Surgeon Reacts to Elon Musk's Hair Transplant and talks about the advantages and disadvantages of doing FUT compared to FUE hair transplant procedure. Elon Musk's hair has gone through many changes throughout the years, and Dr. Gary Linkov estimates that this is mostly due to Elon Musk undergoing two FUT hair transplant procedures.

thats fair. Its a low effort joke, but id be lying if I didnt get a slight bit of humor out of the irony. Having a condition might make you feel like a jerk, but just remember, we are all just people.
I once told a guy who was being rude to me, "if you are gonna insult me at least look me in the eye when you say it" ... turned out he was blind and paralyzed in that eye. I felt like a dick for a second, until I remembered he had insulted me.

Dr. Linkov, I feel bad that you need to address your condition all the time. You look great with or without hair, and even if you were in a position to get surgery, it’s always the patient’s personal choice. So it shouldn’t matter what your profession is. I think it just speaks to people’s skepticism around the efficacy of hair transplants. They look at the fact that you haven’t done it and automatically assume it’s because you know something that we don’t.

This doctor is wayyy off with his transplant cost estimate..25k for 2500 grafts is the biggest ripoff in the world. Hasson will do about 2500 gr for 10k. And you could get 3500 grafts for 12-15k. Sooo Elon spent good money but it's attainable for the average guy as well. Also fin and minox is only worth it for certain cases, it's too harmful to be worth using long-term. Any one who continues to use it is doing so at a big risk. Better to go mostly vegetarian and take good natural supplements as well as practicing circulation to the head and proper hormone control. This doctor is ok but he's nothing special.

I empathise. All said, mine left for furrier pastures (the sewer) when I was in my early 20s, and I have always been self conscious. Mix of family genetics and at the time poor lifestyle choices (working late on computer developing AMX Pagemaker, excessive brushing*, little outdoor exercise). *I had very nice 70s like hair if that makes sense, but it was flyaway and difficult to control and style due to a mix of mum's straight hair and dad's curly. So I was constantly brushing and combing it, to no avail and I would nervously fidget with it, twirling it around my fingers.
Now I shave it short and all is good, except the sunburn when I forget my baseball cap!

It is so unfortunate we place such negative value on male baldness. As Dr. Gary suggests, the costs are formidable for the vast majority of men. Many women (if not most), think bald men are beautiful! Dr Gary is an example of this. What a beautiful person and man. I am a 62 year old happily married woman, but he would still turn my head :). My own husband became even more handsome when he gave in to his early hair loss and shaved his head. He too is a beautiful person which is what matters at the end of the day isn't it!! In the nursing profession we would probably call Dr. Gary (behind his back of course), Dr. McDreamy or something of that nature (LOL). Thank you for an informative presentation!!

It's not negative it's just you're not nearly as attractive as you would be with hair. Hair not only protects your head from the elements but it harmonizes and frames your face to your head. It's vital in attracting a mate. Most men would not be with a woman with the horseshoe shape pattern. Most young women do not like bald men as it makes you look way older. Hair loss sucks but our species has it and we need to do whatever we can to maximize our looks to secure a mate to procreate with

You could get this done in Turkey for 1/10 of the price it costs here with outstanding results. My friend got FUT done for thousand bucks there pre covid. He literally had no hair in the front and the top. He was 40 years old looking 50. 8-9 months after the transplant, he had a head full of hair and he still has. He looks 35 and girls are all over him. So amazing to see how hair could dramatically change someone's looks in a positive way. Unfortunately good things don't stay a secret. After covid and the currency exchange devaluation there, the word got out and everyone rushed to Turkey skyrocketing the prices along with it. After adding the flight+hotel expenses it's not cheap anymore but the results are still great.

Hi great video. Quick questions: Does the method that does the long scar (FUT i believe you said) create a tighter scalp and make the scalp uncomfortable? even to the point where it could make the face pull up at all? Is there more advanced techniques now that don't require a strip taken off as a big piece of real-estate back there (FUE maybe)? It would seem to me that the biggest trick you have to perform is determining if someone has enough donor area, and if they don't, you would not recommend this procedure at all or a much smaller impact procedure which wouldn't look as full as Elon Musk?

Thought at first your videos were some clickbait that would shame the people you were discussing....not at all. Thank you for a very logical step by step that explains procedures, costs and outcomes. Very informative and well done.

Great analysis and explanation! I learned so much about hair transplantation. My takeaway is to carefully select a competent surgeon, which is always tricky for outsiders to the medical community. I am also an Elon admirer. His intellect, drive and creativity seem super-human.

I came to learn about Elon Musks transplant but stayed because I'm impressed by how comfortable and confident you are despite your medical condition. It's inspiring for us who are losing hair to know it doesn't matter so much.

Despite his condition? One has nothing to do with the other. His ability to perform as a plastic surgeon and how he can confidently explain is due to his experience and expertise in his field.

I honestly wish I could accept my hairloss situation as well as you are handling it. Currently taking topical fin + oral min + duta + SAA's + Estriol just to keep a decent amount of hair on my head.

What are SAA's if you don't mind me asking 🤔

@@willyval08 Steroidial Anti-androgens. Like spironolactone and cyproterone acetate.
The idea is to reduce overall testosterone, then inhibiting what of that testosterone is converted into DHT.
Is it something I recommend, no never. I am only doing this off prescription as a last resort. I am effectively more or less a woman at this point.

I knew a guy back in 1978 who was only 30 and had a huge bald spot with a ring of hair around it. He had the kind of hair transplant they were doing back then which was essentially removing donor hair/skin with something similar to a hole punch and transplanted into an identical hole punched in the bald area. I watched a video on and it was pretty gruesome as they'd pull the punched out skin plug, twist then cut it. He didn't experience great results with that method. The plugs that survived the transplant made it look like he had a polka-dot head.

Hi Dr Gary, thanks for this video, what are your thoughts on Biofibre Transplants? is it safe in the long run - interns of getting injections etc ?
    Many Thanks

Derma rolling seems to help with alopecia. For me that really seems to bring back hair quickly after an alopecia areata episode. Also I have noticed that zinc and vitamin d supplementation seems to help as well.
