+Doug DeMuro, I personally own a "fully loaded" 2016 XC90 Inscription. So, while I've seen an Excellence model, I cannot speak for that trim level. However, there a few corrections to point out. First, in "Rough Road" mode, the transmission limits you to a certain speed. But, if you're looking for a fast 0 to 60 speed test, then you should've chose the "Dynamic" drive setting. And the styling? Sweden is primarily known for two vehicle manufacturers; Volvo and Saab. I believe that Ikea furniture (Or, maybe just the styling.) is from there as well. However; if you're looking for something to point out, then why not the "Since 1959" that's stamped into every seatbelt latch? After all; Volvo did design the three-point safety latch seatbelt system. But Seriously???Can we really not get ONE mention of safety, or the safety features, that Volvo includes as STANDARD on all Volvo's?BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert - Lets you know when it's ok to change lanes. Warns if another vehicle is crossing your path.Adaptive Cruise Control - Maintains distance between you & the vehicle ahead of you. Lane Keeping Aid - Alerts driver if you drift out of your lane.Road Sign Information - Reads speed limit & school zone signs, and reminds you of your speed.Things you did not review:Any of the safety features; standard or add-ons.Head-up Display4-corner Air Suspension
He can't because then he might be impressed, i've struggled through the 11 minute mark, and all he did was draw his nose up to it like it's something far beneath him, alternatively to ridicule.
I'm actually picking up a S90 T6 Inscription, and yes, you can put it in Dynamic, but keeping the transmission as automatic rather than using the gear shifter to manually go through the gears it does take a little more time than I care for the transmission to understand what I'm asking of it. It IS designed to be every day, rather than a sports sedan. *However*, what they have available now is a 'Polestar' tune, which is just a TCU (transmission control unit) and ECU tune that gives a little more power (not much, honestly), but it alters the shift patterns on the transmission which helps it fully utilize the twin-charging (and hybrid, if so equipped) for I think like $1500 or a little less. I'll probably have that done next year on my S90. It may also alter the AWD from being primarily FWD bias to RWD/Neutral, but I'm not 100% positive on that aspect. I also find the handling to be quite fine when it's rolling on 21's or 22's (which my tester had 21's). I think 22's would be too harsh and the suspension on my current vehicle is pretty aggressive for regular driving. To compare, I test drove an E53 and that felt like really responsive clouds compared to my current car, as did the F-Sport GS350 in sport and the Ghibli SQ4 in sport.
Ryan Shannon polestar models have physical differences as well. Engine parts are not the same as the regular t6 engine, some pf them are bigger/ more robust, and most of the parts are in the gold polestar colour.
@@erikbuiten14 Yes, the actual P* models do have physical differences, but for the S90 T6 Inscription that I picked up last week, you can get the software itself flashed where it's been 'optimized' by Polestar. It's kind of annoying, because I feel like the P* flash should've been how the S90 came factory from the dealership. But, I know it came out a year or so after the S90 release and that platform required EXTENSIVE software updates to get everything working well, as mine does now. I know that they will release a proper Polestar built vehicle, but I think that's in 2020, isn't it?
Bentley Bentayga, Cadillac Escalade, Tesla Model X, R63 AMG (not technically an SUV but pretty much the same since it has no sliding doors), 2 different Range Rovers, but no luxury SUVs, huh?
I don't really get how a car that's *"almost as good as a Rolls Royce",* for a fraction of the price, only get's a "3" in value. Doug clearly isn't objective and this car should be the highest scoring car in Daily segment.
It's kind of subjective to him, but then also to the market. The quality and experience is near a Rolls, but the engine isn't as reliable. Nor does anyone think "Volvo" for luxury like they do Rolls Royce. Popularity shouldn't really be a factor in the scoring, but it is, because popularity affects the resale value. So if it were "initial" value it'd be higher.
"The engine isn't as reliable" How do you know? And this is a much better value than a Rolls Royce Cullinan that costs four times as much but why? Bigger engine, an even more luxurious interieur but mostly marketing. Take the RR badge away and the Cullinan is a $150k car.
Say a Rolls Royce engine that is reliable? They are'nt any.. And now BMW owns RR it's more unreliable on elctronics and everything! I have never heard a volvo engine that you want to get "away" from accept the Mitsubishi GDI engine in the S40. Volvo's diesel engines is reliable! So.. you are spot on!! :D I don't know any RR that have rolled over 30 000km ;D
Doug you've read my mind. I was literally looking at this same model in the volvo website, and thinking: "It would be cool if Doug did a review on this"
You know if I look at interior of these car and compare to other $100k cars like Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalate... this one is worth $100k. Quality, details, luxury... you know people who's design it really thinks.
The car deserves the price tag. In many other luxury cars, I felt around and looked at it and it definitely did not fit a $100k-$200k price tag(especially BMW and some Merc models) but this car is well deserving of it's price.

We'll see how long. They're already importing chinese Volvo's onto the EU-market. Soon they'll only have administration in Sweden, while they'll do anything to sound swedish ( which they haven't been for long ).
Cheap front wheel-based platform, nothing more than poor 4-cylinder engines and doesn't have any full-size limo as competitor for S-class or BMW 7. Not even some nice roadster or coupe. However, it can still be regarded a high end brand for hipsters and metrosexuals who only care about large touch screen and connectivity.

First car on this channel except for the tesla with an infotainment system that isn't trashy and laggy Edit: my comment is a bit sensational, yes, this is UA-cam, but I just have the feeling that most cars in general have a 486 inside them to power these systems.
Teslas have some of the most laggy nav systems known to mankind, what do you mean ? Did you see the tachometer at 11:02 ? that's the definition on laggy.
I just said they weren't trashy, they are still suboptimal. Honestly it is so confusing to me why auto makers can't put a half decent GPU and CPU or an APU in these cars to handle these systems.
Bought the XC 90 T8 and it's wonderful. So many features, the auto pilot on the highway is flawless. And the speed is insane, while giving insane MPG. I got it to 94 MPG today taking the kids to the park. I would recommend this SUV to anyone.
Audi? The r8 cost less than that. Don't bring a good German series to a bad name, it's no where near BMW or Mercedes. A SQ5, which I would rather over this, is priced at 80k and would be a way better choice. Don't even talk trash on the engine either, yes they had bad times in the past but everything up from 2009 has been god like. I hate when people BMW and Audi in the same category. Once you drive off the lot with a Audi you don't feel like you just wasted a bunch of money.
tre luglio well it isnt. The cars (at least the ones sold in Europe) are made in Sweden. That's why they're probably more popular in Europe than in the US.
@@justinl2009 A 4 cylinder will never run as smooth as a 6 or even 8. Plus this car is both turbo-charged and a hybrid. It can't match a 3.5 V6 with the same output in terms of reliability and/or low rev torque.
Not really. It doesn't have any full-size limousine. It's based on cheap inferior front-wheel platforms and it doesn't offer any real premium engine! Four-cylinder in top end models? That's a joke. Only idiot would pay 100k for 4-cylinder garbage under the hood.
Really? Its not a premium brand because it only has 2.0 four-cylinder engine? So, how many cylinders engine need a brand to have to be premium? All american cars are premium than right? And if you read my comment, i was not talking about this particular 100k model, i was saying that Volvo itself is a premium brand, just like BMW that has also four engine cylinders engines or Mercedes...
The Nobler you are clearly the idiot here, there is more to a car than the drivetrain, I bet you drive a mustang or any of the shitty dodge’s. Volvo is about practicality and comfort. Whereas the mustang is a low quality, uncomfortable car that handles like a bathtub on 3 wheels.
Albin Wallin The problem is that this car is way overpriced for what you're getting. It's pretty much a BMW x6 but marked up $40,000. Also, nothing about that engine is luxary. A super charger and turbro charger are going to make for a very jerky ride with poor road sound when compared to any decent i6.
Lol man, that made me laugh.... Keep your cadillac and Lincolns, i sure wouldnt trade any volvo for that! And yes, Volvo is a premium brand, but, if you are talking about luxury brands... than Cadillac and Lincoln are nowhere near Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche.... Such crazy ones here on UA-cam.

When SAAB had the key between the seats everyone thought it was dumb. But when the former SAAB engineers that now works at Volvo moved the start point it is quirky and fun... Volvo is no longer just Volvo, it is SAAVLO.

121bham volvo is the pioneer in developing safety technologies, the whole car from its chassis to the most advanced systems guarantee total superiority in safety, already proven by his ratings in the euro ncap, so if he talks about the luxury of a rolls royce or the maybach 57s or the power of a ferrari or a lambo, he should certainly had mention about the safety of a Volvo in my opinion.
121bham to begin they invented the 3 point seat belt, and many other technologies that u can search and apparently you cant interpret texts, safety is part of the history of volvo, as I did the above comparisons, several technologies used by mercedes or several other automakers were previously developed by volvo and this even patented so that other automakers could also use, collaborating with the well-being of several drivers. When you do not know anything about what you are reading or commenting on, you will not see any sense in anything in fact.
121bham there is a big difference between perfecting and creating something, obviously there are not possibility to him commenting of the mercedes if the video is about a VOLVO, the relationship between the Mercedes and the security was pure marketing strategy to sell its first S class , already to volvo has in total priority the development of new security technologies, even if some prefer a powerful engine in a completely unsafe car, Volvo was the pioneer to focus on a totally safety car. Who started to think superior was you and I proved that it is not, to finish as I said from the beginning , in MY OPINION he should have commented. Enjoy the Yt.

Ryan Shannon in sweden we can order a pure polestar s60, but im unsure about rest of the world

I don't really get how a car that's *"almost as good as a Rolls Royce",* for a fraction of the price, only get's a "3" in value.
Doug clearly isn't objective and this car should be the highest scoring car in Daily segment.
i agree, he doesnt make sense in a lot of scoring

Rich Asian get chauffeured in a Volvo not because of the style but because of the safety equipment this car has. I enjoyed the video but I was slight disappointed that you didn't mention any safety feature of this Volvo
121bham but he stills right when he said that doug forgot to talk about the high safety of Volvo cars.
121bham do not be presumptuous when discussing with others my friend.
