My question is will mewing show drastic changes to my face(I'm 19 years old currently) I'm hoping to see some visible changes in like a year or so I'll be glad if u respond to this, Thank You.
Mewing is unlikely to grow your jaws. However, you can still change your face. You can incorporate other facial exercises to add muscle into your face. You can exercise your tongue and upper airway muscles which will make you sleep better. Better sleep will make you look sharper and more pleasant. Finally, do you know how to keep your posterior tongue up? This improves your neck definition immediately. @@zed8243
@@coachpyry Yes I do, I was a late bloomer so I still kind of have the babyface and I don't look my age, that is why I asked the question Thank You for your Response
@@coachpyry it sounds like you have to keep this tension on your tongue all day which sounds dreadful. At what point can you stop doing this? Is it a lifetime thing? It sounds completely unnatural to walk around like this all day and go your work or whatever not to mention being conscious of your tongue all day.
Great question. However, it shows that you've misunderstood the point with "mewing". Let's not call it "mewing". Let's call it for what it is. It's the natural resting position of the tongue. You should not walk around focusing on it all day. The tongue should stay up there unconsciously. If it doesn't stay up there during the day, then there is a big change if it doesn't stay there during the night either, and because of your age, I'm going to be bold enough and say that you're dealing with some level of obstructive sleep apnea due to a smaller airway space because of that tongue that's resting lower in your airway than it's supposed to. (I know because I was even when I was 27 years old). Yes, change is always daunting, but the negative complications of not dealing with this right now will have even more horrendous repercussions (google about obstructive sleep apnea). You only need to be aware of the new habit during the re-training phase until you move towards unconscious competence. Right now, you've realised you don't do it unconsciously. You are "consciously incompetent". Next you have to become consciously competent through deliberate practice. Consistent, deliberate practice makes you unconsciously competent, at which point it's second nature and you don't have to waste any energy for it. @@gregm55mullen62
This is the first actually critical video ive ever seen about mewing and ive known about this stuff for 6 years. I greatly appreciate the effort as well as the honesty and transparency that went into this
For your xray picture just the teeth aligns better in the after photo, also there gonial angle has decreased and more space for the lower jaw, how come your dentist couldn't see any of this? There's a definitely a change not just in numbers but even visually. @@coachpyry
There's definitely a notable change. Mainly in the eyes and cheekbones. It takes years for adults to get full blown transformations. Do not stop! Your face is improving. am excited for you. just think how much better you will look in another year or 2.
@Grand Rapids same. I'm 29 y/o when I started it last year. Now I'm 30. My jawline, nose alar, and brow ridge keeps improving. People I passed by at malls even in public restrooms give me long stares especially the gay ones (no discrimination). I haven't experienced that before. It's still feels brand new to me.
This is literally a breath of fresh air. Been mewing a few days and both my sinuses have cleared like I couldn't remember. Wish I'd known about this decades ago. Better late than never.
@@coachpyry it's early to say, but I am feeling I may be sleeping deeper than usual. Excited to see how this develops.Anything that improves sleep is most welcome.
@@squirrelpatrick3670 Glad to hear. Any aesthetic changes are an excellent secondary bonus, but the actual ticket to feeling better and living a more fulfilling life is improving the quality of your sleep. Besides, some of the aesthetic changes can be explained simply by the fact that when you sleep better, you look less tired. If you are interested in sleep quality, perhaps you'd be interested in reading my detailed account of my experiences discovering that I had mild obstructive sleep apnea and all the different modalities I've tried and used to get rid of it. @@coachpyry will check out for sure. yes I came for the aesthetics but health improvement are the greater prize. Thank you for the encouragement! btw, you almost look like a different person in your photos, although I'd struggle to say exactly what the change is. edited to add: you got me, I've signed up 🙂
@@squirrelpatrick3670 Awesome, welcome to the team! I struggle to pinpoint exactly what the change is, but I suspect mostly a combination of increased facial muscle size and being less sleep deprived.
I'm 41. I've been mewing since 2019 and i also had Invisalign in 2020. My face has changed massively and i look like 30. Lots of people asked me if I had surgery or fillers cause i have such a youthful look
I was 28 when I started mewing and I would not say that my maxilla and jaw have grown but rather they have repositioned better and I think that is also what I noticed on your photos. But trust me, my profile has improved a lot. I also see that your photos do have a difference in your head angle and that might change the perception a bit.
Bro! This video is COMPLETELY underrated! This information it's actually really f*ucking useful!! Every video out there are pictures of teen kids growing up while mewing, and one can't really tell if it was mewing or if the kid just wasn't developed in the before picture. Or maybe both? Idk, the main point is that you made it very clear that is possible to change your face structure as an adult. The evidence you provide is the more legit I've ever seen, so thank you for this! I've been mewing for the past four months or so, and I was quite unmotivated because I'm not seeing much of a change. But after watching this video I've got my hopes up!
Thanks, Manuel, for the great feedback! Remember that the benefits of optimal tongue posture go beyond just the facial structure. The ability to breathe through the nose, get sick less often, tolerate more stress and sleep better will accelerate every aspect of your life. Facial aesthetics are just the cherry on top of the cake.
The more I look at the photos, the more you look like almost a completely different person. You're looking a lot better now, definitely keep going 🙌. As someone who's been mewing for a few years (started at 16 am 19 now) I've had a similar effect where I couldn't quite put a finger on why I was looking different but still looking a lot better
I can see the results and I have a keen eye for detail, your structure is developing that highly sought after bicycle seat shape seen in male models, I know models are super chiseled and shapely but I can see noticeable changes, keep doing it won't hurt.
As a doctor, cuz used to looking at subtle differences like this, your before and after pictures look completely different, yes they are small changes but very obvious to me, your bones are literally different places, that is so awesome, I'm going to start recommending my patients do this, especially the ones with sleep apnea or sinus issues
Thanks for sharing, glad to hear that! Any aesthetic changes are a cherry on top of the cake. Better breathing and sleep are the cake. What do you think of the updated shots? ua-cam.com/video/UvIvNsuj4dg/v-deo.htmlsi=JbHgtWXecgUbcrav
I was beyond surprised when I saw the number of subs that you had. The sheer quality of the videos, and the evidence based approach reminded me of a Jeff Nippard video. I'd estimate your production quality was similar to UA-camrs with around 100-200k. I hope you grow further on UA-cam! Keep up the good work, and thank you for helping us all out!
damn man, crazy differences! never expected that somebody your age would improve his facial aesthetics so much through mewing. very impressive, especially your eye area has improved a lot. i've been mewing for 4 months now - fingers crossed i'll be having similar results like you ;)
Thanks man! Well, as you can see in the X-Ray analysis, there was no significant jaw growth. Therefore I think that most of the “gains” are due to the progressive strength and conditioning training of the muscles of the face, tongue and throat. So, based on the above, I would recommend to supplement your tongue posture habit with some myofunctional exercises for the muscles of the face for the best results 👍
@@coachpyry i mean you're no longer 14 and can expect groundbreaking results but for what i can tell, your face has tremendously improved. there's no need to downplay your gains - or just don't set unrealistic expectations, keep in mind you've only been mewing for just over a year, i wonder how you might end up looking in 3 years when you continue mewing. i am currently hard mewing and occasionally chin tucking. on top of that i chew mastic gum every other day for half an hour to hypertrophy my masseter muscles.
I'm 24 with no hope, after your video and your age when you started you gave me SO MUCH hope .. mouth breathing made my eyes looks so so so tired, also I'm originally so beautiful like my mom but mouth breathing take this from me .. I'll start and I won't lose hope again your before and after photos are different you really got results ❤️
Hey @whocallednimi, thank you for sharing that. I'm glad to hear this video had that impact on you. I've written a thorough description of my journey and experiences with my orofacial problems, and I think you would benefit from reading it. You can find it halfway through this page. www.coachpyry.com/breathe
Other things to look at: practice chewing to strengthen your jaw as well. Forces your teeth to be pressed in (ie with harder gum). Ive been doing this now for about 3 months and my snoring has gone down 60% (!!!) I still have a long journey, but I think this stuff actually does seem to work. Im able to breath through my nose all the time now (up from only rarely last year).
To me the most visible difference in your before/after photos is your cheekbones. You had droopy, downturned and tired looking eyes before, bur after 1 year your cheekbones became more prominent and started to support your eyes better. Now you have smaller, more focused, more deep-set eyes and a better mid-face structure. It can also be seen in the 45 and profile shots. Keep it going man, you will look even better in the coming years!!
Definetly there is a difference. and for an adult to make this change in 1 year is significant, given you only did these exercises. Please continue, and update us... it would be Interesting to see after 5 years. Please Please continues and record and share your results yearly . Thank you for taking this upon you to and see if it works or not for all of us. my son is 14 years old, he might have a better chance because he is younger. But seeing your progress will be encouraging.
To me, there are very clear, visible differences between your before/after photos and x-rays. I would send your material toMike Mew and get him to explain exactly what those differences are. He's always interested in people who have measured the changes in the way that you have. Can you use a "measuring line" tool to measure potential growth in the second x-ray? A line starting and ending at the same points in each x-ray would tell you. Funny how your dentist said that there's no way of really telling because your posture is different in each of the x-rays. Well of course your posture is different - mewing has dramatically improved your oral, body and facial posture and that's clear to see!! That's what mewing does, as well as gradual expansion, which once again, I would say you have very clearly achieved. Orthodontic consensus gets a big fat "X" from me. Thanks so much for the video.
Thanks for sharing your opinion, Sandra! That’s exactly what a Jefferson analysis does. Specific landmarks are identified in the orofacial complex and these are compared with one another to see whether the bones have moved or not. I’m not trying to downplay the benefits of having your tongue against the roof of the mouth, however since there was no significant jaw growth (based on the Jefferson analysis), my best hypothesis for the more dramatic changes in the facial profile are due to increased muscle tone of the orofacial muscles. As explained in the video, I followed a progressive strength and conditioning training program for these muscles.
@@coachpyry okay, thanks for explaining. In that case, increasing muscle tone makes a huge difference! I'm definitely going to make more of a concerted effort here.
Confirmation bias is strong in this comment. The dentist is talking about head posture, not jaw posture, which means any measurement between the two x-rays will not match.
Your facial features have definitely improved. Your chin is larger and square and setting in a more forward position. If you carefully look at lower third of your face, you can see that it's much more projected. There's also a clear evolution with your gonial angle. Your mandibule is really better defined. Through my years of mewing I've discovered a technic to measure changes without X-rays. Your beard keeps the same location. But if you look carefully the way your beard is now surrounding your jaws, gonial angles and ramus is slightly different. My last obvious point is that your face seen from a front view is clearly larger.
Your "after" face looks healthier and your face is more handsome! There is definitely some sort of change, even if it's hard to define objectively. I think your efforts produced good results.
You’re very observant! My grief is that the angle of the head is slightly different too which makes the direct comparison a bit more difficult. Wait, are you talking about the X-ray or the photo?
At 13:10 you mentioned that the other dentist said that your head is slightly tilted, and might throw off the measurements. The dentist is wrong. It doesn’t matter if you standing on your head in the x-ray. All the measurements are taken relative to the bones in your skull, so it doesn’t matter how your head is tilted
I am terrible at noticing the differences beauty bloggers are always so thrilled about…but wow! I can see a very noticeable difference in your jaw! Keep it up!
I have been mewing for about 8 years now and my changes were pretty massive.... started at the start of 2015, would love to share my results. Changed my life! - Edited I am 34 now!
I started mewing in 2016 October, I was 18 at the time. I was not comfortable doing it for a year, so let’s say 2017. I only have slight changes and idk how much of that is due to aging. So there’s that.
In the first face forward mouth closed photo, I noticed that in the before photo, your mouth corners turn downwards in a frown position, whereas in the after photo, on both sides but especially your left, the corners begin to turn upwards, Also, in the before photos the eyes are large and almost show whites under the irises, while in the after photo the lower eyelids rise up to clearly cover the lower boundary of the irises. Also look at the eyes, drawing a horizontal line from side to side. In both photos the right eye is below the left (smaller maxilla/right side of face), but I think the right side rose up a little in the after photo. Adult bones do change in response to pressure or lack thereof, only much slower than children, naturally.
Thanks for sharing your detailed observations. Sure, but I've also been exercising my facial muscles. Do you think that some of the changes could be attributed to having more muscle in the face? Especially when it comes to the less frowning and less scleral show?
@@coachpyry Developing the facial muscles may contribute. However, you know that all muscles are anchored to and pull on bones. Exercising your facial muscles will therefore affect the bones as well. I don't believe it is one or the other alone, developing the muscles will develop the bones as a matter of course (it is one musculoskeletal system). In the before x-ray your upper and lower incisors barely meet. In the after x-ray you appear to have a very slight overbite of upper incisors. I don't think this is only due to head posture because if you angle your jaw downward so the roof of your mouth angles downward (before x-ray) this tends to retract the mandible, which contributes to overbite posture, and when you lift your head to make roof of mouth parallel to ground (after x-ray) this tends to move mandible forward, reducing overbites. But your x-rays show opposite, i.e. more underbite before and overbite after. This contributes to my thinking that the apparent changes measured may in fact be real. At the very least practicing good tongue posture seems to have produced a better positioning of maxilla to mandible (as well as better head posture). However, combined with the reduced showing of sclera, the measured and visible changes in x-ray, and upward movement of corners of mouth I am inclined to suspect a small forward and upward development of the maxilla. I am guessing the dentist/orthodontist who did the imaging does not think tongue posture can change bone development in adults. Therefore he is going to explain away any finding that causes cognitive dissonance for him. He might even view the idea as a threat to his livelihood, thinking "if people can correct their oral issues without my help, how do I make a living?" He's got skin in the game of professional interventions. In any case I wouldn't regard his one opinion as final word, and I certainly wouldn't abandon the practice. It will be interesting to see what changes in a another year of practice. Nothing to lose, at least you breathe better and sleep better by training tongue posture.
You bring up very interesting points. Actually, the practice I visited is very focused on "airway focused myofunctional preventative dentistry", albeit mostly for children, so yes, he might have biases for adults. In fact, I did already post the before/afters after another year of practice, in this video. What do you think? ua-cam.com/video/UvIvNsuj4dg/v-deo.html @@gainingstrength7859
When Mike talks about bone growth he is usually referring to patients under the age of 10 years old which is the focus of his practice. A person stops growing after 25 years old, mewing then becomes a practice in adults to form proper function of the jaw. In the results, even though your bone hasn't "grown" the slight increase in forward position is a healthier and more functional position for the face to be in. Even though mewing wont make your bones grow it will change the STRUCTURE of your skull.
@@sweetbeep The Maxilla (upper Jaw) and Mandible (Lower Jaw) are seperate bones connected via the jaw joint and its the position of these two in relation to each other that creates the position of the jaw. healthy and good looking position of the jaw is up and forward and craniofacial dystrophy (unhealthy and unattractive) occurs when the jaw is set back and down because of a forward head position which is a symptom of overall bad posture. space in the mouth and width of the face can also be naturally increased through mewing because the bones arent rigid but have these sutures running inbetween them which creates room for expansion when the tongue applies pressure to the roof of the mouth. (if you dont undestand look it up). Muscle tone can also have an apparent affect on the aesthetics of the face but not as impactful as bone structure. And also bad posture can be influenced by the muscles in and around the jaw and neck if they are tightened (shortened) or relaxed (lengthened)
Good video. 40 yrs of Saxophone playing made me aware of tongue shape. Tongue high increases air pressure to the instrument. It has made me a better player. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
Excellent video! I was researching lately the effectiveness of mewing/jaw excercises and this has been the more legitimate evidence I have seen so far.
Cheers! I think that the question is: Effective for what? The term mewing can be misleading. In my opinion, it should be called "optimal tongue posture". The funny thing is that you don't need any evidence. All you need is to look at the anatomy of the upper airway. The very moment you find the optimal tongue posture, your upper airway will dilate, and it will become easier to breathe. Very effective if you ask me! Not to mention the observed benefits of a stronger tongue and nasal breathing on snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. What kind of benefits have you noticed so far?
9:25 can easily be mistaken for some type of jaw improvement but all it is is lower bodyfat and a slight upward face tilt with groomed facial hair to make the jawline more visible.
Thank you for sharing your opinion. Really appreciate it. I agree about the body fat. I've been helping people lose body fat since 2016, and every person who has been successful has changed the way their face and jaw look. I did not measure body fat levels between these photos, but I'd actually say that my body composition remained pretty much the same. The other thing that makes things murky is the amount of fluid retention. Poor sleep, which is what I used to have, increases water retention in the body, and also in the face. I was sleeping million times better in the second photo, which could also explain some of the visual change. @@coachpyry Brother please do a video when the year ends to see any progress. Youre the only adult (above 25) that have done this. It would be very valuable for the mewing community.
@@coachpyryThanks for answering bro. You dont have to do an xray again bro. Just take some good quality pictures, from the side particularly. Search "A year with good habits" and go to 21:30, you could do something similar to that. Cheers bro
You have the best videos on this. It's funny that when someone else has a problem, like snoring - all their relations find out a lot of stuff as well benefitting us all. I had a few teeth taken out as a child and that can alter the state of the mouth and affect breathing and the shape of the jaw. Found out about this from James Nestor's book Breath.
in the profile photo and on the X-ray it is clearly seen that the chin area was pulled up very strongly, the hyoid bone moved higher, and the position of the skull relative to the spine changed, the lower part of the face with the chin moved forward. that's because of the change in posture, not the bones. but this is a very cool result anyway
You can clearly see changes in your eyes and cheekbones. No need for taking the before and after mewing pictures with a grain of salt! Keep it up! Thanks for the great video.
Thanks for sharing, but you missed the point. Please keep taking them with a grain of salt. I think that the primary reason for the sharper eyes and higher appearing cheekbones is increased muscle mass in the face due to my face muscle training program, not mewing.
Hey Coach, great video. Also surprised you don't have more subs. I had/have open bite and a cross bite, due to tongue thrust as a youth. Didn't get braces to attempt to fix it until I was 30. Had braces twice now. It's mostly fixed the open bite but not the cross bite, nor the under developed maxilla. I had a strong bottom jaw and underbite. Thankfully they only removed one molar from the top, but they did take two from the bottom. I also suffered from issues breathing through my nose due to deviated septum etc etc but I'm sure it was all related. I started doing tongue retraining in my 30's when I got my first set of braces and it definitely helped a lot to retrain the default position of the tongue. But only now just trying to actually mew more regularly and consistently at age 41. Keep up the great videos. Keen to see a progress X ray in another year or two!
Have you tried OMT (strength training of the tongue and upper airway muscles) to help with breathing? I’m looking forward for advancements in technology to ease the pain, time and cost associated with putting the missing legos back where they came from!
Quality content, thank you for a good video. I think you look better in the more recent photos. However, I think you're tilting your head up slightly more in the newer picture (I still think there's progress).
Great video! I have to say that I see a huge difference in the second picture that you show. I am no expert but I have to say that there is a better structure (o whatever is called) in the "after" photo. Even thou your dentist said that there might not be any difference because of the posture, I will keep up on mewing. It is true that when you keep your tongue resting under your hard palate you breath in a better way.
Thanks Augusto! Personally I believe that most of the difference is due to increased muscle size of the facial muscles as a result of progressive OMT training. Definitely keep using the optimal tongue posture, it's always nice to breathe well as a human! :)
I see some clear differences. Specifically: 1) To me it is clear as day in the profile shots (10:00) that your chin is now farther forward. In the before pics, you can see that the tip of your chin is directly in line with the tip of your bottom lip. But in the after pics, it is farther forward (even after correcting for the slight backward tilt of your head in the afters.) 2) In the profile shots (10:00) look at the line of your cheek right at the end of your mustache where your face crease is. On the left, the line is straight down. On the right, it clearly bows forward. 3) In all the before pictures, the corners of your mouth droop down into a very slight frown. In all the after pictures, they turn slightly up into a very slight smile. This could just be due to your expression at the time. 4) In all pics, the exposed surface of your eyes appears to be narrower than in the before shots. Possible you're just "squinching" ever so slightly, but usually squinching is betrayed by creases at the edge of your eyes. Not as sure about this one though because it seems as though the after profile shots were taken from a slightly higher angle. Have you kept up with mewing in the past year? Noticed any changes? Cheers
Thanks for sharing your observations. You have a very keen eye for detail. I certainly have, and I've made an updated video here: ua-cam.com/video/UvIvNsuj4dg/v-deo.html What do you think?
8:56 the "S" Shape or Ogee Curve (or whatever you would call it) looks much more pronounced and improved, from cheeks to your chin (which now seems to stand out much more defined). Before everything was more like one vertical line, now you seem to have more of a curve. Even though it is hard to really see it as we don't see your face in exactly the same angle there? It is really hard to judge. The only way to know is for you to keep going and keep tracking the results like that! (13 months is not really a lot of time for a grown-up to make a real difference). Still somehow you do look different and your posture on all the after-photos is much better as well.
I think the differences are pronounced, and yes, next time if you do before/after photos, you should be clean shaven. Would be curious if you showed these x-rays to Mike Mew himself through a zoom discussion....to see what he'd say.
It’s unfortunate that people like myself had a lot of teeth removed as a child. My orthodontist removed 6 teeth and I always think I would look so much better with more teeth. My mouth is small and seems smaller as i age and my jaw is not proportionate. I have always suffered breathing issues since as a child and I honestly think children would benefit so much from this technique. And yes I notice a huge difference in your photos. You honestly look like a different person. Could be the hair and facial hair but still you look noticeably different and substantially
Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to hear that, and I agree. This should be taught to all mothers of newborns. How is your sleep quality these days? Have you heard of orofacial myofunctional training?
Sorry to hear that. For example, here is a 2017 paper that concludes it can reduce obstructive sleep apnea by 50%, even in moderate apnea cases (15+ wake-ups per hour). www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4402674/ Personally, I tried everything from mouth taping to nasal breathing exercises to a mandible advancement split (which cost over $2000), and the thing that transformed my sleep quality within a matter of days was orofacial myofunctional training. Let me know if you'd like some tips on how to get started!
@@lorae7 ther is an app, SnoreGym, it helps me. It is basically mewing, I came to this trough sleep apnea. It is exercises to strengthen the tongue, throat, jaw muscles... so that your tongue doesn't fall and choke you. btw I had to pull my teeth out in my 30s, 2 I really had to because they were already inflamed, but they wanted to pull 3 more of them because "they are useless". So all together they would remove 5! I did not allow it, I allowed just the 2 inflamed ones. Even with 2 surgical opinions. It was more logical to me to keep the teeth, even if they are useless... somehow better to live with useless teeth than to have none?? I mean they don't touch and have grown in a bit false directions. Later I started reading Breath from James Nestor, I think he was the inspo for this whole mewing uprising and popularisation. he said that removing the teeth creates the apnea. I am really happy I didn't pull them out. I did not finish it yet but it is very informational, I noticed that Mike Mew from Orthotropics pulls a lot of info from there.
The problem with making videos of these exercises is that the ones that are the most powerful ones require fine motor control of the face, tongue and upper airway muscles. You need to follow a logical series of progressions from very simple tasks to those more complex and challenging exercises. That's why I call it progressive orofacial myofunctional training. I've created a six week program which includes the exact progression of exercises I've used and progressive breathing re-training exercises. The program is called Breathe Sleep Perform, and you can find out more from: www.coachpyry.com/breathe
The difference between the left and right is very different. If you put a ruler on the each photo and draw a line from the top of the forehead at the hairline to the tip of your nose on both photos you will see a big difference in the angle of the slope of your face. Then measure the angle of both photos and you will see how much you have changed. The angels of the whole face has changed and looks much better than before. I haven’t even seen the whole video as I’m writing this yet. It has definitely been a positive change. Well done.
Min 10:20… yes, your jawline is longer and more pronounced. The face before is slightly longer and “flatter” as is common with mouth breathers. I see your jaw is longer in profile now. ❤
On the side shots your head is tilted backwards more, this makes the chin look stronger and the jaw more defined. It's evident looking at the forehead and the straight lines in the background. Same thing for the front shots. I can't tell if you also pushed your face forward, but if you did it would make even more difference. It's all about posture, not structural changes.
Interesting pickups. Thanks for sharing. I agree. The X-ray verifies that there were minimal structural changes. I hypothesize that the visual changes are due to increased muscle tone in the facial muscles following a progressive orofacial muscle training program.
You're right from the side view we can see that your maxillary complex has moved forward. You have better cheekbones and orbit structure. Unfortunately as you had teeth extraction your progress in this department will be limited at some point.
Yeah, that’s truly unfortunate.. The best I can do is to share the information and pass it on to my own future children. If time machines become available, let me know so that I can travel back to fix the situation 🤣
I had huge changes, started at 20 and now I'm 24. In about 2 years I got big improvements because I didn't just mew like everyone else, I wore a sleep mask to my sleep. That made me have changes every 2 weeks versus months to see any result (yes I tested it). I was pretty recessed before
Maxilla may not have grown, but difference is visible. Jaws may have repositioned better, jaw muscles toned up etc. Chewing hard stuff and drinking thick liquids through straw is also great for face training and neck training helps define the face too.
I wasn't able to breath through both nostrils before , then after a couple of weeks of hard mewing for like 20 minutes a day , I'm now able to breath through both nostrils......which before I just thought it was just not possible, this tells me it does work , but based on this video and others I've seen , if you are past puberty , its gonna be harder and its gonna take much longer to see obvious results because in your mid 20s your bones have harden ,its gonna take more force and a longer time.
In my opinion your eyes have more support after. Your eyes show lesser sclera under your pupils, that is a good thing. The eyes look more deep set (before more pottruding). In your video when talking i can see your midface is more compacter. I see great results.
dude, i don't know if you are blind or something, but your face looks completely different after one year, i'm not saying this to "validate" you but literally from the facts, you look like a chad now. Also thanks for bringing this experiment to us.
You do look better in the after photos. The structure in the cheek is enhanced. Good job. I too had teeth removed as a child for crowding. But as an adult, I just intuitively knew my tongue didn’t rest properly in my mouth. I developed filet marks on the sides of my tongue from resting my tongue on my lower teeth and that bothered me, making me feel like I had a fat tongue. My tongue was normal, it was my palate that was too small. I asked my orthodontist about tongue posture and he didn’t have any answers. I found Dr Mew by accident, searching for answers my orthodontist could not provide. I’ve been mewing for about a year, no more filet marks on my tongue, more comfort and it’s easy to do. Thank you.
Hey man great changes, people saying there are no differences on your face are dumbs haha, they not saw your x rays, i heard from Andrew Huberman that you can change the structure of your face across the lifespan because sutures on the head are not sealed until 68 to 72 years, my conspiranoic thought is dentist and orthodontist dont share this information and they know it because they want to have a lot of work because that represents a lot of money and thats a huge business and that suits them 🥸
I think this was a great video, and I see no intentions in the creator on trying to disprove mewing at all. More of him trying his best to find the truth. There's a channel I recommend you checking out called 'It's all connected' (used to be called The Mewing Channel) where a guy is keeping track of his year's progress. It's quite a dramatic improvement, I'd like to read your opinion.
I can see a change in your face , the cheekbones look wider, and your face on your profile looks more forward, so I would say it has worked or is working
Thanks for sharing your observations. Something has worked, I just don't think it is bone growth. I think it's more muscle in the face due to progressive myofunctional training. Have you heard of it?
I have been mewing for 2 years now I'm very happy with the results even tho it's not a vast difference Always remember it's not about how long it's about how perfectly you do it
Well, knowing what proper tongue posture does to airway shape, it would be ideal to have the tongue carpeted against the roof as much as possible. Maybe you should compliment your mewing with progressive strength and conditioning exercises for the muscles of your face 👍 (Orofacial myofunctional training)
I just find out about this name mewing about a week ago through my chiropractor because a i told her to check jaws because numbness in top of my ear She told I was okey I mentioned to her about my teeth that are totally.wore out to the roots that's when. She mentioned this mewing I'm 60 years old I have been seeing my dentist every ,6 months They been seeing how the top of my teeth are disappearing but they never told me any just ask me if wore a night guard always answer yes til 5 years ago they give the news that I was in need of total bite reconstruction 50 thousands dollars which I think not to many people are ready to spend So today watching this video I will give it a try because She said that when the tongue stays on top of the palate no grinding no snoring good luck.
Hey Aurelio, thank you for sharing. Geez, 50k... I bet that it would be great but meanwhile, there are other things that are completely free that will reduce the chances of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/cISWPnU94Ok/v-deo.html Hopefully it helps!
I’ve had braces twice in my life. Once as a teen, once as an adult. 13months isn’t long enough for a major shift in an adults bones, it will take a lot longer. Also, those minor shifts you mention are very significant. “A millimeter is a mile” where your teeth are concerned. Keep measuring and reporting every 12months. It would be great to see. 😁

My question is will mewing show drastic changes to my face(I'm 19 years old currently)
I'm hoping to see some visible changes in like a year or so
I'll be glad if u respond to this, Thank You.
@@zed8243
@@coachpyry Yes I do, I was a late bloomer so I still kind of have the babyface and I don't look my age, that is why I asked the question
Thank You for your Response

I definitely see a difference. Your jaw may not have grown but your muscle tone has improved the shape of your face dramatically
Cheers! I attribute that to my orofacial myofunctional strength training program. Have you ever tried training your face muscles?
damn man, crazy differences! never expected that somebody your age would improve his facial aesthetics so much through mewing. very impressive, especially your eye area has improved a lot. i've been mewing for 4 months now - fingers crossed i'll be having similar results like you ;)

Thanks for sharing Paola, I certainly will!
Thanks for sharing those observations, let’s hope that you are right!
Definetly there is a difference. and for an adult to make this change in 1 year is significant, given you only did these exercises. Thank you for taking this upon you to and see if it works or not for all of us. my son is 14 years old, he might have a better chance because he is younger. Thanks sir, will do. Your son is a lucky man!
@@sorcha3811 Awesome, let me know how you go!
You are not dentist, bro.
Thank you for sharing, great to hear your opinions!
Your "after" face looks healthier and your face is more handsome! There is definitely some sort of change, even if it's hard to define objectively. I think your efforts produced good results.
Thanks for sharing, appreciate you taking the time to comment!
In the side on view your nose has a different angle it is slanted back more and the tip is up more....this is good.
You’re very observant! My grief is that the angle of the head is slightly different too which makes the direct comparison a bit more difficult. Wait, are you talking about the X-ray or the photo?
change is incremental ~

At 13:10 you mentioned that the other dentist said that your head is slightly tilted, and might throw off the measurements.
The dentist is wrong.
It doesn’t matter if you standing on your head in the x-ray.
All the measurements are taken relative to the bones in your skull, so it doesn’t matter how your head is tilted

I started mewing in 2016 October, I was 18 at the time. I was not comfortable doing it for a year, so let’s say 2017. I only have slight changes and idk how much of that is due to aging. So there’s that.
@mexifry222 I don't really want to make a video, how can I share photos?
@@danch10 upload to to imgur and share the link.
Thanks for sharing the perspective! According to many other orthodontists, the maxilla stops growing at the age of 7 and the mandible in late teens.
That’s completely untrue and unscientific. Nothing biological ever stops growing until it dies
B ones dont grow after 25 the structural change is the " growth" we are looking for
You mean the muscular posture?
@@sweetbeep
The Maxilla (upper Jaw) and Mandible (Lower Jaw) are seperate bones connected via the jaw joint and its the position of these two in relation to each other that creates the position of the jaw. healthy and good looking position of the jaw is up and forward and craniofacial dystrophy (unhealthy and unattractive) occurs when the jaw is set back and down because of a forward head position which is a symptom of overall bad posture. space in the mouth and width of the face can also be naturally increased through mewing because the bones arent rigid but have these sutures running inbetween them which creates room for expansion when the tongue applies pressure to the roof of the mouth. (if you dont undestand look it up). Muscle tone can also have an apparent affect on the aesthetics of the face but not as impactful as bone structure. And also bad posture can be influenced by the muscles in and around the jaw and neck if they are tightened (shortened) or relaxed (lengthened)

@@Juan-yj2nn I will, however I won’t be going under an X- Ray because of this anymore since it can have serious negative health implications.
@@coachpyryThanks for answering bro. You dont have to do an xray again bro. Just take some good quality pictures, from the side particularly.
Search "A year with good habits" and go to 21:30, you could do something similar to that.
Cheers bro
@@Juan-yj2nn Will do, cheers!
definitely look better on the right side !
Cheers glad to hear!
Instructions unclear, but now all the cats in my neighbourhood are following me around
HAHHAHAH! Good one. Mew.
Definitely the best mewing video I found on internet, greetings pal
Very glad to hear that, thank you for sharing that!
Started mewing at the age of 14! blessed results so far. i've had so much maxilla growth the past few months
Good for you
I gained about 1 inch but still can remain hard for at least 10 minutes. It's also wider.
What innthe heck are you talking about?
@@dimitar297impressive. Your boyfriend’s jaw muscles must be looking great as a result
@@dimitar297bruh what lol
Yes very noticeable, it looks better younger, and stronger features. Jaw even the bridge of your nose, eyes look healthier too.
Cheers! Thanks for sharing.
I literally started getting that oxygen high right after I started mewing. Goodness this is incredible!
Who would’ve thought better airflow would be good for humans? 😄 Glad to hear!
Me too
You have the best videos on this. It's funny that when someone else has a problem, like snoring - all their relations find out a lot of stuff as well benefitting us all. I had a few teeth taken out as a child and that can alter the state of the mouth and affect breathing and the shape of the jaw. Found out about this from James Nestor's book Breath.
Thanks for sharing, glad to hear that you're enjoying the videos. I wish they knew better back then! Let me know if you discover a time machine.
in the profile photo and on the X-ray it is clearly seen that the chin area was pulled up very strongly, the hyoid bone moved higher, and the position of the skull relative to the spine changed, the lower part of the face with the chin moved forward. that's because of the change in posture, not the bones. but this is a very cool result anyway
Thanks for sharing, explains why it’s so much easier to breathe these days!
Amazing video 👌
Thank you Patrik!
I can see a difference. Keep going!
Thanks for sharing! Will do!
Thanks for sharing Scott, and thanks for the feedback!
Have you tried OMT (strength training of the tongue and upper airway muscles) to help with breathing?
I’m looking forward for advancements in technology to ease the pain, time and cost associated with putting the missing legos back where they came from!
Well done for the honesty 👍✨
Thanks for engaging! It's a nice change, isn't it! :)
Quality content, thank you for a good video. I think you look better in the more recent photos. However, I think you're tilting your head up slightly more in the newer picture (I still think there's progress).
Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I wish the head angle was exactly the same. I'll pay extra attention to these in the next progress shots.
Drastic positive change. Even the slightest millimeter of movement can make quite a difference in the appearance of the human face.
Thanks for sharing. True, same with better breathing and sleeping!
if you ask me, there is a significant change. well done, good video
Thanks for sharing! What do you think of the updated shots last year? ua-cam.com/video/UvIvNsuj4dg/v-deo.html&lc=UgyL2LamLZaeuvHaz3p4AaABAg
The cheekbones are more prominent on your after pictures. That’s what’s different. So is your head posture. 😊
Thanks for sharing! What do you think about the updated shots? ua-cam.com/video/UvIvNsuj4dg/v-deo.html
I see some clear differences. Specifically:
1) To me it is clear as day in the profile shots (10:00) that your chin is now farther forward. In the before pics, you can see that the tip of your chin is directly in line with the tip of your bottom lip. But in the after pics, it is farther forward (even after correcting for the slight backward tilt of your head in the afters.)
2) In the profile shots (10:00) look at the line of your cheek right at the end of your mustache where your face crease is.
I certainly have, and I've made an updated video here:
ua-cam.com/video/UvIvNsuj4dg/v-deo.html
What do you think?
My jaws are fine. I was under the impression that we were going to be pretending we’re cats.
Carry on.
Hahah 😅 What a disappointment it must’ve been to realise I wasn’t mewing in the video
Definitely there were changes. Keep going!
Thanks for sharing! Will do!
Looks the same lol
Thanks for sharing! What do you think of the updated shots? ua-cam.com/video/UvIvNsuj4dg/v-deo.html&lc=UgyL2LamLZaeuvHaz3p4AaABAg
I think the differences are pronounced, and yes, next time if you do before/after photos, you should be clean shaven. Would be curious if you showed these x-rays to Mike Mew himself through a zoom discussion....to see what he'd say.
Thanks for sharing! Well now I gotta keep it consistent with the first photos. What do you think of the 2023 updated shots? (another video)
@@coachpyry sleep is not great and no I’ve never heard of that but I will look into it!
Sorry to hear that. For example, here is a 2017 paper that concludes it can reduce obstructive sleep apnea by 50%, even in moderate apnea cases (15+ wake-ups per hour). www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4402674/
Personally, I tried everything from mouth taping to nasal breathing exercises to a mandible advancement split (which cost over $2000), and the thing that transformed my sleep quality within a matter of days was orofacial myofunctional training.
Hello
Thank you for this valuable information. I am interrested of knowing more about MT, would you please help me?
YES. This gives me hope. Back teeth are now aligned. Great job.
Glad it helped!
Can you please share with us the other exercises you did along with the mewing?
Thank you for the informative video. I’m def subscribing for more!
The program is called Breathe Sleep Perform, and you can find out more from:
www.coachpyry.com/breathe
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video and welcome to the channel!
Well done.

Great video. Well done sir 👏
Cheers!
Min 10:20… yes, your jawline is longer and more pronounced. The face before is slightly longer and “flatter” as is common with mouth breathers. I see your jaw is longer in profile now. ❤
Thanks for sharing!
His structure has improved and has had an upswing @coachpyry
U sound like a coping orthodontist who is worried about his business lol
definitely there is a difference. I know this vid is 2 years old so maybe more changes since then. But quite an improvement/difference.
Cheers! Here is an updated version from last year : ua-cam.com/video/UvIvNsuj4dg/v-deo.htmlsi=amNT14-ib9LHZslM
Think is the study everyone wanted
I think so too!
I had huge changes, started at 20 and now I'm 24. In about 2 years I got big improvements because I didn't just mew like everyone else, I wore a sleep mask to my sleep. That made me have changes every 2 weeks versus months to see any result (yes I tested it). I was pretty recessed before
Great that it worked for you! May I ask what kind of sleep mask you used?
sure would be interested too to know which mask it was and what was the purpose of it. Cheers
@@layn7115 just any eye sleep mask but put under the chin not over eyes. It made me mew automatically all night
Thanks for sharing your experiences! Have you noticed any changes in your breathing and sleep quality? Did you try any other myofunctional exercises?
@@coachpyry Yes both improved. No to exercises.
Dude you're so humble, i see mad change omg.

Maxilla may not have grown, but difference is visible. Jaws may have repositioned better, jaw muscles toned up etc.
Chewing hard stuff and drinking thick liquids through straw is also great for face training and neck training helps define the face too.
Thanks for sharing your observations. I do like to eat steaks :) What's your favourite hard thing to chew on?
The lighting could have been better. You have shadows around the eye area in both pics. A softer look on the pic w more hair.
I agree. Someone said that the left photo looks like my evil twin 😂
Yes holding your tongue in the most anatomically advantageous position will make it easier to breathe through the nose.
What a well put together video
Thank you Yaya!
In my opinion your eyes have more support after. Your eyes show lesser sclera under your pupils, that is a good thing. The eyes look more deep set (before more pottruding). In your video when talking i can see your midface is more compacter. I see great results.
Thanks for sharing D! 👊
you had a longer face, and recessed maxila, it improved even tho "your too old", im happy for you
Thanks for sharing your observations
dude, i don't know if you are blind or something, but your face looks completely different after one year, i'm not saying this to "validate" you but literally from the facts, you look like a chad now. Also thanks for bringing this experiment to us.
Thanks for sharing! Haha, glad to hear.
His face is tanned
Thank you.
Glad to hear, good for you! Have you noticed any changes in your breathing or sleep quality?
Hey man great changes, people saying there are no differences on your face are dumbs haha, they not saw your x rays, i heard from Andrew Huberman that you can change the structure of your face across the lifespan because sutures on the head are not sealed until 68 to 72 years, my conspiranoic thought is dentist and orthodontist dont share this information and they know it because they want to have a lot of work because that represents a lot of money and thats a huge business and that suits them 🥸
Cheers, thanks for sharing! You might be right :)
more mid face support and less scleral show on the right side. you have visible improvements
Thanks for sharing!
Anyway, extremely comprehensive and detailed video, great job!
Thanks man, I appreciate it alot!
Thanks, Driskoll, that's exactly my intention. I'll check it out!
I have been mewing for 2 years now I'm very happy with the results even tho it's not a vast difference
Always remember it's not about how long it's about how perfectly you do it
Well, knowing what proper tongue posture does to airway shape, it would be ideal to have the tongue carpeted against the roof as much as possible.
Maybe you should compliment your mewing with progressive strength and conditioning exercises for the muscles of your face 👍 (Orofacial myofunctional training)
I see a huge difference !!! Keep going ! I’m definitely going to do it !!!
Glad to hear Gabriella!
Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/cISWPnU94Ok/v-deo.html
Hopefully it helps!
How was the treatment as an adult? What was the goal and was it achieved?
Im 32 but have experienced extreme stuff to my jaw, not mewing but from changing habits, and now mewing Im trying to fix the assymetry I caused. Im quite sure face changes all the time mildly but more so if habits change, or something extreme happens like bruxism tmj, dental work, botox in jaw, posture changes , nose deviation ( i have all these and my face changed a lot last years! )
