In this cave? People kept getting stuck after that first big drop. Because that's the spot you can get into just with ropes but you can't get out without specialized gear. That was also years ago before specialized gear was easily available. Good gear, available to common folk, is much more accessible and so they leave the cave open. Even though very few people know where it's at, they have not attempted to close it again.

Used to love caving but got into an accident awhile back that took a huge toll on my left leg. Love your videos, and love the attitude you guys approach everything with.
Can’t wait to hear how you dealt with your injury and went caving anyway. You still have the mind that enjoys caving and tells you you can do it. God bless.
At 12:30 that picture is amazing. That’s a selling point to “caving”. This cave seemed “easier” compared to the stuff you guys and (other channels) show. Edit: additional comment. This is the best video I’ve seen from you guys yet. The cave was cool as heck. It’s one I’d like to trek through. Except the rappelling parts, the crawling parts and the pinch or two you guys found yourselves in. Great job guys.
Thank you. Yeah this would seem easier as we aren't crawling in constrictions. But given that it's vertical it's much more dangerous. It's just not a danger that is as easily conveyed on video. The danger gets lost in translation. We can casually visit constriction caves but we cannot casually navigate this cave. Another danger that isn't easily translated through video is the temperature. This cave is quite cold and that has to be fought the entire time you are inside.
Calvin I just want to say how inspiring your videos are. Honestly the first time I ever viewed one it gave me anxiety but within a few minuets everything changed just from listening to you talk. I can imagine being down in those caves takes away every stress your dealing with in life, it’s just yourself and the cave no time for intrusive thoughts. I’m just about to book my first caving trip because of you so thank you!

Thank you, I just Rently stumbled upon your channel and I am watching all of your videos. I have no desire to do what you do but I can explore thru your videos. Thank you for the nail biting entertainment.
Interesting that you showed the 2011 Kamoamoa eruption at Napau crater on Kilauea volcano. I was the first person there after the eruption started. I was lucky enough to see 3 new fissures open up no more than 20' from me. I have seen subterranean lava tubes within larger tubes. One opening dropped about 125'. I didn't have the proper gear and was alone when I discovered it so I decided not to try and explore it. When I returned a week later a huge new flow buried it all. The main tube skylight was 50' in diameter and maybe 30' deep. The vertical shaft that led to the sub tube was maybe 3' in diameter. The rope I used to measure its depth had a thermometer attached to it. It read 120 degrees at the time. Colorful flows like that are common in Hawaii lava tubes.
Nice. Thats really cool. I tend to use offsite images so as not to disclose the exact location of what we are doing. But rest assured, we are at the base of a Volcano!
Wow! Thats was something special. This is why I always mention your channel if I see a posted clip of yours anywhere. People can't get past the anxiety thoughts enough to imagine the kind of spectacular things that make it worth doing what you do. Thanks for sharing, take care and be well.
it's just amazing that such a tiny little hole in the floor at the end led to that absolutely beautifully preserved tunnel. Makes you wonder how many amazing caves are out there in nature, yet undiscovered
This is the type of cave I'm more familiar with, I don't like the squeeze in types of caves. Very nice video. Quad redundancies are always a good idea, many have died from a single peice of gear failure because they didn't have a backup. Excellent to see
My sister and Dad and Mom were part of a caving grotto. They went on a lot of cave trips. I loved seeing the pictures and videos later on. I’m fat and claustrophobic so it’s cool to get to tag along with you guys on your adventures. Thank you so much for sharing
You may say you’re fat and claustrophobic, but I say there’s a reason you have these survival skills. Evolution makes it so not everyone is alike, this means that not everyone will be wiped out in a disaster because they are all doing the same thing or behaving the same (or have the same traits, even; sometimes you might notice that in a family, the kids don’t even look like they have the same parents; this is evolution laying down protection).
I've gained weight and am not claustrophobic, yet in my youth (when I was skinny and only 150 lbs.), I found those tight crawlspaces gave me reason to consider becoming claustrophobic! 😅👍
Love the "I'm a limestone cowboy" comment, and the lasso maneuver; well done! The only "caving" I've ever done was the sign-guided tour of the polar caves, a glacial deposit, in New Hampshire. It was a family outing, but my Dad, at 6 feet 4 inches, could not complete the tour, as the turn-arounds were too tight. My tiny self utterly enjoyed the experience! Interesting point: there was ice in the bottom sections, in August. My goodness- that lava cave is amazing! One question- has anyone gone down into the bottomless pit? Curious what's down there. Thanks for bringing us along on your journey!
Wow. This is so amazing. I would LOVE to be able to touch some of that beauty but I’m just too anxious, fearful & paranoid. I’d have a complete mental breakdown. Bravo to you two and all others cavers that can do this. THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
I am so claustrophobic that I was getting triggered just watching. Without guys like you two I would never get to see the neat underground formations. Thanks for being WAY BRAVER than I am. LOL
The big room was glorious! And so were those still photos of Jacob that were edited in. I could never crawl through such tight spaces but I admire your patience and toughness so much! You inspire me to slow down, laugh it off, and keep going. ❤
You guys are a breath of fresh air the way you are out there doing this for the love of it instead of the money. I wish i could support your adventures more often.

Ok guys. I've done some caves in the Springfield Missouri area and some underwater bouldering and shoots in Upper Bidwell Park Chico CA. One time in Chico I was coming through a pinch hole underwater and got stuck at the hips , literally 5 inches from the surface of the water. I could see a young man watching me only feet away and that allowed me to relax enough to "wiggle" through. You , my friend, have given sweaty palms and anxieties on a couple occasions where I had to walk for a sec. Knowing full well you made it. But sh;t man some of these squeeze spots are crazy ¡!¡!¡!

God bless.
Think I would prefer something safer and more open like sky diving with an umbrella
Video please?
A very cool looking cave. Couldn't help but be interested in seeing more of the bottomless pit.
Do you have your gear ready to go? 🤗
Let us know how it goes!
Thanks for sharing! Wow! :) Also, how cool for you guys to actually respond to so many comments! So rare with utubers these days. :)
We work together trying to keep up. We consider Y’all friends.
You guys seem like really great people! I really respect all of u and watched every single one of ur videos so far AND ill never stop, great content and as always be careful😁
By now you should be ready for a cave in person. 🤗
Thanks for taking us in there with you! That looks really cool! 😍😍😍
It was very cold and challenging. Several long days were involved to make this video.
Your videos are very well put together with the illustrations and narrating, like you have a whole team of editors. 👍 Your channel was the first to get me interested in caves, so thank you!
Thank you so much. So often, people ask to go caving... but nobody ever asks to come over and edit videos for hours!
I’ve watched a bunch of your videos at this point. The only thing to have given me anxiety so far is that bottomless pit. You got me there, ngl
We have to agree with you on that. It’s beyond the reach of our biggest lights…so far. The snow is about to let us back up there.
I’ve been following you guys for a while now. This is absolutely your best content yet! I love this show! Thank you guys for your effort to share what most of us will never see.
Kind words. This cave will keep us busy until we unlock all it’s secrets.
Oh man. Was waiting for the creepy caving music. You did not disappoint. 7:07
Fun comment!
So cool that you guys decided to go further than anyone else had before and got rewarded with those beautiful formations!
And that’s the reason we push through the tight places. Thanks for watching.
I'm just glad you guys didn't get stuck, so they wouldn't nuke the darn thing.
That’s probably the next plan of the cave closers.
I love your videos, what separates you from the others is I appreciate how you educate your audience and you keep my attention, you leave me craving more! Thank you, I just Rently stumbled upon your channel and I am watching all of your videos. I have no desire to do what you do but I can explore thru your videos. Thank you for the nail biting entertainment.
You are welcome and thank you for all the kind words. And welcome to the dark frontier.
The earth is remarkable and worthy of respect. Thanks for sharing.
And we give it that respect. We take nothing and leave no trace.
Dynamite cave. It keeps going. Beyond the pit you must cross over it and into the cathedral
Then cowboy up into the higher reaches and tunnels.
Wow! Thats was something special. This is why I always mention your channel if I see a posted clip of yours anywhere. People can't get past the anxiety thoughts enough to imagine the kind of spectacular things that make it worth doing what you do. Thanks for sharing, take care and be well.
You understand the thrill of discovery. We try to show that the risk/reward factor is kept upright. This cave is one of the best examples.
"We just want to carry on living". That was funny. Looked amazing, thanks for sharing.
With a great cave adventure now and then.
it's just amazing that such a tiny little hole in the floor at the end led to that absolutely beautifully preserved tunnel. Makes you wonder how many amazing caves are out there in nature, yet undiscovered
Plenty! We're always hoping to find new ones.
I just stumbled upon this video and I was enthralled the whole time! Liked that you included information of the site!
Glad you enjoyed it. This cave will challenge us more when we return.
This is the type of cave I'm more familiar with, I don't like the squeeze in types of caves. Very nice video. Quad redundancies are always a good idea, many have died from a single peice of gear failure because they didn't have a backup. Excellent to see
This is a great cave but will probably not get as many reviews as the more riskier ones. Glad you enjoy it!
I wonder now what the bottom of the bottomless pit looks like... hmmm... and wow those colorful formations are so beautiful!
And the color is natural. We use no colored lights.
My sister and Dad and Mom were part of a caving grotto. They went on a lot of cave trips. I loved seeing the pictures and videos later on. I’m fat and claustrophobic so it’s cool to get to tag along with you guys on your adventures. Thank you so much for sharing
What part of the world did they cave in? It would be interesting to compare some notes. We are glad you enjoy our videos. God bless
@@billsanders9387 bro tried to copy them 💀💀💀💀
@@tommeriman330 he's the father of the caveman
😅👍
Just started binging your stuff and happy you uploaded!
That room really was a great find!
Stunning when we discovered it!
That pit answer is coming soon. Gearing up is spendy. Almost ready.
Why am I not surprised that some people would crawl around like worms underground ❓🤔
Love your analogy!
Wow. This is so amazing. I would LOVE to be able to touch some of that beauty but I’m just too anxious, fearful & paranoid. I’d have a complete mental breakdown. Bravo to you two and all others cavers that can do this. THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
Your mind may be tougher than you think. Welcome to the underground.
Hello from the algorithm. This is incredible. Thank you for sharing!
Welcome to the dark frontier.
I am so claustrophobic that I was getting triggered just watching. Without guys like you two I would never get to see the neat underground formations. Thanks for being WAY BRAVER than I am. LOL
Thanks for watching. Bravery or curiosity? Probably more of the latter. 🤗
The big room was glorious! And so were those still photos of Jacob that were edited in. I could never crawl through such tight spaces but I admire your patience and toughness so much! You inspire me to slow down, laugh it off, and keep going. ❤
Great comment! That’s how we do life too.
You guys were tremendous on this trek! Thank you!😊
Thanks much. We gotta beat the snow and get back in this beast.
You guys are a breath of fresh air the way you are out there doing this for the love of it instead of the money. I wish i could support your adventures more often.
Thank you so much! Just a regular kind comment like yours is also a breath of fresh air.
To be "Beyond the end" of a cave must be EXIRLRATING for ones like yourself and Jacob; Myself I would never... Such SPECTACULAR imagery! I Admire from afar, incredible...
It’s why we keep pushing. Addictive exploration!
Wow that cave was amazing! And the new groove room was absolutely awesome to!
Y'all be safe!
It is almost beyond imagination in person.
Spectacular cave and very well presented. A real pleasure to watch!
Hopefully this convinces people that we are not crazy to discover the unknown like this. The reward is far greater than the risk
I like how y'all explain what happened inside the çave and what u have do with experiment to ex0lore with a map young dude make ßure u got ur gear safely y'all be safe
Safe, as defined by fearful people, or as defined by us crazy outdoor explorers? 🤔🤪
that yellow sediment in the lava tubes is usually sulphur, if you get an overpowering smell of rotten eggs, run! also may be worth taking an oxygen meter in the lava tubes with you in case of dangerous gases that may still be leaking in the tunnels :) awesome find and video! be safe out there
We monitor the air as necessary. This cave and most others in the region breathe quite well.
Amazing brick lines in this structure. Intricate detail lines for sure.
Except it’s just lava rails from many previous eruptions from the volcano. As it flows through, it leaves solid rock lines.
@@billsanders9387 I don't believe a word of it.
@@ConeysIsland652 And that, my dear, is why you only explore the internet while we explore the unknown secrets hidden by The Great Creator.
Love this cave! I bought all the gear needed just to explore this cave and it was well worth it!
Then you understand how this caves keeps saying “Go get more gear if you want to discover all my secrets”.
Your story would have made a great video. It would have given us sweaty palms!!
Amazing cave ! Thanks for sharing this place with the world
Great comment. It’s such an awesome place to explore.
Wish I lived closer to you guys. I’d like to see a lava cave in person. Really really neat!!
You may be surprised how many exist all over the world…even near you.
Your videos never cease to amaze me. I am so glad I could live vicariously through your content. I just don’t have the nerve to do what you are doing. God bless you folks. Stay safe and healthy.
I can hardly handle being in an MRI machine, let alone the small passages of a cave.
Thanks for the comment the blessing. We enjoy discovering His creation
Wonderful that a new vid popped up just watched the last one end happy to go to bed with this one :) just love 2am UA-cam and btw I love the quality of ur vids it just keeps getting better 😎 all the best
We’re going to try one today that others have found too cold and difficult to complete. It has a brutal downwind on the side of an old volcano. We’re prepared to take it on. Thanks for your kind words.
Wow the groove room looks like Buddha with radiating energy waves emanating out,
Great description. This cave is so incredible.
I am making my way back to the hidden lava tube caves in Gifford Pinochet NF this weekend and your video is so inspiring! I have been trying to explain just how big parts of the lava tube are and your video shows it perfectly. I loved watching you guys explore safely and make new discoveries!
Where are you planning to explore? Above Cougar, Carson, Glenwood, or Trout Lake?
@@billsanders9387 above Carson falls creek cave specifically. We love the area and cave, even though it feels like you are bouldering the whole time! Lots of fallen rocks but beautiful cave and NEVER busy.
It ends with a hole that has a slight drop, never have trained enough to go in with ropes.
@@Teraclipse Tera, while that cave is the best known in the area, it is not the only or even the best cave in the area. Find me on FB. My personal location is Sutherlin Oregon. We cave pretty much anywhere.
@@Teraclipse Coding five then four and you won the eight one or seven, doesn’t make nine or five but 3 seven stop. I can steer you to a great cave.
Sounds great! Thanks for letting me know how to reach out.
This is the content that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Any somewhat tight squeeze makes my body just tremble with the anxiety of thought. I don't think I could ever do this. Thank you for making these videos so people like me can experience this second hand.
Great comment. This cave will keep us coming back.
Wow! That groove room was unlike anything I’ve seen you guys explore before. That was truly amazing!
Thanks much. We need to return and prove that there is more to explore in this beast.
@@billsanders9387 bro you aint them
@@caboose1219 Either you are wrong or the caver with 65 years caving experience wearing “find my body” orange in the video is an imposter. Follow me today in to a tough cave and we’ll sort out the “aints”. Bad dad
Not for me, I’m choking just watching you crawling in that tunnel. Great picture, beautiful colors, please; stay safe!
Or at least let EMTs know where you are caving. 🤪🤪
Holy cow. I would really like to of seen how deep that pit really is
If they ever come back to there they just have to bring something with them so we know right?
Yes we will return and we will go to the bottom.
We’ll keep exploring it. Massive cave!
Fascinating cave & it's my first time ever seeing one. Cool colors & wall textures. See you again soon.
Thank you guys.Stay strong & safe.
Thank you so much! As far as lava caves go, this one's pretty extraordinary.
Im so addicted to watching these that I booked a caving trip with my university
Let us know how it goes.
Like a digestive track the lava flows on the bottom.....
Interesting observation. It does appear that Pepto-Bismol was used in this system.
Yeah I try to make it interesting but for one thing there are a lot of places in caves that do swallow people up and it's not a joke there are ancient massive creatures around Earth that do swallow people up I watched a bunch of people get swallowed up in a cave system in Oregon and they wouldn't even put it nothing in the paper or even the media their pickup trucks in that set outside by the entrance for weeks and weeks before family members were advised to come get their vehicles
Well later on maybe people will understand when the earth floods real deeply a lot of things get swallowed up an ate
You guys are crazy ...love your channel man..😎👍
Thanks. We did a tough cave today, and have the cranky knees to prove it.
You don't have to worry about me going in a cave. Just ain't going to happen.
Been waiting for video for a whole month I knew you would return:)
A whole month! It might be a year next time. I just don't know.
@@CalvinHikes eeee I guess I’ll wait for a whole year then i love watching your videos:)

snaking through tight places makes my stomach turn .
Us too, then our legs follow the stomach. The key is to keep everything together.
Fantastic stuff . Watching this safely in my warm bed
There is no safe place.
Push through a small hole... I was doing ok till then. That's a NOPE from me. The lava tubes as a whole are truly amazing.
Most of them have tight entrances. It’s just part of the gig.
Glad too see u back exploring ❤️
We’re going to try one today that others have found too challenging because of a brutal icy downwind. It’s a steep cave in a very remote region and we are prepared to take it on. God’s frozen chosen!
You guys are nutz but thank you for the perspective tho be safe in your explorations
We are aware of the perception of craziness, but the sport is just a great way to chill.
I don't even know how I got here, but, this is absolutely terrifying!!! 😱 Seriously, HOW do you not freak completely out in those spaces?! Kudos!! I sure could never, EVER do anything like that.
