For Chrome, we found the best option to be Smartlink's Night Mode for Instagram. ''. You are welcome! 😁

I think growwithjo is great for beginners who really don't like working out. It's a great start and her workouts aren't too agressive/intense so it's moe enjoyable for beginners. I used to do her workouts before, but now I don't find them challenging anymore, and I'm more into Caroline Girvan's workouts. So i think it depends on where you are in your fitness journey. I still do Jo's workouts sometimes when i'm too tired to do something else but still wanna be active.

Yes! I’m trying to make a habit of exercising and I hate doing so, but her workouts make exercising easy and fun enough for me to stick with it. I don’t even need modifications, and with any other workout video, I’m doing the modifications on half the exercises. I’m sure this is an indication that I’ll eventually need to graduate to something harder, but she’s great for people who are where I am now.

That's the thing. It works when you stick to what you enjoy doing. It will not give any of us championship-level shapes but that's probably not the goal or the message of growwithjo. And the abs will appear when there's significant fat loss and a bit of ab work.
I had friends at dance when we were pre-teens/teens, who were weaker in their torso and abdomen region than me by a lot based on the movements they could do but their abs looked way more defined because they were at a very low body fat percentage.

I lost 11lbs in 30 days doing her workouts 5 days a week. They're simple, but man you DO sweat far more than you think you will. Social media has become flooded with movements and regimes that are simply far too advanced and niche for the very average every day person. Most people are not athletes, yet these very high powered workouts that saturate UA-cam seem to imply it's the now the average way to exercise and the only way to get effects. They often take a lot of time and effort to perfect as well, which might be unfeasible to sustain long term for anyone with a full time job, kids or big responsibilities. Most people just want to move more and stay at a healthy weight and I think Jo is perfect for that.

Can you do a video or talk about how trauma can negatively impact the body and how it may affect health and fitness?
I left an abusive marriage 4 years ago with my four kids, my youngest was 9 weeks old. Initially I focused on emotional and metal healing, and after some time I came to a place where I was ready to start rebuilding my physical fitness but the trainers I spoke to ended up making things harder. My metabolism and hormones weren’t great because my body had been in trauma-triggered survival mode for so long (plus childbirth and breastfeeding were affecting things). My trainers were so coarse and hard to me, even accusing me of sneaking food and lying about my calorie intake because I wasn’t losing weight through their plans. Being shouted at by a man, and having him monitor and assess my body and choices was already very triggering, but also I believe my body reverted to survival mode to manage the changes that were happening to my diet and fitness. I feel like, since your audience is predominantly female, there’s probably others out there who have struggled with their fitness and with reaching their goals, and with relationships with professionals because of experiences of trauma (relational/pregnancy/childbirth/social), and they maybe feel how I did: isolated and broken. I would have benefited from understanding that my body wasn’t functioning the same way as someone who had maybe never experienced trauma, or wasn’t still recovering from trauma.

    • @sarahw5693

I don't have any insight here but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry your trainers treated you that way. You most certainly did not deserve that. That is so cruel and dispassionate and I really hope you are in an all around better situation now 💕

@@Thereikifaequeen1177 oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. I really hope you start feeling better really soon.
I know it’s not a one size fits all, but what really helped me was eating and sleeping intuitively. Sometimes I’d sleep for entire days, sometimes I craved nothing but junk food, but after a few weeks I felt like my body “reset” maybe it started to get used to me responding to its cues. Gradually, I had more energy and started to feel like my body was using food for fuel so my energy increased and I felt a bit more hopeful.
Also, when your body is in survival mode it seems to not take nutrition from food as efficiently so you might have some deficiencies, iron and b vitamins I think can be common. I take those in liquid supplements as well as magnesium which can help with nerve repair. Idk if that’s in anyway helpful x

Growwithjo is great for people like my dad to get a few steps in. We used to do some of her walking workouts together during quarantine. He’s 62 and diabetic and also has asthma so I love seeing him have fun while moving and randomly breaking into dance haha. He’s back to work and does more on the stationary bike now but he still enjoys her workouts once in a while.
For non-beginners though, especially if you’re looking to “grow” by which I think she means hypertrophy(?) I think there are better trainers to follow for that.
She’s bubbly and really fun though. I still join my dad sometimes and we have a great time.

As someone who's been struggling to find the best, most fun way to move for more than a decade (I would workout for a month or two then drop out because it was not enjoyable for me), it's because of Growwithjo that I became more consistent. I love her bubbly attitude and her dance and walking workouts are fun. Not a big fan of her occasional clickbait-y titles but otherwise she's okay. I'm doing more of Caroline Girvan now but I still come back to Jo when I want to take it easy, just to keep me moving 😊 Thank you for another great video, Harry. Keep up the good work ❤

The issue i have with cardio/hiit resistance training is it really promotes garbage form. If you're following along and trying to go fast enough or on the music, often you aren't focusing on the technique and therefore just throwing weights around which can lead to injury. Most of the time the weight isn't heavy enough to notice but overtime it could lead to issues

    • @hannahlorna8800

Definitely agree - I used to do HIIT training with a couple of trainers who were kind of promoting outdated info, always rushing through sessions and not demonstrating proper form and my old knee injury started causing me problems again. The bagel thing still amuses me, and I shouldn’t be remotely surprised this continues to happen…
If you hate Bulgarian Split Squats, why did you program it for me then….
You are already big, so hard to imagine you getting even bigger….nice subtle bicep flex you threw in there too.
Again, always a wholesome message from you, every single video. Nothing surprising, great work as always! I'll rate Lorna Shore for songs, but what I listen to in the gym typically changes so much not sure what I'd say my current favorites for end of my workout are. Citizen Soldier for the sad probably and I have been listening to Falling in Reverse or Wolves At The Gate recently too for something more aggressive.

I completely agree with your statement on combo exercises but depends on the individual's goals. I have seen a lot of trainers targeting fitness beginners to build strength using these combo exercises and somehow applying progressive overload with these movements. It would be interesting if you could do a full video on why combo exercises are not functional and do not build strength in comparison to focusing on compound lifts.

At the end of 2020 I became really depressed and ate my feeling, and gained a lot of weight while already being overweight. In Novemeber 2021 I started changing my eating habits and I've incorporated exercise and make sure I keep my steps up everyday and so far I've lost 3 stone. I don’t think I’m her target demo (I’ve been weightlifting pretty heavy for about 5 years and not looking to cut body fat), but as someone who HATES cardio, her videos are a fun and easy way to get some low-intensity / low-impact cardio done. Yeah, some of her video titles are a little clickbait-y for sure as you pointed out, but the content doesn’t usually reflect that. I think she’s encouraging fun sustainable activity, and it seems most of her audience is very new to fitness or getting back to working out after long lapses / weight gain / injury, so I see it as a positive overall.

I'll even throw in Creeping in My Soul by Cryoshell and Heart of a Warrior by Dizzee Rascal, for tunes that might bring a different sound!

Hey Harry, love your videos! Just wondering, do you think Jo's dance workouts would be effective as a warmup before strength training? I'm working through Caroline's Epic Endgame program (which is absolutely killer, BTW 🥵🔥) and I like to warm up with 10-15 minutes of cardio and I aim to burn approximately 100 calories or more in that time. Would love your insight :)

Yes, I think so. The same goes for Leslie Sansone. These workouts are great for people who don't have a lot of physical strength, that are in recovery but trying to stay active, people over 60-70, obese people. A lot of the popular workouts that are seen as beginner friendly are already challenging for the most regular people (those who comment), cause maybe they're not used to those movements, or to do a workout in their free time. But these walking workouts help a lot of people at their start of their "fitness journey". That being said, the clickbait titles exist for a reason, most people always want a quick fix so they search for what burns the most calories, what workout tones the part of their body they're insecure about. I wouldn't trust fitness trainers to give me health advice, but these videos encourage movement, even if they don't result in the quick fix and perfect body from the titles and thumbnail. Also, the calories part is can be triggering and helpful at the same time. There are active people or overweight people that like to keep track of how much they burn and their progress so they can plan their menu's and rest days.

As someone who exclusively listens to techno in the gym and mostly listens to techno when out of the gym, i cannot imagine listening to anything with a low bpm.. sounds like when your earbuds die and you have to listen to gym music 😖 transition to the better workout music 💪 and feel better. The bpm is consitent between 120 and 124 bpm so it helps with timing and sets and helps you lift better without being distracted by lyrics. Here are some top songs:
    - Martin Brooks - Hot box (hip thrusts)
    - Ronnie Spiteri - Breathe (a reminder)
    - AirRod Amelie Lens - Adrenaline
Anything on the Techno Bunker spotify playlist.

    I have a question:
I've been going to the gym and doing resisstance trainig for about 1,5 month and the thing is I am quite often changing exercises that I do, due to the fact that I am still gathering info on topics like which moves are the most effective and that sometimes some machines are more availabe than others and I tend to get bored of one move pretty quickly. Is it very bad that I do that? Do I must try to stick to The same exercises?

The movements were simple enough and for someone who at the time only cared about burning calories and losing weight, they were effective. But as I started implementing more strength training to my workouts and built up cardio tolerance, I found her workouts don’t really cut it for me anymore.
