I have water fasted on and off for 50 years, I have done 3 day 5 day most of the time but 20 years ago I did a 28 day fast that was amazing, all my allergies to pollen, and cats went away and have lasted all these years. @@redriverbluesman I'll be 68 next month. I don't know of any other seniors on this plan. Most people I've talked to say that their doctors say that this is extreme. Well, of course it is! I spent years taking meds and only got worse as time went by. To me, it makes sense, but most people I talk to hesitate to use this method. I was hesitant myself when I first started, but my decline was accelerating and I was desperate. Desperate times require desperate measures! I was having trouble getting around, but now I'm active and energetic. I split firewood with an axe, mow my one acre lawn with a push mower, and I'm contemplating running again. It's amazing the things that I don't even consider as food any longer.

Currently, I’ve done 23:1 fasting protocol (one meal a day) for 21 days. I did one 48 hour fast during that time as well. I feel clear, energetic, brain fog and aches and pains in my body are gone. After the first day or two, it became incredibly easy. All cravings disappeared and I hardly think about food and snacks like I used to when I used to eat 3 meals a day + snacks. I’m also exercising about a half hour a day, and feeling stronger all the time. I plan to do this forever!

I've been enjoying a 23:1 OMAD strategy since July, and threw in a 9-Day starve a month ago to produce Stem Cells in abundance, truly enter and remain in ketosis, give my gut and pancreas a nice holiday, smack any unknown cancer cells about a little, restore a proper level of insulin sensitivity, and cleanse my liver of as many fatty deposits as possible.
Daily drinking lemon-infused water (sometimes with ACV as well) is enough to prevent hunger pangs for me, so long as I keep ahead of them kicking in at about the 8 hour mark until the 12. The rest is just "eyes on the prize" for a leaner, healthier, longer future. If I feel as though I might have a snack or a meal "out of hours", I watch an informative and inspiring presentation such as this to remind me of the benefits I'd be throwing away that day.

I started 2024 with lifestyle changes. - So far this has included a 24 hour fast. -- today i'm going for a 36 hour fast to see what the impact on my weight will be. -- the main benefit from the one fast I did, - It has been easy to go into intermittent fasting, I have lost cravings for a lot of food including takeaways.
I made the decision to change my lifestyle after becoming very stressed and anxious as well as being obese since 2020- a few walks cured that mental state -- i'm still struggling with sleep.. so that's next on my to do list!

I've been intermittent fasting since 2020. I have lost 40 pounds and stopped taking metformin. My blood sugar is almost completely normal. I have seen some interesting reverse aging effects, as well. I don't do full keto, but order fruit instead of bread, avoid processed sugar, and never drink calories. I normally don't eat breakfast, and will typically eat either lunch and dinner, or just one. I have noticed that it's important for me to have at least one day a week when I eat a lot, otherwise my metabolism slows down and defeats the whole purpose. I also try to do an extended fast at least once a year; I'm currently about 42 hours in, and seeing if I can go a full three days.

I’m still trying to gather my fasting lifestyle together. I realized this year that my body LOVES fasting. When I look and feel bloated, nothing helps except a total fast. I have digestive issues as well, and it really assists with that. I’m a teacher, so over the summer holiday, I did some complete fasting (7 days water fast, 5 days dry fast). I felt great. I am currently on school winter holiday so doing a 72-hour fast before Christmas.
In the New Year, I would like my fasting schedule to be alternate day fasting, with a 48-hour fast weekly or every 2 weeks. I personally don’t need to eat every day, because my body still has fuel left over from the previous day, and even a 24-hour fast helps me feel fantastic.
    Thanks for the video.

Real testimony: I didn’t eat for a week (Sunday to Sunday, 168 hours), just water. I lost 9 pounds. By day five I had bradycardia and I felt very weak. The worst part came after I finished the fasting. My parotids got swollen due to lack of saliva flow during the fasting. It took me almost five days to recover from that painful condition. Would I repeat it? Nope. But now I know the sweet spot for extended fasting is 72 hours. I'm doing it every three months.

Thank you Kait. The video is short, very clear detailed explanation. I did all different IF cycles, 16/8, 18/6, OMAD, rotated. Recently I stopped for awhile because I am getting too thin, 18 BMI . I have to agree fasting provided fast results if it combine with good diet and fitness activities. My arthritis improved significantly, skin smoother no need make up and face cream, hair became thicker growing faster and shiny. My apnea stopped . Entire body is tone and lean. Just love it. I look now perfect in jeans and bikini. Just let you know, I am 69 years old. Exercise daily all my life, eat healthy and intermittent fasting the past 6 months.

I started intermittent fasting in January. I am doing custom where I switch up between 12 and 24 hours. I'm also working on throwing in extended fasts. 39 hours being my longest so far. I've recently started doing keto, but on certain weeks, more like carb cycling. I'm working my way up to be able to do a 3 day fast. I drink a lot of herbal teas during those times to still get micronutrients and to stay hydrated. I'm a bit insulin resistant so I am working to become insulin sensitive again.

I've started carnivore for over 2 weeks now and regarding meal time, I'm fluctuating between OMAD and two meals a day (lunch & dinner) because some days I work out quite hard and I don't want to lose the hard-earned muscle mass by not eating enough protein. About last month I suspected myself being insulin resistant due to signs like skin tags on the neck, puffy eyes, and frequent urination at night, so I set a goal to be more mindful with my diet. Fortunately I had been doing IF by skipping breakfast and eating low carb, high-protein, high-fiber for almost 2 years so switching to carnivore is not too difficult except the part where I can eat all the animal fat I want. That takes some getting used to but so far I'm doing fine. My longest iF was about 30 hrs, during which I felt great. I only had to break it because I was cooking for my mom and had to taste the food, so I felt like I might just as well have a meal right then. Will be sticking to this current pattern of eating for months to come since I've seen so many benefits with my overall health and physique.

I'm 72 year old male, have metabolic syndrome and have been intermitten fasting for about 2 weeks now and have already began to feel different and notice my clothes are fitting looser. First weigh in is tomorrow 4/29/2024. Mine is 20/4 hrs and the reason I do 20/4 is I hate to go bed with full stomach so my last meal is around 4 pm and it has time to leave my stomach which help me sleep better. No indigestion, no heartburn or reflux. Just sleep. About to attempt an extended fast. Thank you again

Great video. Thanks for breaking everything down so well. I understand fasting better now. I do 16/8 daily. I am currently 27 hours into a fast and am wondering if I should try to go for 36 or 48. I find that having done 16/8 for many months now, that a 24 hour fast is much much easier. I had done a few before I was doing 16/8 and I found them difficult. During a fast I now I drink water w/sea salt in it all day. I also drink around 3 cups of green tea per day anyway and esp. on fasting days. The longest fast I have done is 42 hours and was surprised at how good I felt toward the final hours. Thanks again!

Twice a year I do a 7 day water fast (Holy Week of Lent and sometime in Oct/Nov). Otherwise I do 18:6 IM and some 48/72 hour fasts during the year. Cancer lives on sugar and I am working hard to prevent the return of the Hodgkin's Lymphoma (diagnosed in 2001). Currently at around 50 hours on my current 72 hour fast.
For those getting started, I find that once you're comfortable with IM in the 18:6 or 20:4 range, it's not too hard to go 36 or 48 hours. Once you've done that a couple times, longer fasts don't seem so daunting. Nothing breeds confidence like success so rack up some early wins to prepare for the bigger challenges.

One thing I found that helped when I was starting was to greatly restrict or remove sugars and carbs a couple days before starting a fast. This seemed to make the transition to not eating easier (probably due to being in light ketosis). I also used to drink diet soda (which I've since cut out completely) during a fast. Coffee is fine (no creams or sugar) and a spritz of lemon or lime in water helps some people. Like everything, you're good at what you practice, so if you keep at it, I think you'll find it gets easier over time. Good luck! Also, if you have any health issues, it would be good to consult with a health professional (which I am NOT) before doing any sort of extended fasting.

I've been doing fasting for the best part of 5 years and this is a very good video 👍🏼 I would say though that if you're going to go beyond 24 hours you'll need to top up on electrolytes (powder or capsules ) otherwise you'll likely start to feel a bit dizzy.
Also, when it comes to breaking an extended fast, eat something small then after 45-60 mins go for a larger meal if you want one. I've made the mistake of having a big meal to break a 36 hour fast and it was very uncomfortable 😆
