  • In this video I break down a step by step process to install a brand new wiring harness from ground zero. Most of these used Chinese atvs you pick up will have some kind of wiring issue. This video will show you how to install everything needed to make the atv run again!

    I've been searching for a complete wiring harness install video for the past week for my X15 Super Pocket Bikes I just picked up. And you Sir, by far have surpassed EVERYONE that I've seen trying to give instructions on how and what needs to be connected to each wire. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! You have no idea how much this video has been appreciated with the information you have given to the public with visual and very simple connection instructions. (I Don't need to look at another video, thanks to you). Thanks Again!!!!

    Twice in the past two years I’ve been very frustrated with bench testing an ATV wiring harness. Each time I eventually (re)discovered this video, and within minutes everything was clear and working.

    I have watched other videos on wiring my Chinese ATV, 125 cc, but none of them came close to this one. Step by step explanation on how to apply the new hardness and make all connections are explained and easy to follow. I spent months trying to replace my wiring and considered buying a new ATV, until I found this video. "CUDOS" to this presentation and "Ata Boy" to the narrator.

    finally a decent detailed video of wiring , this week i got a 110cc Chinese quad for £80 , Wiring loom was shot and this will help me alot. Prob with these cheap quads though is the woodruff keys don't last and cause damage to the flywheels... Good thing is parts are cheap.

    • @james1976-nov
      @james1976-nov 5 років тому +1

      New loom arrived, The main connectors from the stator have a white box yet the loom has single wires. Looks like i'll have to cut them and purchase the push fit ali connectors instead. Prefer the white box though.

    So where does those 2 cables go? The ones u touch together to make the quad think ur pressing the break?

    • @scotthope5806
      @scotthope5806 4 місяці тому

      That's the handbrake switch wires. They cause a closed circuit when holding the brake allowing the start swith to work. So twisting them together tricks it into thinking your holding the brake... but those wires naturally somce these detect if your holding handbrake.. they go up to the brake handle. There's 2 prongs on the back of the brake handle they fit onto.
      So tldr.. brake handle..

    Thanks for responding. I figured it out, took me many hours but I did it. The handle bar switch connections were wired wrong. I had to take the brown and blue wires from the six way and move them to the two way connector to connect them with the red and green wires to starter relay. And then the wires for the kill switch were wired up to connect to the lights. What a mess!! Be careful buying from VMC. Thanks for the video, it really helped me!!!

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the sub! I appreciate it! I'm not 100% confident on that mostly because of the stator. You would need to do some research on the factory harness and the wiring diagram to see if the factory stator is compatible. It's entirely possible, but I would look for a used factory harness first on eBay before trying a Chinese harness. Let me know if you try it! I love to know if it works!

      I should have asked, how old is the Honda? It might have points for spark and not a cdi box if its to old. If that's the case then it defiantly wouldn't work.

    Being one thats currently working on several of these atv's I'm always looking to youtube and google to try and find information and such. Your videos are just about perfect for me. The length is decent and the content is great. I had one quad which had a carb issue. Easy enough. The next one turned out to be an easy fix but not before removing all the wiring to start fresh. So currently in the rewiring stage. The last quad I just found to have no compression after restoring spark and key/starter issues. Look forward to following you and watching the channel grow.

      The one thing I cant seem to find anywhere though. From Google to UA-cam. Is an adequate source for adding the chinese alarms. I know most people don't care for them but my girlfriend would really like to add them to these quads. Any possibility of doing something in that area? Thanks again for what you're doing. Keep it up.

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the positive feedback! It's always something with these thing, but it's nice because the parts are pretty cheap. I've never done a harness with the alarm kit before because it runs around $75 bucks on eBay and its the exact same kit I install in this video with the addition of the computer and horn. I know those kits come with a wiring diagram to help install though. I'll keep it in mind if I do another ATV but I am currently looking to do a dirt bike next! eBay#123656850930 as a reference.

    • @evincar18
      @evincar18 5 років тому +2

      My issue is that I bought two different remote shut off kits from Amazon. They were only about $15 but came with 0 instruction on how to splice it in to an existing set up. Resources online are scarce but I have found a couple diagrams. Hopefully I can tinker fix it together lol. Well you keep doing what you're doing and the subs will follow. I'm a youtube junkie and wish there was more content like this. I have watched so much of Harvey Spooners videos as they've been one of the better resources for basic wiring. Thanks for the link and good luck with the upcoming project. Looking forward to seeing more.

      james s how many wires are on the computer? The one I saw hooked up like this
      Red wire --- battery positive
      Black wire --- battery negative
      Blue wire --- starter
      Orange wire--- ignition switch positive

    • @evincar18
      @evincar18 5 років тому

      @@GrowYourOwnFun the first kit has, 1 black, 1 orange, 1 red, 1 gray, 1 blue, 1 pink, 2 white to speaker, 1 black to antenna
      The second kit has
      2 yellow, 1 black, 1 red, 1 blue, 1 orange, 1 white, 1 pink, 2 gray to the speaker, 1 blue antenna.
      So they're close to the same but obviously a few differences. I believe the pinks and grays are what tie into the black/white wire for the killswitch. I have found a few diagrams but havent had a chance to really map it out yet.

    much love for making a detailed video. makes it easy to follow. The 2 prong plug on the switch was my trouble spot. This answered my questions. I now think I have a bad relay on my break because it won’t start with the kill wires hooked up. I have to jump them together. When I test the relay it show as normally closed and when I compress the break it goes open. I believe it should test as normally open for this to work. Turns out the 50cc is a 70cc! Nice surprise
