I agree. I’m of the opinion that there are certain classics that shouldn’t be covered. My daughter sent this link to me, she’s 21 years old and she basically thought the same… don’t disrespect Floyd by trying to cover them. And we both agree that this is worthy… this is brilliant.
And that brings me to "I can't believe I'M THIS OLD"! It seems only such a short time ago that I purchased this album original release. God how time flies. Good thing that Floyd doesn't seem to age with it. It's still just as moving and intriguing as it was on the first time I heard it.
Honestly I love Hozier's vocals in this! A lot of people are hating on it, but even though it is different than the original, it's still very very good imo.
This song use to terrify me as a child 😂 not gonna lie.. the beginning of time is pretty damn creepy when you’re 5 yrs old and you wake up in the middle of the night hearing this song in a dark house lol My parents would let the radio play rock music all night long. Looking back, I’m thankful they did that and I adore Pink Floyd. This is a badass cover and Hoziers voice is perfect with the orchestra. Such a Beautiful cover
Yeah it used to terrify me as a kid too, but then as I grow older i started to enjoy it more, the lyrics are wayyyy more haunting then the song itself.
My dad let me watch the movie The Wall when I was too young, but I loved it even though it freaked me out. Used to watch the extended music video for Thriller over and over as well.
I took Dark Side of the Moon Album in to 9th grade Catholic music class to play the song "Time" - about got expelled! My parents were so much more progressive than any music teacher of that time period, like 1978!
Something that crosses your mind and body, that disconnects you from everything else, something that makes you enjoy and appreciate the present ... Just like your music, Love you ...

Yeah, I think I'd stick to either of the three or four 'original' versions over this, only because I feel a full orchestra should have made it sound 'bigger' instead of sounding like some of the 'flatter' live performances that get put up? Maybe I'm a boomer and can't handle change (the live shows are louder, but not always better...)
You are not clear about what a masterpiece is. Mozart , Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and many others could be not considered as great musicians if were not exists performers covering their pieces across the following years. The great new for Pink Floyd guys is today there are young musicians that recognize the greatness of this work in such way to put their skills and time at the service of these compositions. This can be considered the confirmation in time that Pink Floyd effectively composed a masterpiece and then it deserves to be played by others.

This is a great cover and I feel very blessed to have come across it. It also makes me laugh with the track “Money” on side 2 always beeped out “bullshit” in the 70’s on radio stations. Now to hear their music arrangements in orchestra performance...over the top! It is another way to enjoy these awesome classics. These performances make a dark World brighter.
Fantastic arrangement, the guitar solo was impressively Gilmouresque, the vocals appropriately understated but very heartfelt and solid (Hozier!), the orchestra majestic... they should have segued into "Eclipse" for a big finish!

Haha, no. I'm just an overzealous fan. Alex and Hozier met in college and Loah is listed as the cowriter on Someone New. Hozier has said the cowriter is an ex-girlfriend.
It's great to see choirs and orchestras play relatively contemporary music they would never have touched 30 years ago . Proof that time will sort out the lot .
This has to be the best cover of Time till date. Wow just wow. I usually don't like other acts covering Pink Floyd songs cause they don't (or let's say can't) put the same amount of detail into a song as Pink Floyd used to do. But this one absolutely blew me away. Their work and effort does justice to this masterpiece.
fetus Hozier looks so cute and soft that you almost expect him to sound different, quieter maybe, but then he opens his mouth and you’re just BLOWN AWAY BY THE POWERFUL MIGHTY VOICE wow fetus Hozier you’re impressive
I'm at the young fresh age of 22, been listening to this band since i was a kid. Their music strikes me as both a warning and a dire call to the future, those of us who come after the generation that inspired, wrote and lived these songs. Every time i listen to the music of Pink Floyd, i find myself floating in an ethereal sea of lost dreams, the dreams of those who came before me. The dreams of a young Syd, a young Roger, a young David. I feel i've learned more just listening to the music about them than most people will ever glean simply hearing them in an interview. As time ticks forever onward with its ruthless onslaught of aging and regret, i find more and more of my life drifting away from my dreams as a child. I know I have a long way to go, and i have these songs to guide me on a path that will differ from the rest.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say Home, home again I like to be here when I can When I come home cold and tired It's good to warm my bones beside the fire Far away, across the field The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spell you welcome x
It's ironic that the video was filmed in a church and focused so much on the cross imagery, because the last lines of the song are actually a criticism of religion.
@@FALCON9 I'm not so sure it's a criticism so much as a poetic way of saying "Oh, the church is over yonder across that field over there". Either way, it is kinda funny.
What i love is how all forms of music reproduction succumb to true genius. No matter the status or background genius gets the recognition it deserves. In no other human endeavor does this happen. . Physical art painting etc require decades after the artists death to become of interest. Only music conquers that hurdle. Musicicans have the greatest talent of all humans.
Will eternally kick myself as I was offered tickets for this gig and I just couldn't go. But it Kind of makes you proud to be Irish when you hear this level of quality and talent. Music really is the water in Irish Blood. Freeking AWESOME everyone BRAVO
I had tickets to Chicago in 1971 then worked myself to a state of physical exhaustion requiring hospitalization for 3 days. I think I know how you feel.
Fantastic. That guitar solo from Time is the #1 guitar solo OF ALL TIME, and he does it well. I can imagine this type of music might be a bit simple for classical musicians but I'll bet a lot of them like to listen to it as their playing!
When the orchestra kicks in after thought I'd something more to say, it gives me goosebumps every single time. Pink Floyd would be proud of this whole performance, but that breathe reprise would probably blow them away the same way it does me.
This was done very well, but I cant help note that you used an entire orchestra to do what Nick Mason essentially did by himself. Incredibly underrated musician .
Wow, it took me 8 years to find this? Now to share with my own age group of Floyd Fanatics, all over 60. Their first concerts were so ground breaking, many songs which are now timeless classics were getting introduced to us for the very first time. I was born in 1952 and feel like thanking the ghosts of my parents. 1972 Hollywood Bowl was my favorite concert of all time.
💜Gorgeous! The album was as moving when I was in college as it is today. Our dorm room 8 track, rigged to multicolored lights, played Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon on a loop through huge stacked speakers, from 9 PM until midnight, everynight. 40 years later, it still creates a sanctuary, a treasured guided meditation. I am so grateful for their significant contributions to my life💜
This is Mind-blowing Brilliant Incredible performing the Sacred Spiritual Music Of Pink Floyd.Could leave someone speechless like me.I hope those there experiencing and going through the journey are hearing this through some Incredible nothing but the best Audio Gear anything less would be a shame. SHINE ON 💎 FATHER FLOYDIAN ☮️🎼🫵
The best cover and sounding version of this very timeless piece. Years ago I wanted to name my Autobiography the Dark Side of My World, because of my years of depression, however, I thought it sound too much like this great work. Instead I titled it, The Stanger Inside Me. How my life spiralled down the slippery slope of depression and despair. I am better now.
This is spectacular. I can't believe how close it is to the original and yet so very different. It must have been amazing to be there. Incredible music direction.

Pink Floyd have now passed into the History of Music. I was a 14year old boy when DS came out. Their music is a culture to me. A great rendition of a timeless classic. Fantastic orchestration!
Amazing how 4 Musicians created this Amazing Sound and Song that an Orchestra CAN'T Make any better - Just as Good, Yes - Better - No. This is an Amazing Rendition all the same.
Let’s see; I’m 65, now and have enjoyed the most creative and inspirational era of music and technological advanced application to date. But here, shows that the original three, created music which parallels an entire orchestra.
These timeless songs are from my ALL time favorite album. DAMN this is perfect..... What power and fullness!!!! Perfect!!!! Thank ALL of YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not think anyone could improve on this masterpiece! I stand corrected ladies and gentlemen.
I discovered Pink Floyd around age 21 in 1999/2000. If I could go back to my childhood orchestra nerd days and play Time with the passion I’ve felt for PF since then…..I would never want to leave that slice of heaven. This video allowed me to pretend for a moment. Can I live in it forever, please?
To the person or persons who did this arrangement, You know your craft and understand it very well. It also helps that you selected such a special piece of music to begin with. Pink is one of the best rock bands EVER!!!!! I believe that Dark Side of the Moon is the greatest rock album EVER!!!! Pink Floyd was comprised of masters of their craft! They did things no one else had done. This album was released the same year I got out of high school, perhaps that is the main reason I hold it in such high regards!??!! I love and enjoy each song on this album. AND Tory's solo was/is SO moving And so special...... I get a real kick out of watching folks hear it for the first time!!

Haha, no. I'm just an overzealous fan. Alex and Hozier met in college and Loah is listed as the cowriter on Someone New. Hozier has said the cowriter is an ex-girlfriend.
Oh ok. That's a lot of figuring out, so thanks friend! What an amazing video this is, isn't it?
It is. The Trinity Orchestra has always seemed to attract really talented musicians. It's great even without singers.
Kind of an irrelevant information that Loah was Hoziers ex-girlfriend though, no?
It's great to see choirs and orchestras play relatively contemporary music they would never have touched 30 years ago .
Proof that time will sort out the lot .
It's so nice to see younger people love this song.
Wow. And to hear it in a cathedral, double wow.

The older I get the harder this song hits.... I always appreciated/loved Pink Floyd, but it's crazy how relevant many of their songs become with age.
Oh Lord...this IS your soul in this church and orchestra musiciens, yours Angels.. Amazing cover in any case
05:46 _The transition between_ Time _and_ Breathe (Reprise) _is epic… absolutely perfect!…_
I've been listening to this song for 50 years, and it's as fresh now as it ever was. This was brilliantly done on all counts. ❤
I will never stop watching this
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away, across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell
you welcome x
It's ironic that the video was filmed in a church and focused so much on the cross imagery, because the last lines of the song are actually a criticism of religion.
Good work
@@FALCON9 yeah.. thats kinda weird
We’ve all got google mate.
@@FALCON9 I'm not so sure it's a criticism so much as a poetic way of saying "Oh, the church is over yonder across that field over there". Either way, it is kinda funny.
If I got a case of amnesia and got to hear this again for the first time, I wouldn’t be sad at all
What i love is how all forms of music reproduction succumb to true genius. No matter the status or background genius gets the recognition it deserves. In no other human endeavor does this happen. .
Physical art painting etc
require decades after the artists death to become of interest.
Only music conquers that hurdle. Musicicans have the greatest talent of all humans.
When the brass kicks in at 5:45, it gives me chills.
+evdanker I too
I legit broke down in tears...
absolutely... i couldn't believe my ears
Try being in a middle school band then hearing that
The brass gives me the willies.....nice touch....
Will eternally kick myself as I was offered tickets for this gig and I just couldn't go. But it Kind of makes you proud to be Irish when you hear this level of quality and talent. Music really is the water in Irish Blood. Freeking AWESOME everyone BRAVO
John Keegan Cannot agree more and I am not Irish.
Gyup
Scottish, Welsh, German, and music is in my blood
I had tickets to Chicago in 1971 then worked myself to a state of physical exhaustion requiring hospitalization for 3 days. I think I know how you feel.
I'm part Irish & full-blood Pink Floyd. This was bloody awesome.
The tempo change at 5:47 is brilliant!
Fantastic. That guitar solo from Time is the #1 guitar solo OF ALL TIME, and he does it well. I can imagine this type of music might be a bit simple for classical musicians but I'll bet a lot of them like to listen to it as their playing!
You'd be surprised!! I'm a trombone player and when it's all arranged like this it can be just as hard if not harder. I love playing stuff like this
It's amazing that a bunch of kids can reach such performance. Bravo.
Such POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This cover almost reduced me to tears... Yes boys & girls it's that good!!!!!..................... A classic!!!
Whew, almost didn't listen to this today. Thank goodness I did anyways.
There's something so enchanting about Andrew's voice omg
When the orchestra kicks in after thought I'd something more to say, it gives me goosebumps every single time. Pink Floyd would be proud of this whole performance, but that breathe reprise would probably blow them away the same way it does me.
This was done very well, but I cant help note that you used an entire orchestra to do what Nick Mason essentially did by himself. Incredibly underrated musician .
Just when you think this song couldn't get any better, supersized by a great orchestra, I couldn't stop watching it
Pink Floyd what can you say? 50 years and people still want to continue to cover their music!! The best band ever!!!

I am so grateful for their significant contributions to my life💜
BookBWitched Well said. Very spiritual.
what in the religious experience did i just have??? i think i ascended into a different plane of existence 😍😍
I was like “dang he sound like Hozier” then I read the description lol
sounds and looks, same here
@@simlix because it is him

Wait, that's hozier?
Ok wow hes changed so much
@@user-pj1xe6iq6h Yes it is!
it's good to see the kids appreciating classical music
There is nothing more powerful in music than a full Orchestra !

When it's time to leave this world and go home for awhile, I swear this song will be playing. Outstanding cover!!
This is spectacular. I can't believe how close it is to the original and yet so very different. It must have been amazing to be there. Incredible music direction.
Pink Floyd’s music will live as long as the earth does ! !
Honestly, the Orchestra and the solo during the solo really hit me I was blown away
Can’t stop watching this in 2021. Simply amazing. Imagine how much practice time went into this.
3-4 weeks later.. Here's Lyrics again!🎵

I really love this cover :^)❤
Thanks for showing the lyrics. I don't think I ever realized what they meant as I was just so caught up in the music. Timeless!!
@@le7516 I really appreciate it 😊❤ & I think I know what you mean!! I'm totally agree with you.
Thank you for ur warm comments
If there is a second place to Pink Floyd version, then I have just listened to it......so amazing and all live performance. A standing ovation
Love the violins. Theres just this heightened notes that the instrument exemplifies. Its so breathtaking and overwhelming.
WE’RE TAKING HIM BACK TO CHURCH WITH THIS ONE 🔥 🔥
WHY AM I SEEING THIS JUST NOW??? WTF! THAT'S INCREDIBLE!
That's completely amazing ! I spent 5 months in Dublin and I have only one regret... Have missed a Trinity Orchestra show !!!! Whaw !! - Fromage
Bravo!!!!!!! Perfect! thank you ALL...........................................
this is by far my favorite cover I’ve ever heard
Music like this transport’s me to a more positive relaxed state of being. I desperately need this in my life.
Pink Floyd have now passed into the History of Music. I was a 14year old boy when DS came out. Their music is a culture to me. A great rendition of a timeless classic. Fantastic orchestration!
The guitar solo gives me life every time. AMAZING
When it takes an orchestra to emulate the floyd you know the guys were something special ✌
Amazing how 4 Musicians created this Amazing Sound and Song that an Orchestra CAN'T Make any better - Just as Good, Yes - Better - No. This is an Amazing Rendition all the same.
Exactly. Was trying to articulate the same idea. Thanks
Awesome Cover!! Of The Great Pink Floyd!!!! My Era!! Best Album!!! I'm 69 still Rock n Roll!!! I get a Natural High when I play Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd proves that greatness when replicated can remain greatness.
that breathe reprise is coming straight from heaven.
I was just a kid behind the iron curtain when this song came. It’s quite an expirience to listen to this young people loving the same music. Thanks.
This is BEAUTIFUL. The strings are gorgeous, the kid on lead guitar KILLED it. Bravo, kids. 🤘🏼 xox

One helluva school project. Magnificent. They all passed this test. Beautiful, music and scenery.

A great tribute... to one of the best bands to ever exist on Earth💚
They r the best band 2 ever exist

@@erichoffert9805 2 flagships of timeless music my friend
I'm lost for words. Magnificent interpretation of a legendary song.
