- A deep dive into the MCU and how it's fallen from influence in recent years
I'm probably not going to make another video like this again (or at least for a while) so really the only videos that will be similar are the unscripted or partially scripted ones like the Megamind 2 video.
Lastly my next videos are going to be WAY different than what I've done so far, so it might take a little longer to upload, I might get some small gameplay videos in but that's pretty much it. Which is to be expected I would hope because, after all, I am the ANYTHING Zone.
Ok, since a lot of people have asked about No Way Home I'll give a brief look on it here.
No way home was packed full of fan service while keeping a great story. There was a point where the CGI wasn’t very good, and i think that Lizzard could've done more. But other than that, Green Goblin was awesome (and i love how smoothly they turned his costume into a more comic accurate suit.) And lastly the ending was great, and actually had a sacrifice within it. This was personally my favorite project that's come out post endgame so far.
The only thing i ever watched from any Spider-man films before Home trilogy was final battles

It wasn't at the fault of Jonathan Majors he played his role as Kang perfectly, I blame the writers of that movie Quantumania.
Oh absolutely, Majors definitely was a light in that film. I often compare it to Cristian Bale as Gorr. Amazing performance, bad movie

One thing worth a mention about the whole "Wanda's character between Wandavision and Multiverse of Madness", Sam Raimi wasn’t able to watch WandaVision before getting to work on Multiverse of Madness. He had just some vague summaries to go off of. Just thought it was worth bringing up.
Oh really? I didn't know that. That kinda sucks considering that WandaVision was so huge to her character. They definitely could've connected those two projects better.

This is a complaint I never got. He does get through the ants, he fights Scott like a minute later. Killing countless giant ants in that time is not an easy feat even for Thanos lol
Side note, I felt like Kang had his moments in that film, but he is handled better in Loki I think. Too bad we'll probably never see his story finished :P
Yeah I think he was great in Loki, I guess my real complaint with him was that he was struggling a lot more with the ants than the army of people (granted most of the people he killed were running away instead of attacking) I just feel that they could've been more consistent with his powers. But that's just me ig thanks for watching 👍

Kang is vaporizing armies of rebels in that movie but for some reason never uses his vaporizing lasers on the main characters. There's realistically no way he would have lost.

I think that the reason the MCU died was because of the structure. Think about it. Every newer movie starts with the hero being normal or for pre-existing heros at their peak, said hero gets powers or if not they get to be introduced to some new threat. New threat defeats the hero, the hero finds the strength to continue or some magical artifact. The character then beats the villain.
Yeah that tends to be the standard formula. And I agree. That's why I think Ms Marvel was boring, because it fell under that same trope.
Honestly I don’t think they made Fisk seem like a pushover in his fight with Kate
He was destroying her in that fight and considering Fisk eventually walked out I don’t even consider her a victor but rather a tie(but since it’s based on her getting lucky I’m ok with it)
Yeah I think I could've worded that better looking back on it lol.
I guess my main issue was that they defeated Kingpin in a way that felt too fast and anticlimactic. He just was standing in an unlucky spot only which led to him being blown up. That's how he lost. If imma be honest, I would rather have seen Kate win in a bigger fight than Kingpin just getting launched by an inconveniently placed arrow lol.
But at least the show was enjoyable so idc about that in retrospect 😂

@wickeli yeah loki is def the best show so far. I also really enjoyed wandavision but I think Hawkeye was overall better because wandavision had that pretty bad finale

One of my friends suggested I skip the first 2 or 3 episodes saying it doesn’t start till there but luckily I didn’t since I found those the most interesting
@wickeli to me the episode itself wasn't the worst. Cool fighting I guess but the problem I have with it was how it was so far off from what wandavision was going for. It had some of the most unique things I've ever seen in a Marvel project only for the finale to be kinda copy paste of every other marvel thing.
I am also VERY glad you watched the first couple episodes because those are some of the best. And I agree with you that MOM made that finale seem more pointless.
Your cover on the MCU is incredible, but I am much intrigued on your thoughts of Sony Spider-Man villain spinoff universe. It only has one small connection to the MCU venom, but I’m not even sure about that because some people are pointing out in the trailer that the end credits of no way home is getting retcon due to a trailer of venom the last dance. anyhow great video. And to shed some light on that whole villain universe. I loved the venom movies (even despite the wasted potential of carnage but at least he looked cool lol) however they started to lose me with that awful morbius movie and shoehorning in spiderman references and vulture at the end was stupid and kinda went against his character in homecoming. Venom was HELLA wasted in NWH and that's easily my least favorite part about that movie. I remember getting so excited at the idea of Tom Hardy Venom fighting Tom Holland Spiderman but it just never worked out. At least we might get symbiot spiderman soon which is cool.

I think the reason the X-Men cannot be introduced yet is because the fox actors contracts expire in 2026. this means Marvel cannot introduce their version yet

Other than Universal, Toho also made their own cinematic universe which lasted from 1954 to 1975 I think. They even had their own Endgame event.

When I also watched Eternals, I’m not gonna lie. I fell asleep. That’s how I knew. The movie was boring I never fall asleep to a marvel movie. That’s how I knew something was wrong.

I watched "The Marvels" and it was a movie theater experience I would never forget for all the wrong reasons. Why was the acting from Zawe Aston so fucking bland I wanted to bang my head on the floor or wall, she made the worst Dar-Benn. As soon as they started singing and dancing my mom wanted to leave the thearer. The only thing I loved about the movie was the baby alien cats and that X-Men credit scene. "The Marvels" that made me feel like Marvel crashed into the iceberg that sunk the Titanic. I was so angry where I wanted to hit Kevin Feige like a fucking boxer. "The Marvels" became the biggest flop in MCU history by becoming the lowest grossing film of the franchise. Thank Jesus Christ we have "Deadpool & Wolverine" in July.

In my humble opinion, the multiverse was always a bad idea. Not only does it have massive potential for confusing more regular moviegoers who don't know the comics and don't watch every movie, but it also has massive potential for rendering every previously impactful moment meaningless. Tony Stark dead? Just bring in another one from a parallel universe then (e.g. like Gamorra). I personally always had a bad feeling about this.
They should have used the multiverse crap one time only, for the Spider-Man movie, and then gotten rid of it forever.
Yeah I agree. The multiverse is a naturally confusing subject. In order for it to work you need to pretty much base your entire story around it (like Rick and Morty uses the multiverse very well)

As amazing as Ant-Man's sacrifice would have been, I feel it was better that he didn't because it would've felt wasted in a terrible movie such as that.
It's like how I feel about Soap's death in the CoD: Modern Warfare 3 Reboot. His death was just wasted in such a terrible game. I know this is a spoiler but who cares about Call of Duty these days anyway?

Why your video is a bit wrong:
You choose to ignore all the faults of the Infinity Saga of the MCU, yet you nitpick every detail of the current saga.
Instead of focusing even more on why Black Widow was not a good movie, you complain that it’s a prequel, and that’s why it’s bad.
You complain about why the infinity stones are paperweights in Loki, while not acknowledging that the show makes it clear that the stones are plentiful considering there is a vast multiverse.
You complain about the boat and overall filler in TF&TWS, even though you don’t acknowledge similar things such as most of the original Thor movie being just dialogue without action, or how filler helps us build better relationships with the cast.
You complain about the Scarlet Witch defeating the Illuminati in Dr Strange 2, yet something similar in the comics happened that caused the entire Avengers team to break up in 2004.
Out of all things to complain about from the bad adaptation of She-Hulk(they did my girl Shulkie dirty), you complain about that Daredevil has a suit reflecting his original comic appearances. This is something that if anything is a rare moment of coolness within the show.
I’m not the biggest fan of Wakanda Forever, but to say Ironheart is a “random replacement Iron Man” is so annoying. I get calling her a replacement, that makes sense. But you do realize that before the MCU, most of the characters were absolute nobodies to the mainstream such as the Scott Lang version of Ant-Man, or the Winter Soldier, or War Machine(who in the comics became Iron Man for a bit).
I hate Quantumania just as much as you do, but one variant of Kang being defeated by an Ant-Man isn’t exactly a bad thing. After all, Tony blew up Thanos’s ship in Marvel’s The Avengers and later Thanos was still able to defeat him in the 3rd Avengers movie. This is nothing new.
I’m not an Echo fan, but to use your photo of reviews for it be from Nerdrotic(a racist and sexist UA-cam channel) kinda doesn’t make you seem any better.

For the infinity saga, I was more building up to the fall of because despite them not having the best moments, I think it worked in telling the overall story that led up to endgame. And also something I definitely should've mentioned in the video was how spaced out the movies were. In the new phase there's like 5 new projects at once and it got overwhelming. At least with the infinity saga they had some sort of hype to them that I don't see nowadays. Despite this, I absolutely see what you're saying and will try to get both sides in the future. So to your point, I thought Ant Man and the Wasp wasn't good, Thor dark world obviously wasn't good either, and I wasn't really a fan of the Thor movies other than Ragnarok.
I think Ironheart was a lackluster character who was just kinda good at what she does. Iron man went through many stages if trial and error (like the scenes of him trying his suits and failing) so I think she did a little too much without much development.
I don't think Kang being defeated by Ant Man was the issue. But rather how inconsistent they made his power seem and how Ant Man didn't sacrifice anything. The choice of: going with his family or staying to keep Kang out felt like a good fork in the road only for them to just open up that portal.
But overall I really am glad you gave me that feedback. The stuff about loki and TFATWS was mainly just for a quick joke which, yeah isn't the best way to go about it but I want to briefly mention the good or mid stuff so I could really get to the bad stuff. But in the future I'll keep this in mind. Thanks 🔥🔥🔥

I think they should have recast T’Challa, realized that the jury made the wrong decision in Jonathan Major’s case, and gave Falcon the supersoldier serum so he could be a proper Captain America. Those things would have done a world of good for the MCU, especially with respect to black male audiences if they want to be about “diversity.”
Fr I think that if Black Panther 2 was the female Black Panther (her name is escaping me rn) had to take in and mentor T'Challa's son and had to try and overcome his death while trying to be a good mentor to his son would've made the movie 10x better imo

I definitely think recent MCU projects are overhated (I'd say most of them are in the 6/10 range, and they're treated like 2/10s) - but it is a shame considering they used to put out consistent 8-9/10s. That said, GOTG 3 and NWH slapped, so I certainly still have hope

And I think that marvel still has that potential. I've told a couple other people that Eternals could've been one of the best marvel movies if it had stuck with one plot. Thor love and thunder would've been great with more Gorr and less corny jokes. I think there are SO many cases of this. That's why I think Marvel can clutch. (And I hope they do before secret wars but only time will tell)
I don't think black panther 2 was a screw up, i felt like it was great considering the death of chadwick. It may have been boring due to the lack of fight scenes, but i don't think it should be in the same category as the other screw ups
Oh I dont consider it a screw up at all considering the other movies that came out in phase 4. I think that they did handle Chadwick's death very respectfully and I don't think that there was a necessarily "bad moment" in the movie. I just thought it was boring and there were some unfunny and boring parts. Ironhart felt rushed and forced and had no development, she was just kinda... good at it. But overall it was a fine movie, but there were better projects that came out, and worse ones that came out. So it was just kinda this middle of the road film lol 😂
Deadpool and Loki need to be the main chars of this new timeline. and main chars of New Avengers
Yeah, after seeing how most of the new avengers are literal kids. Them, and falcon are gonna carry. Also I can't wait for Deadpool to face off against Kang, or Beyonder or whoever the main villain will be

And I think the worst part about eternal was how much potential it had. If it had just stuck to one of the stories it planned than I think it would've been great. I know I didn't bring it up in the video but we did get one of the best speedster moments in a superhero movie. But I thought the narrative they tried to go with felt a little all over the place. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.

One of the main problems is Marvel giving chances to people who have ZERO EXPERIENCE in writing or barely can write anything good or just work on TV and they expected they could write a good film, then increased the number of projects per year from 2 or 3, to 3 movies and 3 TV shows was the dumbest idea and focus instead of bringing big hitters like the Fantastic 4 and the X-Men right away...........they decided to focus on bland, uninteresting, boring mary sues replacements for the big heroes, bringing the likes of Iron Heart, Female Thor, Female Black Panther, female Hawkeye, Miss Marvel Kamala, the boring Eternals and the only new character that was interesting....Shang Chi.....only have appear ONE TIME....THE ACTUAL F?.......then the Multiverse crap is not working and is making the story of the MCU have no weight or consequences, the actors are now not even trying, some casting decisions are baffling to say the least. Current MCU is a mess, and will take a miracle to bring the MCU back from this early grave, I really hope Deadpool and Wolverine can turn this around for good.
I agree completely. To be fair though, other studios are straight up gatekeeping the rights to certain characters. That's why we haven't gotten an MCU X-Men movie (other than the quicksilver appearance in WandaVision) and we were lucky enough to even get Spiderman because of how much Sony hates sharing. And all of the characters you listed had the potential to be great, well written characters but just fell short. I really liked what they did with Black Panther (despite the movie being a bit boring) but I thought the way they passed of Chadwick's legacy as BP was really well done. Shang Chi REALLY DOES NEED MORE SCREEN TIME JUST ONE POST CREDIT SCENE WITH HIM PLEASE.
And the Multiverse is a naturally confusing subject with so many different strands and timelines and characters and variants. I think Loki did a great job on explaining the confusing concept but LITTERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE FUMBLED IT. I feel as if there is a lack in communication and it's just the heads at Marvel vaguely telling the directors what to do. I'm seeing Deadpool and Wolverine tomorrow so we'll see.
Spiderman Far from home was the first project of the multiverse saga, not WandaVision

I thought Loki season 2 was SO GOOD. The ending proved that you don't need a big CGI finale in order for it to be good.
The Quantumania villain guy is the same as ‘he who remains’ from Loki (imho Loki as sick)
Yeah that's Kang The Conqueror. In Loki, he was known as He Who Remains. The point of the finale of Loki season 1 was that, because the girl Loki killed He Who Remains, it caused a whole bunch of variants of Kang to show up, that's why there is a Kang in Quantumania.

@@ihavespoken_shortsfar from home was technically still phase 3, it was actually the last movie of that part of the MCU. I decided to strictly talk about phase 4 and up instead. And I know I forgot no way home, it's personally my favorite movie that came out of post endgame and I'm mad I forgot it 😂

You pulled up videos from Nerdrotic and The Critical Drinker, then called them the general consensus. They're really controversial figures who have said some really bigoted and stupid stuff. Not trying to cancel anyone here, not into that crap, just informing you. Give The Marvels a chance, it only flopped because of the strike really. It's a lot of fun and while the plot is kinda not great overall it's enjoyable. Definitely give Echo a chance too, it's honestly up there on my list of Disney+ projects.
yeah, someone else told me that and i really just looked up "echo review" and found those. But i also said I'm not going to say anything else because i haven't seen them. eternals is the mcu’s most underrated and over-criticized project ever. it would’ve excelled as a series or maybe if it had a longer runtime as a movie it could’ve reached the audience more imo. would’ve loved a sequel…
I WISHED they made it a series. My main issue with it was how it tried to do so many things with the limited time it had. Like first it was "Oh there's a being that is stealing power from others and is rapidly evolving" to "Oh now the god-like beings have actually planted a seed into the earth for another god-like being to be born" then to "Oh, now our Superman-type character actually doesn't really care and wants the earth to end, let's fight him" if the movie had fleshed out one of those things and took time to finely tune those characters, I would've seen it as one of the best marvel projects.
also, the fact that we didn’t get to form a bond with the cast. they (marvel’s executives/producers/writers) tried to do something new for once (maybe appeal to a more curious and mature audience since the eternals are not as popular as other mainstream superheroes) but sadly fell quite short. admits all its imperfections, it was very pleasing visually and phonetically.

@thekidyn it was visually great. We got arguably the best speedster moment in a superhero film. And like you said, the eternals are fairly unknown to the majority which is probably why it flopped as hard as it did.

Worse than Gunn to DC, it looks like his show is permanently canceled.
When I think of my generation's most memorable creator/writers, to me Josh Whedon ranks up there with Lord and Miller and Aaron Sorkin.
Entertainment is only as good as it's writing, and these names have left behind a legacy of endlessly watchable entertainment.
Whether you want to fault Joss or the cancel culture that buried him - it's probably a lot of the former and at least some of the latter - I wonder if he could even get a job to directing a commercial these days.
And this is the same guy who wrote and directed the first Avengers film. People forget that movie was as groundbreaking as the original Iron Man was. Before Iron Man no one knew how impactful a single Marvel character could be, and before The Avengers, no one knew if a number of them would work together so well in one film.
Say what you will about Ultron which was good but not great, it still offered the birth of Vision along both hammer lift scenes and was solid enough entertainment despite the villain being 100% CGI. Everyone knows now excessive CGI is villainous, yet never should be the sole villain.
The point is Avengers was brilliant, as was his non MCU work like Firefly/Serenity, Angel, and Cabin in the Woods.
Gunn was also canceled but resurrected himself and gave the MCU terrific parting gifts in the holiday special and the last Guardians movie.
If the MCU is to have the best chance of regaining some of what it once had, they need Joss back.
Where are you Whedon? And if you could even envision a pathway back, would you even want to do what it takes to make it happen?
To be again or remain not to be? Whedon's answer to that question could help decide how watchable what remains of the MCU will ever be.
I totally agree! Gunn and Whedon were Titans in making the MCU thrive.
Personally, I'm an age of ulron defender. I thought Ultrons character was done beautifully despite him not being completely comic accurate.
And I didn't mention it in the video (which I probably should have now that I think about it.) But in a way the fans have brought up some issues. I've seen people complain about how something "isn't comic accurate" which, I get it, it's cool to see comics adapted into live action. But they forget to see that the MCU is a storyline that is its own. Things might not be 100% accurate but I think as long as it keeps their characters accurate enough to where you're able to recognize them (like obviously spiderman needs to have spiderman traits) then they can do whatever story that they want.
That's the beauty of the industry. To have the ability to create anything you want. Any world, any character, monster, hero, villain. Stories are built on the creative mind of the author. And I feel now more than ever, companies are putting money over the creative process instead of balancing them both.
But that's just my opinion lol
@@theanythingzone6090 I especially enjoyed James Spader's Ultron voice, so menacingly smart, slick and evil. But when it comes to the axiom of a movie is only as good as its villain, I think it was a lot to ask of audiences to rate Ultron as high as other screen villains. I also enjoyed Ultron, but a conscious AI that could be anywhere and everywhere and only occasionally manifested itself in one recognizable form...well, I think rating that kind of villain highly is a pretty big ask of any audience, especially considering the last big bad was the epic Loki. I think it was tough to go anywhere but down after the first Avengers, but I don't think Ultron fell off as much as others do, I also like it a lot.
From everything I've read and watched, the effort to make Ultron as amazing as the first almost gave Joss a nervous breakdown. Maybe if Joss does make a comeback someday he can take a cue from the likes of Lord and Miller, Goldstein and Daley, and the Russo brothers -- get yourself a writing partner. 🤟
@MichaelSTaylor James Spader was easily my favorite part of the movie. His voice was terrifying when I saw the movie in theaters. And yeah it is difficult to have such a conceptually powerful character to only have one movie but I think that they handled him fairly well considering the circumstances.
I’m sorry but like what kind of name is QUANTUMANIA? That has got to be one of the worst names for a film I’ve ever heard. Also on the timeline is lists Avengers: Kant Dynasty but how are they gonna do that now cuz the actor who plays Kang (forgot his name) was fired after he was arrested.

I really disagree with saying Shang Chi was awesome. I honestly though it wasn’t even a little good. There was no legitimate story arc present, the comic relief was bland and unfunny, and the action was flashy but felt unsubstantive. It honestly killed phase 4 for me
