Actually, it's how MOST used car dealerships operate when the car is over 10 grand.
We depend on repeat business and referrals.
Even if the car is below 3 grand, if it isn't at least 90 percent, we sell it at the auction.
Nothing costs more in headaches and time, not to mention bad feelings than selling a crappy car.

How many used cars lots would allow the Car Wizard, or the mechanic of their choice to inspect a potential sale? The Car Wizard has opened my eyes to potential issues after the warranty has ended, and particular makes have reached certain ages, particularly those cars with plastic parts. Used car lots won’t warn you the BMW timing chain plastic guide you’re interested in could fail.

When a customer wants to have a car pre inspected, the dealer has no choice in the matter. The car gets inspected by the customers mechanic. No matter who it is. Of course, they CAN refuse, and we had 1 shop that we blackballed because they were dishonest, but it's very rare. And it's done at the expense of the customer, so it's their right to pick. We always recommended to purchase an extended warranty for repairs that nobody could forsee. It was good for business and we never charged a surcharge for the warranty.

There must be consumer purchase laws in the US as well, he can’t knowingly sell a car with know faults, hence he has to fix them. Or person can return goods as not fit for purpose.

depends on the year/model region volvo you have.. some i you have to twist or press button twice or three times.. with my P3 XC70 for example the way it works is press engine start button to get warning to park it first and then turn off, then press it again and it will tell u to press once more to shut the car off in Neutral, press it again and car turns off.. but i seen it work 2x for other P3 volvos and for SPA/CMA volvos i seen twist and hold and twist and twist twice fast to shut it off in gear.

One thing that caught my eye...That really clean and shiny rear subframe had a "Volvo Genuine Spare Parts" label on it, suggesting that the car may have been in an accident serious enough to require subframe replacement. I don't think factory installed parts have a "Genuine Spare Parts" label, but I could be wrong about that.

I have xc70 from 1999 and still there are original labels on rear subframe, rear cv shafts, front cv shafts, front shock absorber, rear shock absorber, gearbox, angle gear... etc etc....ofcorse there are some missing, but still, i order some of my parts from those label numbers. The biggest queation is why bearing is out at only 93 000 miles....thats not right!!! In Euro spec brand new volvos those bearings should last atleast 400 000 kms it just cant go out that fast!!!!

I'm telling you, working as a service porter at my local Volvo dealer... I have never seen so many issues with cars with no pattern.
The only common problem I see on these XC90s is the piston rings due to oil consumption. Other problems range so much I can't remember any. They LOVE throwing CELs. Had a couple oil traps that go (you will know if it's an oil trap when you hear a metallic squealing noise when you start it up), but aside from the wide variety of smaller issues, these B4204... engines are alright as far as reliability is concerned. They aren't a Toyota, but they aren't the most unreliable engine.

@@bostonbruinsfanboy Nope, The XC90 is not produced in China. Either Sweden or Malaysia. For US marked I'm quite sure it is Sweden. The S60's for the EU and US market is now a days produced in the US, in South Carolina. That model also has a production line in China, but mainly for the Chinese market. But I think that is a longer variant since that is very popular in that market. Don't think Volvo sell any Chinese made cars in the US under its own name. Polestar is a different story, but is considered its own brand these days.

You didn't mention the oil burning issue the 16 xc90 has. Know a few people with them and the local Volvo dealers solution is when the low oil light comes on to stop in and they top off for free if you get the last oil change from them. Its a low oil sensor not a low oil pressure too for those who think that.

There is an override you can press to change the gears when the engine is turned off. You take a side of the passenger side plastic cover off the transmission console and there is a little plastic strap that you pull down for gear lock release.

Yes you can put it in neutral after the engine is off, you just have to hold the start switch to the right for a few seconds without applying the brake pedal to turn on the electronics and enable the gear shifter. A tire shop learned me this the first time i came there with my V90. In ref to the video, the XC90 doesn't have all the options. Does not have Bowers & Wilkins or massage/ventilated seats.
