      @nopsies I do not. They were a young couple…late 20’s out for a hike and lost their way. We located them by accident near a very remote cave, took them for a brief tour of part of it, then drove a good while on back roads until we located their Fiat 500.
      Doubtful they would have made it out on their own. Sometimes God amazes us.

But watching the use of the descender at 6:06 needs addressing, you must have a firm downward grip on the brake strand (rope dangling below you) if possible at all times 100% when pulling the lever to descend, very dodgy. Keep it up though and very entertaining 👊👊. Stay safe

    Hello! Big fan of the videos and get me very excited to explore! I’m also a climber and a worker at heights(on wind turbines) and wanted to comment on Jacob’s hands when descending, typically you’d want one hand on the device and one hand on the brake line(bottom line)

      Yes thank you. This is the conversation I have with Jacob 74 times a day. Perhaps if I let him know that viewers even notice, he will be a little more self conscious about it.
      That being said, it is tricky in those tight spots to use the gear properly.

      It was harder and a lot harder for Jacob. It becomes a strength move. There are other caves similar to this which getting into is simple enough but getting out of can be very tricky.

    • @CalvinHikes
      @CalvinHikes  3 роки тому +1

      That's interesting. I don't think it's a specific kind of salamander which is translucent... I think it's just due to whatever is underground in the darkness. Even this breed of cascade salamander can get very translucent. I've seen all kinds of critters (in the dark) that lose their pigmentation over time and you can see their bones. It's really neat.
