I know everyone loves the NK65 Entry and it WAS first, but at this point it’s completely outdated IMO. But, I would love to see a 5 way all-encompassing battle-review video of the Kara v Ikki Aurora v NK65EE v Portico v KBD67Lite. You are the best man, keep up the amazing vids!
Great review as always! Of all these entry models, the kbd67 lite was probably the only one that was actually good straight out of the box... Pretty surprised at the stabs being not terrible. Pair this up with some stock akko cs switches (also very decent straight out of the box), you got yourself the perfect mech for the lazy :)
Just bought and built one of these R3 versions with holy panda switches (tactile gang!) and it sounds pretty similar to your sound test. This is one of my fav keebs now and I am glad I could add it to my tactile collection (along side the drop alt). Thanks for the review on this one @BadSeed ! :)
@UC3qh6n5VRK-PgsEr1ba7spA the rattle doesn't come from the plastic on pcb contact, it comes from the plastic on metal contact of the wire and the stem. stab pads just add mush. I have the 67 lite and several other aftermarket screw ins and they're all the same, dry or factory lubed. they need modded.
I wish kbdfans would just use their logo on their keyboards because aesthetically it’s my one major gripe with some of their boards. It’s not a huge deal but it’s enough of one too lol. I’m still waiting on the gb mk Biip boop from kbdfans and that’s why I hate gb’s. Great review.
I've been running with an NK65 EE Watermelon Edition for a while now, was so proud when I got it too! Got the MiTo x Drop Signature Plastics SA Laser (Gaijin & Micons) set on it and it's been my daily driver since. Recently built another custom with the Alopow Resin case in marble white with a DZ60 soldered with Durock Koala 62g lubed with Krytox 205g0 springs with super lube, durock V2 purple stabs lubed with Krytox 205g0 mixed with super lube to thin it out, in the ISO profile on a brass plate with Drop x MiTo DCS Pegaso Mitocorn set... And honestly I can't go back to the NK. This simple custom build made me realize just how much they missed the boat with this release. I honestly can't wait to get my hands on something new from KBDFans, been eyeing that KBD67 MkII for a while and you just tipped me over the edge!
you might need to carefully search for non-tray mounts for better feel on keyboard. Most KBD sells tray mounts for budget purposes, but if you do want a better one search for gasket or top mounts like this KBD67lite, D65, or kbd75v3
Stoked that I got into the R2 buy, excited to get it in hand this month (hopefully). Also thanks for doing videos on both this and the Portico! It's always great to see comparisons between boards on the same pricing bracket.
Great intro and video as always! The moment I picked up the R1 in March on the aftermarket I was hooked into custom keyboards. I was in for the 67Lite R2 but got this to hold me over until then. Of all the boards I have built up until now, I still go back to this one because of just how good it sounds with JWK POM Linears (205g0) and Durock v2 stabs. Already in several group buys for a couple more boards and key cap sets but am looking forward to receiving my R2 in a few weeks!
I had my eyes on this board when they first put it up on their site and immediately ordered it in white when they opened for R1. This board is by far my favorite. I paired it with Silent Alpacas (lubed with tribyosys 3204 and filmed) and the MiTo Pegaso from Drop and the sound, more so lack of sound, is perfect. Been waiting on this review since I got my hands on mine and glad to see others love it as much as I do.
This little keeb changed the game! I've been collecting for five years, and this one sounds better than anything else in my stable, regardless of price. Thanks to this, I'm a polycarb plate convert for lyfe. Great look at this vs some other options. On one hand it's not super flexy, but on the other, it really does absorb a lot of the higher frequency vibes. I think ABS MT3 is the perfect fit for this keeb, too - sounds AMAZING. As I see it, this keeb represents the best of many very good options in my favorite range of keebspace; the middle. Great tech from higher end customs that makes the typing feel amazing, but none of the expensive fluff that makes it un-affordable. As an aside mechanicalkeyboards.com is right down the road from me - makes shipping from them crazy fast. :D

Thanks @BadSeed Tech! Got my first keeb but had to wait for so long since I bought the switches and keycaps first before the board (Everglide Aqua/Water Kings and DOMIKEY SA KNIGHT). Waited around 6mo.+ this is such a fun board to play with and I like the way it. My R3 version (thank goodness it came so quick after Black Friday) seems like you have assemble the stabs and lube it yourself unlike yours (sorry am newb). But still it's great for now until I get some replacements instead. An amazing first keeb! Thanks for your amazing vids. :D
Recently sold mine to a buddy (lowkey regret it because its soo good I might have to buy another one). My stock stabs came pretty much perfect to the point that I NEVER opened the board up. I was SHOCKED at how great the board is OUT OF THE BOX.
I think the use of an FR4 plate kinda hurt the Portico too, makes most things become a "tick" sort of sound. I'm using black ink's in mine and I would have expected a deeper sound signature than what I'm getting now. There are 3rd parties selling POM plates so I'll probably end up picking up that and seeing how that changes how the board sounds. Also what you said has def been true, a lot of people on the TKC discord have been seeing issues with either the PCB getting damaged(usually around the USB-C port) or with RGB issues. They have said there will be firmware to patch some of the RGB issues though, so we'll see if that fixes the ongoing issues.
Grats on 300k! I used your affiliate link to get this board and I love it! Put L&F Boba U4T and it sounds great! One of my stock stabs was a bit rattly though, so I replaced them with Durock V2s.
I hate it when affordable boards come in a really nice case like this. It means that a significant portion of what you're paying went into the packaging when it could have been used to make the board better

Got one at launch, and tried like four different switches. Finally landed on some durock POM linears, spring swapped to be super light, and with enough lube to get rid of the high resonance bottom out frequency. Sounds so good, feels and looks even better 😍 (ducky SA cotton candy caps)
I got mine recently. The stabs were surprisingly great. I didn't touch them and they sound fantastic. Like you said, the space bar has a bit of chatter after a week or so, but it's so minor. This board checked off all the marks. Sounds great, and I prefer plastic boards since it's much lighter and gives a deeper sound.
I sort of like the telephone coiled cables. If I'm gonna have a coil I want it to stretch properly and the one I made with a heat gun? Nah, it's not very functional for that. I definitely agree on lighter lube for lighter switches. Tribosys 3204 has been perfect on my 45g/55g switches. 205g0 is AGGRESSIVE.
@@noidsuper I believe you ! I'm not that big of a keyboard nerd to know to be honest, i upgrade my stabs and all, do some research to get a nice result, but no more. just feel like the GMMK is more attractive, and more complete to most people ^^
I'm using this kbd67lite R1 as well with durock creamy linear + Gateron KS3 top, and damn I love it instantly as well. After using kbd75v2 which is a custom acrylic sandwich mount, then switch to the real alu case with tray mount, this kbd67lite typing feels wayyyyy nice-r on my fingers, and the sound was so nice as well. Stabs just need a very bit more tuned in, but overall it's true everything already modded. My downside on this R1 is the feet is way too small and makes typing unstable, so I decided to remove the 2 feet on the bottom, and only use the ones on the top to make it more "stable" not flipping around. But yeah this "gasket" feels very good.
I personally went with a ikki68 aurora in charcoal black. Only reason is the more unique look on the right side of the board haha I would of got this instead if I didn't already have a kbd67 mkii great keyboard for the price it was launched at
I sold my Portico for cost before even opening the box. They are getting slammed for broken PCBs and USB c ports popping off. I have the R2 of this and the Aurora on deck. Getting by with my Candybar now, but 40s take a bit to get used to.

Just built my first board with this bad boy, some okomochi tactile switches and some gmk keycaps and i must say its wayyy better than my old ducky tkl.

stock stabs that don't rattle do not exist lmao. the r1s are stock cherry too, which have a lot of play. I guess you just don't mind rattle.

@Pander the spacebar sounds really good imo, maybe not perfect. But not worth mingeling on unless you know you're definitely going to improve it
Yea mine were great, I did lube the housing though while they were still installed in the board. The wires were lubed but the housing did seem to be.
