      Great timing for you! . You should supplement your tongue posture practice with some orofacial myofunctional training. This will help make the optimal tongue posture more unconscious and improve your sleep quality and nasal breathing ability.

    Your face is continuing to rotate up and widen..... your upper lip is more supported in the cornors when you smile because of the expansion of the upper pallette. Something you dont mention is the side view of the back of your skull. Your loosing the point and its becoming wider because your entire skull is widening..

Side view at 10:27: This is your less developed side and it has a longer way to go to catch up with the other, but I think the forehead and especially the philtrum appear more vertical. I've always been a person that had their mouth open especially as a kid, but I wouldn't say that it made my face look bad, I still had a nice nose, cheekbones, etc. But after I got my braces out, years ago, after 3 years, my face was messed up. • @coachpyry
      @coachpyry  Рік тому +2

      Hi Morris!
      I think that it's a combination of a couple exercises, but the one that has probably had the biggest impact on adding muscle to the mid face is called "Mona Lisa Smile".
      Essentially, you'll smile like Mona Lisa without using your eyes.
      I've performed this exercise daily, most of the time a couple reps of 30-45 second holds. I'll usually do more sets once or twice per week when watching a movie or a documentary.
      Try to get a "pump" in the target muscles.
      I've included a thorough video demonstration of this exercise and all the other one's I've done to the Breathe Sleep Perform program.
      The program includes a progressive myofunctional training program.
      It also includes breathing exercises and education videos on optimal sleep hygiene to improve your nasal breathing ability at night time.

    Just curious, were you a mouth breather before? And would you say you had a recessed jaw before? I’m gonna try mewing, I’ve been told the only way to fix my terribly recessed jaw is through surgery but I’m terribly afraid of the surgery. It can be kinda hard to assess people’s results because it doesn’t seem like a lot of people that make mewing content actually have the problem that dr Mew is describing.

    • @coachpyry
      @coachpyry  7 місяців тому

      Hi there, thanks for sharing that.
      Yes, I was a mouth breather and still have a very recessed maxilla. I had orthodontics when I was a child, but unfortunately, they extracted teeth from my top row and did not focus on maxillary expansion.
      How old are you?
      I would get a few different opinions before committing to anything.
      Based on my understanding (not a medical professional or orthodontist), there are severe cases where surgery is the only way to influence the structure.
      However, there are many things you can do to improve the FUNCTION to improve your life quality.
      For example, you can to targeted tongue and upper airway muscle strength exercises to reduce snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. You can do breathing exercises to improve your nasal breathing ability. You can train your facial muscles and lose body fat to improve your facial aesthetics.
      Actually I made a video about this topic last week, I think you would enjoy watching it. ua-cam.com/video/b94a9QUi08o/v-deo.html

      @@coachpyry I’m 30 years old, I’ve been to many orthodontists over the years and every single one has said that I’d need to have surgery. I’ve definitely improved my ability to breathe through my nose and I’m beginning to be able to sleep with my mouth closed. It’s way better for your teeth for your mouth to be closed when you sleep! Mewing is huge copium lol I’ve been a mouth breather most my life and I have an above average jaw you know why? Because my farther had a above average jawline so by genes I inherited it. It’s genes lol only way to manipulate facial structure outside of genetics is fillers or implants or braces

    • @coachpyry
      @coachpyry  Рік тому

      Great perspective. However, your view of it is limited because of the lack of appreciation of epigenetics.
      The simple explanation:
      Genes load the gun.
      Whether or not you come to realise your full genetic potential depends on whether you give your genes the right type of stress in the right magnitudes at the right times of development.
      This is the essence of epigenetics.
      Identical twins can grow to be wildly different looking and have very different health outcomes if their lifestyles and living environments differ from one another.
      Therefore, good for you that your jaw is above average, but maybe you could've looked like Brad Pitt with the right type of stress (proper tongue posture during critical periods of development) :)

    This is grasping at straws. Your main benefit of improved sleep is almost certainly if caused by anything just muscle memory training of your tongue that persists when you are unconscious.
    Idk if voluntarily giving yourself the mind virus of always being aware of your tongue is even worth the literal minimal results, if any are there. Again, if you're staring at professional pictures and constantly saying "I think I see something but cant put my finger on it", it literally has no daily effect in the way people perceive you in real life.
    And friendly bias reminder to the mewing zealots in the comments... the literal dental professional in the first year after said there was no difference. You are literally just seeing what you want to see.
