The oil is for the rubber bead that runs around the visor opening. It's mentioned in the helmet owner's manual

Yup my last helmet had it too. It came with the helmet manual, not the pinlock manual.

Silicone oil is for rubber parts - to avoid deterioration. But I may be wrong)

The silicone oil is for LUBRICATING the hinges and mechanism. PINLOCK got the name because of the nature of its inner shield. There are pins and it locks the shield by the nature of design! Now the easiest way to install one is to put the face shield under your arm and extend it straightening out the shield. With the free hand install pinlock shield. Really easy.

the oil is for the visor mechanism if it ever starts to stick as you raise and lower the visor.

It's actually for the rubber bead around the visor. Says in the owner's manual 👍🏼

that is how you dont like to put the pinlock on your vusor.... you need to bent the visor first and not bending the pinlock visor 😊
    nice helmet by the way

Hi, I have a shoei rf-1200 with out the breath guard (the rubber peace above the nose) and I am wonder how important this item is on the helmet and is it really needed. I did notice i have a foggy lens because I don't have the pinlock on my tinted lens and I am concern if the fog i notice was because I don't have the breath guard. Could anyone help me Please. thanks

najim H It is always good to research multiple reviews first. But the 30K is not released yet so no solid reviews for a while.
