  • On this episode of Praska Boy's Garage I rebuild a Chinese ATV for my 5 year old son. It was his idea to go with a "Bumblebee Transformers" theme which required me to take this ATV completely apart! This rebuild has everything from welding the frame to a complete top end motor rebuild! Thank you for watching, your positive support is greatly appreciated!

    I know this is an older video but I literally just picked up one of these for free off the side of the road. Pretty sure it's the same model. I'll be doing a similar build. My son will love riding it when he's old enough. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!

    I love how you have your kids involved in your Videos ... When my son was 4 years old I gave him a screw driver and had him remove the Parking Light from my old S-10 pickup truck that needed replacing....That's all it took....he is 22 now and a Complete Gear Head... Mostly rebuilding/modifying his and friend's older BMWs (E30s) Liked/Subscribed
    The best part for you is that you and your Family will have these Videos to re-watch for the rest of your lives ! Fantastic !

    The ones people are selling used for half of original new cost, are thrashed, things are broken, missing, etc. This little quad looks outstanding! You have the fun, learning, and sweat equity you can’t get from just buying another one and riding it (when it doesn’t run/work all that great anyway).

    when doing a compression test you need to have throttle wide open...the reason you didn't have to do it on the 110cc video is because you didn't have the carb on

    I have two Apollo Motors Commander 125cc ATVs for our kids, and have had nothing but carburetor, and electriclal trouble of all sorts. The stators are just junk. including the replacements I got from E-bay. Finding a supplier of quality parts has been really problematic. Any leads on good vendors of parts for these ATV would be really helpful. Love these Videos. VEry encouraging and informative. I'm getting an education on how these ATVs work. Not planned though. Repair shops won't even take them. Having carburetor trouble with the Jinkie 22mm they came with. Can't seem to get them to run right either one.

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  5 років тому

      Thanks! I'm happy you enjoy the builds! I've been thinking about doing some in-depth DIY repair video for these atvs! There is a lot of information on them but nothing real direct about wiring. You are %100 correct about the repair shops. Even if you find a shop that will work on them, a top end rebuild for one of these motors would cost more than replacing the entire quad! Check out VMC Chinese parts. They have some things on their eBay store but a lot more available from vmcchineseparts.com. I've been using them for years! At the end of the day these chinese parts are lower quality but I've never had a VMC part fail with in the first year of riding.

      @@PraskaBoysGarage Thanks very kindly for your advice. Really enjoy your videos. Really well done. :) I get my sons running right Next project following the tractor's hydraulic is an ATV stand up of a used one for the wife and I. If I can find one cheep enough. ARe the Adult size China made ATVs worth it in the 200CC range? Polaris is way outside my price range. Even the used ones are steep.

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  5 років тому

      Terry Spooner If your running them at your house or private property then the Chinese atvs are a great choice. If your going to be riding every weekend, taking it to camp grounds or off road parks I would save up for a used Honda. You can find good deals Honda recon 250s for around $1,500 dollars and they are great machines!

    • @terryspooner128
      @terryspooner128 5 років тому

      @@PraskaBoysGarage Hello. Thanks for your last video on electrical systems. :) Found the problem of my son's ATV 125cc. It was the stator. Lot of corrosion. The problem was the engine ran rough and would miss and then die. Would not stay running if It would start at all. I had replaced (upgraded) the ignitions system completely, as well as carburetor with Keihin 22mm. Didn't die as fast, but still would not stay running. Pilot jet was fine. Then out of desperation I pulled the flywheel cover and took a look at the corroded crank sensor, and 6 coil stator. Just seeing the rust I decided to change the stator with one of the junk stators that previously failed that I had repaired (bad solder on red/black lead). After the magneto replacement if fired up and runs well. Nothing to brag about either. That ATV was down for 2 months +. Sorry to say. These mags/stator assemblies have some either design or manufacturing problems. This is equivalent to the 4th on in 1 year. Not good. The flywheel or timing cover has two vents at the bottom. When ridden through water that can cause problems apparently. Wonder how that happened????? :) Not sure how to harden sensitive parts like this without also burning up stators/mags? Has to be a better way than this? Good news is that the kids are terrorizing the deer, coyote, jackrabbit populations or anything that catches their eye to chase down. :) LOL They just informed me they want rifle racks for their BB guns. :)

    On a unknown origin motor before u crank it over u should drop a lil oil down the cylinder just in case it's a lil rusty and maybe hand rotate with 14mm behind stator cover plug . Just trying to help

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  5 років тому

      greasemonkygaming greasemonkygaming You are absolutely correct! I typically use ATF down the spark plug hole, but more often when I’m working with 2 strokes or really old motors. I’m more of a “check the oil and send it” kinda guy. Your right, best practice would be to drop some oil and hand crank first.

    You got yourself a nice little shop there I would love to have myself a better shop I work out of my garage which is 75 years old the floor is all cracked up it's half rotten and it's cold as hell in the winter and it's been known to flood in the spring. The problem is it's very swampy where I am and the old Foundation has sunk into the Earth over the years one of these days when I get a few bucks we are going to jack it up and put a new foundation under it and if I can get it half as good as yours I'll be happy. Been watching all your videos I really like the one with the orange bike where you gave it back to the family that was very nice of you. God bless stay safe and keep on wrenching.

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  4 роки тому

      charlie hill I hate to say it, but if you have spark and it’s not popping off with starter fluid, likely there is a bigger problem. Spark, Fuel, Air, Compression and it sounds like you have the first 3. Next step for me is a compression test followed by a leak down test.

    For the brake wires in the front. There’s a fairly long wire that comes out the front that in a different video you said needed to be touched together as though the brake was being pulled. Did you connect that to the hand brake?
    If so, there’s another wire that also comes out the front that is a two wire with a male two wire connector, where did you wire that or did you to them altogether to the hand brake?

    Looking for softer shocks, I have a 110 ( I believe ). Thinking there might just be old & stiff but don’t want to spend that much if there going to be the same as what are on them now I’m 220 lbs & it won’t squeeze down much. So should I try stock or just go smaller coil springs ?

    I got a 125 that the engine started rattling. Found the oil pump had seized from a small piece of metal getting in it, it also took the teeth off the oil pump timing chain gear. Debating on if I should scrap it, or fix it. Means tearing it completely apart, splitting the case and making sure there isn't more damage. Also considering a new 110cc. Would there be much power difference?
