taking the hit for us. As always God bless and take care from your long-time California subscriber 🙏 🤲
