Alamere Falls you can do it! Shortcut and everything you want to know before you go

  • Alamere Falls is a tidefall waterfall that flows into the Pacific Ocean. This quintessential Marin County hike is located in Point Reyes National Seashore, northwest of San Francisco.
    About 1.5 hours from San Francisco!
    Short trailhead Palomarin Trailhead Full loop trail 13.60 ml
    Shortcut- 8.4 ml
    Elevation- 1.955 ft (990 ft with shortcut)
    Where to take shortcut- 3.9ml then 1ml inside to the falls
    Best time to go- round the year(but spring = big water fall)
    Parking- Fills by 8am plan to arrive early
    Fee- No fee
    Difficulty- Moderate
    Estimated hike time- 7 hours
    What to Pack- Food and lots of water
    Trailhead Facility: Pit toilets available only at the starting point of trail!
    This trail has poison oak and ticks, so, stay in the path.
    Short cuts may reduce the distance around 4ml but short cuts doesn’t have proper signs , and one need to get down and claim back around 40feet scrambling down a rocky ledge, rocks can crumble, causing you to fall!!. Please note most of the time there will be no string or support , these paves are very fragile .The rocky scramble requires scooting and climbing to reach the bottom, but if you take full precaution it’s doable.
