Really appreciate you taking time to show these singles one by one as well as the book, packaging, etc. It'd be great to have a copy, but alas, with the price tag and coming so near Christmas, I can't bring myself to do it. But seeing your wonderful video has allowed me to live vicariously thru you, sir! Fingers crossed for those London Town & Back To The Egg reissues ...

After seeing your video I can really understand why it is so expensive, but after all, not overpriced. And thanks a lot for your hello in the video. what a pleasant surprise 😀. I will not dig it. I spent too much money in 2022 for records already and I am not a 7" records guy. But I love to see this kind od stuff. Enjoy the box and the extended listening session you will surely do! An absolutely brilliant video Tone! Thank you for much for doing this, especially for people like me who haven't received their boxsets yet (mine should arrive Monday morning here in the US). As usual your passion for all things Beatles comes over in leaps and bounds and it was "acres of fun" watching your review this cold December morning. And what a gorgeous, fabulous boxset this is! One thing I love and appreciate about McCartney/MPL is that they always give value for money with their releases. Having never collected the 7" singles, I can hardly believe that I will have them ALL in my hands in just a few days. Wow! Also I'm excited to see what number and white label I receive. I have a theory that the higher numbers might be in the UK so perhaps I will get a lower number than you (for once)! Thanks again, I know how much effort it takes to make these videos - and I know you do it for the joy it gives you and the rest of the Beatles community. Top marks old boy!

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel One more thing. The "Burple" label. Once Upon a Long Ago when I was a boy in the UK I remember buying my very first "White Album". And I remember getting it home, opening it up, and being so disappointed when I was confronted with the "Purple" Capitol label on both records. Is my memory faulty or could that be right? Did you ever have a White Album with the Burple label? I remember being disappointed as I was expecting an Apple label? Help me remember!
@@nicksyrett I cant say for sure Nick, because I haven't seen every iteration of the White Album, but Ive never heard of the White album being on anything but Apple. But I guess its possible, Ive got a Greek copy of Abbey Road that is on the EMI label, so I guess it stands to reason, that not every Apple release was on an Apple label. I guess a bit more digging is required on this one.

16:22 I'm not from the Netherlands, but the father of my best friend from childhood owned a music company that stocked the jukeboxes around town. The cutout on that sleeve looks like the labels that were inserted into the rack that listed the tracks (A-side, then artist, then B-side) that the customer could choose from. Maybe it's just a coincidence, though.

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel no longer in IT, but still work in a call center. I work for the marketing department of a large Chevrolet/Cadillac/Buick/GMC/Honda/Nissan/Toyota automotive service department. Schedule in all services and call out for reminders of service and recalls and such.

What a great unboxing video. I really enjoyed that. I got mine delivered today & my Live & Let Die / I Lie Around is exactly the same as yours with the misaligned B side label. I got Helen Wheels / Country Dreamers as my test pressing & I'm close to your issue number with 2242. Thanks for this. ❤️

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannelI'm going to have to trawl the internet to try & find out about the misaligned label. Like you I would be very surprised if quality control let this happen. Anything McCartney is normaly spot on. The last time I can remember anything like this was when I bought my original We All Stand Together single way back in the 80's & half of the label covered the playing surface.
@@davidreed4910 After doing the video, I had a quick look on google pics for dutch Live & Let Die but all the results only showed the green apple side. Do let me know if you find anything. There are others in the set where the song title and artist name are above the sliced apple rather than on it. These look suspect to me as well

I've just been going through my box set & I've also found Old Siam Sir has got a really wrinkly A side label & the Only Love Remains A side label covers the playing surface so it looks like quality control on this is properly lacking. 😑
@@davidreed4910 Oh no that's not good, as you saw my copies of those two records were fine. Does that mean that Only love Remains is not playable? I would send a message to Paul McCartney.com and see if they can replace it - not sure if they can do anything with it being sold out, but worth a try. The customer services is really good. My Wild Life half speed master had a jump on the track Wild Life, I told them and they sent me a replacement and said I didnt have to send the bad one back. Worth a try?

Wow Tone, excellent video. I had to watch it in two parts and I was only sat on a comfy sofa🙂. To be fair the Singles Crate looks excellent, I hope you're going to treat Mrs Beatley at Christmas. Yes Ive got something nice planned for Mrs B but I cant tell you on here because she sometimes reads the comments on my videos :-) I agree, id love something similar to this for the other Beatles and would also like a Beatles singles box as well as I have some gaps - EPs too. Yeah I get that this set isn't for everyone Trevor which is fine. I think we'd all rather that they finished off the Archive series , but this is very nice set

Great review. I'm still waiting for my box set, it stopped on Friday and FedEx changed the delivery date from 12/02/22 to pending. Hope it arrives soon. In the meantime, I have been streaming it and all I can say it, what a set! There are so many great songs, listening to the set as a whole it reminds you how brilliant Paul is, the standard is so high from the 70s all the way through to Women and Wives.

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel my box just arrived. The outer box was extremely damaged and had holes through it. Luckily the crate itself looks undamaged. I got We all Stand Together as my test pressing. Not one of my favourite songs, but it's fun. The set really does look amazing. Can't wait to get started.

I can't wait for my box..it's this week Thursday..I am told..it's very cool..I just started buying singles for Wings/McCartney in 2020..I was up to about 40 singles from mostly Europe..I was afraid I would have all of these..after a year getting them..Now a box set..but Really not alot of Duplicates..thanks great video

Loved your video Tone. My set is yet to be shipped. It’s a wonderful set. There are a few folks that quibble that it’s overpriced or a unnecessary collection but I sense jealousy from them. It’s a no brainer to purchase this set as it will only appreciate in value and it’s an awesome set to look at even if its not going to be played often.
That is human nature Im afraid Tony, I see that sort of thing a lot on you tube. I think this is set although expensive, represents good value for money. To me it doesn't really matter how much it goes up in value , because that only means something if I intend to sell it which I don't. But obviously my kids will benefit from this when I go. 🙂. I hope your set shows up soon - enjoy it the full and do share with me what your number is and what you got as your test pressing

Thank you for your great and detailed vlog....I got my own which had as the test pressing Wings Listen to what man said....my enjoyment though was short lived as my Mary had a little lamb sleeve was damaged with a long score line down the centre.. gutted and annoyed!!!
Oh that's really annoying Mike. Try emailing customer services form the Macca site - they are usually really good at replacing stuff - I talk from experience. Although it might not be that easy as this is sold out but worth a try. Nice test pressing , what number crate did you get?

As far as I listened to it on UA-cam, 'I Want to Come Home' is totally a new version to my great surprise, although I prefer the original recording as the one from the Soundtrack.
Are you sure you weren't listening to the demo of the song . That's the b side of that single in the box

Hi David, Im glad you're really pleased with the box , me too. Good idea to top up with other singles - I was surprised off the ground wasnt in the box. I guess you'll have to remove th foam to get other singles in there - its a tight fit isn't it. What did you get as your random test pressing?
Great review Tone , going through each single in the box set , I’m so jealous , I wish they had given us more of an advance warning of this release coming out , or put it back until 2023 , then I probably could have got it , but with the revolver coming out & then this box set , I was stumped .
I totally agree with your sentiments. Probably not the best time to drop a massive release on us with such short notice and at a time when everyone’s flexible friend is trying to hide from Christmas itself. And a bigger press run would have probably helped.
Personally, I would like them to have done what Sony did many years ago with an Elvis box set of singles where the very first single was put out with the box. The Presley box did not contain so many singles and each single was released on a weekly basis. However, with the McCartney release, they could have done the box with 20 singles as the first release and then the remainder split over two (30 singles each) or three releases (20 singles each) so people could spread the cost.
@@emjel-yi9eg i remember the Elvis singles box set it was housed in a Red Box , the box set came out with one single already in , and the rest came out one every week , as you have already quoted , anyway they might re-issue it again , but I very much doubt it

Thanks very much Paul, glad you liked the video. Im not sure about glaring omissions , but one I would have liked to have seen in there which isn't is Off the Ground but on the whole im delighted with the set.
I decided not to go for this box set but have decided to collect the original vinyl singles - I am up to 35 at present - including a number of 12” singles and picture disc#.
Great idea although quite a lot of the later singles have never been out in the 7" format before this box. However, if you manage to track down all the others you will have a very good collection. Are you looking for the versions of the singles from the countries that are in the box , or are you happy to collect any version of the singles?

The set is not for me - I’m a cd guy - but it is a very nice set and I hope it forms a part of a very merry Christmas for you and your family. I would be interested to read Paul’s thoughts on this music since I don’t think he gives enough respect to his own solo and Wings catalogue.

Well not really missing as such as this is not supposed to be a complete singles collection , just 80 singles picked by Paul to represent his 80 years. When you think about the global aspect of this box there's more singles from different countries that aren't here - the US Eat home for example but the 4 you mention have definitely been left out - I guess he's not so keen on them
I wish there would have been a cd release but not 80 cd singles that would be crazy. Maybe a 2 cd set with a nice book letting us know about all the singles.
I guess the closest you can get to a Cd release is to get the hi-res download - all the music is included and a more convenient way to listen

Yes it is Matt. I recorded the clip for that and Party Party on Friday night but I must have missed it during the editing process of the video. I'm forever grateful for this video and look inside the box. It's put me off seeing the singles on Parlophone. The label isn't part of EMI these days, it belongs to Warner Music, i'm sure they've licenses the artwork for collectable purposes but not for me. Maybe i'd be interested in selected titles if someone decides to sell them on Ebay!
I don't understand your rationale here - please explain. What difference does it make who owns the label now? This set provides replicas of the original releases . However, Im glad to have provide a service. Nobody will be selling these singles out of the box unless they have a screw loose. 😂
I managed to get the double A sided FREE AS A BIRD/REAL LOVE from the Beatles boxed set off Ebay.
That purple or "BURPLE" as you called it, was actually the color that Capital used on their 45's from the late 50's to early 60's. I have many of them!! I also believe "Liberty" label used them as well, but I'd have to check.

Yes that would have been a welcome addition to this box set for sure - great idea Lyla. Yes some other viewers have pointed out that the cut out is for a juke box. Hi Stein Thanks very much for these kind words, really appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video. I actually record my videos on my iPhone . When it's a long video, I record it in segments and edit the videos together using iMovie. Im glad that my delight at getting this came across in the video. I also have quite a few of the singles from when they came out or getting them second hand for ones I missed going backwards from when I discovered the Beatles in 1976. I stopped buying singles on vinyl at Once Upon A Long Ago, after that I only bought Cd singles so really glad to get a lot of these on vinyl for the first time. I also really like that there are lots of singles from other countries which obviously I didnt have. I think that is my favourite aspect of this box.
Now I know exactly what Mrs Beatley Tone is getting for xmas from me but I couldn't possibly tell you on here as she reads a lot of the comments on my videos. It won't be a pet in a box though lol. Thanks very much for this really great comment Stein. Best wishes Tone.
About to purchase this set for £720, except the set is missing the test pressing and the book, so figured I'd come back and check out what I'm missing in the set, although I think for that price I've done okay! If a test pressing or a book come up for sale on ebay I might pick it up but was okay with that price considering the current market prices being significantly more than that just for the book and test pressing so I'm not too bothered! Looking forward to having a copy myself considering I was very disappointed not to have picked one up in the original release.
That is a really good price Boyan , enjoy when you get it. you have to wonder why there is no book or test pressing though. Maybe the the seller planned to sell each piece off separately
Apparently the person I’m buying it from was sold the incomplete set and weren’t told about the lack of book and test pressing, so maybe the owner before them had that idea, or just kept them for themselves before selling the rest! Either way it’s culminated in a good deal for me!

A fantastic box set and contrary to most blogs, i believe to be very reasonably priced. Probably one of McCartney's best reissues to date with a wealth of material that has not seen 7" vinyl. for me its a 9 out of 10 score.

As mentioned on comments on your previous video, I got 2100 and Mary Had a Little Lamb test pressing.
My friend saw my post on Facebook about this set when I first ordered it and was so taken with it, just paid £1250 for one off of Ebay before the prices escalate even further. He said even that is a fair enough price for the amount that's included.

Yes I can imagine it with the Beatles who could have tempered down down some of Paul's camp cause we know that it must have been hard to now have to write everything without his reliable partner to pour a couple drops of magical acid into Paul's bottomless Honey Pot and just having his greatest most reliable bandmates who never ever let him down. If you watch the Beatles signing the papers to officially disolve the group George is just thrilled and Paul really wishes he wasn't losing the Best once in probably no less than at least 500 years and who knows how long , sky's the limit or maybe at least until the next cataclysmic earth disaster event. Time to put their catalog on satellite and store one on the moon and on Mars .I wonder how many years it would really honestly take for a musical phenomenon to render the Beatles to Number 2 on the list, probably won't happen in my lifetime and I'm 63 . So I got to be 5 years old when every radio was Yeah yeah and they had toys and bubble gum cards and cartoons and all Three of my older sisters loved them. IT was my first real life lasting Loving memory ,. The only memory before them that I can honestly say I vividly remember is being fed eggs in a highchair at 4 years old.. I have never eaten eggs as a singular food ever since, only baked into cakes and cookies etc. I'm the Paul should not be allowed to die guy

I am not certain that "House of Wax" is the live version found on the Amoeba Concert.... Wasn't there a live version from the Electric Ballroom - perhaps it is that version... not sure?
Has yours arrived yet? I haven't got to Ever Present Past single yet so cant confirm one way or the other, but the book says the engineers are Amoeba Music LA, so that's why I made my assumption in the video. He did play it at the Electric Proms at the Roundhouse in London - I was there :-)

You gave emphasis to the London Town and BTTE tracks which have a 2022 remaster which you imply means an archive edition will soon follow. Maybe but you also mentioned that several tracks from Press to Play and other albums have 2022 remasters. So perhaps the new archive is not inevitable, or maybe some unannounced purpose lies behind these new remasters. Maybe an album compilation of the singles next year

Sorry about the your boys going out. It was a big ask against a very good Dutch side . I watched the game and was obviously routing for the USA but you guys are joint hosting the next World Cup so I guess you'll build towards that. Really pleased with our victory tonight against a tough Senegal side. It was a hard watch for 30 mins but I felt once we scored we never looked in trouble. France is going to be something else. very difficult game on Saturday . My band is playing a gig in a pub on Saturday night so we will have to get there early to set up and watch the game in the pub - it should be packed. then we will start our set as soon as the game ends. @@RussBeatle63 Yes I can see how this could lead to some compulsive collecting and a huge dent in the bank balance. The test pressing is exactly the same as the released version as far as I can make out - I think the idea is just a novelty surprise item in the box for everyone so effectively you get 2 copies one single , one with a white label and one with the proper single - so its a box of 81 singles really. What has blown me away with this set is the sound quality of these singles. they sound awesome. I have only heard about a quarter of the box so far and every one is stunning so far.
Shame Japan went out but Brazil were astonishing tonight and my boy Paqueta got a great goal. I think Walker will get the job of keeping mbappe quiet because he's quick. If only he was the only one we had to worry about ! yes Rice will have the job of breaking up play and setting us off on attack. Should be a cracker, but I will be very nervous watching it. If England win the pub will be packed for our gig which will be a bonus, if we lose we could see the pub empty out or it could go the other way and everyone stays to drown their sorrows. We will see
I'd really love this boxset I've noticed that there's a few 2022 remix of the wings stuff that's already been done on the archive sets and the magneto pic sleeve is fantastic. when i bought I've had enough I played it to death absolutely love the song and the fact I didn't chart so well was probably coz got it on the album 3 months before same as the single itself released far to late ,that sort of thing crept in, in the 70's as we know the fabs only did that once but they were all over effectively. Also they've copied the last Beatle singles box with covers from around the world. Strange you didn't get the singles of the tug of war album as two had B-sides not on the album, as of note coz I'm writing this i go through the vid all the stuff we are awaiting as archive sets all have a 2022 remix (could get all pre millennium archives we are waiting for within 18 months (he types hopefully). like what they did with the flaming pie singles, should've done that originally. Dance tonight good too, and nod your head great. ever present is the same as the original, sing the changes nice.(All the singles with white border sleeves are great) all in all a great set I'm jealous but have the originals to console myself with sorry for the long comments tony i hope you enjoy it, great vid.
Yes come of the already remastered for the archive series have been remastered again. For example Coming Up live in Glasgow is on the McCartney II archive . The version on that I believe is the full version lasting 4:10 as played at the gig. however the version of that song that came out on the b side of the Coming Up single in the UK was an edited version of that 4:10 version, clocking in at 3:50. As this set is replicating original releases of the 7" single it is the the 3:50 version that is in the set and therefore had to be remastered again.
I also love Ive Had Enough but didnt buy the single because the A & B sides were on the London Town album which I already had. I did get Ebony & Ivory and Take it Away because as you say they had unreleased b sides but I didnt buy the Tug of War single because the b side get it, was on the album. Sorry if that point didnt come across in the video. Im not sure we will get all the archives in such a short period of time but it would be fantastic if we did. Of course there is more to putting together an archive box than just the remaster of the album so I guess it takes time to put a box set together. The flaming Pie singles look really great. As you might know "Once Upon a Long Ago" is one of my favourite songs. But who produced it? I think on the new set it says "Produced by George Martin" but I seem to remember Phil Ramone being credited as producer on the original single. Is this correct and if so, why the discrepancy???
I checked on my original single Nick, which says Produced by Phil Ramone , mixed by George Martin. The one in the set indeed says Produced by George Martin. Yet another error. there's a few in this set as you will find out in 16 days !

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel Thanks again. Do you have Luca's book? If so, take a look at the part about this song (on page 265). Phil may have produced the basic tracks but it looks like everything else was done by George Martin at Abbey Rd, including all the solos (Gtr, Sax, Violin, Recorder). Maybe Ramone was there, but seems unlikely with George there? So if George produced the overdub sessions and the mixing, it doesn't sound like Ramone could have done that much? So wondering if has been realized now and a correction to the production credit made? It's hard to think that in examining the original artwork for this release that they would have accidentally omitted Ramone?
@@nicksyrett Yes I do have Luca's book. The way I read it is that GM only did the orchestral arrangement . It doesn't really say that he produced the sessions. The way its says 'the track was presented to Phil Ramone', for me clearly indicates that he is the main producer as that is what artists do - play the songs to be recorded as a demo to the producer ( like Paul did to Nigel Goodrich for Chaos or George did for Phil Spector as we hear on ATMP demos days 1&2). It sounds from the book that Paul did most of the overdubs himself (probably at Hog Hill either with or without PR there and from what the sax player says about his solo, that sounds as if the session just involved him and Paul (although its not specific). I have the 12" single as well and that just credits Phil Ramone as the producer and the producer of the b side Back on My Feet. I imagine this might be part of the Press to Play archive collection. Maybe we will get the full details there. The rest is speculation

Hi Martin, welcome to the channel. Really sorry to read that your box hasn't arrived yet. the courier company was Yodel - they are notoriously bad and ive had things go missing from them as well . Maybe start with them (I remember they have an app to track) if not, go back to Paul's website or wherever you ordered it from. good luck with your search, I hope it shows up mate. The problem is there was no tracking for this. I didnt get any notification of when it was going to be delivered, it just turned up randomly.

I know that doesn't sound encouraging but I don't know that many Uk people who have this either, so maybe not as grim as it sounds. I would definitely chase this with Pauls website . Great review - looks superb. I really wish that for those who could not buy this set in time or could not afford the set, and who have to make do with a download, that the sleeves could be downloaded as they also form an important part of the story. The small print run meaning the set sold out so quickly along with not getting the sleeves are my biggest disappointment.
I wouldn't be surprised to find that someone loads up the sleeves soon, so those who have taken the download can allocate the correct cover art to each track
@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel - now that really wood be great. Alternatively, a CD release in 7" or 8" packaging with the same book or a book devoted to the sleeves. That would be good for the McCartney collectors who did not have a spare £600/$600 readily available because they’ve just paid their energy bill 😉

I survived the whole video and made pauses when appropriate. I can not afford the box set as I had a stroke and my right side is messed up. I can type with my left hand but my right side I can only use my index finger and my thumb. When I talk, I sound like a drunken fool. But the only unreleased single is "The Man" with the B-side :Blackpool". The only question I had regarding "Blackpool" is it the 1974 recording or is it from the 1980's (Carl Perkins would've like that song). And no recording dates in the book you showed. I'm a bit weird as I like to put my recordings together by date order.

"Blackpool" was was recorded proper during the Tug/Pipes sessions going so far as getting a brass arrangement. Too bad it's still locked away.

Ummed & R'd weather order the box. Decided the next day, went into all the web sites. SOLD OUT. Thought it was a lot of money. Then found out there were the instalments. Did your Wife pay the full amount or the 4 Monthly Payments. Found again i missed the Second Issue too. Trouble is you never know if and when the 2nd chance came up. Yes Graham, because there were so few made, it was one of those things that I needed to make a snap decision on. Because its been so popular maybe they will do another pressing in the future. I don't think we had the option to spread the cost in the UK so she paid for it all at once. Im enjoying the box a lot so far. thanks for your comment

I listened to the digital version and I was hyped to see that Back to the Egg tracks got a 2022 remaster! But upon listening I really dislike how it sounds. For me the 93 remaster that is available currently sounds way better....
I even think they did some remasters that bring the dynamics down so that the cutting was easier on the discs... I have no proof it's just what I think on first inspection.
I don't even understand why Tug of War got a 2022 remaster when in 2015 it got a remix.
Its funny you should say that because someone else asked a question about coming up so I compared the hi-res download version of the song against the vinyl and the vinyl sounded way better which surprised me. I have absolutely no complaints about how the vinyl sounds of the singles that ive heard so far (around 20). based on that I wouldn't put too much weight on how the digital version sounded.
I think Tug of War was remixed in 2015 for the archive set, so this is a new remastering of that remix.

That is so weird.. if you can compare, the first 3 seconds of "Getting Closer" painted the whole picture for me and the 2022 remaster sounded way less clear. Like a wall between me and the music. Would love to know if the vinyl suffers from that too

This is streaming on spotify, I don't understand physjcal media anymore. I used to but digital is so much cheaper and space friendly.
For me streaming is great for portability - having stuff on your phone, laptop etc but files on Spotify are compressed and don't sound great if you play them through your hifi. This box is about owning the actual records, how they sound and of course there is a nostalgia aspect to this - singles were the way that everyone my age first discovered pop music but I realise this isn't the case for younger people and I also get that this set isn't for everyone - this is not a convenient way to play this music but each to their own eh . The only single that I can think of that came out on coloured vinyl originally was Seaside woman on yellow vinyl. That isn't included here (although I do have one that I might stick in the box if I can squeeze it in).
