    A little known trick ive been testing lately for max thockiness is to take my keys out and then deep fry the casings before reinstating them with an additional 2 hour exorcism of any clacky demons inhabiting the board. keep making rad vids dude!!

    Hello, sound engineer here. From personal experience i would say that for the most deep sounding keyboard or "thock" i would recommend using a wooden case. Because wood resonates on low frequencies (exactly about 1.1 Hz.) For comparison the resonant frequency of plastic is about 9.225 Hz, and brass/metal resonates at a high frecuency of 100-150 Hz which is why brass plate keyboards are high pitched or "clacky".

    Lubing cj’s doesn’t ruin smoothness at all. Polishing is a process that makes the stem fit smoother and reduces friction into the bottom housing by wearing it in. Lube also reduces friction. I’ve compared unlubed to my lubed cj’s and they feel exactly the same. Still buttery smooth. Only difference is that the plasticy sound of the upstroke (I found unbearable) was toned down a bit.

    • @coleydotmp4
      @coleydotmp4  2 роки тому +1

      Personally, i lubed the entire stem. But it took away like 2% of the smoothness(not a lot but noticable), so make sure you test a few different methods of lubing on 2-4 CJ's and see what you like best! You will probably only need to do the top housing to fix the upstroke clack, but you might also want to lube/bag lube the springs! Hope that helps.

      If you're looking for a deeper sound, go with the oil kings! If you're looking for the smoothest stock switch of all time, go with the CJs. You can make the CJ's deep if you do what i did in the video, but bc of the materials, Oil Kings are deeper.

      people say it's bad because it's too stiff for a gasket mounted kb and problematic clearance for stabs., better get a keychron q1 knob version or mod 007 if u dont mind the north facing leds

    • @coleydotmp4
      @coleydotmp4  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks frosty! Tbh - i would wait for reviews of their next keyboard to come out (Glorious has hinted that there's a V2 coming) if you are set in buying from Glorious. Problems with the GMMK Pro seemed to be quality control leading to things like the stabilizers not working due to being compressed by the plate, poor stock stabs, lack of flex even though it's a gasket mount, and overall a difficult build experience due to the complexity, despite being a "beginner" board. So I'd be cautious there, and opt for an Akko Mod007 or Keychron Q1 knob. Most of the people saying the GMMK pro is a great board, are not really enthusiasts, or it's their first foray into customs. Basically, all of the reviewers I trust didnt like it. There's also the Feker 75! and a TON of great 65% budget options.

    By the way I’ve got more then one set of gateron CJ switches and tested proper lubing them just the same as all my other switches and even tho the stock switch is super smooth the sound isn’t great … and I’ve typed extensively on 2 Kbd67 lites one with full lube and one stock and I like the lubed gateron CJ switches much better
    Actually the lubed CJs are one of the smoothest and my favorites to type on … I wouldn’t worry that much about it lol 🤣. Personally for any CJ build from here on I will be lubing as normal for the sound and feel

      By the way l would literally swap back and forth between the two boards and built them the same to do a proper test and yea idk what those people did to make theirs less smooth on taking them apart but I’ve seen and felt nothing besides extra smooth linear lol.

    For your gateron cjs did you lube the springs also or only the top housings?

    my thockiest build is actually a modded keychron k6 with tealios. I have a few other thocky builds, but I prefer clack. Sadly My only clacky build is a mode 65 with memesicles. Cheap clack is hard to find :(.

    Hi coley 👋 I would like to know how many layers of tape you put for the tape mod it’s seems like only one layer doesn’t really do anything

    would gat oil kings also work for the switch because they also have a polished stem or are cjs better?

      Oil kings might even be better, actually. I think the consensus is that they are thockier.

    For the gat cj switch when lubing the tip housing cant we just do it without taking it apart just wondering

    • @coleydotmp4
      @coleydotmp4  2 роки тому

      Kinda, it might be difficult to hit though. you would push down the stem and apply the lube. You should test it :)

    i really need this answered but where can i get noico/kilmat thats not $80 and is there a cheaper alternative? I want to use the mod but dont want to spend and probably waste more money for a little noise dampener.
