    I appreciate the video, So I don't want you to think it's complaining, but the fast forwarding does let us see the details of where wires go ,carb hook up, for most of us, were watching to see if you show how something goes together cause we get them mostly torn apart with no manual, hope you slow down the vids so we can watch what goes where in detail, unless you have a different reason for these vids other then learning, thanks again

      Unfortunately that’s probably true. They are considered by most people as “throw away” quads. Just trying my best to help save a couple to keep kids riding without breaking the bank!

      Hey BJ, did you use POR-15 on the painted parts? If so, do you use the top coat also? I hear without the top coat UV rays discolor the POR.

    I got one just like that for free. It sat out in my buddies yard for three year's so he figured it was scrap. Got it running in a couple hours and $40 worth of parts. Spent a few more hour's on paint. The kid's really enjoyed it. It's been sitting again for the last year so maybe it's time to fix it up again.

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  4 роки тому +1

      Love it man! I believe that is where I see the most value in these atvs. Low cost upfront for the kids to have fun and they are easy to work on when they break!

    Great video. A lot of people would have just chucked it because it's "Chinese" and because "it's a complete waste of time to try to fix," but I see it as a learning experience of how to do things better.

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  4 роки тому

      Couldn't have said it any better myself! It is a great learning opportunity and doesn't break the bank to get the education either!

    I bought my brother a cheap Chinese Baja quad from pep boys back in '05, looks really close to the one you have except mines a 125cc. You got the same quad as my friends kid. We had to do some work to it on occasion but that jr sized 110 lasted him from 10 to 14 years old.
    It costs $120 a year for 4 years to buzz around the farm. He outgrew it.
    Moved on to dads z400.
    Now hear 21 and just picked up a canned ham xmr 1000.
    I bought a 50 sized w a 110 motor for $100 used, 10 years ago. I've messed w the carb enough to make it run really well. It pulls me around pretty well at #180 been great for my kids to learn.
    That little china, honda knock off is on its 4th rider.
    Btw bought a real nice motorcycle battery. Brand name. It was around $120 a few years later needed a new battery. Bought its 2nd battery from walmart paid $33 , no $h!t. Its been starting that little machine for 5 years now

    I just picked up an identical unit to this, The engine and gear box were completely disassembled when I picked it up. It some broken gears in the 3-speed gear box. Will you ever do a tear-down vid of these or do you know of a decent one? I've been searching around but haven't found one yet. Other than that, I LOVE your vids. I just stepped into the ATV world last fall with a little 90cc Ducar quad that my 8-year old and I tore down to replace the piston and cylinder. Runs like a champ now for real cheap!

      @@PraskaBoysGarage I have started! However, have you ever encountered a quad with only 4 wires out of the stator that include green, two yellows and a blue/white. There is no black/red ! I have taken off the stator cover to see if perhaps the wire had broken within the cable sheath but no, there is no black/red entering the loom from within the cover. I can only see green, two yellows and a blue/white. Any advice would be much appreciated

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  4 роки тому

      temple68 interesting...So green is ground, yellow is the charging & lighting wires and I believe blue is the pick up for the cdi box. Follow the blue, does it go to the cdi? That should tell it when to fire spark from the timing and red/black should charge the cdi. Only 4 wires is new to me, but I was trace and and see where they all go.

    • @alextas3651
      @alextas3651 4 роки тому

      Hi and me again (alextas temple68). I have little idea about youtube. I have been playing a bit more with my quad and another one. Turns out the 4 wire stator is intended for a dc cdi. I made up an ugly loom and got it going. Instead of the black/red you take a red straight from the battery. Tried it on another quad which originally had an ac 5 pin cdi and black/red from the stator. Hooked it up in the same way using red from battery and not the black/red, and it went too! Very happy but am using a double house light switch as start and run which is not ideal so will have to spend some more time to get them bush ready!! Will try and add a picture somehow...
