  • Have you ever heard of autophagy, the process by which your body cleans out damaged cells and regenerates new ones?
It's a powerful way to boost your health and longevity, and many people turn to fasting as a way to trigger autophagy. But how long do you need to fast to get the benefits?
In this video, we're going to explore a new study that found you can increase autophagy with as little as a 17-19 hour fast, done for 30 straight days. That's right - you don't need to starve yourself for days on end to tap into the power of autophagy!
We'll explain the science behind autophagy and how fasting can help, share the details of the study, and offer some practical tips for anyone who wants to try this short fasting routine for themselves. So, if you're curious about how to unlock the benefits of autophagy without extreme fasting, be sure to check out this video!

makes sense cause if you fast everyday even if 16:8, you already depleted your glycogen storage in the liver so no need to fast more than 24 hours. 8-12 hours fasting already depleted glycogen storage then you got 4 hours of cellular repair and recycling of protein.

Started a routine for hitting 3/6 day alternating pro-longed/intermittent fasts every other week (liquids-switching between pure water, electrolytes, and herbal nootropics then protein shakes and super green drink mixes), alongside my athletic fitness training, regular healthy protein/fat/fiber diet, constant electrolytes, and much mindful meditation in order to optimize brain function/cognitive processing, intuitive perception, and overall well-being. 👁️👑💪🏽🚀💫

Thanks, Biff. I really do prefer the shorter fast 16 to 18 hours. I generally only do OMAD on Sundays.

The point of longer fasts is that autophagy increases exponentially after around 3 days so if you're fasting to heal the body then it will have a faster effect than intermittent fasting.

First I’d like to know what he considers a nice uptick in autophagy. Second keep in mind it’s going to take you up to a month to get this increase. Also keep in mind that you are not drinking any water, or showering, when the sun is up… personally I’d rather sip ice tea for a few days without the bother of eating… then go on a day long desert march every day… for thirty days…

Please tell me is it good for menopausal women to fast longer than 14 hours? I think that fasting longer than 14 hours isn't good for women in menopause, it rises cortisol and messes up all other hormones. I'm 53 years old and in menopause, I'm on keto and fasting every day 16-18 hours...but I don't know is it good for us in menopause. Sorry for my bad English, it isn't my domestic language. Thanks.

I would first say run it by your doctor, but I think you can go 16 hours with no issues as long as you’re eating well, sleeping and living an active lifestyle.
I’m 60 years old and my wife is around the same age and we’ve been fasting for over 12 years. I also have numerous clients my age and older doing really well with it.
But everybody’s body is different and you do have to experiment.

How long you took this fasting, and please tell me all your routine, like which vitamins you took and how, is it the same vitamin and supplements we buy from medicine store ,, don't they cause any trouble because we don't each during autophagy only water? Please

Like everyone said he left out a lot of details.
From every thing I’ve read autophagy is going to peak some where between three and six days but even then it’s a slow decline. At nine days it might be same as three days with a peak a six days…
Also this is Ramadan so you are not drinking, til night fall , figure 12 hours with a drop of water hitting your lips. Also remember that the people doing these fasts live in the desert.
Plenty of heat all day long…

The are very few human tests or trials for autophagy they have really only been carried out on mice so the is little understanding of its human application it is all speculation that x amount is the best these people simply do not know. For example, your cells go in and out of autophagy as it is, doing the job anyway.
